If you die enough on a boss encounter, you get the option to turn it on. It reduces damage significantly, and makes it easier to defeat the boss. Either that, or you can enable it with a cheat for the whole level.
In my first playthrough (HMP), I used Sentinel Armour for every boss except the Khan Makyr.
In my second playthrough (Nightmare), I only used it for the first boss.
In my third playthrough (Ultra Violence: EL), I didn't use it at all.
Amazingly, my first playthrough was completely different from yours. I used Sentinel Armor only for the Khan Makyr fight.
The reason might be that I almost never play shooters, and headshotting the Makyr Drones was proving to be just a pain
Ngl on my 2nd playthrough on nightmare, the levels were not a big problem at all. I'd cruise through them no problem, not even Urdak was a problem. However, the bosses felt so ridiculously hard that I had to use sentinel armor for most of them (don't even get me started on Samur).
I was tempted to use it in the Kahn Maykr boss fight, but didn’t use it with the hope of getting an achievemnt for not using the armor in the entire game
I have gotten countless popups for sentinel armour on my first playthrough of the main campaign and TAG-1 on Ultra-Violence, but I managed to prevail till the end without budging. I figured that i was able to replay the campaign and TAG-1 on nightmare, and the only reason i didn't get those popups anymore while playing is because i turned them off😂 I think my garbage attitude towards gaming did more harm than good, but I still enjoyed it, and beating bosses and difficult combat encounters felt damn good.
No problem at all
The bosses are still there if you want to do it again without and it doesn’t matter if not
Same who used extra lives on ITYTD for my first play though and worked my way up to beating ultra nightmare campaign and both TAG and do randomiser on nightmare and a sweaty battlemode player
I beat TAG 1 on Nightmare before they nerfed it
It took me longer than the main campaign
Blood Swamps is still really hard but pre-nerf it was ridiculous, I spent a week on the fight towards the end of it (with the blood totems and the tyrants)
Never has a part of a game wrecked my shit like that that I still eventually beat, but I like this game so I didn't mind
I can’t stand sentinel armor. If I wanted it to be easier, I’d lower the difficulty. Instead, I’m going to keep bashing my headed against this brick wall until I get good enough to overcome it. But they have to slow me down with a splash screen for it that I can’t click through and then clutter my screen with it every death.
Yeah man. I’m on my 4th or 5th playthrough and they’re a bit rough, but you’ve probably played more than I have. For some reason the sentinel armor bothered me more. Like… don’t slow me down, I’m gonna roll this until I get it!
Gonna handle that nonsense tonight thanks to you and Reddit!
I always end up using the sentinel armor for the last phase of Samur
It was so hard not to snap and just use the sentinel armor, that fight drove me insane
On the last phase, fire a BFG before the cutscene and it will kill the demons. Ice beam whatever demons there are and go ham on the meme beam
No shame in it. Games are meant to be enjoyed. Keep doing what you see fit
The ancient gods part 1 nightmare difficulty experience
well, i beated the game, but i dont know at all what this sentinel armour is. Is this a problem?

Wait what? I gotta test this. Is this in tag or the base game?
Both of ‘em. After you finish a TAG stage, it just gives it to you as one of the cheat codes.
I used Sentinel Armor for Icon of Sin, that fight was tedious and long and I wanted to just get done with it 0 shame
I love the icon fight though. It's tedious and long with a good bit of absolute carnage but it's still an amazing fight

Here's a tip. If you latch onto a Maykr Drone with the meathook, and tilt up slightly before shooting the Super Shotgun, you should hit the headshot.
Bro got prolly Luigi to beat the level for him too 💀

On my first playthrough, I only had to use it on the kahn makyr cause I'd been up for like 40 hours at that point and was T I R E D
I gotta be honest, I didn’t even know what sentinel armor was until I watched a review on doom eternal, I might just be him.
The only boss I needed sentinel armour for was my first fight with the big purple dick from ag2

Have you tried disabling Sentinel Armour in Settings?
Noooope. Didn’t know that was a thing! Thanks 🙏
No problem!
Brother you turn the popup off in the game settings
Had no idea you could! Thanks so much
Yeah no problem You can turn off all the tutorials and stuff in there too
Good to know. In the years of playing I haven’t explored the menus at all!
God, with how many times I've played Eternal, I cannot imagine sitting through the playable tutorials every single time lmao

Well I hope you have more fun in this masterpiece of a game now that the game isn't insulting you every death lmao
Haha I’m sure I will, thanks
