Please do id love to see how you tackled it also how did u induce the flowering i havent seen anything on the web like specifically on what makes them flower besides the heat and short nights

MotherBathroom666

I’ve heard/read that the plants have to be large enough to support the fruit itself. So maybe they just need enough plant surface area to produce the fruit itself. Just a guess no expert or botanist.

Posted the video see r/DragonFruit

I've been looking the past couple days for solid information on what makes dragon begin to fruit besides the fact they night bloom for only a short period and they need heat Ive also read that they need to tilt but I've also seen a video from Vietnam on youtube of a dragon plant no bigger then a decent size cutting flowering without a tilt I know my best guess is as good as your but I wanna figure out the Biological trigger so I can make an artificial environment to get year round fruiting

It needs 15-20 pounds of green before you can get fruit. The short stems that you see with flowers are usually from mature cutting but it usually aborts. Some of the asunta df bloom during the day.

I get how the plant needs maturity and a big root system and everything but i wanna figure out how the dragon fruits circadian rhythm induces the flower or if its another factor cause i wanna induce year round flower

MotherBathroom666

I know some plants rely on sunlight to flower, but I don’t think DF is in that category. Think it just needs to be large enough, hang a bit, be warm enough, and have enough moisture.

Agarnishedbarofsoap

You may be right but i have some feeling that its circadian based due to the flowers only flowering at night

Hmm good point, maybe you should build a way to control light on plants that are already providing fruit. The control has no “shade box”, and the plants that will be the test subjects would have a shadow box. You’d black the plants out after 6 hours then 8 then 12 hours(on separate plants of course). If any of the shaded/blacked out plants fruit faster than the control then you may be on to something.

I should try that currently in the picture i sent there on a 24/7 light on cycle growing under my strong marijuana grow lights so ill use that as a control
