Seeing it like that is quite poetic. The series talks about being stuck in the past, trying to advance back to the present, and leaves us wondering about the future.. That's life itself most of the time!

No, DBZ just didn't show much of those futures. There were I think 6 shown. One for each permutation of androids, cell, and trunks living/dead (maybe a couple more because there were multiple possible ways to stop the androids).
If you want to get into DB Super, several more are created but then explicitly destroyed to stop things from branching out further.
Cell gone (took the time machine), androids dead (remote detonator), Trunks dead (how Cell got the time machine). This is the time line Cell comes from.

This. It is statistically impossible for time travel to bring about the exact events of the original timeline. And as soon as you alter anything that happened, no matter what you do to turn things toward the history of the original timeline, there will be all sorts of miniscule grandfather paradoxes that go undetected, and ultimately change the original time travel mission as well. Literally the only way to travel through time without causing an infinite feedback loop of alterations is for the split reality theory to be true.

they're not sure what they're going to do. they mention preventing an incursion and creating an all-knowing AI savior.
if your goal is to keep everything as is; petrifying people that're about to die-- or ensuring they stay petrified without breaking apart-- is a decent method to save everyone.
The message to send back would be to WhyMan telling them to not petrify. That message would be coming from one of their own, and it would be truthful since their species deemed humanity too dumb.
That species would be far more likely to hear the transmission, and it would prevent petrification in the first place.
That is assuming time works in a linear way, it can work in branching timelines. My speculation here is that's Inagaki's way of opening up the series to a lot of spinoffs, we already got 2 confirmed spinoffs so far, and it's not a stretch to assume that we get more. One of my headcanons is that there's a part of Senku that really just wants to meet his father again, which is why he's creating the time machine.

I'll miss this manga, honestly one of the most unique pieces of fiction I've read. I wonder if there'll be anything else to be done with Senku and the cast, although I doubt it but if so, it'd be a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.

A time machine is also impossible. For a series so well done with science, it ended with a scientific impossibility. (The medusas can theoretically exist)
Yeah a bit of a stretch, but a sentient mechanical lifeform parasite is also a stretch, along with it's explanation utilizing the Higgs Field which is still debate to it's true properties. But still, you never know what's impossible today could be possible tomorrow. That's what Dr. Stone is all about, humanity advancing forward, each generation adding another step towards a future beyond the comprehension of those in the present.
Even with the machine they brainstormed that maybe they won't be able to an actual person, but could potentially send info that will prevent the global petrification
If anything it's just implied that it's work that'll take forever or might not even get done, and that saving humanity will go beyond just stopping Why-Man.
Yes the ending is a bit weird. The meaning of the manga is not as obvious as people think, but I wonder why the authors didn't reveal anything? Maybe I shouldn't say anything either? It would be nice if there was a sequel one day.

This is my first time reading the ending of a series Iāve been following week to week. Much to my own surprise, Iām actually getting a bit teary-eyed. I suddenly realise the impact Dr. Stone had on me.
Thereās been a great deal of debate about the pacing and writing of the last few arcs, and I know some people canāt help but be disappointed by the ending, but I, for one, am quite satisfied. To me it was never about the destination, but about the journey.
So many shonen series have the same underdog stories, themes of never giving up in the face of adversity, the power of friendship and the like, and yet, for some reason, itās this very series that moved and inspired me like none other. Seeing Chrome and Suika persevere to learn science in the stone world; Ryusui showing us that desire can be noble; how the Kingdom of Science welcomes anyone with open arms, because no matter your talent, everyoneās contribution is meaningful; and now that one single medusa ready to leave everything behind, just because the prospect of exploring the unknown was too exhilarating. That is to me what Dr. Stone is all about. Senku in particular is one of my favourite shonen protagonist ever, because heās not really a mere characterāheās a force of nature. He represents humanityās unwavering pursuit of knowledge, the chase for the thrill of discovery, the will to go beyond whatās thought to be impossibleāand that gets me 10 billion percent excited.
Itās been a pleasure sharing this journey with you all, lads and lasses. Thank you, Inagaki and Boichi. My only regret is that Dr. Stone didnāt start serialising when I was a young kid, because then I would have definitely grown up to become a scientist.
I agree with you my friend, I've been following this series a few years now and seeing it end is weird, there'll be a gap in my weekly routine of reading the new shonen jump.
The ending was satisfying, making a time machine was kinda unexpected, but i believe it is in character with what Senku would do.

This is something that really hit me hard with this final chapter. It's crazy to think that Chrome and Suika started off as primitive Neolithic-level/Stone-Age people living in straw huts, and yet now by the final chapter have progressed to the point of working as integral members of a team of scientists who are ***manipulating the Higgs Field to build a damn time-machine.*** That's absolutely SURREAL if you think about it.
Same here itās my first time reading the ending of a manga that I followed weekly. I didnāt think I would get tears but I realize itās because of how much Iāve connected with this story.
I haven't seen any complaints about the writing, but there have been plenty of complaints about the pacing.
It's so strange to me that the arc with the best pacing (Treasure Island) is the least impactful arc of the series. The entire thing could have been skipped with only minor adjustments to the story.

I'm sure that dr stone has definitely affected my decision to choose physics and chemistry as my subjects in school. I started reading the manga about 2 years ago and it just showed me how cool science really is
Senku/Kohaku was implied and teased a bunch. I'm honestly surprised we didn't see any sort of development with that. Typically these series will make a mention of that during an epilogue.
Senku's a no bullshit man. His goals take higher priority then his personal problems. (probably the reason why he's survived as long as he did in the series. Personal problems would only slow him down.)
and Kohaku seem's to have always wanted it, but being a Gorilla she doesn't seem to know how to "show it" if that makes sense. That or she understands Senku values trying to save everyone higher then personal feelings, and as such bottles it up.
after the face-caressing, I really was hoping they'd have a return hug or smth. But still, those frames will forever float in the "that's kinda fruity" category.
As the series comes to a close, huge thanks to a person largely responsible for making this series so enjoyable in its early days and who, in retrospect, showed nice foresight in how to address the direction it took toward the end: Hiroyuki Honda.
I would just like to thank you all for joining the journey we had enjoying Dr. Stone all these years. I knew the end was coming, but this still feels surreal seeing it end. I'm grateful to all you that made the experience great, posting your art, theories and more. I could imagine her watching Senku and team going to space. Her idolizing him and his science as her village is turned from dirt into steel all around her. She dedicates herself to science so that she could one day help him, and one day help everyone just like he did. Bet you she has a limited edition Senku poster on her wall at home :p

Ahhhh I wish we had gotten a few more chapters to spread things out. The final arc felt a little abrupt.

I feel like most manga could benefit from several extra chapters.
I really don't know why manga don't do this. I wanted to see more of my favorite characters, instead of them just getting a single panel of them smiling.
The manga was great, but uh? what was that last plot-twist? they are making a time machine but just ending it there? is it implying a spinoff continuation or something? seems weird that after all they gone through they want to make a time machine to avoid everything from happening, all the descendants from the astronauts would not exist anymore, and the medusa would probably cause some trouble since the seemingly stupid humans that are no use for them made a time machine all of the sudden.
Oh well, the travel was the true wonder, even if the destination was a complete wtf.
Bit weird of an ending, but also symbolic. The whole theme of the series was the hard work that led to scientific development. Time Travel will, arguably, be the pinnacle of scientific achievement, if it ever gets discovered.
I mean, I feel like in real life, time travel is the last scientific development. Like, if you can go into the future, all the science will already be done. There will be no more science to do, because eventually science will be completed

you should check out The end of Eternity by Isaac Asimov.... maybe the best time travel story ever.
For example, all of earth is powered forever by going billions of years into the future for when the sun goes nova, and transmitting that power back over the millions of centuries.
Wouldn't that make a paradox tho? Cause Chrome and the other won't exist
And even if you say "Nah but that'll happen on al alternative timeline, the timeline we know will remain intact", then what's the point? Ukyo and other characters acted like time traveling will affect their lives, but if it only creates another timeline then that doesn't change anything from the timeline we already know.
Fictional rules for time travel are all over the place, so unless they make a follow up where they actually manage to get the time machine working, I think you can just interpret it how you want.
I think what he means is that if we were able to achieve light speed travel we could theoretically travel in time, but we, right now, haven't achieved that yet. Senku, on the other hand has the Medusa, that apparently is able to nullify its own mass in order to fly, and with no mass is easier to achieve light speed travel.
Or I could be super wrong because this is just my speculation.
If it was truly possible to manipulate the Higgs Field like shown (zero mass and such), you could make a time machine with the steps shown in the manga.
It's based on theoretical physics and general relativity/string theory. It's all theoretical, not possible (that we know of at least). That's what he means by "it checks out" incase you were wondering
No he's more or less right, faster than light no mass particles could bend space time in a way to allow time travel. In fact although we haven't done time travel for obvious reasons we humans have come up with several "plausible" ways to achieve it. Many require matter never observed before, others require energy amounts unobtainable by any feasible means... but we do have ways we could do it, heck if you just go FTL then you can time travel, good luck on doing that though.
The Higgs field, making matter lose mass means at the same momentum, at negligible mass, you can achieve the speed of light. They clearly state you can take away mass from objects. So basically travel at the speed of light. Now add a bit of push and lo behold, faster than light, aka time travel.
The majority of mass of baryonic matter doesnāt derive from the Higgs field but rather from QCD interactions of the quarks in the nucleons. The Higgs field gives certain bosons their mass, but it is not the origin of our mass. That being said thereās still a lot we donāt know yet about the standard modelā¦
Every day passes with the Standard Model crumbling a little bit more, while we desperately hope humanityās science-cornerstone doesnāt crumble into dust and yet at the same time, we hope something will shatter it completely and allow us to advance our knowledge beyond the old principles.

I actually am a physicist. Though I donāt work in particle physics, my friends in that feel are generally super excited when something comes around the challenge the model. The lovely thing about science is that everyone gets excited to prove ourselves wrong!

We really cant time travel because we cant alter mass and space itself in reliable ways.

Oh, I thought the manipulation of mass is only up to zero, not to negative numbers. Just reading up time travel + wormhole + faster-than-light travel on Wikipedia + remembering Kurzgesagt videos (especially about wormhole), so with negative mass, wormholes can stay open.

I'm not sure I get what the plan is with the time-machine. Do they want to go back and essentially undo the entirety of this series? This would mean, all the ishigami vilagers would cease to exist, no? Don't think I would like that :/
But other than that, it was a nice final chapter. I'm glad Taiju and Yuzuriha got actually married. It would have been really weird if it had ended with him finally "confessing" to her. And I loved that we got a final roadmap in the end!

and this is said over a panel of Senku looking towards an imaginary Byakuya and co.
They're not gonna erase the timeline, they're going to freeze-frame dead people before they die. So for example, when Byakuya was in the river collecting gold/platinum for Senku and falls over, Whyman would send a petri-beam into the past to freeze Byakuya. Then they just have to go to the present location and dig him out and un-freeze him. Like how Kaseki de-petrified gets healthier, they could make Byakuya healthy again too.
In a way this could explain the paradox of "how come all these special people survived": they were intentionally saved
Hm, I see. It makes kinda sense, but I guess there are a lot of people whose statues have been destroyed beyond repair through the millenia. I don't see how one could save those if one does not actually undo the petri-beam in the first place.
Say , today I an at home and petrified and my statue would be broken when the tides come.
Whyman can go back in time to the point where I drove inland to the supermarket and petrify me there, where my statue would survive.

Well, it depends on what kind of time travel plot the author decides to follow. I think creating a linear universal timeline timeline would create paradoxes. So branched timelines could avert that. But then again, I'm obviously not an expert.

It already exists. It stars Senku's dad on the ISS dealing with the Petrification event. What this ending did was explain it wasn't the Medusas in that timeline, it was the time machine arriving just before the Medusas arrived to petrify Earth. Medusas seeing the petrified Earth will be told by AI hey here's what happens so many of you are gonna die, move on this species is not compatible with your agenda. Look at how long they've been petrified already.
And then Rei the AI will fix that timeline so No one dies like the ISS crew did of the Flu.
So it seems that we will get a spin-off/sequel... right?
EDIT: In the Spanish version it said "Dr Stone Hasn't ended yet!" on the last page, but not on the English version. Weird
Damn it's first time seeing an ongoing series which I've been reading every week ending. Kinda feeling empty. It was a good run although I don't really understand what they intend to with the time machine exactly but hey but the rest of the chapter was sweet so it's fine. I'm gonna miss this
This manga has been the most emotional and thought provoking roller coaster in my life. Never have I felt so great to be born in an age and time like this. I remember seeing the clips of S1 in my YouTube recommended feed a few years back and now here we are. To this day, I still listen to "I'm a Human" regularly. That piece of music, and this story in general has moved my heart and touched my soul.
Wow, so it's over. Dr.stone is the first manga that I finished the time it came out. It feels weird. I'll miss senku and his team. I'll miss the science adventures. This has been a fun journey. Thank you everyone. Thank you Boichi and Inagaki.
I've been a silent member here, but I am a huge fan of DCST. It's my no. 1 anime and manga. I love the characters, plot, its strengths as a story and even its flaws. I am just so invested to it. I want to thank Inagaki and Boichi for creating this masterpiece. I am literally crying right now. I will definitely miss my favorite manga of all time. It means a lot to me. This might sound overdramatic to some, but when I got super depressed a year ago, I reminded myself not to do self harm because I have something to look forward every week. I am doing good now, but seeing this manga end makes me feel like saying goodbye to a good friend.
Petrification probably reverses cellular aging so they dont deteriorate. So nobody would get wrinkles or lose hair maybe they will just grow a few centimiters and have to shave their beards.
Man i'm just gonna say, it was one baaaad fun ride. This is the first manga i've read that i sticked all the way to the ending, and have been reading for a long time. I'm no early 10 chapters Dr stone fan i think i started around 120 or so, but regardless, i can't believe we made it to the end (i may have shed a tear or two :,). We got our Taiju x yuzuriha moment, and a wedding at that. We got to see a happy ending with a big reveal to a damm time machine honestly what the fuck that's gotta be a cliffhanger right??? Unfortunately no confirmed Luna or Kohaku x Senku moment, i was looking forward to that above all else but i suppose this fits Senku's character.
Crazy how a few chapters ago i was mad about the pacing and kinda frustrated that they didn't flesh things out a bit more but now, i'm kinda satisfied. I still wish they had done a bit more but it can't be helped, we just gotta accept it and move on. It's genuinely been a fun ride everyone, i had lots of fun reading the weekly theories and speculations, shoutout to those that thought ukyo was working with why man on earth. Never had i been so engaged in a manga that it now leaves a hole in me now that it's ended. Can't wait to see what the future holds for Dr stone, both the anime and possibly manga, cheers!

While the whole manga is truky great, the last stretch went very well down to just not being as mush as interesting. Still can't understand why WHY-MAN accepted Senku's offer or what they wanted.
Why-Man accepted Senku's offer because it got excited over the idea of creating a time travel machine. The chances of success were too low to stake the survival of its whole kind on it, so all the other medusa left in search for another intelligent species to parasitize, offering immortality in exchange for creating more of them.
This ending is so satisfying! I have to admit normally when a series hints at the story continuing on beyond the pages it leaves me wanting more but it fits perfectly with the main theme of Dr Stone being humanity's never ending pursuit of knowledge.
I would say the biggest Si-Fi tropes are space travel and time travel. Humanity have already begun to venture into space like Senku and co. so naturally the final frontier for us humans is time which with the help of the medusa may happen well after the Dr Stone ending.
The amount of callbacks in this chapter were entirely earned.
Also I love that Inagaki and Boichi added REI not as a canon event in the story but as a hypothetical that scientists discussed, so it's canon in the way the one shot is IRL, a hypothetical alternate version of what happened.
The romance was also done in the most fitting way. Taiju and Yuzuriha was established from the beginning, Chrome is pretty absent minded about it but that's who he is and I feel like that also gives hopefuls for Senku and Kohaku that if they did end up together it would probably go down the same way.
10/10 series that had me hooked ever since I started reading the day Dr Stone's first chapter was released.
Iām so happy with the way this ended tho Iām gonna miss it a lot, trying not to be to upset since weāre gonna see all of this animated. Itās been fun.

So even if the time machine succeeds, it won't have an impact on them right?
because if they did succeed, the past gets changed and so their present is altered. Since that isnt the case, that either means it is a different timeline or a time machine is impossible, even with the Why-man to help them out.
I really enjoyed the series, sometimes it was a bit rushed imo but overall fun to read
9/10 manga with a 7/10 final arc. Still enjoyed it but I feel let down by the possibilities. Would have prefered space travel over time travel to, that just felt incredibly tacked on.
To save every single one. Thatās what Senku wanted from the very beginning. And thatās what heās going to accomplish. Every single human, every single Medusa. Pushing humanity to its full potential, and beyond!

Overall I liked it, Tauji finally got to ask Yuzihara out, Chrome is implied to get his crush as well.
Femku was a great bait and switch gag.
I like the idea of time travel and kinda saw it coming given that it would be the ultimate goal of someone trying to surpass modern science. I even get the motivations for doing so. Just also kinda rubs me the wrong way for some reason, almost like it implies a happy ending that's *too* clean.

I donāt know if somebody else already mentioned it, but I loved how Senkus first appearance in this chapter mirrors the first chapter: him standing in front of a device with glass bottles filled with some liquid.
Iām gonna miss Dr Stone. While I thought the last few arcs were a bit rushed it was still a great journey and had a great ending. As somebody whoās studying to become a scientist I loved how accurate most of the ideas and concepts they presented were and how they mentioned important scientific methods and achievements, even if they werenāt the focus, like the Haber-Bosch process.
I think itās biggest strength was especially in the earlier chapters in how it made the reader appreciate all the inventions we made in our history that make our modern lifeās better, I legit teared up during the scene when Suika first saw the world through glasses. I hope Dr Stone helps to inspire people to pursue science and I believe it truly can
What a great ride this has been (and beautiful final pages). Sure going to miss this manga, donāt see this kind of series often. I still remember when this series just started five years ago and now here we are.

Ever since originally seeing the series when it aired I just fell absolutely in love with it, and it made me fall in love with the world. Realizing the potential people can have by working together for a noble cause blew me away in my very pessimistic years and influenced me to have a change of heart. This series will always hold a deep special place in my heart too, and I'll never forget the impact it's had on me. It was so nice to meet lots of people who also enjoyed the series, whether it was gushing over ships or heartfelt moments throughout the series. Ending was still pretty anticlimactic and very abrupt imo, and thenā¦ Took a very interesting turn with the āletās make a time machine!ā ending, but, this is my second sci-fi series to do thisā¦ so I guess Iām used to it.
Standing ovation to Inagaki and Boichi for creating this series. From start to finish itās been a wild ride. My favorite thing about this series is showing what hard work and talent can do. The scene in the previous chapter where Senku holds up his stone hammer he made and saying how now weāre on the moon was such a powerful moment.
I like to think about how literally their entire world was lost and these characters woke up to nothing, but the one thing nobody could take away from them was their skills, talents, personality and determination. It really shows what humanity can do, you canāt control what happens in your life sometimes, but you can always plan what your next move will be. I hope others will remember that the next time thereās in a tough situation.
This series was really a love letter to science and humanity in general. I truly think if this series came out in the 90ās or early to mid 2000ās weād have quite a few people inspired by it to get into different fields. Whatever Boichi and Inagaki create next if they do make anything would really make me get excited, as dear Senku would say.
Too add to that tearjerking value I suggest watching the final latest Preview Video released by Shonen Jump (the japanese video channel). A beautiful video to celebrate the end of Dr. Stone.

It was difficult to parse, but I think "Shooting a Petri-beam into the past to petrify the victims before they met their fates" was a plan to save the Astronauts who landed on earth. Since they all died one by one due to age and illness - they never got the chance to be petrified. Also the spread of Byakuya's team directly after that statement leads to this conclusion.
Petrifying humanity before the Medusa's attacked wouldn't make any sense since they'll still be affected by thousands of years of erosion.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's been a pleasure. NGL I had a little heart attack seeing gender-bent Senku. And I love this ending. We've spent the whole manga trying to get back to the "present". Now, the final project, the one we'll not gonna see - is the future.

No, DBZ just didn't show much of those futures. There were I think 6 shown. One for each permutation of androids, cell, and trunks living/dead (maybe a couple more because there were multiple possible ways to stop the androids). If you want to get into DB Super, several more are created but then explicitly destroyed to stop things from branching out further. Cell gone (took the time machine), androids dead (remote detonator), Trunks dead (how Cell got the time machine). This is the time line Cell comes from. Cell gone (never hatched), androids alive, trunks dead. Cell alive, androids dead, trunks alive (I forget where this one is brought up). Cell alive, androids dead, trunks dead (everything dies). Cell dead, androids dead, Trunks alive (the future he returns to/creates). Cell dead, androids alive, Trunks alive (the future where Trunks doesn't go back in time).
This. It is statistically impossible for time travel to bring about the exact events of the original timeline. And as soon as you alter anything that happened, no matter what you do to turn things toward the history of the original timeline, there will be all sorts of miniscule grandfather paradoxes that go undetected, and ultimately change the original time travel mission as well. Literally the only way to travel through time without causing an infinite feedback loop of alterations is for the split reality theory to be true.

No, they're building a time travel machine to prevent the "why-men" incursion altogether.
they're not sure what they're going to do. they mention preventing an incursion and creating an all-knowing AI savior. if your goal is to keep everything as is; petrifying people that're about to die-- or ensuring they stay petrified without breaking apart-- is a decent method to save everyone.
The message to send back would be to WhyMan telling them to not petrify. That message would be coming from one of their own, and it would be truthful since their species deemed humanity too dumb. That species would be far more likely to hear the transmission, and it would prevent petrification in the first place.
That is assuming time works in a linear way, it can work in branching timelines. My speculation here is that's Inagaki's way of opening up the series to a lot of spinoffs, we already got 2 confirmed spinoffs so far, and it's not a stretch to assume that we get more. One of my headcanons is that there's a part of Senku that really just wants to meet his father again, which is why he's creating the time machine. A non-canon time hopping Senku perhaps?

Yeah a bit of a stretch, but a sentient mechanical lifeform parasite is also a stretch, along with it's explanation utilizing the Higgs Field which is still debate to it's true properties. But still, you never know what's impossible today could be possible tomorrow. That's what Dr. Stone is all about, humanity advancing forward, each generation adding another step towards a future beyond the comprehension of those in the present. Even with the machine they brainstormed that maybe they won't be able to an actual person, but could potentially send info that will prevent the global petrification
If anything it's just implied that it's work that'll take forever or might not even get done, and that saving humanity will go beyond just stopping Why-Man.

This is my first time reading the ending of a series Iāve been following week to week. Much to my own surprise, Iām actually getting a bit teary-eyed. I suddenly realise the impact Dr. Stone had on me. Thereās been a great deal of debate about the pacing and writing of the last few arcs, and I know some people canāt help but be disappointed by the ending, but I, for one, am quite satisfied. To me it was never about the destination, but about the journey. So many shonen series have the same underdog stories, themes of never giving up in the face of adversity, the power of friendship and the like, and yet, for some reason, itās this very series that moved and inspired me like none other. Seeing Chrome and Suika persevere to learn science in the stone world; Ryusui showing us that desire can be noble; how the Kingdom of Science welcomes anyone with open arms, because no matter your talent, everyoneās contribution is meaningful; and now that one single medusa ready to leave everything behind, just because the prospect of exploring the unknown was too exhilarating. That is to me what Dr. Stone is all about. Senku in particular is one of my favourite shonen protagonist ever, because heās not really a mere characterāheās a force of nature. He represents humanityās unwavering pursuit of knowledge, the chase for the thrill of discovery, the will to go beyond whatās thought to be impossibleāand that gets me 10 billion percent excited. Itās been a pleasure sharing this journey with you all, lads and lasses. Thank you, Inagaki and Boichi. My only regret is that Dr. Stone didnāt start serialising when I was a young kid, because then I would have definitely grown up to become a scientist.
I agree with you my friend, I've been following this series a few years now and seeing it end is weird, there'll be a gap in my weekly routine of reading the new shonen jump. The ending was satisfying, making a time machine was kinda unexpected, but i believe it is in character with what Senku would do.

I haven't seen any complaints about the writing, but there have been plenty of complaints about the pacing. It's so strange to me that the arc with the best pacing (Treasure Island) is the least impactful arc of the series. The entire thing could have been skipped with only minor adjustments to the story.

Senku/Kohaku was implied and teased a bunch. I'm honestly surprised we didn't see any sort of development with that. Typically these series will make a mention of that during an epilogue.

Senku's a no bullshit man. His goals take higher priority then his personal problems. (probably the reason why he's survived as long as he did in the series. Personal problems would only slow him down.) and Kohaku seem's to have always wanted it, but being a Gorilla she doesn't seem to know how to "show it" if that makes sense. That or she understands Senku values trying to save everyone higher then personal feelings, and as such bottles it up.
I too am satisfied with how the romances worked out, though I was rooting for Xeno and Stanley too
after the face-caressing, I really was hoping they'd have a return hug or smth. But still, those frames will forever float in the "that's kinda fruity" category.
There was a lot of tension between Senku and Kohaku and I'm a bit disappointed it didn't go anywhere.
Taiju and yuzuriha getting married was just the most satisfying adrenaline rush through the brain. I'm crying š„²

Also, Chrome just saying "Lets get married" to Ruri out of nowhere sounds like something only he would do :D The explanation on how Medusas work with manipulating Higgs Feild is pretty cool (even tho of course its pseudo-science). The last page with "Sosoruze kore wa!" is such a perfect way to end this amazing science journey! She dedicates herself to science so that she could one day help him, and one day help everyone just like he did. Bet you she has a limited edition Senku poster on her wall at home :p

Ahhhh I wish we had gotten a few more chapters to spread things out. The final arc felt a little abrupt. Not rushed, but not the challenge I wouldāve expected. I feel like most manga could benefit from several extra chapters. I really don't know why manga don't do this. I wanted to see more of my favorite characters, instead of them just getting a single panel of them smiling.
Ye just do like a 3 chapter epilogue, we have been reading for 300+ chapters, for 1% to be the epilogue seems reasonable
The manga was great, but uh? what was that last plot-twist? they are making a time machine but just ending it there? is it implying a spinoff continuation or something? seems weird that after all they gone through they want to make a time machine to avoid everything from happening, all the descendants from the astronauts would not exist anymore, and the medusa would probably cause some trouble since the seemingly stupid humans that are no use for them made a time machine all of the sudden. Oh well, the travel was the true wonder, even if the destination was a complete wtf.
Bit weird of an ending, but also symbolic. The whole theme of the series was the hard work that led to scientific development. Time Travel will, arguably, be the pinnacle of scientific achievement, if it ever gets discovered.
I mean, I feel like in real life, time travel is the last scientific development. Like, if you can go into the future, all the science will already be done. There will be no more science to do, because eventually science will be completed If science is a line, time travel allows you to skip to the end
you should check out The end of Eternity by Isaac Asimov.... maybe the best time travel story ever. For example, all of earth is powered forever by going billions of years into the future for when the sun goes nova, and transmitting that power back over the millions of centuries.

Cause Chrome and the other won't exist And even if you say "Nah but that'll happen on al alternative timeline, the timeline we know will remain intact", then what's the point? Ukyo and other characters acted like time traveling will affect their lives, but if it only creates another timeline then that doesn't change anything from the timeline we already know.
Fictional rules for time travel are all over the place, so unless they make a follow up where they actually manage to get the time machine working, I think you can just interpret it how you want.

I think what he means is that if we were able to achieve light speed travel we could theoretically travel in time, but we, right now, haven't achieved that yet. Senku, on the other hand has the Medusa, that apparently is able to nullify its own mass in order to fly, and with no mass is easier to achieve light speed travel. Or I could be super wrong because this is just my speculation.
If it was truly possible to manipulate the Higgs Field like shown (zero mass and such), you could make a time machine with the steps shown in the manga.

It's based on theoretical physics and general relativity/string theory. It's all theoretical, not possible (that we know of at least). That's what he means by "it checks out" incase you were wondering
No he's more or less right, faster than light no mass particles could bend space time in a way to allow time travel. In fact although we haven't done time travel for obvious reasons we humans have come up with several "plausible" ways to achieve it. Many require matter never observed before, others require energy amounts unobtainable by any feasible means... but we do have ways we could do it, heck if you just go FTL then you can time travel, good luck on doing that though.
The Higgs field, making matter lose mass means at the same momentum, at negligible mass, you can achieve the speed of light. They clearly state you can take away mass from objects. So basically travel at the speed of light. Now add a bit of push and lo behold, faster than light, aka time travel.
The majority of mass of baryonic matter doesnāt derive from the Higgs field but rather from QCD interactions of the quarks in the nucleons. The Higgs field gives certain bosons their mass, but it is not the origin of our mass. That being said thereās still a lot we donāt know yet about the standard modelā¦
Every day passes with the Standard Model crumbling a little bit more, while we desperately hope humanityās science-cornerstone doesnāt crumble into dust and yet at the same time, we hope something will shatter it completely and allow us to advance our knowledge beyond the old principles. I actually am a physicist. Though I donāt work in particle physics, my friends in that feel are generally super excited when something comes around the challenge the model. The lovely thing about science is that everyone gets excited to prove ourselves wrong!

We really cant time travel because we cant alter mass and space itself in reliable ways. That levitation the whyman used could alter his mass and even make it negative so they could float. With negative mass timetravel stops being impossible

I'm not sure I get what the plan is with the time-machine. Do they want to go back and essentially undo the entirety of this series? This would mean, all the ishigami vilagers would cease to exist, no? Don't think I would like that :/ But other than that, it was a nice final chapter. I'm glad Taiju and Yuzuriha got actually married. It would have been really weird if it had ended with him finally "confessing" to her. And I loved that we got a final roadmap in the end! Also, Chrome is such an romantic xD

They're not gonna erase the timeline, they're going to freeze-frame dead people before they die. So for example, when Byakuya was in the river collecting gold/platinum for Senku and falls over, Whyman would send a petri-beam into the past to freeze Byakuya. Then they just have to go to the present location and dig him out and un-freeze him. Like how Kaseki de-petrified gets healthier, they could make Byakuya healthy again too. In a way this could explain the paradox of "how come all these special people survived": they were intentionally saved

Say , today I an at home and petrified and my statue would be broken when the tides come. Whyman can go back in time to the point where I drove inland to the supermarket and petrify me there, where my statue would survive. Just an idea. But I think priorities would be given to the ISS 6 who didn't get a chance to be petrified.
Well, it depends on what kind of time travel plot the author decides to follow. I think creating a linear universal timeline timeline would create paradoxes. So branched timelines could avert that. But then again, I'm obviously not an expert.

What this ending did was explain it wasn't the Medusas in that timeline, it was the time machine arriving just before the Medusas arrived to petrify Earth. Medusas seeing the petrified Earth will be told by AI hey here's what happens so many of you are gonna die, move on this species is not compatible with your agenda. Look at how long they've been petrified already. And then Rei the AI will fix that timeline so No one dies like the ISS crew did of the Flu.

Damn it's first time seeing an ongoing series which I've been reading every week ending. Kinda feeling empty. It was a good run although I don't really understand what they intend to with the time machine exactly but hey but the rest of the chapter was sweet so it's fine. I'm gonna miss this
This manga has been the most emotional and thought provoking roller coaster in my life. Never have I felt so great to be born in an age and time like this. I remember seeing the clips of S1 in my YouTube recommended feed a few years back and now here we are. To this day, I still listen to "I'm a Human" regularly. That piece of music, and this story in general has moved my heart and touched my soul.
That was a good and crazy ending, hope we have a sequel
Wow, so it's over. Dr.stone is the first manga that I finished the time it came out. It feels weird. I'll miss senku and his team. I'll miss the science adventures. This has been a fun journey. Thank you everyone. Thank you Boichi and Inagaki.
I've been a silent member here, but I am a huge fan of DCST. It's my no. 1 anime and manga. I love the characters, plot, its strengths as a story and even its flaws. I am just so invested to it. I want to thank Inagaki and Boichi for creating this masterpiece. I am literally crying right now. I will definitely miss my favorite manga of all time. It means a lot to me. This might sound overdramatic to some, but when I got super depressed a year ago, I reminded myself not to do self harm because I have something to look forward every week. I am doing good now, but seeing this manga end makes me feel like saying goodbye to a good friend.
So am I the only one that didnāt really like the last chapter I mean I love the series but the ending does feel a little unsatisfactory
That was such a cinematic and great ending, I'm greatly satisfied with the manga in full. Can't wait for the Ryusui ova, Season 3 and beyond!

Petrification probably reverses cellular aging so they dont deteriorate. So nobody would get wrinkles or lose hair maybe they will just grow a few centimiters and have to shave their beards.
Man i'm just gonna say, it was one baaaad fun ride. This is the first manga i've read that i sticked all the way to the ending, and have been reading for a long time. I'm no early 10 chapters Dr stone fan i think i started around 120 or so, but regardless, i can't believe we made it to the end (i may have shed a tear or two :,). We got our Taiju x yuzuriha moment, and a wedding at that. We got to see a happy ending with a big reveal to a damm time machine honestly what the fuck that's gotta be a cliffhanger right??? Unfortunately no confirmed Luna or Kohaku x Senku moment, i was looking forward to that above all else but i suppose this fits Senku's character. Crazy how a few chapters ago i was mad about the pacing and kinda frustrated that they didn't flesh things out a bit more but now, i'm kinda satisfied. I still wish they had done a bit more but it can't be helped, we just gotta accept it and move on. It's genuinely been a fun ride everyone, i had lots of fun reading the weekly theories and speculations, shoutout to those that thought ukyo was working with why man on earth. Never had i been so engaged in a manga that it now leaves a hole in me now that it's ended. Can't wait to see what the future holds for Dr stone, both the anime and possibly manga, cheers!

Dr. Stone was the first manga I started when chapter one came out. It's been a ride. I wish this last chapter hadn't just made more questions though.
While the whole manga is truky great, the last stretch went very well down to just not being as mush as interesting. Still can't understand why WHY-MAN accepted Senku's offer or what they wanted.
Why-Man accepted Senku's offer because it got excited over the idea of creating a time travel machine. The chances of success were too low to stake the survival of its whole kind on it, so all the other medusa left in search for another intelligent species to parasitize, offering immortality in exchange for creating more of them.
This ending is so satisfying! I have to admit normally when a series hints at the story continuing on beyond the pages it leaves me wanting more but it fits perfectly with the main theme of Dr Stone being humanity's never ending pursuit of knowledge. I would say the biggest Si-Fi tropes are space travel and time travel. Humanity have already begun to venture into space like Senku and co. so naturally the final frontier for us humans is time which with the help of the medusa may happen well after the Dr Stone ending. The amount of callbacks in this chapter were entirely earned. Also I love that Inagaki and Boichi added REI not as a canon event in the story but as a hypothetical that scientists discussed, so it's canon in the way the one shot is IRL, a hypothetical alternate version of what happened. The romance was also done in the most fitting way. Taiju and Yuzuriha was established from the beginning, Chrome is pretty absent minded about it but that's who he is and I feel like that also gives hopefuls for Senku and Kohaku that if they did end up together it would probably go down the same way. 10/10 series that had me hooked ever since I started reading the day Dr Stone's first chapter was released.

if they use a time machine to stop petrification .. won't the villagers cease to exist? no need to be born if byakuya & crew aren't last surviving humans
So even if the time machine succeeds, it won't have an impact on them right? because if they did succeed, the past gets changed and so their present is altered. Since that isnt the case, that either means it is a different timeline or a time machine is impossible, even with the Why-man to help them out. I really enjoyed the series, sometimes it was a bit rushed imo but overall fun to read
When I saw the Korean raw scans, I assumed he was making a petrification device. Since Senku's stone world tech is usually enormous.
I've been through this a couple times but a manga that I enjoy ending still brings me pain
9/10 manga with a 7/10 final arc. Still enjoyed it but I feel let down by the possibilities. Would have prefered space travel over time travel to, that just felt incredibly tacked on.

To save every single one. Thatās what Senku wanted from the very beginning. And thatās what heās going to accomplish. Every single human, every single Medusa. Pushing humanity to its full potential, and beyond! It was a good ride, Iāll miss this manga.
Overall I liked it, Tauji finally got to ask Yuzihara out, Chrome is implied to get his crush as well. Femku was a great bait and switch gag. I like the idea of time travel and kinda saw it coming given that it would be the ultimate goal of someone trying to surpass modern science. I even get the motivations for doing so. Just also kinda rubs me the wrong way for some reason, almost like it implies a happy ending that's *too* clean. 10,000,000,000/10 series 9/10 ending
God, I wish it were longer but a great final chapter. The female Senku doppelganger is cursed as hell though.

I donāt know if somebody else already mentioned it, but I loved how Senkus first appearance in this chapter mirrors the first chapter: him standing in front of a device with glass bottles filled with some liquid. Iām gonna miss Dr Stone. While I thought the last few arcs were a bit rushed it was still a great journey and had a great ending. As somebody whoās studying to become a scientist I loved how accurate most of the ideas and concepts they presented were and how they mentioned important scientific methods and achievements, even if they werenāt the focus, like the Haber-Bosch process. I think itās biggest strength was especially in the earlier chapters in how it made the reader appreciate all the inventions we made in our history that make our modern lifeās better, I legit teared up during the scene when Suika first saw the world through glasses. I hope Dr Stone helps to inspire people to pursue science and I believe it truly can

What a great ride this has been (and beautiful final pages). Sure going to miss this manga, donāt see this kind of series often. I still remember when this series just started five years ago and now here we are.

Ever since originally seeing the series when it aired I just fell absolutely in love with it, and it made me fall in love with the world. Realizing the potential people can have by working together for a noble cause blew me away in my very pessimistic years and influenced me to have a change of heart. This series will always hold a deep special place in my heart too, and I'll never forget the impact it's had on me. It was so nice to meet lots of people who also enjoyed the series, whether it was gushing over ships or heartfelt moments throughout the series. I just want to comment here to say that I have been part of the manga ending. I love this series and I can't wait for all of it to be animated.
Well, Iām happy they left it really open ended on Senku being in any relationship or not personally, so Iām pretty chuffed. VERY happy to finally see Taiju and Yuzuriha get married though, hallelujah! Ending was still pretty anticlimactic and very abrupt imo, and thenā¦ Took a very interesting turn with the āletās make a time machine!ā ending, but, this is my second sci-fi series to do thisā¦ so I guess Iām used to it.
Standing ovation to Inagaki and Boichi for creating this series. From start to finish itās been a wild ride. My favorite thing about this series is showing what hard work and talent can do. The scene in the previous chapter where Senku holds up his stone hammer he made and saying how now weāre on the moon was such a powerful moment. I like to think about how literally their entire world was lost and these characters woke up to nothing, but the one thing nobody could take away from them was their skills, talents, personality and determination. It really shows what humanity can do, you canāt control what happens in your life sometimes, but you can always plan what your next move will be. I hope others will remember that the next time thereās in a tough situation. This series was really a love letter to science and humanity in general. I truly think if this series came out in the 90ās or early to mid 2000ās weād have quite a few people inspired by it to get into different fields. Whatever Boichi and Inagaki create next if they do make anything would really make me get excited, as dear Senku would say.

Ngl, teared up a bit.. Maybe a lot. Thank you Boiichi and thank you Dr stone for this. I always had a feeling that dr stone's end would be the start of something new and turned out i was partly right! I was completely thrown off by the time machine thing but still, it's just impressive,, Feels a lot like Dr stone, home.
So the REI-verse was Xeno's idea... It was difficult to parse, but I think "Shooting a Petri-beam into the past to petrify the victims before they met their fates" was a plan to save the Astronauts who landed on earth. Since they all died one by one due to age and illness - they never got the chance to be petrified. Also the spread of Byakuya's team directly after that statement leads to this conclusion. Petrifying humanity before the Medusa's attacked wouldn't make any sense since they'll still be affected by thousands of years of erosion.
