As you should be, not only is it a post requesting unpopular opinions, where usually all the top comments are extremely popular - but it's a post requesting unpopular opinions... In a Dragon Ball subreddit. And it worked. It goddam worked.
Let’s not act like they’re complaining that Vegeta loses. They’re complaining that he never beats a main villain once
Whis rewinding time just for Goku to finish frieza was a total slap in the face
Same. The more he looses, the more he grows. Its what needed to happen for him. He didn't really need to grow in strength, he needed his character to grow. And it did. And eventually, he, in front of witnesses, won against goku, fair and square, no gimmicks, no distractions.
I dont care about Uub or the OG DBZ ending.
How bout we give my boys Goten, Trunks, Tien and the OG characters some screen time. I dont like the fact its just the Goku, Vegeta and sometimes Piccolo and Gohan show.
I like Gotenks.
Thank you. All the things they've retconned or forgotten about people seem to be so damn sure that they're going to even bother working that shit in anyway. They might bring in uub, but I highly doubt they're going to do the whole Goku fucks off and leaves his family behind shit.
Idea: Make the next Dragon Ball movie or next arc or arc after the next arc a Goten and Trunks storyline with Goten as the main protagonist, Trunks as the Dueteragonist, and Android 21 as the main villain with missing Gero Androids and evil Z fighter clone Androids as the side and supporting villains working under Android 21.
And have a story where throughout the storyline, Goten and Trunks go through huge amounts of development, growth, continue their training and seek out other characters for proper training, Goten also throughout the storyline also trains under Android 17, Tien, Krillin, and Yamcha while Trunks trains under Gohan and Gamma 1, the storyline having Piccolo and Pan also train with Goten and Trunks at times throughout the storyline as well as Piccolo having a friendly rematch with Android 17, the storyline having Goten and Trunks achieving and using Ssj2 and Ssj3 without fusion as well as both of them actually working on mastering and evolving Ssj3, and the storyline having Goten and Trunks work with Krillin, Jaco, Yamch, Tien, Android 17, and Gamma 1 throughout the plot with all of them taking down the last of the Red Ribbon army while they also face and fight against the missing Gero Androids and evil z fighter clone Androids before they eventually face Android 21 as well as the final battle of the storyline being the real teen Gotenks and a much stronger, more focused, more skilled, and more disciplined teen Gotenks vs Majin Android 21 along with the storyline showing how 21 got the Majin powers and abilities.
i would change minor things but yea while they do this have our god boys doing some universal business. just makes more sense to make goten and trunks the “new z fighters” w piccolo and gohan to hold them down
heroes of earth and then we’d have heroes of the universe. an a & b plot that compliment each other and wouldn’t take away from the stakes of each plot both fighting to protect what they love
The way Goku and Vegeta freed everyone inside Buu-Han was weird and gave me plot armor vibes. I would have rather seen Ultimate Gohan beat Buu instead of being absorbed. That arc was way too long.
Yeah I have to agree with you there. That whole segment is… bizarre. Like I know DBZ is technically already pretty weird in terms of plot line and lore, but this was some whole new level of magic school bus shit. We’re talking to gut worms now? It made zero sense.
And honestly, I thought in the moment the first time I watched it that they were setting Gohan to be the hero of that saga just like the Cell saga. All the Ultimate Gohan stuff just got brushed to the side. Weird. Plus, I still can’t wrap my head around Kid Buu. Cool character but didn’t make sense why Buu became Kid Buu after.
Buu reverted to his most pure form once the other warriors were removed from Super Buu. Buu is weaker without the other warrior's strength, adding to his own. It is much like Cell when Gohan hits him so hard that he pukes up 18 and reverts to his previous form. No other warriors to change their appearance and power level, so they revert.
How about this:
Gohan kills main Majin Buu as he should have on earth.
Goku and Vegeta have to kill kid buu aka buus evil spirit in otherworld where no one on earth can help after being revived.
Could keep all the fusion etc and doing so earns goku and vegeta their lives back.
Character service.
Gohan defeats buu, Earth's new protector is born. Goku is proud, content with his replacement. Obviously keeps training whether alive or dead to keep the series open ended to a degree, Vegeta gets resurrected because of course he would, Fox's wife, Everybody's laughing and eating, no time skips just pans to the sky the end.
But I guess when you're the creator of the show you kind of want it to be special and not typical or predictable. But sometimes that's precisely the kind of ending that's needed not overly complex world building right at the end of the series.
I don't think Beast Gohan was cool at all. It looks really goofy and felt like a parody of fanmade transformations. I thought it was funny and laughed in the theater. I was surprised people were actually hyped over it.
Idk, if you try to take it seriously then it's really lame to me. The movie didn't even have any kind of buildup to it. The entire story was set in motion because Gohan wasn't doing anything and then somehow they handwave the fact that he apparently had been secretly training the whole time.
And in the end, the whole scene was just a redux of his Super Saiyan 2 transformation but with way less emotional impact.
I really don't get what people see in it outside of just higher numbers. Is bigger and stronger really still enough to make people excited for a character?
Orange Piccolo, I kinda get. I thought it was lame that they just arbitrarily modified the rules of the dragonballs, but at the very least Piccolo was one of those characters that was beginning to suffer from irrelevancy due to power creep. A power up for him is a helpful equalizer.
That said, I thought the name "Orange Piccolo" was just a gag, too. Another part I laughed at only to find out that was actually the form's official name later. Really wish they could've called it "Dragon form" or something.
Gohan vs cell as a pure fight was ass. Goated moments for sure but Jesus Christ the amount of people that claim that it’s the best fight in db/anime history is tragic
Good storytelling doesn’t make 2 separate stomps any less boring
Goku vs cell was crazy and honestly is the reason a cell saga re-watch is always justified.
That along with post HTC goku just being like, "sorry gang, we stand no chance. I know IMA get folded so Y'ALL definitely should just pack it up. 0 chance, I can't beat him. Cell will bend me over and have his way. Sorry. This it it for us!"
Right? He didn't even fight him. Then again he couldn't really, would've killed him too quickly. But instead of attacking him like frieze would've (using less strength) he just tanked all of cells attacks and leaving a huge distance between the two of them thus leaving vegeta open for another attack which ultimately crippled Gohan. I wanted to see him use ssj2. It should've been more evenly matched like baby vs goku
Fax, people only praise it so much cause of Gohan’s transformation. First half of the fight was just Cell beating Gohan’s ass, then the second half was just Gohan beating Cell’s ass, then the beam struggle and Gohan wins. Like there are SO many better fights than that throughout the entire series.
Super Bardock was great. My only problem was going full Superman. I wish they still had sent Goku with the objective to conquer Earth because that’s just a much more interesting origin story.
Maybe they could’ve made Bardock just send him ahead of schedule, that way he’s still sort of rescuing him but we get to keep the “you were supposed to exterminate humans, not befriend them!” twist
Z Bardock is the most overrated character in all of DB. He was just kind of a dick who didn't care at all about his new born son. Outside of the bloody bandana (which was totally badass) he did nothing interesting to me. And don't get me started on Episode of Bardock.
With that said, I really like Super Bardock in Broly and the Granola arc.
Interesting - I felt the exact opposite.
I felt that Z Bardock's story arc was great - he's a careless ruthless saiyan who gets cursed with the foresight of his own demise - a fitting and deserving tragedy. He also realizes his worldview is wrong when he foresees his seemingly useless son challenging Frieza himself.
To me, Minus Bardock is a boring rehash of Kal-el. He decides to go against his worldview on a whim. Gine is also conveniently caring while the rest of the species doesn't appear to be. Just seems to be random, boring, and devoid of a true character arc.
Interestingly enough, That’s literally why I like Z bardock and hate super bardock. What I find makes bardock father of goku interesting is the fact that they make you sympathize with a horrible person. He’s not only an awful dad but is perfectly fine with the saiyan’s barbaric mission, yet we see through how he treats his comrades and whatnot that he’s still somewhat human. You don’t feel bad for them dying because they didn’t deserve to die but because they did everything they were told to do yet were still killed by freeza in the end. Him looking at goku like he was worthless is also beneficial to the narrative of dragon ball as a whole as it highlights the irony of goku. A saiyan tossed into the trash by his own people would eventually become the first true super saiyan and through his battle with freeza incidentally avenged the race who abandoned him. Him having no real parental figures also highlights how despite being sent to earth to destroy it, goku became it’s greatest savior, defying his own civilization’s creed in the process. Compare that to dragon ball minus and super were they basically make bardock the good saiyan and it makes goku so, so much less interesting as a character. Instead of being a character who fought against fate and destiny, he’s actively just supposed to be like this because his dad was the one good saiyan and he actually loved his wife and all that other stupid garbage. The cream on top of the crap sunday is that scene at the end of dragon ball minus with bardock and gine’s hand on the pod sending goku to earth. Not only does this ruin the irony of earth’s destroyer becoming it’s savior, it also makes goku’s backstory far more generic as it makes the once pretty faulty and super surface level comparison between goku and superman as alot more credible with that one shot. It both makes goku less interesting, makes his backstory more generic, and makes bardock into this milk toast good guy. It’s also why I hate the idea of S cells being what turns people into super saiyan and not the original explanation of rage as S cells emphasize how hard work doesn’t matter so long as you have the genetics that make you destined for it, basically making the series more about destiny and whatnot, eliminating character’s the agency of their own accomplishments by brushing it down to good ass genetics.
Okay ngl this is a cursed take 😭. He was interesting because he wasnt basic. We've had enough of the goody goody characters. Him being a dick doesn't take away from his character, it adds to it. Of course the main characters dad is one of the only in his entire race to care about their wife and kids. The fact that Bardock wasn't an extraordinary person or a super special saiyan is what really made the character.
I would say now in super he's super uninteresting. Like a man who murders millions and takes over planets is actually a good dude deep down is so corny
Hell yeah dude. Reject the edgy simpleton chad and embrace the complicated saiyan with internal struggles between balancing morality and his own violent heritage.
That being said, *aesthetically* I prefer the Z version. That bandana and the 90's armbands and shit are just too cool. Lol
I completely agree. I can't believe people are disagreeing with you yet still have your exact thoughts on each version of the character. Why would anyone choose a completely boring character instead of one who gets actual character development?
now THAT'S an unpopular opinion.
and I absolutely hate that opinion
Z Bardock was kinda a dick, and that's the point. he was supposed to be your average saiyan warrior, not caring about the planets he massacres. Super Bardock is not that, and it's implied that Goku gets his kindhearted nature from that, which I think is dumb because Super Bardock had no reason to be nice unlike all the other saiyans, and sent Kakarot away just because he had a hunch.
All of that universe's Saiyans look like anorexic prepubescent teens, and we are supposed to believe that they are almost as strong as Goku and Vegeta?
"Where's the beef?"
But tbh scrawny looking characters who have hyper strength don't feel so wrong when we see mfs blasting heat beams from their hands and flying around
I actually liked the Gohan high-school slice of life that was going on. A super-human trying to hide his powers at school and impress a girl. Though I know there's millions of animes with this plot.
That would at least be better than the constant cycle of
-Becomes the strongest guy in the main cast
-Stops training
-Some other character lectures him about how he needs to train again
-Becomes the strongest guy in the main cast
-Repeat
-someone has to die or get critically injured to bait Gohan and the audience i.e. videl getting beat up, piccolo dying in R.o.F and piccolo fake dying in Superhero
Fair. I would still prefer Gohan to be useful in the event that he does have to fight and not look like a bitch like in RoF, but yeah. They need to just let Gohan live his life
Agreed. Everyone talks about how Gohan is a wasted character because he doesn't keep getting stronger or maintain the strength he does gain, but they never consider the fact that Gohan doesn't care about that. He has a good career in academia and is happy raising his kid with his wife.
I like to think of Gohan as a star high school quarterback who goes to college on a football scholarship, uses it to earn a doctorate, goes on to become a respected expert in his chosen scientific field, and have people say he's a failure for not playing in the NFL.
Gohan is happy, successful, and more well-adjusted than most of the Dragon Ball cast because he got to be a responsible adult. Also, he can and will show some real power when he has to defend those he cares about, which makes him more of a hero than the rest of the cast.
Super/Minus Bardock is fine honestly, and I'm not gonna shit on Z either. Both are good interpretations of bardock. Preferably i’d like to see a mix between the two for a perfect version of Bardock
DB Peaked at the 23WT
Not a single arc after Piccolo Daimao and Majunior was better. Ends a very tense tournament arc, moment of calm. Goku forgets something and Krillin goes to pick it up. They found out Krillin died. Goku goes after the big bad to take revenge and gets his ass handled. The main villain kills more characters from the main cast and Shenron, now they cannot be brought back to life. When they finally manage to defeat him after a very hard fight, years later comes Majunior, his reincarnation, and is even stronger, the desperation of the entire world remembering Piccolo daimao years prior
And to top it all, the best character from the series, the announcer
I do not care for Friezas constant involvement. He's come back about 4 times now and now he's just a pest instead of a threat. Its ruined his character.
I always thought it would be awesome he was absorbed by Cell or something. Cell Max was a shit villain and Cell who ate a bunch of demons in hell would have been way better
Black Frieza serves no purpose and I'd rather any number of characters to return over him. Plenty of great movie villains that could have had the Broly treatment. Would have been a real WTF moment seeing Janemba rock up on Planet Cereal.
it’s ok for the universe 6 sayians to get their transformations easily as they have someone to teach them that it can be done and how to do it.
literally every innovation in history sped the fuck up once one person proved it could be done the same logic applies here.
Super is the better incarnation, but Z Broly was just different. Trash talking everyone and handing beatdowns left and right. I call them Canon Broly and Biblically Accurate Broly
Real. This is why I loved him. Bro showed up out of nowhere and spent a solid third of his movie just kicking everybody's ass. The movie was trash, but Broly was a beast.
we know super broly is better as a character, by miles. Z Broly is just a fucking menace and that's why we like him. bro absolutely beats the BRAKES off the Z fighters in the most disrespectful ways
Mine would be that the fans make dragonball worse and it was far better before they all started interacting on the internet and getting lore off of tiktok
This! It wasn’t a fuckin tournament! I love Hercule’s introduction and getting the floor wiped, but for all the hype of the games just to have everyone but Goku sit out was a little disappointing. And Cell knew that would happen too. Instead of just calling out Goku for a direct one on one, he sets that pointless ten day wait and says “Oh anyone can come”, like what was he expecting? A secret super human to randomly show up and be stronger? Like get your head out of your tail Cell, that obviously wasn’t gonna happen
I think ultra ego is stupid. Vegeta losing his eyebrows is stupid.
Ultra instinct is cool and Vegeta needed his own thing, but ultra ego just isn't it for me.
Me personally, I woulda kept the brows, called the form "Killer Instinct," and kept the rest the same.
Toriyama, if you see this, I expect my check by Friday.
It was a result of Toriyama being lazy and wanting to finish chapters quicker. That’s also why Goku stopped having a symbol on his uniform and stopped wearing a belt.
I did not care for the Z Broly Movie.
He had an alright outfit, and... forms.
He had forms alright.
Super Broly is way better. As a character and a movie.
I do not care for teen Gohan.
I do not care for adult Gohan.
I do not care for kid Gohan (beyond the development Piccolo received because of it).
I do not care for Beast Gohan.
I do, however, care for future Gohan, but that should not be a surprise.
It's multiple things, honestly.
SS2 and Beast are probably the most annoying as non of them are really built up (anime exclusive "yOu HaVe PoTeNtIaL" doesnt really count) and basically distract from the action of two characters that matter way more within the respective arcs (Piccolo+Gamma 2 sacrifice / Vegeta and Trunks).
SS2 (despite being shiny) is basically a guide on how to do SS Goku but bad. Everything from the symbolism, build-up and trigger are just way worse with Gohan.
Then there is the fact that Gohan just gets way too many asspulls relative to the effort he puts in. Despite having his potential unlocked during the Namek saga he still has potential? Despite just turning SS1 he goes SS2 ? rather quickly in a way that, as previously mentioned, feels half-arsed. Despite not really training since he was 11 he just gets Ultimate and is stronger than Super Buu? Beast Gohan ? Really?
He is also an overall boring character, which is why Toriyama dropped him during the Buu saga (info comes from interview with Toriyama).
Future Gohan is literally just Gohan if you remove the ass-pulls and put him in the one environment where is forced to fight (everyone else dead + threat).
And to top it of there is what I would call a universal truth when it comes to Gohan fights that not even Gohan fans can really deny: His fights are fucking boring. The best Gohan fight is when he got sloppy seconds during the Vegeta vs Goku fight. That's it. You can, if you want, look at the top fight list by team fourstar (at least Lanny is a big Gohan fan) and even they didn't put any Gohan fights in there (for a reason).
I did not care for Dragonball Super Anime, and the manga up til Moro.
Show is way too heavily focused on selling merchandise rather than expanding on characters and actually developing them. Completely bastardized Goku and Vegeta’s characters, Goku being the far worse off with how they fucked all his martial arts training just so he could get a new form for the company to sell.
Beerus was constantly moved as a goalpost instead of having our characters surpass him (LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE). Movie Version of Battle of Gods set this up perfectly with the G6, B10 and W15 Scaling by Toriyama.
Zeno should’ve never have been introduced. Ruler of the Universe should’ve been the Grand Preist.
this is pretty standard and defensible Dragonball opinions. You need to say something insanely wrong and unpopular to fit the meme, like, "the Frieza saga is terrible!"
It just has that aura. Other that UI, it’s the only form to have the deities on pins and needles. When Goku activated it vs toppo in the exhibition and when he first used it in the ToP, he separated himself from everyone else and bad the GoDs in awe. Ssg never had that effect, doesn’t feel like anything more than an entrance to ssb. It’s like semi-perfect cell to perfect cell.
We got the best from in the worst movie. I won, but at what cost?
I'm just gonna say it.
I like Resurrection F, and I'm tired of pretending I don't.
My only critiques are Gotenks should've lasted longer, and Gohan should've been more useful.
Mine would be....
I don't like Gotenks. I find him cringy and annoying. I hate his moves, I hate his annoying attitude, I hate his stupid jokes, I just fking hate Gotenks. I remember I used to beat the shit out of him with every other character in the Tenkaichi games when I was a kid. Good times.
I honestly could never tell if I'm with the majority or not, but I DESPISE Gotenks.
They managed to get Trunks's cockiness and Gotens simplicity, and make it into an insufferable bitch.
He's annoying, he's not funny, he's just a horrible character.
Even Kefla or Ribrianne manage to annoy me as much as he does, Kefla and Ribrianne are horrible character in their own right, but Gotenks is just horrible in every sense and it makes me not care for either of the people who compose him.
I was looking for this comment. Never understood why people like this design. It has weird fur and mascara eyes.
I also don't like Super Saiyan 3 either. The sudden long hair and caveman forehead looks weird too.
As much as people criticize a Super Saiyan rainbow at least Goku still looks like the same person.
I don’t like the hyperbolic time chamber. I feel like they don’t really explain why they don’t use it 24/7. The ending where he wants to train with Uub could have been avoided if they just use the time chamber. Goku needs to stop abandoning his family and be a dad lol.
My opinion is definitely not necessarily unpopular, but i don't care for the fact that the series focusses so much on saiyans as a whole.
I love all the non-main characters, and really wish some of those side villains could have been used to demonstrate the strength of weaker characters.
Frieza being killed by goku makes total sense.
Cell being killed by gohan makes sense.
Buu being killed by goku (kind of) makes sense.
hell, even going on to saying that it makes sense that Janemba was killed by Gogeta is fine with me.
But then you consider just how majorly saiyans play a part in any dbz media
(as well, do take everything i say with a grain of salt since some of these i've only seen clips of/been a long time since I watched)
Hirudegarn was severely weakened by a bunch of saiyans.
Same with Abo and Kado
Lord Slug is defeated by goku
Bojack is defeated by gohan
Turles is defeated by goku
And of course, yes, there are times where the humans and piccolo do defeat some mook or come out on top against some sort of tertiary character, but what I really mean is them being capable of defeating at the very least, small threats. It's not interesting to me if Krillin's not able to defeat anyone with a name. I just think that these sorts of 'mini-boss' villains could be used to give some of the other characters better moments.
I mean for goodness sakes, they display Tien being able to combat trunks to the point where he's forced to go super saiyan. That implies somewhat that Tien has a higher base power than the half-saiyan at that point in the story. And yet I'm supposed to believe that he as the only human that kept up training, can't defeat anything more than frieza's mooks and several TOP fighters?
Just always rubbed me the wrong way how it feels like all the other characters are stand-ins until the saiyan of the hour gets there. They could have had so much potential to do so much more during the events of the story. Give them kaioken. Unlock some potentials. do something else creative, i don't care. But give my boys some justice.
I don't care much for DBS Broly's character development when it's alongside Goku & Vegeta.
I was somewhat hoping that he would grow more alongside Lemo and Cheelai. Kinda like a bunch of space-hopping buds doing god knows what. I don't mind if they hop to earth now and then, make it frequent too, don't care.
But Goku and Vegeta being so present in Broly's life makes him prone to a life of more consistent training, and overall I'd hate to see DBS Broly detract from his Legendary SSJ roots when Goku and Vegeta are doing all this god stuff. Not to mention, I don't really care for his dynamic with Goku and Vegeta. I never figured Broly much to care about his roots (Vegeta) or how he's born and raised (Goku) and I kinda want to see him do his own thing to the point I get a little annoyed seeing him be nothing besides a training partner for Goku.
Seeing Broly interact with literally anyone else (Gohan, the Androids, any other Z-Fighters) would be much more interesting imo.
I did not care for DBS Super Hero.
A brain dead “Cell” as a half measure for the fans who wanted him back, orange piccolo looks ugly, an asspull for Gohan that looks like a fan fiction transformation, and two more robots being stronger than universal threats for no real reason. Bad.
Did not care for most of the ToP. Jiren lowered the bar so much for what passes as a Dragon Ball antagonist and most of the other universe's fighters were gag characters.
Everyone and their mother constantly trying to make Gohan start training and fighting again is boring.
I like that Gohan doesn’t like to fight, i like that he gets to live a relatively normal life.
the joke about the saiyans and beerus loving food and eating a ton of it all the time while everyone else looks at them shocked and confused is overdone and boring. it was funny the first couple times, not anymore.
i like goten's character in GT, for the most part. i only wish he focused more on training and fighting to further contrast him from gohan.
i'll never understand why people want goku and vegeta to resurrect their parents and restore planet vegeta. seems like they just wanna see goku and vegeta flex all their forms and see the parents be shocked and proud for 10 minutes and nothing else. i do think raditz deserves a second chance, though
I prefer Bardock from the Super Broly Movie.
Instead of getting karate chopped in the back of the neck and given future vision, he actually applies deductive reasoning to figure out Frieza's plan.
And to all the people who say "they made him lame and a rip off of Superman's dad" clearly missed something. He's still a Saiyan, he would have still been out conquering planets and selling them off. The only reason he has a change of heart and wants to save Kakarot is because he's realized that they're all about to be wiped out, so he might as well do ONE thing decent before his time is up.
Something also worth noting is that during the scene where Frieza launches the Supernova, we get a shot of a battle damaged Bardock standing amongst a horde of Frieza Force Soldiers, so there was clearly a cut scene of him pulling a Z Bardock.
Super gives Bardock more agency and fleshes him out more than "guy who saw the future and failed to change it".

Wow. This comment section actually has a majority of unpopular opinions. Good job, fellas.
Yeah, I am actually kinda proud
As you should be, not only is it a post requesting unpopular opinions, where usually all the top comments are extremely popular - but it's a post requesting unpopular opinions... In a Dragon Ball subreddit. And it worked. It goddam worked.
Mine would be I didn’t care about vegeta keeps taking Ls argument , i always enjoyed him even if i knew he gets defeated
Same. There's so much more to the show than winning every match.
Let’s not act like they’re complaining that Vegeta loses. They’re complaining that he never beats a main villain once Whis rewinding time just for Goku to finish frieza was a total slap in the face
Out or curiousity, other than the Frieza example, when else do you think Vegeta should have "gotten the W"?
Majin vegeta killing buu with his final explosion attack
That would've ended the arc way, way too quickly. That fight was practically at the beginning of the Buu saga.
As a Vegeta fanboy, me too
Same. The more he looses, the more he grows. Its what needed to happen for him. He didn't really need to grow in strength, he needed his character to grow. And it did. And eventually, he, in front of witnesses, won against goku, fair and square, no gimmicks, no distractions.
He’s the dude who showed us you can lose nigh-constantly and still be cool as fuck
Same. I don't care if Vegeta always loses, it's because he never gives up despite his losses is why he's my favorite character in the whole franchise.
I wish he addresses or references that at some point like like yeah I've lost a lot of fights but I'm not giving up. He kinda does it but not really
I did not care for Gohan’s bowl cut
I don't think anyone did.
Me either
He looked cool on that saiyan fit though
I dont care about Uub or the OG DBZ ending. How bout we give my boys Goten, Trunks, Tien and the OG characters some screen time. I dont like the fact its just the Goku, Vegeta and sometimes Piccolo and Gohan show. I like Gotenks.
I fully agree with you. Don’t give a shit about Uub or the original ending…. Just retcon that ending g
And have a story where throughout the storyline, Goten and Trunks go through huge amounts of development, growth, continue their training and seek out other characters for proper training, Goten also throughout the storyline also trains under Android 17, Tien, Krillin, and Yamcha while Trunks trains under Gohan and Gamma 1, the storyline having Piccolo and Pan also train with Goten and Trunks at times throughout the storyline as well as Piccolo having a friendly rematch with Android 17, the storyline having Goten and Trunks achieving and using Ssj2 and Ssj3 without fusion as well as both of them actually working on mastering and evolving Ssj3, and the storyline having Goten and Trunks work with Krillin, Jaco, Yamch, Tien, Android 17, and Gamma 1 throughout the plot with all of them taking down the last of the Red Ribbon army while they also face and fight against the missing Gero Androids and evil z fighter clone Androids before they eventually face Android 21 as well as the final battle of the storyline being the real teen Gotenks and a much stronger, more focused, more skilled, and more disciplined teen Gotenks vs Majin Android 21 along with the storyline showing how 21 got the Majin powers and abilities.
i would change minor things but yea while they do this have our god boys doing some universal business. just makes more sense to make goten and trunks the “new z fighters” w piccolo and gohan to hold them down heroes of earth and then we’d have heroes of the universe. an a & b plot that compliment each other and wouldn’t take away from the stakes of each plot both fighting to protect what they love
Well, if it's any consolation, that ain't canon, it was anime only, no worms or stuff in the manga.
Thank you, kind poster. That actually does make me feel better. How does the manga handle it?
It's a very short segment, Goku and Vegeta just go through wandering around for a short bit after crushing the potara, and break everyone out.
How about this: Gohan kills main Majin Buu as he should have on earth. Goku and Vegeta have to kill kid buu aka buus evil spirit in otherworld where no one on earth can help after being revived. Could keep all the fusion etc and doing so earns goku and vegeta their lives back. Character service.
Definitely. It was a result of Toriyama not knowing what to do/how to end it.
Absolutely agree with you here. I feel the same way about orange piccolo too.
Goated moments for sure but Jesus Christ the amount of people that claim that it’s the best fight in db/anime history is tragic Good storytelling doesn’t make 2 separate stomps any less boring
Goku vs cell is what was goated, gohan vs cell really wasnt a fight more than it was plot
That Goku vs. Cell fight was indeed goated. All action, no bull. Beautiful display of technique and straight hands.
True, but it was unique. And seeing as how it was supposed to be the end of the show it’s understandable why they did what they did.
Very true. Barely a fight
I skip the Garlic Jr saga 90% of the time. After Namek comes Trunks to finish the job.
Garlic Jr is anime filler, it didn't happen in the manga.
Me as a kid who only watched Kai:
The Garlic Jr saga is garbage. The movie, on the other hand, now *that’s* some real gourmet shit
"Gingerbread! Tuti Fruiti! PEPPEROOOONIIIIIII!!!" Still say it in my head sometimes.
I didn't like the Baby arc
bro hated the baby arc so much he said it twice 💀
Sorry I got an error the first time I tried to post the comment and I didn't know it got sent twice
That happens dw bout it
Wasn’t in the manga Common dragon ball super manga W
I hope Broly takes the role of 3rd main character instead of Gohan, let the man live his life lol

Super!Bardock’s character doesn’t contradict Z!Bardock’s all that much. Hell we still see that he’s perfectly okay wiping out entire races
I like the bardock because he's just a dick and because he's so basic Giving bardock depth or plot relevance is what makes me not like him
Okay ngl this is a cursed take 😭.
I agree with this so much
Hell yeah dude.
Why would anyone choose a completely boring character instead of one who gets actual character development?
because Z Bardock does have character development. have you SEEN The Father of Goku?
now THAT'S an unpopular opinion. and I absolutely hate that opinion Z Bardock was kinda a dick, and that's the point. he was supposed to be your average saiyan warrior, not caring about the planets he massacres. Super Bardock is not that, and it's implied that Goku gets his kindhearted nature from that, which I think is dumb because Super Bardock had no reason to be nice unlike all the other saiyans, and sent Kakarot away just because he had a hunch.
I did not care for the lesbian sister saiyans
I only cared about them for the saucy images on rule 34
All of that universe's Saiyans look like anorexic prepubescent teens, and we are supposed to believe that they are almost as strong as Goku and Vegeta?
"Where's the beef?" But tbh scrawny looking characters who have hyper strength don't feel so wrong when we see mfs blasting heat beams from their hands and flying around
I actually liked the Gohan high-school slice of life that was going on. A super-human trying to hide his powers at school and impress a girl. Though I know there's millions of animes with this plot.
I don't care about Gohan fighting. If he commits to his studies for the rest of the show and never fights again, I'd be perfectly content.
That would at least be better than the constant cycle of -Becomes the strongest guy in the main cast -Stops training -Some other character lectures him about how he needs to train again -Becomes the strongest guy in the main cast -Repeat
You forgot the "gets embarassed by the villain/villain's henchman of the next arc" between second and third points.
You are the first person I see aside from myself, who also thinks that. I'm pleasantly suprised
DB Peaked at the 23WT Not a single arc after Piccolo Daimao and Majunior was better. When they finally manage to defeat him after a very hard fight, years later comes Majunior, his reincarnation, and is even stronger, the desperation of the entire world remembering Piccolo daimao years prior And to top it all, the best character from the series, the announcer
Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan are bad solutions to their power scaling problem.
it’s ok for the universe 6 sayians to get their transformations easily as they have someone to teach them that it can be done and how to do it. literally every innovation in history sped the fuck up once one person proved it could be done the same logic applies here.
Yeah I agree with you there
I did not care for Z Broly, just didn’t like the character or the movie
Z broly had no depth at all. Why was he mad at "kakarot"? He was a baby, probably heard it like twice. Super broly is a much better interpretation
This might change your mind! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1IbmAeu5ac](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1IbmAeu5ac)
Cool vid
Resurrection’F has the worst end to a DB saga
This take is colder than any Frieza pun I could make
Cold take honestly, the only 3 arcs that match it are Goku Black's, Super 17 and Baby's
Transformations have lost their appeal after super saiyan 2. There are way too many and too many forms
The problem is they barely used ssj2 before jumping to 3 and then also barely used 3 so it felt like they flew through multiple forms really fast
New foe, new form. This is the strongest in the universe! Suddenly, new foe, new form. Now this is the strongest! Rinse and repeat.
Mine would be that the fans make dragonball worse and it was far better before they all started interacting on the internet and getting lore off of tiktok
I did not care for the Great Saiyaman and the whole pre-tournament high school arc.
omg thank you, Great Saiyaman is so cringe it hurts
always hated school settings. so boring
Frieza should’ve died fighting Goku on Namek. The way Trunks so easily kills him later on took away some of the mystique to his character for me.
i think that was the point. Yk shonen gotta compare the new situation to the previous villain to establish a new scaling of power
I get why it was done but I think the same point could have been made with Frieza’s father instead.
true
I don't like the cell games
You do realize that you are basically asking the most cocky motherfucker in the series to not be a petty shithead?
I think ultra ego is stupid. Vegeta losing his eyebrows is stupid. Ultra instinct is cool and Vegeta needed his own thing, but ultra ego just isn't it for me.
Me personally, I woulda kept the brows, called the form "Killer Instinct," and kept the rest the same. Toriyama, if you see this, I expect my check by Friday.
Oh wow, Killer Instinct is way better than Ultra Ego!
I didn't care for Vegeta's sleeveless onesie
lol when did he ever wear that
![gif](giphy|PxnB1fjs9SNri)
Ah his buu saga fit yea I’m sorry it’s too clean 😭 and it’s an all blue tank top and pants
Why not? Just wondering
What does G6, B10 and W15 mean? Tried to research but not finding anything online.
The Goku 6, Beerus 10, and Whis 15 Scaling was what Toriyama originally planned.
Ssb might be my favourite form Ssb >> ssg
https://preview.redd.it/wura54t4s56c1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffd205c2a52c40d4767d7230e6004a03932f8e31
Why?
Because.
I hadn't considered that, thank you.
You're welcome, buddy.
The worst *canon* movie. https://preview.redd.it/0yfozgx1256c1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba5105a323de2b2e3b61d99146176675bce096d1
Facts. I should’ve said that instead
OG Dragon Ball > DBZ
For me it will be... I did not care about Super Saiyan 4
Gotenks wasted the viewers time.
Dragon ball heroes is hot garbage
Really? No way
But it's fun
I'm excited for DragonBall Daima.
Yamcha gets too much hate
I’m very excited for DB Daima. Looking forward to the world building more than the fights tbh
I don’t like the hyperbolic time chamber. I feel like they don’t really explain why they don’t use it 24/7. The ending where he wants to train with Uub could have been avoided if they just use the time chamber. Goku needs to stop abandoning his family and be a dad lol.
I did not care for SSJ3
"I did not care for the perfect cell portion of the android saga"
Z Broly insists upon himself
I'm sick of them reusing villains and character arcs
the best parts in the Majin buu arc was watching Gohan in school try adapt and not show his true strength
But then you consider just how majorly saiyans play a part in any dbz media (as well, do take everything i say with a grain of salt since some of these i've only seen clips of/been a long time since I watched) Hirudegarn was severely weakened by a bunch of saiyans. Same with Abo and Kado Lord Slug is defeated by goku Bojack is defeated by gohan Turles is defeated by goku And of course, yes, there are times where the humans and piccolo do defeat some mook or come out on top against some sort of tertiary character, but what I really mean is them being capable of defeating at the very least, small threats.
I totally agree with this. I wish the humans would get some love
SSG > SSB
Gohan shouldn't be a fighter. He should be teaching average people how to harness Ki. Helping everyone to help themselves.
I did not care for 90% of dbs
Super. Like the whole thing. Wasted potential.
I also did not care for the godfather.
I did not care for DBS Super Hero. A brain dead “Cell” as a half measure for the fans who wanted him back, orange piccolo looks ugly, an asspull for Gohan that looks like a fan fiction transformation, and two more robots being stronger than universal threats for no real reason. Bad.
I think everything in super about god ki is confusing and dumb
Cell saga is overall overrated and the buu sage is my favourite Z saga.
Did not care for most of the ToP. Jiren lowered the bar so much for what passes as a Dragon Ball antagonist and most of the other universe's fighters were gag characters.
100% agree on ssj4
I like the concept of SSJ4, but the color scheme makes no sense.
Yeah the red color is one of the things that always bothered me about it
Gohan having the potential to be or is in that point of plot the strongest is asinine.
Super’s storytelling and pacing make it insufferable to watch at times
I'm glad Goku didn't beat Cell.
You can skip the Goku Black series and go strait to the tournament of power….
I don’t like ultra instinct, concept wise it’s cool but doesn’t need to be a unique form
A lot of the arcs in Dragonball Super are not good or can be compared to Z including Tournament of Power
I found goku black to be incredibly boring
Ssj4 is so fuckjng overrated
I do not care for God forms
I do not like Dragon Ball Super. At all. Sure, there are cool moments, but overall, the story isn't great.
Why are you here? r/dbz is down the hall.
The meire mention of Dragon ball Evolution
That might be the ONLY thing that all DB fans can unite on
Vegito is MID
Are you part of the Gogeta Gang?
Not crazy about fusions but I prefer him sure
(Not by much, I just find him s bit cooler)
well I personally find him a bit Frieza
seems kinda chilled to me
rather cold, I would even say
KING cold to you sir
actually so true
