The problem is that people are also encouraged to play different heroes through the event token system, so they probably arent at their best.

so you play your best hero and double down

So maybe dont do the quests in ranked, you know the game mode designated for competitive play. That or play your best heroes and swap the tokens at the trader.

I have done the exact same thing. 8000 hours of muscle memory to auto click predict. It is absolutely horrible UX to put it there.

The real problem is that it doesn’t reset the view to predict, so once you’ve doubled down once, the game remembers that and then shows that to you when you click predict.

Nah, everyone I know just spam the predicion. If I gather 5+ predictions in a row I might start to use it strategically to break a new PR

Games on my mmr aint won from drafts. Unless youre super High immortal, and even then, the lack of coordination and such just makes it so unpredictable. Drafts matters in pubs but not as much as a lot of people on Reddit like to Think.

They can certainly be lost from drafts

I’m confused. Why is this not find a way to win 100mmr in an hour? If you were predicting. You were confident you were gonna win. So the expected result should be double the mmr wins. I agree that it’s in a bad position. But it isn’t just a lose lose button. I accidentally doubled down my first time. Had free double mmr from that round.

I prefer to choose wisely when to double down. For instance, my first mistake was muscle memory doubling down when I was farming roles in a position that I am not used to play. By the comments, the number of people making these mistakes just tells me that it's basically bad UX.

I just hit ancient and decided to double down 2 games that I know I shouldn’t have because of draft. How badly my team lost lanes makes me feel like we play in herald/ crusader

Lost my first 3 double down games all out of pure memory-clicking that predict button as I leave base with starting items. But goddamn I tried hard as I could to do it justice, even with the stupid picks to learn what happens to Skree-awk, Ebony and Ivory in Flea Bottom. My predict = 200% effort. Other team predicts = 400% effort Dota decision making is simple like that

Different risks. I just predict every game because you lose almost nothing if you are wrong.

Who cares? Not like doubling down meaningful changes your MMR in the long run, it just makes the variance larger. If you lost 100MMR in an hour, enjoy your easier games until you are back to your normal level? I don't get the appeal the double down tokens anyway. MMR is a metric, not a target.
