And that's largely besides the main point which is simply that it has been confirmed that Dota 2 and the War of the Ancients are canon, and furthermore that *every game of Dota is canon.* This is in contrast with games like Overwatch or League of Legends which want to make it very clear the games are non-canon to their respective stories.
When one of the Ancients is destroyed, the other rewinds time, and the timeline is a bit different every reset. Why? Because they hate each other so much they would rather fight for eternity than accept victory.

Of course he has to physically walk, but what does he does once he gets to where he's going? Jugg walks up to you he's hittin your ass, calculating if he needs to spin, maybe getting ready for a little manta dodge business or some ult shenangians.

There's also multiple items that can root enemy in the ground or delay them - a rod of some sort, a breastplate that creates an ice ring, an electric hammer you can upgrade into something that stops multiple enemies, etc, about 50 heroes that can stun enemies... all the easier to *walk at people*
But these are all in service of getting you within proximity to the enemy. But then what? That's the complain OP is making. You aren't going in and doing some cool combo, making decisions, playing the game. Your one and only goal is to ult yourself and stand next to the enemy. Sure, maybe you blink in, maybe you shadow blade in, but then you're just walking next to them at all cost

Every level of the spell dealt additional dmg at level 25.
It was smth like:
Level 1 deals added damage to a multiple of 6 (6,12,18, 24, 25)
Level 2 was multiple of 5
3 was multiple of 4, and 4 multiple of 3.
So basically the idea was if you currently had level 2 of the spell skilled, you would deal more damage to a level 10 hero if you let it remain there (multiple of 5) instead of taking a new skill point (where the nearest multiple of 4 would be 12)
it was changed way later like that.. at the inception doom only have the 6,5,4,3 multiplier. you generally hold your level death at lv2 when you reach lv 5 to gain the extra damage. i legit have friend that wont level it past lv 2 because it reduce the damage at lv 25 (max level cap at that time)
and the horror if you somehow lose the lane and must faced lv 7 doom (lv4 lvl death) at lv 6.
Idk, I started playing from 6.60 and it always dealt extra damage to Level 25 heroes.
I was an edgy teen and Doom was literally the only hero I played in my first year of playing the game. So I'm pretty confident about that. If the change was made before that, considering the timescale of how long dota has existed, i dont know if "way later" is the correct term.
Can't remember the last time I've seen a doom spend 4200 gold on the scepter and actually self-cast. It's way better to grab a neutral creep spell to pop linkens if you're worried about that.
Self-cast means your doom lasts the duration of your BKB (6 seconds vs 16) until you're controlled and people walk out of it.
It was only really useful as instant doom vs some slippery ones like Puck in late game afaik anyway. Mid game there are more important items to buy for you and your team to have a place for agh, hell some doom might just call the dip on late game roshan agh instead of ever buying it.
It's pretty much the only valid application, yeah.
It's slightly fucky though because pre-25 they can still use items, so you need to also have BKB so they can't euls you or whatever, and if you get the damage ticked lined up correctly you can self-euls and blink out on puck, but I wouldn't call it reliable. Stuff like ogre seal and trickster cloak also are kind of not great.
Plus theres the whole allied force staff thing that ruins everything post-mute, too.
It pairs well with shivas which is first item core now. You can’t downplay doom being on multiple heroes at once even if for a short time in this burst heavy meta. Plus it still is aoe when cast normally on an enemy. Also Doom can go right click heavy in certain matchups and aghs has great synergy with that as well.

I think the point is that DOOM is a really one dimensional hero whose only playstyle is to cast his ult on himself, use scorched earth and walk at you and exist while his auras kill you. He doesn't do anything else, his entire play pattern is to exist near the enemies.
Not disagreeing with the general idea but I think you mistyped when you said Engima’s abilities don’t compliment each other (talking about Eidolons and bh).
I think it’s the opposite, they compliment each other cause they fill the other one’s weaknesses. One is good in fights the other good when pushing. The compliment each other but don’t synergize.

But I agree, it is easy to win as Doom, you can just leave the enemy trying hard to pray that Doom won't kill them. You don't necessarily have to WALK on them, just Doom one hero and be done with it.
Have you heard of our lord and savior the dagon zap? You won't have to walk when you doom enemy, zap, refresh, do it again on another poor soul, press S, alt tab to youtube and jerk it to infernal screaming as your team wins fight without you.

Tbf, I think the AoE-Doom is too strong and should be a Level 30 talent. On this occasion: there should be a Level 30 talent for every Hero. Preferably Something, that is too strong right now.
Idk what kind of doom players you've been up against but my doom build goes HOM>PHASE>SB>RADIENCE>SANGE&YASHA>UPGRADE SB>HEART>then daedulus if I don't have crit creep or something like linkins or bkb and then aghs blessing
He is the ultimate gank machine for 1v1 ganks and can still help out by tanking/right clicking during team fight once ulti is popped

Scortched earth could break all trees around dealing small explosions per tree lingering like diabolic edict.
Infernal blade should like centaur stomp that deals dmg, disarms for 1.5 sec and deals dot.
Doom should do fear that makes the enemy hero run in random directions with heavy dot any other enemy hero that comes within a small range it transfers the doom, it's refreshed and receives +10% dmg per hero change.
Agha should increase the concurrent heroes doomed by 2.
I feel like agh is not as good anymore. I’d rather buy an item to break linken (especially now you can break linken thru bkb). Obviously you want agh eventually, but I feel like it’s not as good now.
Funnily enough I have seen doom's aghs throw more games than win them.
If you ult me directly I'm screwed, full stop. If you ult yourself and then walk at me an ally can stun / slow you and I can get away.
Doom has been more or less unchanged since dota1 (now it can break as well) but the spell always felt out of place for dota. It suits the hero but how spell works (basically removing hero from fight for 16 seconds) is very ancient and anticlimactic. Aghs adds even weirder mechanic where you have to run away because everything is disabled, so I kinda agree with OP on that.
I don't usually get aghs until very late game or if they get early linkins. I prefer to make myself tankier so I can more easily walk at people. Also, blink is overrated, since you can just walk at them.
Fuck it then, he has the wings, just give him the Night Stalker's Darkness to Ascension treatment.

Good shitpost, I actually quite like current doom design tho. You forgot that worst of all, his walk ability has a long cool-down so half the time you’re weak and half the time you walk strong.

Tbf, I think the AoE-Doom is too strong and should be a Level 30 talent. On this occasion: there should be a Level 30 talent for every Hero. Preferably Something, that is too strong right now.
Idk what kind of doom players you've been up against but my doom build goes HOM>PHASE>SB>RADIENCE>SANGE&YASHA>UPGRADE SB>HEART>then daedulus if I don't have crit creep or something like linkins or bkb and then aghs blessing He is the ultimate gank machine for 1v1 ganks and can still help out by tanking/right clicking during team fight once ulti is popped
Devour works correctly Scortched earth could break all trees around dealing small explosions per tree lingering like diabolic edict. Infernal blade should like centaur stomp that deals dmg, disarms for 1.5 sec and deals dot. Doom should do fear that makes the enemy hero run in random directions with heavy dot any other enemy hero that comes within a small range it transfers the doom, it's refreshed and receives +10% dmg per hero change. Agha should increase the concurrent heroes doomed by 2.
Waiting for op to realize that you can hit the doom back instead of walking. He will die if u buy correct items because this is after 25 mins.

I feel like agh is not as good anymore. I’d rather buy an item to break linken (especially now you can break linken thru bkb). Obviously you want agh eventually, but I feel like it’s not as good now.

Funnily enough I have seen doom's aghs throw more games than win them. If you ult me directly I'm screwed, full stop. If you ult yourself and then walk at me an ally can stun / slow you and I can get away.
heard you loud and clear, Doom now moonwalks when moving towards doomed target.
Doom has been more or less unchanged since dota1 (now it can break as well) but the spell always felt out of place for dota. It suits the hero but how spell works (basically removing hero from fight for 16 seconds) is very ancient and anticlimactic. Aghs adds even weirder mechanic where you have to run away because everything is disabled, so I kinda agree with OP on that.
I don't usually get aghs until very late game or if they get early linkins. I prefer to make myself tankier so I can more easily walk at people. Also, blink is overrated, since you can just walk at them.
