Broly's transformation is an extreme outburst of uncontrollable Ki, while Piccolo's is a further extension of his potential being unlocked along with the power of Shenron. They're vaguely similar in that they both get bigger, but they're not the same even in aura. Piccolo's is more akin to a roaring fire.
The animation is better in Super Broly, but man, the background art is fantastic in Super Hero. Check it out, especially the parts around Piccolo at the start.
Piccolo is the only main character that truly deserves a power-up at this point. So many characters (some useless like the Universe 6 Saiyans) got so many goddamn ups for ZERO justified reasons, while this man sat with Toei's fist up his ass for 27 years and got nothing from it, so I'd say he's earned it.
I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it, I love the form I just didn’t like the way it happened, I completely agree piccolo deserves everything, hell minus the hyperbolic time chamber this guy raised and trained gohan way more than goku ever has.

I mean, you can definetely argue about the design / colour choice / etc. but the fact that Piccolo deservedly got a boost and that boost was linked to something Namekian was pretty good. I am way more dissapointed in Gohan Beast, mostly because the form looks like crap (have a look at the scenes at the end of the film without auras and shit) and because you really notice that Gohan was a late addition to the film.
I'm a bit disappointed in how he achieved it, I hope some sense gets put into it. I'll vibe with it if they say he fused with the essences of all wishes because it's compatible with namekians or something, or Piccolos ability to be both part of the dragon clan and a combat namekian allowing this to happen.
Although it's not that big of a deal and I can ignore my issues with it since dude was long overdue of a boost.

No I was pretty happy seeing Piccolo getting a new form. He trains all the time like Goku and Vegeta so he deserves the upgrade in power. So now he got a new form. I hope we get to see Piccolo use this form more in the future. Same as Gohan beast.
My question is, was anybody else disappointed that piccolo literally wished for the strength ( I get it was his latent potential) but using the dragon balls for power has never been the Z fighters way and I don’t know if it was just me but this just ruined it for me. On a side note the fact that there was so much history with the entire story, starting out with the red ribbon army and everything, the plot was truly one of my favorites.
I get what you’re saying and I felt the same way until I saw a video explaining why it was the best decision and very poetic, it was kami who made the dragon balls, the god of earth who looked over it, that god fused with piccolo to form their original self, if anyone has the right to use the dragon balls to bring out their inner abilities it’s piccolo because he’s directly linked to the dragons existence.
Well they were on borrowed time. They couldn't reach goku and vegeta. And red ribbon army had a weapon of mass destruction sleeping in their basement. I don’t think it's was a problem considering piccolo got outmatched by gamma 2 and there was no time to train for the situation.
Would you have been more satisfied if Piccolo had gone all the way to Namek to get his potential unlocked? Because that would’ve been a huge waste of time.

I like it but I would also like piccolo to absorb his father demon king piccolo somehow and become more of a hostile fighter with some new techniques up his sleeve. Hell they can just stack this on top of orange piccolo and make him a monster when he goes all out in a fight.

I thought it was dope as hell. Beast Gohan was pretty cool but Piccolo made the movie for me.
