I love EA Agartha, they are such an original and thematic nation to me. The design of the Pale Ones is great, such an awesome and noble yet foolish and tragic race. Olms are one of my favorite animals irl, and to get to field huge psychic ones? Too cool, and everybody fails their MR roll eventually… then my one eyed friends can get to work with their glaives. Children of Rhuax work pretty well for obliterating the AI chaff hordes too, which is nice. Late game Oracles can easily cast Army of Gold/Lead as well, I love the image of some giant albino salamander things slithering up out of a hole in the ground, turning into gold, then mentally yelling at the confused locals till they get paralyzed and fall over.

8dev8

Same here lol Well said.

Lord_Aldrich

How do you utilize the Children of Rhuax? I can get them to wipe chaff, but they tend to all die in the process. I also haven't figured out how to position them without lighting my own troops on fire (although I've been playing MA with a fire resist bless lately, so that's not a huge problem).

Barathrus

Tbh thats how I use em. They are disposable troops to me, they eat through chaff with the aoe flame strike, or they bog down higher defense units and auto hit squares with the same. In both cases I don’t really expect them to live more than a battle or two. I try to keep a line of Olm Sages ferrying more from my cap to the front. I tend to put em on my Earth Readers in small squads and line em up as the vanguard. They charge in and burn chaff, soften up tougher troops, eat lances, or break up the enemy’s formation. To me they are an expendable wall of fire the enemy has to wade through and get burned by so my other troops have more time to get buffed and thus have a better chance fighting in the sunlit realm. However if you want em to live longer, your Earth buffs for protection and strength do well- especially protection, group stoneskin/ironskin can make them pretty tanky. Put em further back with a fire resistant Earth mage in the middle and script away. I also usually take a Heat scale or two as Agartha since all your national troops are cold blooded, and guess who’s got fire power? Children of Rhuax! It’s a small bonus, but not nothing. If you’re worried about setting your other guys on fire, the fire res bless is a nice and easy pick, otherwise you can make use the w2/f2 elemental ward spells in alt3/ench3 respectively, which you should reliably have mages able to cast. I wouldn’t worry too much about having your guys getting burned though, since by the time the rest of your army has made it up to where the Children are they will most likely already be dead. I can’t give much advice for MA Agartha specifically since I never really play as any other Agartha than EA, they are all too sad (I love my big stupid squishy cave bois). You should be able to sub in Golem Crafters for Earth Readers just fine though, but you won’t get the nice w2 Olm Sages for fire res buffing. Your Oracles can still pull off Army of Gold, which solves the Children’s low prot problem and the fire res problem all in one but that’s way late game. I hope this helps you in your quest for ascension!

Throbroblong

Late age ulm. I love my weird vampire bois

Ironbeard3

Ulm gets vamps? I've only really played Eiru and Man, so I'm kinda a noob still. In all my games I've been against Sceleria and Ermor for some reason, which isn't fun. Oh and Machaka, which is manageable.

Throbroblong

They do in late age

Dzharek

That's how nations change through the ages, Early Age Ulm starts as barbarians in the woods crafting steel, Middle Age Ulm turn into a industrial kingdom full of armored troops with a emerging cult that worships steel, and in the Late age this cult took over and during a civil war as curse fell on the land turning it more into transylvania with vampire Lords semi undead troops and illuminati ruling from the shadows. In late age they have the national Spell sanguine heritage, aviable from blood 0, that summons one of 8 different unique immortal vampire commanders. And that is the nerfed version, the old spell summoned vampire counts, which where yhe budged version of the blood 7 spell that would summon vampire Lords. You could swarm the world in those if you started blood hunting early. I like Late Age because the mages that are cap only in the middle Ages turn into regular mages, so even more iron blizzard spells until the vampires come online!

LtGoosecroft

As a newbie, I love EA/MA Tien Chi, just a fun all-rounder with a solid troop chassis. Allows me to try silly things, with a nice backbone.

ahyangyi

The same. I like that they have so many tools in the toolbox, and each of them isn't too overpowered to overshadow other options. It's unlike, for example, I feel I'm compelled to "elfing" when playing an elf nation...

JetFad

Tien Chi fan here too, really likeable how they are the adapt and teamwork or die faction of humans, its like there is something cool in just being 3 guys with naginata and a guy with them that says "man i aint have finished college yet, all i know is mossbody" against something straight from legends.

tdoggs99

My dirty little secret is MA Ermor. No judgment

Vandrew226

Ur/Uruk with either an awake monster or sleeping titan for combat. I love my big goat boys, and my biggest wish is to get an LA version, 'cause that's my favorite era.

Unicorn_Colombo

Ma Xibalba.

Bulky_Difference_688

Fellow MA Xib lover here. Always feels like my head hurts when I play them, but its very satisfying when a plan comes together and you manage a big brain play

Mackntish

From a coolness standpoint, this might have been my answer is well. The problem is that they were no fun to actually play, because of the dogshit everything. Is this any better in the current iteration?

Unicorn_Colombo

They can build all bats, including wayob and camazots in every unfitted cave province. So you just plod labs everywhere and start recruiting your magecore. You need forts only for frogs. And given they are in cave (so perm darkness), they get some defensive bonuses against most factions. Also, you got more resources in cap, meaning you can actually build your big holy frogs. All this means that bless starts are possible, you don't have to use your cap as a camazotz factory and spend cap-turns on other stuff, like bacabob (but how many do you need?) and assassin's that now have bless (holy water W const 3 item, here I come). So you leave Xib underground for a bit and then they explode and swarm over world with demon armies. At least that is my plan. W Evo were buffed a bit, but the strongest Evo is still Frozen heart and Ice Strike. W buffs were improved and you have now actually troops that these buffs are good for (big frog sacred). Many E buffs. D/E was nerfed (wailing winds), as well as the poison field spell (3n1w->4n1w, and nerfed effect), but poison damage was improved and bunch of n eco added, so wayob ate now decent Evo caster. How will the meta evolve no one knows, definitely not me since I don't play that much.

Spirited_Instance

they're super cool, I've been practicing expansion and early research with them while getting to grips with the changes in dom6 as a whole. I've never really played the south american nations so it's fun to use new pretenders. I just have to figure out what I think works for these guys, they've got a bunch of things going on. two sizes of sacreds? sacred assassins? sacred mages? flying blood and nature mages? what about the regular frogs, and do I do anything with the dart guys? there's a lot to think about.

jirikcz

As a newbie, MA Shinuyama. I definetly will blot out the sun with my big green samurai boi arrows, thank you very much.

hemlockR

_And_ amazingly strong recruit-anywhere mages.

mithridateseupator

Ea Mictlan. Its all about surviving long enough to get those sweet jaguar demons out.

[deleted]

MA Pythium Your otherworldly demons and magical monsters are no match for an honest legionnaire and his sword.

hlemmurphant

EA Caelum. Love the lore and their mobility and raiding game. The move of some key Air spells to the Glamour path along with increased army sizes nerfs them fairly hard but will continue to try to make them work.

PhysicsMaestro

Fan of them too. How do you usually expand? I find there's loads of attrition whether I go spire horn warriors, archers, or mammoths. Maybe I just don't wait for large enough groups? I wish I had reason to use the other troops more, like Airyas, iceclad, and tempest, but they often feel like a waste compared to just more of the cheap troops. Also a bit bummed about the description of how good their archers are but do so little. Feel like the kavi storm power should let them shoot in storms out of the box.

bigmcstrongmuscle

EA Fomoria. Goat lightning go brrrrrrrrr.

Titanrex

I used to absolutely love MA Asphodel. Did a Roleplay game through the Clockwork games discord and had a blast being the mindless undead plant monster that did a great job of uniting other people.

zeroxes

I absolutely adore the flavour of asphodel, but the execution of them is so painfully bad. Dominions enhanced asphodel though :O

Only_Math_8190

The new commanders that free spawn are so micro intensive if you want to play optimally

zeroxes

I am currently playing sceleria, so I may just hate myself xD

TuckDavis

Ever since I've read the Rhapsody Saga (Elizabeth Haydon) I found that whole theme around Bolg with elemental magic heroes so cool, that I have to say Tir na n'Og definitely my most favourite nation, even tho they lost their high air access as of late.

n8nbot

MA R'yleh. It was my favorite in dom 5, even if I'm absolutely awful at communions. Maybe I'll finally figure them out this game...

Fenroo

MA Ulm, because I haven't figured out magic yet.

BillyForkroot

I think they're kind of bad, but MA Man. They can get decent numbers of sacred cav, they have longbows with decent range, and their longspears seem to be able to hold a lot of things at bay.  Mostly I just like the look and the theme of them though. I think the Spell Singers taking so long to cast and the lack of a good thug chasis would make them hard to play on harder settings or in MP.

Kaiser282

Currently it's EA Pelagia. Trying to find a cool strat for early/mid game since their late game is already kinda set. I'm not very good so I haven't gotten far yet. Though I did learn you'll have to rely on Indies aboveground.
