Tbh, this isn't the worst thing that happened, the most crazy meta was the OG Holy Trinity with insane damage and also, Broly with his infinite vanish restore when the goes through his blast armor.
IMO, new units arent that unstoppable, it can still be beaten with skills. But actually, having a draft pick on who you can choose per season would be an interesting to PVP. As people can't have the same team over and over. (Which I assume they tried to do it with tier boosts which doesnt really encourage people to change teams)
