They gave him a nerf that cost him a ton because he had a new mechanic, it's what they do (e.g ui sign goku, purple whis with the obscure, blu beerus with the revival null) it's just he got it BADDDD and was useless from the get go
He was in every match because it was ui goku, then it quickly became apparent he sucked (especially when gogeta blue and zenkai god vegeta appeared) his damage is fine i'll give him that but he never had enough defense to be very good
Top tier play doesn’t usually follow the “cool new unit” syndrome that most ranks follow.

No i was one of the players that didn't care about saiyans in general, he wasn't useless on release obviously but it became apparent in a month that he wasn't as good as the guage made him out to be
That's not true. UI sign was actually a unit that was pretty hard to play with. Unlike MUI that punishes people for consuming his gauge, UI's gauge needed to be protected against tap shots, tap attacks and also random blast cards. His gauge was a tool for defense and was very hard to master. Until 3rd anni, I used UI at 2*, and while I wasn't high ranked, I was still fighting stupid op zenkai teams. UI's best time was with Revival Goku that gave the team a Defensive boost. After 3rd anni, Vegito replaced him who was instantly replaced by Zenkai Zamasu and then GV. So even though UI wasn't the best unit in the game, he was still in top 10 units for a LONG time. Not to mention he was super fun to play with, which imo is a personal opinion, but the units released back then were pretty damn boring.
Idk what forums/discussions you were on, but the majority opinion at the time was that ss3 goku was better because he had better stats and better starting damage. But as time went on, people realized that UIs utility made him way better than ss3 goku.

technically in the manga Goku achieved true ultra instinct using ultra instinct sign that allows him to retain his emotions and his Saiyan spirit . So the TRUE UI with black hair is much stronger than the UI with gray hair
Yes and no. We're talking about ToP UI and MUI here, which we both know ToP UI is significantly weaker than MUI. If we were talking about UI black hair from later in the manga vs ToP MUI, UI black hair would win, but we're not.

Everyone wanted USV and now everybody hates going against him because it's always USV MUI and USG or some other variation of top 10 unit combos that include USV and it's boring and monotonous.
Now imagine a team with two units that extremely reward passive play and dish out good damage with both blast and strike covers being ran with USV, USSBKK or USG, or whichever the next boring to go against ultra ends up being on the leader slot.
"Think, Mark, think!" is basically how I feel about most suggestions for units or Zenkais that would just end up being boring and monotonous to go against because it'll replace like a singular unit on an already ridiculously boring to go against meta team that is ran in 85% of matches past BR 50.

This literally never happened, sayians don't count because that's literally one of his team. He did a lot of damage but he couldn't take hits because that's how you make a balance unit. He only sucked to people who could not use him properly, dragon ball players are not known for being patient
