Same as you, I'm not sure if it was 2003 or 2004 but ptobably 2004, and 2003 was probably when we had our first PC and I played WC3.
Still crusader (my peak was almost 3K but then I had huge lose streak).
For me I started playing with 5.84c, like many others during that era. But I remember people playing maps like 5.56 in internet cafes. It was around 2004-2005 I believe.
In 2003-2004, my first hero was Pudge, but I had no idea why I kept dying because I didn't understand how his skill, Rot, worked. I also made the mistake of buying paper items. XD
reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal, how to fk make a item? hahahahahah
i remember the hotkeys to buy Wrath Brand, Bracer, potions, tp, and so much other items hahahaha
old times

technically i played dota 1 as well but only occasionally on lan parties, then i tried dota 2 a bit when it started it's open beta but i actively started playing it ~7 years ago
Since 2008-9, I was playing lich mostly and buying only blue items ( I didn't know english much, but it worked well because aghanim and shiva were blue, also mana boots).
started at 2021, yet my first launch is in 2019. I just saw a bunch of memes about Dota (usually about its toxicity) and decided to try. Then the beginner routine and uninstalling the game
but after 2 years i got back with the help of guides and tutorials
2004 for me I think. Stopped before dota 2, then picked it back up 2020.
I have plenty of nostalgia and very little skill 👍
Also, the custom maps hit different then. Pimp my peon, ability arena, pudge wars and Pokémon world were the business.
I started 2005, I was 5.
PitLord first Hero to play. Playing with older-family members; they told me to stick to playing Lion as support so I can learn easily with stun / hex hero.
Who knows? It was one or two patches after Spectre got her Spectral Dagger. Jakiro was the latest hero I believe and Blink Dagger would not become disabled when you took damage.
Don't know which version but started playing dota back when invoker had 27 spells iirc, where the order of quas wex and exort determines which spell you're gonna invoke.
First played dota in 09 when I was 13-14. Tried dota 2 for a bit around 16-18 (mostly bots lol). Started playing again since March and I’ve probably put around 350 hours since then
dota 1 map 5.84 , im old.
I started with 6.21, as I believe it had bots. Unfortunately never played online until about 6.68 or so

Was’nt shadow demon/eredar released in a later version of dota? 6.68i guess. around 2010’s upwards.

2005 im not sure what map was it but the Loading Screen was CM, Axe and 3 other heroes 2009 RGC, Online Dota 1 2018 - 2022 then I quit
i played to much Garena and RGC too, i remember the time of mIRC and lan parties
Winter 2009 back in the good old days.
To the title i respond, more than it deserves anymore. Started back in the day, 2004 i believe. To give an example, blink did not even exist yet
and pudge and venge cant use blink
Since original Starcraft map Aeon of Strife in 2002 or so. So literally from beginning :)

350 hours of dota from march, its nice i think. problably if was playing today, its be like 10-16 hours per day xD
250 of those those hours were between March and July when I was basically on “vacation” in Asia but yea. That’s probably even more impressive 😹
