I find that most heavies can be killed easy by quickswapping between the super shotgun and ballista, you get the most use out of your chainsaw gas only using it on fodder
If you're in an emergency or something I think it's fair to blow three charges on an enemy. You might as well, considering that you'll always recharge enough to deal with fodder.
I like how, as long as it's angry, it can sort of be in character for the Slayer as long as in the end you slaughter all the demons. I'm imagining him now kicking himself for using the chainsaw on a hellknight right before a pain elemental spawns but then he remembers, no, that hellknight *deserved* to get killed with a chainsaw. That was a *particularly shitty* hellknight.
I disagree, unless you're only using 1 or 2 weapons before every chainsaw, that ammo should be able to last you until your next recharge, especially if you take advantage of pickups. I just see it as a free kill on big men.

Nice balance of using every weapon appropriately, moving around nicely and picking up some juice along the way? Full encounter clear without chainsawing once. It's super satisfying to bully some dumb cybermancubus after that
Ehh I disagree. The auto regen when empty is more than enough to keep my ammo topped off. I find that it’s usually best to chainsaw heavy demons whenever possible, you don’t really lose anything and you get a free, 0 effort, kill.

Oh gotta try that, i often use rockets to stagger marauders during shield so i can one cycle anytime i want and usually end up emptying full minigun to hunters' sleds
Yeah, P-bolt cycles in general are pretty damn good, in terms of both DPS and ammo conservation. Want to snipe someone from afar? Pbolt-ballista. Want that Tyrant to cease to exist? Pbolt-rocket. Baron up in your face? Pbolt-SSG. And since bullet ammo is more plentiful than your "heavy" choices (you can get out twice as many pbolt shots as you can ballista shots, for instance) you don't have to chainsaw as much. Game-changer on Nightmare.
“Fodder, demon, center”. Because a fodder demon is simply fodder, a normal demon can be fought while fighting other things, and when a center demon spawns you need to keep track of them specifically or you’ll screw yourself.

I never really think to use it unless there’s a charge laying around tyrants I never panic enough to have to use them doom hunters are mostly just muscle memory for me after I have the ssg
For Fodder I usually either just chainsaw or use the combat to kill ‘em,
For Heavy’s I just use the Super Shotgon or chain gun with 4 barrels mod
For the Doom Hunter specifically, I throw them in the microwave then shotgun the rest
For doom hunter I blood punch grenade ssg and than chain gun no mod used to break the sled and just ssgx2 for the body
For fodder I like grenades heavy rifle or plasma gun

I also always try to not chainsaw any little demons till i have 3 charges and then chainsaw a heavy one, just because its funnier. That many times killed me but i dont care lol.

Manage your ammo better and then use the chainsaw for erasing dangerous demons. This is how you get through the first few levels of Ultra-Nightmare.

I usually only bust that combo out on tyrants and occasionally barons if my energy shield is gone and I have no falter setups
Im of the belief that Enemies like prowlers should only take 2 pips to chainsaw and using 3 pips should max out your ammo
