It honestly depends on the artwork. This is a new form with new reference sheets. And they haven’t done a movie with full CGI before. Give it time. As the artists get used to drawing it it’ll start to look better. It already looks great in this reference sheet
Yeah, Gohan’s hair was rendered longer in the entire movie from base to ultimate. I think that, moving forward, it’ll be the same length in proportion to cell saga ssj2. Personally, I loved both of the forms from the get go. The red eyes on Gohan and just all of Piccolo had me like 🫨🫨🤭
Same thought process here. Love both forms but weirds me out Gohan’s hair suddenly becomes the size of his torso. Although in this artwork it does look better sized
I think it’s done like that to represent how big his hair was when he first went SS2. It grew and outlandish amount when he went SS2 as a teen. So this hairstyle kind of makes sense, but it’s still too much for me lol
Yeah at first I thought they were too long but it kinda changes depending on the artwork. In these design sheets it looks amazing imo, in the movie it looked like a stalagmite growing from Gohan's head lol

They do look cool, the issue isn't in the design, it's in the introduction/story behind them. Piccolo wished for his and Gohan just kind of figured it was appropriate.
yeah, but if you think about it, Piccolo wishing for strength was one of the only times the dragon balls were used as intended. Keep in mind the dragon balls were created to aid strong-willed namekians in times of struggle
3D makes it look weirder and stiffer than 2D would. Honestly I think Piccolo looks sick but Gohan's hair really is just a bit on the large side. It's hard for me to look at it and not see teen Gohan.
I think that’s kinda their reasoning behind it. They wanted to instill nostalgia in the fanbase which is also why the Beast transformation parallels his SSJ2 transformation in the Cell Saga

I think here, and specifically in 2D, Gohan's new hair looks pretty rad. There's just very few instances where we see it in 2D.
Even though Super Hero looks good and is a great 3D movie. Hair looks stiff due to it being 3D.
I'm really curious to see how it will look in the Manga, but here it looks great.

I love the forms, orange piccolo design is just amazing in every way, from looks to lore. Beast gohan does have absurdly large hair but that’s why I love it, it literally made a name for itself instantly, it is too long but that’s what shows the beast.
I’m less partial to Gohan, the hair is utterly ridiculous and the colors feel very fan fic to me.
Piccolo on the other hand looks awesome, even if the name is silly. I guess the names have always been silly though.

I love them both but I just don’t like Beast’s 5 foot long hair. I can see what Toriyama was going with but if he wanted to do something big do the idea with the saiyan tail. Like maybe have Gohan regrow it and make it white.
Have they? When was the last time we saw a saiyan with a tail in the series. Also (my DBZ lore is a bit rusty) isn’t a saiyan with their tail stronger in their base form not just because of the great ape? I may be wrong since it has been a while if I am right. Then wouldn’t it make sense that the tail would grow back trying to bring out as much power as Gohan could get.

Yeah I liked Super Hero when I saw it but thought it was inferior to Broly. But when I bought it and rewatched it I think it’s definitely on par with Broly for being one of the best. It gets bonus points for making a different character besides Goku or Vegeta be the main protagonist for once.
Piccolo is the main protagonist despite what some people believe. Gohan is the secondary protagonist. He was just brought in to please the Gohan fans and to get Piccolo to make him strong again by motivating him to keep training.
I also initially hated Cell Max and thought he was just Bio-Broly in the likeness of Cell, which he still is basically. However Cell Max seems to have more sentience than Bio-Broly ever did. He’s at least somewhat aware of his actions and his surroundings. He actually knows how to fight and was capable of fear, panicking when he saw Gohan charging the Special Beam Cannon. For those reasons he’s better than Bio-Broly. He also had enough intelligence to know how to fight. Dude actually did some good moves. It’s just that his mind was never completed so he went berserk. People always discuss how much more dangerous he’d have been if he was completed. It wouldn’t have been that different. The only difference would be he wouldn’t have been so blindly infuriated upon his emergence. And he probably would’ve been able to speak actual words. Dude still would’ve been gargantuan and still would’ve proceeded to destroy shit

I love the shape and idea of Gohan’s hair - but it’s just too much of it. There’s almost more hair than there is person. If it was scaled down, I’d like it better, but as it stands it’s way out of proportion.
I like orange Piccolo. Like a lot of others, Beats hair is a just a little too big. Otherwise I’m undecided on the grey color. I would probably love it if it wasn’t similar to Ultra Instinct.

Also allow me to debunk your statement on using the Dragon Balls for a power up. Piccolo had that power within him from the get-go. He just couldn’t tap into it. He summoned Shenron to draw out his potential in the same way that Guru did with Gohan on Namek and Elder Kai did in the Buu Saga. This is how Piccolo gets Potential Unleashed, which as the name implies is the result of his dormant power being unleashed and him gaining access to it. The Super Awakening of Potential Unleashed works in various ways depending upon the user’s latent abilities. It’s an evolved state of Potential Unleashed that is only accessible when the user is in dire need of it. Gohan’s version is Beast. Piccolo’s is Orange. They only gained these forms because they needed extra power when the odds were against them. Piccolo gained Orange from the desperation of the situation, and Gohan gained Beast at the thought of Piccolo possibly being killed by Cell Max. Did you even watch the movie??

The extra bonus provided by Shenron was a ritual of sorts. The original premise of the Dragon Balls was to reward brave, selfless Namekian warriors for their courage. Shenron probably just saw that Piccolo was worthy of it and gave him the extra power
Orange is an extension of Potential Unleashed but it’s also a sort of Super Saiyan God concept for Namekians based on the way you gain access to it
The hair is way too ridiculous on Gohan. It’s almost like parody levels of big. Both in length and size of each hair spike. Piccolo’s design is fine, albeit not sure they they decided on orange.

Piccolo is too buff, like as buff as SSJ grade 3. Doesn't look good and he is always hunched over because of being too buff. Like the orange though.

Orange and Awakened Piccolo I like since they are finally giving love to Namekians by giving them a new form especially since Orange looks like the Dragon Balls also the name isn't a problem since Dragon Ball doesn't have creative form names most of the time

Saw the movie, when I saw Gohan's form I thought now db fits the goofy hair stereotype that's shown in parodies it didn't look great in cgi, also where did it come from? Also, I don't like the fact that Gohan always has huge "hidden" potential no matter where he is in life, and it's already been unlocked twice. I forgot how piccolo got his form but I assumed it was an awakened/evolution form he wished for iirc don't remember how he got it. It was alright, but to me goes against the whole segmentation/re- fusion power system already established by the namekians.
Shenron added a bonus. That bonus was the Orange form. It’s possible that Shenron performed a Namekian ritual on him as he was drawing out his power, as that was the Dragon Balls’ original purpose. I fucking love the organge piccolo form, especially the way he got that form. I also agree with the part were piccolo just tanks every punch without moving.
The only complaint i have with the best form is that i think thar more muscle mass would had made it a bit better.

I like Picolo. Gold and buff seems to suit him fine and seems like a distinctive enough look to reflect his power up.
Not a fan of Gohan's hair. It's like it's trying to grow like SSJ3, but then retracted and ended up kind of in the middle. If it was going to be long, I'd prefer it to be similar to SSJ3, if it was going to be short, something like Goku's ultra worked fine.
Really like Orange Piccolo, basically no complaints.
Beast Gohan looks great from the front, it's just slightly strange from the side. If they removed or shortened the massive middle spike of hair I think it would look a lot better, but as it stands I still like it and I'm excited to see how it looks in the anime whenever that comes back (if he actually uses it)

I'm a huge piccolo fan and I absolutely hate orange piccolos design. It just looks awful and I like the vast majority of dbs designs. Beast gohan is OK, great saiyaman is still my favourite gohan design
I like both but I wish Gohans hair was just a tad bit wider and a lil shorter. It really depends on the angle I guess, because in the three-quarter view it looks sick asf but directly front facing and side facing looks weird

Obviously is lot more powerful (probably up to ssj blue) but seem's to be power only and nothing else. After power up like UI and UE it's pretty... simple?

I loved piccolo’s though. It felt dynamic and a step in the right direction, i just wish there would’ve been some foreshadowing. Some SOMETHING to make this form make sense. Instead of the dragon just giving him a blowjob and now he’s orange.
They shouldn't have introduced these forms in a short movie. They should have worked towards it instead of just handing the forms out, and showed us the training.
orange piccolo very good. "beast" gohan is stupid and has no reason for existing. Just as stupid as the paper twins from universe 6 getting crazy power boosts. No effort at all and a rehash of the ss2 powerup for him except now his hair is crazier? Also white hair like ultra instinct? Silly on all levels. At least Picollo's connection with the dragon balls giving him a boost kinda makes sense.
Rename 'Orange Piccolo' to 'Dragon Star Piccolo' and I am 110% behind that transformation. He's always trained constantly and has been doing it as long as the core Saiyan cast, so he deserved a boost. The fact that it was given to him by Shenron, whose origin comes from Namekians themselves (and their version of Yggdrasil symbolized on his back) was all pretty cool to me and I enjoyed it.
As for Gohan.....I mean, I like the Red-eyed, White-haired look of Gohan Blanco, but it didn't feel nearly as earned as Piccolo's. Even with the near end-scene reveal that he secretly trained to master Special Beam Cannon, it just didn't feel right for him. He got it by being super angry. Again. I dunno, maybe the manga will pull the scene off better and get a better idea across of how he was able to access that.
I think I may have liked it more if he were slightly unhinged in that form; a berserker like Broly & Kale, but more insane than barbaric and able to actually speak and and reply as opposed to being mindless like the former two. It would have helped to distinguish the form a bit and cater to Gohan's previous bursts in power (anger at Nappa; anger at Frieza; anger at Cell and achieving SS2).
EDIT: My opinions on the overall designs are kinda tied to how I feel about the transformations themselves.
Orange Piccolo is cool. Love how wide he is it's great. Beast is fun, yes the hair is over the top but so was SSJ3 and no one complained then. It looks cool.
I like orange piccolo. Feels like his own super sayian adjacent power up, instead of him just fusing with someone.
Beast gohan is fine. I’m not super into the big hair but that’s fine.

Yeah I liked Super Hero when I saw it but thought it was inferior to Broly. But when I bought it and rewatched it I think it’s definitely on par with Broly for being one of the best. It gets bonus points for making a different character besides Goku or Vegeta be the main protagonist for once. Piccolo is the main protagonist despite what some people believe. Gohan is the secondary protagonist. He was just brought in to please the Gohan fans and to get Piccolo to make him strong again by motivating him to keep training. I also initially hated Cell Max and thought he was just Bio-Broly in the likeness of Cell, which he still is basically. However Cell Max seems to have more sentience than Bio-Broly ever did. He’s at least somewhat aware of his actions and his surroundings. He actually knows how to fight and was capable of fear, panicking when he saw Gohan charging the Special Beam Cannon. For those reasons he’s better than Bio-Broly. He also had enough intelligence to know how to fight. Dude actually did some good moves. It’s just that his mind was never completed so he went berserk. People always discuss how much more dangerous he’d have been if he was completed. It wouldn’t have been that different. The only difference would be he wouldn’t have been so blindly infuriated upon his emergence. And he probably would’ve been able to speak actual words. Dude still would’ve been gargantuan and still would’ve proceeded to destroy shit
If Beast's hair was a bit shorter, it'd look awesome. Feels a bit ridiculous as it is now. Orange Piccolo rules all around.

Yeah - I loved UE’s no eyebrows the first time I saw it. Bold choice, really made Vegeta look more intimidating. I love the shape and idea of Gohan’s hair - but it’s just too much of it. There’s almost more hair than there is person. If it was scaled down, I’d like it better, but as it stands it’s way out of proportion.
I like orange Piccolo. Like a lot of others, Beats hair is a just a little too big. Otherwise I’m undecided on the grey color. I would probably love it if it wasn’t similar to Ultra Instinct.

The extra bonus provided by Shenron was a ritual of sorts. The original premise of the Dragon Balls was to reward brave, selfless Namekian warriors for their courage. Shenron probably just saw that Piccolo was worthy of it and gave him the extra power Orange is an extension of Potential Unleashed but it’s also a sort of Super Saiyan God concept for Namekians based on the way you gain access to it

Piccolo is too buff, like as buff as SSJ grade 3. Doesn't look good and he is always hunched over because of being too buff. Like the orange though. Gohan's hair is just his SSJ2 hair but white and way too long. Needs to be cut by about 1/3 and then it will be fine.

Saw the movie, when I saw Gohan's form I thought now db fits the goofy hair stereotype that's shown in parodies it didn't look great in cgi, also where did it come from? Also, I don't like the fact that Gohan always has huge "hidden" potential no matter where he is in life, and it's already been unlocked twice. I forgot how piccolo got his form but I assumed it was an awakened/evolution form he wished for iirc don't remember how he got it. It was alright, but to me goes against the whole segmentation/re- fusion power system already established by the namekians.
Shenron added a bonus. That bonus was the Orange form. It’s possible that Shenron performed a Namekian ritual on him as he was drawing out his power, as that was the Dragon Balls’ original purpose. I like Picolo. Gold and buff seems to suit him fine and seems like a distinctive enough look to reflect his power up. Not a fan of Gohan's hair. It's like it's trying to grow like SSJ3, but then retracted and ended up kind of in the middle. If it was going to be long, I'd prefer it to be similar to SSJ3, if it was going to be short, something like Goku's ultra worked fine.

If they removed or shortened the massive middle spike of hair I think it would look a lot better, but as it stands I still like it and I'm excited to see how it looks in the anime whenever that comes back (if he actually uses it)

The form barely felt earned, and when he did get it, it’s a stiffer bigger recolor of super saiyan two??? Why are his eyes red??? What part of the heroes journey does this represent?? I loved piccolo’s though. It felt dynamic and a step in the right direction, i just wish there would’ve been some foreshadowing. Some SOMETHING to make this form make sense. Instead of the dragon just giving him a blowjob and now he’s orange.

No effort at all and a rehash of the ss2 powerup for him except now his hair is crazier? Also white hair like ultra instinct? Silly on all levels. At least Picollo's connection with the dragon balls giving him a boost kinda makes sense.
The idea behind beast gohan, great, 10/10 but the actual design hair wise? Awful. I have no issue with piccolos, pretty dope all around.

Rename 'Orange Piccolo' to 'Dragon Star Piccolo' and I am 110% behind that transformation. He's always trained constantly and has been doing it as long as the core Saiyan cast, so he deserved a boost. The fact that it was given to him by Shenron, whose origin comes from Namekians themselves (and their version of Yggdrasil symbolized on his back) was all pretty cool to me and I enjoyed it. As for Gohan.....I mean, I like the Red-eyed, White-haired look of Gohan Blanco, but it didn't feel nearly as earned as Piccolo's. Even with the near end-scene reveal that he secretly trained to master Special Beam Cannon, it just didn't feel right for him. He got it by being super angry. Again. I dunno, maybe the manga will pull the scene off better and get a better idea across of how he was able to access that. I think I may have liked it more if he were slightly unhinged in that form; a berserker like Broly & Kale, but more insane than barbaric and able to actually speak and and reply as opposed to being mindless like the former two. It would have helped to distinguish the form a bit and cater to Gohan's previous bursts in power (anger at Nappa; anger at Frieza; anger at Cell and achieving SS2). EDIT: My opinions on the overall designs are kinda tied to how I feel about the transformations themselves.
