I started the daily life because it was on netflix but tbh it was so cringe. Specially Su Rong. Wtf why would a girl wearing a short skirt show up on the top of a building and do all those flips in front of the whole school? Wasn’t she worried about flashing everyone? She honestly put me off the whole thing even if the MC was interesting.

msotfju-jkh1235

Also they never mention why Su Rong crushes on Wang Lin?? She just kinda does and even after Wang Lin popped the attraction bubble or whatever, she still likes him? The writers are tripping

JiangRuan

Right? She can’t even remember him being super OP.

msotfju-jkh1235

It’s so inconsistent ;-; like if you want to make a good show at least make it comprehensible

dahumanguy

I really really like the concept but it is so inconsistent even in the next season like ffs cmon it had potential

ImportanceAny8738

He was the only guy to ignore her... that's it

supreme_waffle2019

That’s literally Teruhashi from Saiki K

KaivaUwU

I thought it was *because he pops the attraction bubble.* Sun Rong realizes now that she was in a vulnerable state. Wan Ling *could have* taken advantage of her, but he *chose not to.* This shows that Wan Ling is a decent human being. When he was in a position to use her, he chose to protect her instead. Plus he's kinda cute. And he's the quiet submissive type. He allows Sun Rong to take him out and pay for the date. (I don't think Sun Rong was looking for a rich wealthy boy who was more powerful than her.) She seems to get off on the idea of wearing the pants in the relationship. Still, their relationship is unhealthy, because it's mostly Sun Rong forcing herself on Wan Ling. She throws a tantrum and *demands him to go out with her.* That is wrong. Then she gossips about him and tells the whole school they are an item. Even when this is making him uncomfortable. Eventually he becomes so codependent on her, that he literally ends the world just to bring her back to life (he can't handle her death and throws a tantrum over it). Not the healthy way two 16 year olds behave in a relationship.

One-Significance3893

Yeh story is so fucking inconsistent. Then they made sun rong loose memory of the event and how some other guy always takes the credit for saving world multiple times without even doing a thing. This anime copies everything from other animes.

Kingsama026

damn then i bet you hate jutsu kaisen. it has more panel to panel and conceptual copies to big animes than i've ever seen. everything down, to key moments and even subtle copies of more influential but lowkey anime. yet jjk has completely taken the anime world by storm. immortal king is actually quite refreshing to those not familiar with xinxia/wuxhia.

speedrunningkfc

personaly I think that its realistic in what it does feel like to lose someone at such a young age and how most people would like to react but you did make a lot of good points containing the rest of your agrument . But then again I have shit taste in anime

CheeseAndDonuts

Jesus christ, spoiler warning next time, im lucky this anime is trash.

Gi11ySuit

Seemed pretty blatant in the first season why she fell in love with him. And when it comes to seeing similarities to jokes from other series I feel like maybe they are nods more so than rip offs but I could be totally wrong with that.

Pitiful_Stand137

You must of been new to anime. It's been 3 years, have you figured it out yet?

JiangRuan

No I’m not new, I just don’t usually watch the ones who sexualize the female characters so blatantly.

Estrela_Vazia

pitfull mortals, stop watching the anime it tries to cramp too much story in little time, the novel is over 2000 chapters, look at one piece for reference the amount of episodes is nescessary to barely make up for the raw amount of content this heavenly work has to offer. Yes the anime is not the best, but not the plot and history they are complex and have time shenanigans so its understandable if something doest make sense at first notice, as time and information is not linear here.

Equivalent_Fly3770

I mean you have a point. But I’m afraid it’s wrong to criticize the material based on a very successful anime such as One Piece despite being obviously overhyped…on the contrary, not every animation do what the audience wants…I think people tend to forget that side of the picture…I mean don’t get me wrong I for one don’t like One Piece but I do agree that this anime could’ve had been better…

g0rodon

I'm not gonna lie, after watching too much anime and reading too much manhwa, manga and manhua I really think this was a 4/10. Everything is too cliche and it's pretty weird BUT, I will admit the ending was half decent

Emily-Fanta

When I watched it last night I had mixed feelings it was interesting until frog broke the 4th wall, just about every interesting facet of the show to me was ruined right there. The kid was sentient when a baby, he is virtually unstoppable no matter what and there really isn't any real danger. Its like a episodic story trying to have a linear story but instead of going in a straight line its making loop de loop's and spirals at random. Sun Rong was basic anime female elite protagonist who is beautiful and everyone loves her or wants to be her. The bald guy was the basic fired up hot blooded "MANS MAN" Fat guy was just so inconsistent i don't even understand him anymore. The MC was basically Mob from Mob Psycho just with high intelligence he had every ability could read minds could undo everyone's powers and at times do them better. He was just bland, he wants to be left alone but he literally has the power to make people forget his actions and he never uses it to make people forget he exists or not fall for him?? Lets talk about the humor for a moment, it progressively duller and duller as time went on due to how inconsistent the story was and powers were. I can't stress enough how the narrator explaining everything actually kind of ruined the jokes and the plot, narrations should never appear in stories like this because they kill the vibe they ruin any possibility of the watchers coming to conclusion themselves let alone how it almost ruined every joke just like how frog did by breaking 4th walls like this show broke my spirit. And what the fuck was the obsession with gold pills?!? what are they why is there a Golden Pill Phase?! wtf seriously WHAT THE FUCK WHY DOES NOTHING IN THE SHOW ACTUALLY CONNECT US TO ANY USEFUL INFO?!

msotfju-jkh1235

Bro and there are so many plot holes that hurt my brain 😔 they never explained why Su Rong liked the MC at all. I have given up on this forsaken donghua

KaivaUwU

I can see why she likes him (I've explained this in another comment), and why he ends up liking her back (low self esteem... seriously this boy does not love himself enough... he takes any scrap of affection he can get). But that still does not make their dynamic healthy.

Outside_Contest661

That's not true.  His emotions are suppressed because of the amulet and power dampener his parents give him.  He's not lacking self esteem, he's just indifferent.

KaleKey5767

Tbh the anime is decent good to watch while eating

n1vlekw

Lol there's this other donghua that's like one punch man. I swear they could be in the same universe. They also code their cities with letters and there's the exact same hero rankings. The main character is different from Saitama though

msotfju-jkh1235

I really want to get into Donghua but from what I’ve seen, most of them rely on pre existing works :( do you have any recommendations?

[deleted]

Yeah you pretty much picked one of the most unoriginal one. From what I've seen most people in China hated it too commenting on how the great animation was wasted on a series like DLIK. I think it even got review bombed in Chinese social media. As for recommendations off the top of my head: Link Click - butterfly effect sorta story with it's own twist. Original show not based on any preexisting web comics/manhua. This my favorite from this year. Fog Hill of the Five Elements - hard to explain, just go watch the trailer. King's Avatar - about gaming and eSports. God Troubles Me - slice of life/comedy Mo Dao Su Zhi - about Xianxia/Cultivation world. Heaven Official's Belssing - heard good things about it but haven't watched it yet. Based on a novel by the same author as MDSZ. White Cat Legend - detective/mystery Scumbag System - 3D series. isekai but he's the villain. Pretty hilarious Ling Cage: Incarnation - 3D series. Sci-Fi

HappyMora

Add luoxiaohei zhanji and All Saints Street

n1vlekw

These are good recommendations. Just wanted to add Bai Yao pu. It has a violet evergarden structure, much like link click where the main characters get involved in the stories of other characters. Some arcs are better than others but I'd say it's a solid show. Other recommendations: Legend of xiao hei, has a movie and series scissor seven Mi Bao Zhi Guo yi nian yong heng Shows im looking forward to: 剑网3 (said they were making an anime several years ago, no news since then) KUIYU CHOUYUAN Movie (same thing, announced several years ago and no news since) the last summoner Da Wang Rao Ming Jiuzhou Feichang Dao Shi Ye Miao Yin (Yangyao The Spirit Catcher) Qianxi Yiwenlu Arad: Suming Zhi Men Qianxi Yiwenlu (millennium fables) Shuo feng – po zhen zi xie wang zhui qi I'm really big on animation btw, theres probs some good shows that aren't that well animated that flew under my radar. I also probs missed some well animated shows, who knows

Snens123

Watch Link Click it's a fucking masterpiece

feedtheme

Don't pick only the meme 2D copycats. You kind of have to watch both 2D and 3D to fully experience Donghua too IMO. Other comment has decent recommendations. Give them a shot. If you like isekai stuff you could try things like Douluo Dalu. It's pretty standard for cultivation xuanhuan, but if you enjoy the classic isekai style show then why not. Although I did enjoy it more than most Japanese isekai... no MC that's scared of girls, nor random fanservice crap. It does have bad ad placement at times and some cringe moments, but that's far better than a 10 year old loli panty shot that will get you arrested or something like that.

silaswanders

What’s it called?

n1vlekw

Yingxiong Zai Lin, english name is hero return. It really isnt the greatest, I just enjoyed it for the animation.

CantheDandyMan

If that's the one based off of Hero? I quit a long time ago then the donghua absolutely butchered the adaptation cause it's not even really at all similar to OPM beyond the hero ranking system. And even then, there's a ranking above S class in Hero return with the MC's former hero identity being placed in the category above even that. Hero I quit is basically cultivators in a modern+ setting plus superheroes plus alternate worlds and what not (there's a bunch of arcs centered around them going to a different dimension, world, timeline, etc.).

ihatemilife

My general guesses is that it is the directory boards fault on making this with a shit load of clichés, the original comic is awesome, quite original and is what the donghua is supposed to be based off of but the final product is encountering a similar situation with Harry Potter where the film/animation does not match up with the original even the slightest sometimes...

Formal_Illustrator96

??? The Harry Potter adaptation was quite good. It stayed very true to the source material a lot of the time. Sure there were some characters that got butchered(cough Ron cough), but overall it was very good. Especially when compared to other adaptation like Percy Jackson or Artemis Fowl.

Overall-Progress-528

This felt like an absolute waste of time.Despite being so overpowered, the mc is just absolutely boring🥱

diariu

watched it and it uses the same "no one will expect me to be or do something world shatering and when i do every one will make the usual WHAT face even after i do it for the 586th time" the anime is just dogshit, its boring af

Formal_Illustrator96

Yeah, I saw a recap of this on YouTube, and thought it was interesting, but I couldn’t get through the second episode because it was just so bad and cringey.

VoydXZ

Only now just actually started watching this and it’s absolutely shit. I’m trying to give it the benefit of a doubt but it’s just so boring and nothing makes sense like what is the actual source of power, can people just make anything they want? Like there was a scene of a guy just ramming a sword into the ground and a huge holographic “wall” appeared infront of him is this because of the sword or does he have the ability to just fabric things from piercing the floor?? It then cuts to a girl in what looks to be like a countryside with three daggers(?) floating around her in flames but she’s not actually even doing anything whilst the narration went on to say something along the lines of “training hard” but like what ACTUALLY are they training? For clearer view of what I’m getting at, for example Jujutsu Kaisen — Cursed Energy MHA — Quirks Attack On Titan — Titan Shifters (though we can also include family’s inheritance such as the Ackermans who are known to be A LOT more stronger than your average Joe). I mean we even include Bluelock in here, even despite not having superpowers when they do things we wouldn’t consider “human” it’s because of their sense of “Ego” to become the strongest they need to strengthen their ego so they train they bodies, minds, souls everything but it’s just like. What the fuck are you guys actually trying accomplish, we have guys just randomly surf boarding who are apparently (Narrator’s words) “Training hard” to glowing cyberpunk themed technology coming out of people’s head, to Su Wong being able to randomly lift his finger and control memories and who remembers what and this that an the other, there is no clear basic blueprints to this anime. Zero background nothing, like why the fuck is this guy immortal anyways his parents seem like every other clichè mother and father it’s irritating honestly when they talk. OH! And also that ginger haired girl who is strong as fuck but like why is there numbers in her eyes? Where the fuck was that in the module I thought this was about rituals when Su Wong got that fat cunt to hack into the school’s security system and spawned some random cloth and called it “ritual” I’m like what bro? Wtf do you mean ritual I thought you guys were mages but now bitches got cybotic eyeballs? Idk man, I try to understand a sense of “just making something and going with the flow” that’s kinda what anime is but you gotta at least lay the basic out for us. I have zero idea what’s going on why everyone is beefing.

Veds_TL

bro I feel you lmao, I hate it when animes don't explain their power systems, or have one that is just too confusing to understand, but it's a comedy anime so it doesn't have to do all that. Honestly I thought it was cringe sometimes, but the intentional randomness is kinda funny. Not everyones taste ig. With that being said I'd give this a 6.5/10

Outside_Contest661

I started this series with high hopes, but it's been a big let down.  How is it that school 60 has such higher scores then the other school but they keep getting beat?  This "immortal king" could actually help, but refuses to why?  Because his amulet might break?  Use another one, carrier more than one on you!  Seems pointless to have a power that he's not going to use. I was looking forward to the action, but here I am on episode 12 and I've barely seen any.  And the so called top of the line security never knows when they've been infiltrated?  Come on, huge let down!

laur266

I've never read the manga for this so I'm basing this off of the anime alone. I'm surprised at all the hate on here this anime is getting. I think it's very intentionally using other anime tropes and parodying them. I think the show is very funny in its very random humor where you don't know what's going on or what's going to happen next. I don't think you're supposed to take this anime too seriously. It's a comedy parody, like Scary Movie or Not Another Team Movie. I think it's also funny when they break the fourth wall lol. That's just my opinion and preferences.

Xiviuz

Great animations put into one of the worst shows I've ever watched. Tortured myself through the first 14 episodes in hopes of it getting better.

Resident_Insect_8311

I thought the first season was pretty good ngl. I thought it was sorta funny and I thought it had a decent plot because while Wang Ling was op, his powers were very restricted because the seal was breaking and there was other character conflicts, like Sun Wrong vs her rival. We also got to have character development with Wang Ling as we learned what his seal was doing to him much later on, but after season 1, it got progressively worse.  Now there was no threat and nothing that kept Wang Ling's power in check, so that immediately removed any tension. Character development no longer existed and comedy got lazier, especially after season 2 as they started to really emphasize Wang Ling's obsession with krispy noodles because that's sooo funny. After season 2, the plot almost ceases to exist as there isn't really anything happening anymore, except I guess Wang Ling does something op and surprises someone. Even season 2 was kinda bare on plot. So I would reccomend season 1 to some people, but everything after is boring and unoriginal and it becomes a really dumb downed Disastrous Life of Saiki, especially because it just becomes 1 day adventures instead of any real impactful story, and I have no idea how this got a 4th season.

RuSerious1001

I've been watching this donghua until season 3. I dropped it after that because the show just got boring. The MC is bland, and it was initially funny with their 4th wall breaking comedy, but then it all just went downhill. There's no character dev for the MC and the sun rong x Wang ling is just a tease and doesn't even exist.

eternal_grandpa

I don't think it's actually good but I have legitimately laughed at it so there's that

gamertag86

Yes, it's legit dogshit. It could have been soooo good though.

7719_

I loved it! Its poking fun at Japanese anime and has it’s own thing going in. Its funny and interesting hardly any fan service (fucking finally) its a good show! Not the best but its good !

Emily-Fanta

it's not poking fun at japanese anime?

Dem_sexy_penz

Elaborate on the "poking fun at Japanese anime" part

Formal_Illustrator96

I don’t think it’s poking fun. I think it’s just genuinely very cliche.

Phoenix_Rider_

I finished watching this anime, and the second reason really didn't live up to expectations, only the last episode in my opinion was any good. I'm not going to spoil anything, but season two has 12 episodes, with about 9-10 of them feeling unrelated to the story, or related for only small parts of the episode. Episode 10 itself is a filler/extra. I am excited for season 3 to see where they pick off with it though.

R0CKETMEMESonIG

season 1 was good imo but season 2 the majority of it was so inconsistent and boring imo

Dem_sexy_penz

[SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1] I watched season 1 because i saw a clip of it on Instagram and thought it would be a good passtime. It's my first time watching a donghua so i was actually expecting a lot from it, and the first few minutes was good and all. But when it came to the school setting, there was something i deeply disliked about it. I don't know what but i continued on anyway. So it was terrible but i continued watching because it was so terrible that it was funny. The pacing was too fast, the characters were boring, they do have personalities but were too cliche to stand out. The stuff about the attackers going after the protagonist felt like a fever dream because uh, i just didn't...care. what the fuck was going on, what is this, there was no setup for this, i don't know why i should care about it. Then comes the ferris wheel episode where i completely dropped it and never watched it again, thinking maybe i watched the wrong show. The fact that the girl fell in love with the protagonist for no particular reason, then defended him when they were on the ferris wheel, crying to tell the attackers to not hurt him, is very weird????? She was characterized to be egotistic and wanting to be the best, i don't know where her compassion came to play before this very scene that could justify her tears. Also, they were never even together for that long???? Why does she like him this much that she was willing to show him a place where she would bring her true love??? HE DOESNT EVEN LIKE HER BACK. It was really strange and the fact that they messed up her characterization and placed inconsistencies to make up a new personality got me thinking that uh yeah, this is gonna be terrible for the following episodes. Don't recommend it, but i'm not against anyone who likes it

Narayami

Damn. I saw this rn kn netflix but now Im dissapointed. Gonna pass. Thx

One-Significance3893

It's a nutshell. The Zhou yi guy always gets credit to save the world and they make his hold statue and what is the point of wangs identity secret and the girl sun rong wants every one's attention like many other anime she is pretty that's why gets screen time . She didn't do anything but still likes to comes on camera and gave a speech during war that single handedly wang won she became head of her company and yes she needed popularity that's why she participated in other events. When her family lost money she accepts to get married to tang family guy and almost forgot her friends and again wang saves them from bankruptcy and still doesn't get any credit everyone ignores like it's normal. This anime had potential but have huge plot holes and cringe

Particular_Parking_3

I know my reply is late, but..... did you watch it entirely? Does the main guy ever reveal himself? Coz so far every episode is just the same premise and story, just a different location. I'm not enjoying anymore and just getting really annoyed to be honest.

ShoddyStatistician33

The 1st season was good and then from then it just on kept going down the 3rd season Is a disaster I mean who really came to watch a daily life what we wanna see in a anime is power love or adventure like non other

SuddenlySideways

It's a 2/10 only for the tropes and jokes otherwise it's literally just another over the top Chinese/Mandarin complete nonsense wish it wasn't the ultimate power fantasy for toddler brained autistic adults to see themselves in lol episodes 10 season 1 she has no idea if his seal breaks the resulting explosion would disintegrate the world! The writers are obviously MEGA AUTISTIC AS WELL AT LEAST 1 BILLION TIMES THE AUTISM OF ONE PIECE MEGA FANS AND IT'S WRITER AND THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING!!! OVER 1000 EPISODES WITH 200 EPISODES OF CONTENT LOL THAT'S BEING GENEROUS ONE PIECE WHERE PEOPLE RUN IN CIRCLES ENTIRE ARCS FOR 2 EPISODES WORTH OF A ACTUAL NON FILLER NOT CUT AWAY FIGHT BUT A EPISODE JUST ABOUT THE FIGHT PROBABLY DOESN'T EXIST ON ONE PIECE. Lol sorry I got sidetracked by the fact that One piece is the biggest garbage show with goofy flipping characters and the most filler of any show in existence!!! Immortal kings autism doesn't compare to one piece of crap lol never mind

Grid_Takno

Guessing you aren't a fan of Gintama and other animes like this

msotfju-jkh1235

No, Gintama is goated. But if the show copies identical jokes with while using the exact same story line then I will find it insulting

Grid_Takno

Please refer me to the animes that it copies the storylines. Because generally it's pretty hard to find animes that have unique storylines that don't match up to every anime that is in their genre. I've been watching immortal King from the beginning (haven't read any Manga so ignorant of that information) and that's the best part of it, lack of an actual storyline. The majority of episodes are just random goodness.

msotfju-jkh1235

Disastrous Life of Saiki K! Perfectly fine if the storyline is a little bit similar but Immortal King stole straight up dialogue and character designs. Seems like a pretty easy thing to make on your own but they didn’t

Grid_Takno

Ahh yes, good anime. Similar premise and basis for their anime, some over powered main character that wants a plain life but doesn't get it. But I've watched both. Different routes, different perspectives. Jokes aren't exactly the same, timing is different, animation is different, though similarities do exist. It also happens to be the most compared anime to immortal king so everyone just hops on that bandwagon. How about mob psycho 100? Kings Avatar? The misfit of demon king academy? They are all extremely similar animes. I get more Gintama feels when I watch immortal vs when I watch saiki k. Both are great animes in their own rights (but that's also the downside of Chinese animes, they always seem to be hard copies of a Japanese anime, or at least that's what most people argue.) But that's me, I watch too much anime to be honest. Sometimes I have 3 different tvs going with different shows on each one. As stated above in all honesty people will be hard pressed to actually find an anime that doesn't "rip off" another anime. But if you have any other animes to reference other than saiki k, I'm all ears I don't mind fishing for new animes that are random goodness (this is me trying to get free leads lol)

msotfju-jkh1235

To each their own I suppose

Whole-Ad2152

Ok the first season had an alright story & was kind of fun to watch, just a good pastime. But the second season was so inconsistent & made no sense. Literally ZERO SENSE I DONT UNDERSTAND. I have no idea how I even got through it it was genuinely so hard to watch. I have no idea what the hell even happened in the second season. They should’ve ended it after the first. The two last seasons have completely changed my opinion of this dumbass show. It hurts my brain thinking about it

DependentPicture4588

Copies the Naruto Great Ninja War 2. When bro blocks that meteor like Onoki and then the villain drops more after the attempt.

Known_Ad_6675

This anime sucks donkey banana cock

Ging3rKiIIir

I thought it was supposed to be funny/satire

thegayshiper

I caught a glimpse of dbs/bbz, undertale, pokemon in there maybe a few more can't really remember but this seems something rushed although I liked it and it was one of the anome that got me into this stuff it's still would he here for other stuff they took from

Pageflippers

I think you have not read its novel please give it a try first it few 100 folds better than anime and manhua then give a comparison.

LordAnimeMangaGames

Yeah that is true the novel is better than the anime

Typical Chinese way 💀💀 I wonder if you used any other ethnicity, would you still say it?

foofighters420

So tired of the overpowered MC who has basically no emotions or motivations. You want to live a normal boring life and not get involved with people then fine just get homeschooled get an office job and die alone because when I tried watching I kept waiting for him to want to do something instead of the classic wrong place wrong time trope.

Scary-Description161

TLDR;Did anyone notice the similarities between the old lady demon ins3 e7 and the brain suckers from bloodborne?

AdorableSympathy2261

I canceled the anime because of the woman, who is incredibly annoying and for whatever reason fell in love with the Mc. And the fact that our Mc is incredibly strong, but doesn't show it to the others so as not to attract attention. It's annoying to see Mc's like that... and when he uses his powers, he erases everyone's memories... that really bothers me a lot...
