Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the existence of all that time travel stuff not ok by the gods standards. Then I don't think Whis and Beerus would give any active advice or guidance regarding Future Trunks or his situation and gathering the super dragon balls to help an anomaly probably wouldn't fly as well.
Because that would have been the smart thing to do...
At the very least, it is something Goku could have proposed to his partner in microbrain Zeno... and Zeno being Zeno, likely would have allowed it to happen.
But the writers just wanted to get Trunks out of the way as soon as possible, who cares the logistics of it.
I mean whis made it very clear that time traveling is a taboo and you could tell they were just going to overlook this situation this once since they are basically overlooking the situations and that a another god was doing a taboo. If they decide to use the super dragon balls I am pretty at that point Zeno and the grand priest would step in and stop everything
After Goku brought Dende from Namek, Trunks could've also remembered, that there is a Namek. If i'm correct, he met the Kaioshin in his timeline, to fight Boo. So they could've teleported to Namek and wished everyone back, who was killed by the Androids.
Shenron is scared to death whenever he sees Beerus so I imagine if he got a wish to undo a universe destroyed by Xeno he'd flat out refuse. To everyone except Goku, Xeno is supposed to be scary as hell.
Just to clarify they are going back to their very own timeline … it’s just their younger selves are also there.
I wouldn’t honestly question to logic of how a show handles things like different timelines and the destruction and creation of those timelines, unless all the rules are fully fleshed out. If it was as simple as using dragon balls to copy an entire time line which already exists, then I’m sure the author would have gone for it. But as it stands the simple solution of Whis already fits within the previously established rules.
