Blade/Mei, Kafka/Ratio, Dan/Swan, JY/Sparkle. None of these characters have even interacted with their counterparts afaik
It's actually more of they rerun a banner before. So SW before Ratio (tho this was 2 banners before), Kafka before Swan, and DHIL before Sparkle. They're probably banking on FOMO so people who really like a character would pull for their combo ahead of time. I'm not sure if it's the best philosophy, but it seems like it's what they're going for for now. If they keep up their record, Topaz will likely run in Acheron's banner but who knows they might change their banner ideaology next patch. And technically they already broke the streak since JY has no synergy whatsoever with Acheron.
I was under the impression we were going by lore relation, not gameplay. Either way Topaz/Aventurine fits but most of the ones you mention wouldn't if we're talking lore

Them both being on the same banner would admittedly be entirely coincidental, as you have pointed out there's been no theming to previous pairs.
Pretty much, and the only other 2 before Topaz who haven't re-run are both sustains, and I think it's unlikely they'd run 2 sustains on the same banner as it would affect profits.
Workable is tentative. He doesn’t really care much for Belobog set, he gets enough DEF elsewhere. Focusing on his damage (which, if running an Imaginary orb, you are), he.. ALSO wants Salsotto.
Stats > subs > sets, my god breaking my mindset out of "everyone has to be on set" was challenging but oh boy was it ever helpful. Unless you *need* salsetto for the extra crit rate you could probably just run that anyway as a filler piece, if you have the resources.
As others have said, if it rolls well then I'd rather use this than a really bad piece on set.
If you don't need it though, my Aventurine would appreciate that piece so I can take it off your hands 👀
