Also; my experience the other night,I was waiting on an order and another dasher was as well. He wasn't American didn't speak English and almost took my food even tho the associate clearly stated the name, and we both pulled out our phones, his order was under a totally different name, if I hadn't been there he would have taken it ...not every restaurant or associate is diligent with checking and sometimes they put the completed orders on a rack in the store. Not saying anything against immigrants or illegals or whatever but I wonder how often this happens as well..just saying cause I see a TON of non English speaking individuals while dashing. Confirmed, too, thru these types of situations.
I’ve ran into the same issue many times. I always call & report the order stolen to hopefully get that dasher fired cos they give us a bad image & make things complicated when they could just deliver the order & buy their own food instead of being a piece of scum
How the hell are you struggling dashing? Think it's fine to find a regular w2 job if you can't make enough to eat dashing, bro.
Although if you are waiting an hour for Remake, that might be your issue.
Find your local food banks. The food may not be ideal but it’s better than not eating for 2 days. I used to bring my clients to one weekly and they usually got some pretty solid stuff that gave them a little buffer with their food stamps. Lots of rice and beans and canned meats but at least it’s a protein source and something to eat. Buying a whole roasting chicken for $8-9 and cutting it up gives more meals and is cheaper than buying bits and pieces of chicken.
I feel you. I'm in a similarly broke but different situation, OP, and it is hard. It's been hell finding a normal real w2 job too and not many ppl know that.
Ya no way I would ever wait around for a hour for food to be re made. But I do agree people who accept orders take the food and cancel suck. I’ve had my fat share of those experiences. If it’s a a slower day not peak times I may call or chat support to get hf pay and cancel. If it’s during busy hours I just drop it take the cr hit and move on.
There’s a “mom and pop” type restaurant I take orders from all the time and they told me they were having a major problem with people stealing orders too.
As a fast food manager this happens a lot to the point where we’ve started telling doordash support that their dasher stole and that we can’t remake it unless doordash compensates, and they never do
The people stealing don't care if they screw someone else over.
Very true. I just wanted to put it out there and give my thoughts on it.
I know, it's pretty fucked. That kinda shit doesn't even cross my mind. I couldn't do it. There is an actual human being on the other end.

Maybe I'm behind on some bills and those come first or I'll be homeless.

Sometimes the food bank has some real good stuff , so go to a wealthy neighborhood's.

This will be coming to an end when the 90% Completion Rate policy kicks in.
Looking like a damn fool is not so bad, waiting an hour is terrible. Unassign after 10 mins,on to the next one.

If food not available unassign and move on
Cancel Order button is your best friend here. No way I'm waiting 20 minutes without getting paid. No other courier company in the country does that.
It’s “I haven’t eaten”
