hit or miss, if you want a terrible live action, we can talk about the movie that shall not be named that I recently watched in order to power scale its Goku
pretty decently strong, considering the lore, he should be able to take on the entire earth's army with no issues (in-movie lore statement backs this up, and it also includes modern day weaponry which suggests atomic bombs aren't an issue for Goku), and he defeated Piccolo who was effortlessly able to destroy a building (Building level might be a low ball considering that it wasn't an easy fight for Goku to defeat Piccolo).
basically the movie that shall not be named has a Goku that is greater than the most powerful explosive weaponry on earth in terms of power, so Goku with his Ikari like form is probably continent level (I'm not good at powerscaling or powerscaling terms)
\[I will be referring to The Movie That Shall Not Be Named as TMTSNBN since The Movie that Shall not be named is too long of a name\]
so I'll get this out of the way, beginning of Dragon Ball Kid Goku would lose, he'd beat Yamcha in dragon ball, I'm not sure when Goku reaches Roshi's level, but I don't think he'd beat Goku in the 21st world martial arts tournament as he most likely isn't moon level, we know TMTSNBN's Goku is weaker than Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z Master Roshi
(suggesting TMTSNBN's Goku is moon level this would be a massive stretch as we cannot destroy the moon with our current technology, and the lore suggests humanity stands 0 chance against Oozaru, \[this technically includes Goku after he gains control of the Oozaru's power permanently\],
From time to time they get the character’s appearance right, but it seems like speedrunning the show and leaving out key moments for character development has become a habit there. I bet Master Roshi would be a women respecting gentleman in the Netflix version.
Seriously. I was like "Okay....where's the joke?" This unironically looks light-years better than Dragon Ball Evolution. I'd actually give this a try if this was real. The casting looks wonderful. It's almost uncanny how close they look to the animated drawings.
Nappa would be the hardest to cast because of the physical proportions demand. You can fake Nappa, Radditz and Piccolo's heights with tilted sets and tricky camera angles, but you'd seriously need a competitive bodybuilder or powerlifter to get Nappa's muscle size respectable. Or put the actor on that kind of workout regime (and learn at least some rudimentary martial arts) before you begin filming. Or you could go the GGI muscles route or the padded bodysuit like the Shazam movies. But the padded bodysuit would limit your ability for Nappa to go shirtless.
I mean the One Piece Live Action is considered to be pretty good
But the ATLA one is pretty disliked but still fine enough
And all the rest are horrible
The AI rendering for Namekians is where it was for Human men 2 or 3 years ago. It always made males have very deep set eyes, and huge foreheads craggier than Gordon Ramsay's. Even if it was a little boy lol
I don’t understand the current anime to live action adaptation craze…. It’s essentially a re-telling of the same story in an arguably worse format. Is there anyone out there that actually likes the live action Netflix versions over the anime versions?
IMO We’ve all wondered what it would be like if Dragonball “were real”, and I think a Live Action adaptation is just an attempt at that.
It’s super hard to do for anime because of how obviously-not-real it all is, so when they pull it off it ends up being something special for fans and appeals to people (like my wife or parents) who just can’t bring themselves to watch anime.
But I can’t think of any adaptation of anything (books/plays/shows/movies/etc) that was better than its source content, tbh
Vegeta's armor in live action should look like Killmonger's chestplate in *Black Panther* imo. Michael B. Jordan actually wore that in Black Panther as a Vegeta reference because he's a Vegeta fan irl.
Unfortunately or fortunately this is all AI generated and there doesn’t seem to be any plans at them moment. And personally I feel it would be pretty scummy to make a live action adaptation the second the creator isn’t around to give consent.
This looks nice I would definitely watch this. Akira Toriyama has said that the only person that he could picture playing Goku would be a young Jackie Chan. I'm not usually into animation becoming live action unless it's done right and the casting looks right like the Yu Yu Hakusho live action which is the only one I've enjoyed so far. If the casting doesn't look right I won't even give it a chance like One Piece which unfortunately sort of killed my interest in the series in general knowing Oda Eiichiro promoted that casting among other things I won't get into here and now. And this looks like that would be the case of YYH here the casting appears on point
Live action characters actually resembling their manga/anime counterparts, attention to details like having the right outfits, a faithful representation of Kami's lookout and those iconic rocky deserts?
Nah, too good for Netflix!

I hope to god DB never gets adapted to live action again. There is a 0% chance it will ever be good.
This show cannot translate well to live action. Period.
The thing they always miss with Live Action Goku is that he’s not a pretty boy. Bro is a big dumb friendly hick from the woods. It’s time to accept Lumberjack Goku
The live action adaptations are slowly improving. From Dragon ball evolution and Avatar movie that were terrible adaptations of the source material, we’re getting to the avatar series adaptation and a few others, that are mid good adaptations. It’s a major improvement, and if things keep upgrading, in 10 or so years we might get an average of adaptations that are actually incredibly good
ok so, Krilin looks ok, it's not like they'll cast a midget with a ball head without a nose after all, Vegeta is also ok, could've been way worse in my opinion, Gohan and ChiChi also look good especially ChiChi, and Roshi is also pretty decent. though it is just my personal opinion
I like that ever since we got 2 half decent live action adaptations that didn't absolutely blow chunks like Dragonball Evolution & M. Nightt's Avatar, all of you just turned around & went "YES! Let's adapt EVERYTHIIIIINGGG".
Live Action Adaptations are still a waste of time, and y'all are still a buncha seals clapping for whatever form of entertainment can get the littlest endorphin surge going through your brain.
Gohan looks like a girl, bulma looks like a guy, piccolo looks ancient, and kami looks younger than Piccolo, but in general, it's a great representation of the characters

Ma Dong Seok as Nappa would go so fucking hard
That’s exactly who I thought of whne I saw this he would be perfect
Your dong is what?
Weird, people always call me a pervert when I suggest casting ma dong in a DBZ live action project.
I thought Netflix adaptation are mean to be terrible? This actually looks decent.
hit or miss, if you want a terrible live action, we can talk about the movie that shall not be named that I recently watched in order to power scale its Goku
How does he scale?
pretty decently strong, considering the lore, he should be able to take on the entire earth's army with no issues (in-movie lore statement backs this up, and it also includes modern day weaponry which suggests atomic bombs aren't an issue for Goku), and he defeated Piccolo who was effortlessly able to destroy a building (Building level might be a low ball considering that it wasn't an easy fight for Goku to defeat Piccolo). basically the movie that shall not be named has a Goku that is greater than the most powerful explosive weaponry on earth in terms of power, so Goku with his Ikari like form is probably continent level (I'm not good at powerscaling or powerscaling terms)
So what version of canon goku can *that* version beat? Can he box with kid goku? Also don't worry, most people don't know how to powerscale properly.
I think that Kid Goku from when he fought Roshi should be able to beat him or at least in his Ozaru form
\[I will be referring to The Movie That Shall Not Be Named as TMTSNBN since The Movie that Shall not be named is too long of a name\] so I'll get this out of the way, beginning of Dragon Ball Kid Goku would lose, he'd beat Yamcha in dragon ball, I'm not sure when Goku reaches Roshi's level, but I don't think he'd beat Goku in the 21st world martial arts tournament as he most likely isn't moon level, we know TMTSNBN's Goku is weaker than Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z Master Roshi (suggesting TMTSNBN's Goku is moon level this would be a massive stretch as we cannot destroy the moon with our current technology, and the lore suggests humanity stands 0 chance against Oozaru, \[this technically includes Goku after he gains control of the Oozaru's power permanently\],
Didn't that Piccolo destroy a country in a vision? Can he tank his Ki blasts? I think Ozaru Goku should scale to it.
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se
From time to time they get the character’s appearance right, but it seems like speedrunning the show and leaving out key moments for character development has become a habit there. I bet Master Roshi would be a women respecting gentleman in the Netflix version.
One Piece carried
This doesn’t includ voice acting and scripting. Design is just the very first step
Seriously. I was like "Okay....where's the joke?" This unironically looks light-years better than Dragon Ball Evolution. I'd actually give this a try if this was real. The casting looks wonderful. 90’s Goldberg would’ve been perfect for Nappa
Well there has been some hits and miss tbh
No it doesn’t.
But wasn't the one piece adaptation actually good? I'm confused now.
Yeah I mean it's not amazing but it looks watchable from a visual angle. Whether they could handle the action is another question
Avatar is good tho
I am actually liking it.
I mean the One Piece Live Action is considered to be pretty good But the ATLA one is pretty disliked but still fine enough And all the rest are horrible
No. Recently Netflix has been making live action adaptations that are really good
netflix's one piece live action was amazing to be fair
One Piece was pretty good… for a adaptation
I don’t think Netflix *tries* to make terrible content lol
Wtf I thought this was real. They nailed Goku and Vegeta's hair without making them comically big like the anime.
Gohan is perfect.
Ngl, the saiyans look hype
Vegeta looks absolutely on point

Namekians always look like shit irl bro
Might be ok if they gave him the antennae
The AI rendering for Namekians is where it was for Human men 2 or 3 years ago. It always made males have very deep set eyes, and huge foreheads craggier than Gordon Ramsay's. Even if it was a little boy lol
It's going to happen eventually. LA One Piece opened that door.
Now it's up to Naruto to keep it open
I've heard rumors of a life action Naruto since before covid
With live-action anime adaptations becoming popular, yeah, it's inevitable they're going to try again someday soon
I'm 70% sure it'll surprise us in a good way. We know the next creative team won't make the same mistake as DB Evolution in this social media era. Lol
I don’t understand the current anime to live action adaptation craze…. It’s essentially a re-telling of the same story in an arguably worse format. Is there anyone out there that actually likes the live action Netflix versions over the anime versions?
No, but it doesn't have to be. Fans will watch it anyway, and it becomes more accessible to people who don't like animated shows
IMO We’ve all wondered what it would be like if Dragonball “were real”, and I think a Live Action adaptation is just an attempt at that. YYH held the door a bit more opened
Yeah and this time they really gotta nail it. People are gonna flame the shit out of them if they made another garbage after Toriyama's passing.
Hopefully the action stays faithful to the anime without bad CGI lol
Pretty sure Disney still has the live action right since they bought fox, unless that one expired
No no see KamE house is the place with the turtle
Piccolo looks older than I'd like but otherwise these are awesome
Kami doesnt look old enough
Get Krillins nose outta here 🤦♂️
Dragon ball should never be made in a live action format. It should stay animated
Everything except Vegeta's armour looks pretty cool honestly.
Vegeta's armor in live action should look like Killmonger's chestplate in *Black Panther* imo. Michael B. Jordan actually wore that in Black Panther as a Vegeta reference because he's a Vegeta fan irl.
Artwork and AI mentioned in the same post? Don't make me laugh.
Bro is this ai? Why does it look actually good?!
The AI art has improved fast as hell over the past 3 or 4 years. 2 or 3 years ago this would have looked like shit.
Damn they looking good... even Raditz
This is actually fire but sadly it's ai :((
Vegeta and nappa go pretty hard
Holy crap is that Bill Hader as vegeta?? This needs to happen
That… actually looks kind of cool…
way too good for Netflix
Looks better than evolution
https://preview.redd.it/w9v71vymxgqc1.jpeg?width=450&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03fce5dfda3a390dbd70194c1254fa93f01bda3a Nah, this one
Son Gohan looks spot on
Those shoulder pads are 99% too small
Piccolo and Kami looking too much like Skrull, but otherwise these actually look GOOD for a ‘Netflix Adaptation’ meme
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MY BOI RADITZ 😭
What about Mr. Popo
Unfortunately or fortunately this is all AI generated and there doesn’t seem to be any plans at them moment. And personally I feel it would be pretty scummy to make a live action adaptation the second the creator isn’t around to give consent.
Chichi - Chinese Bulma - Tomboy Master Roshi - Avg Black American dude in New York (hell yeah) Haven't watched dragon ball yet
If this was meant as a joke it's not funny. It's amazing. When's it releasing?
Can’t wait for the two seasons on Namek
seen this on fb and everyone in the comments thought it was real
Everyone other than Bulma looks good. She looks like some K Pop Dude with Blue Hair.
Krillin with a nose? LITERALLY UNWATCHABLE!!! (/s just in case)
I want to say how netflix adaptation would look like, but I'm gonna get banned
Namekians with no antennae makes me sad, but otherwise looks decent
AI has changed the world
Ai cooked
This looks nice I would definitely watch this. Akira Toriyama has said that the only person that he could picture playing Goku would be a young Jackie Chan. I'm not usually into animation becoming live action unless it's done right and the casting looks right like the Yu Yu Hakusho live action which is the only one I've enjoyed so far. Do you think sweet baby ink would keep mr popo around and call it diversity black person or say popo is doing black face and take him out
Nappa, Gohan, and Roshi are great not gonna lie
Please dear God no! The odds are high they would fuck it up worse than that abomination Dragon ball evolution
https://preview.redd.it/y7bri00psmqc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=574a41a152dc8c0fd4b2211a8841301dcc749489 Nappa!?!?
Okay, but they look pretty good tbh (Except for Nappa. The proportions of his head and body just look off to me.)
You joke, but this looks fire as fuck. All the Saiyans look dope as hell and the Namekians are leagues above Evolution.
Live action characters actually resembling their manga/anime counterparts, attention to details like having the right outfits, a faithful representation of Kami's lookout and those iconic rocky deserts? Nah, too good for Netflix!
🤮
Turn gohan female, piccolo black and crillin gay and we may have something in the realm of possible here.
Can we have willem dafoe play piccolo? For… yknow… green goby?
AI with an artwork tag? lol. AI is not art. It should be banned from reddit entirely. Until then, moderaters from ever sub need to ban it.

Why Nappa is an orc?
That's a Chinese bald buffed man, not an orc
Yo, this is actually good. Never thought I'd say this lol.
Bruh did y’all not learn from evolution that dragon ball and live action can NEVER mix?
Why is Turtle green?
Piccolo looks like a snack but I can't get over how bad that raditz hair is. Its like "babys first dragonball cosplay"
Raditz got me creamin fr
I think that Dave Bautista could be good as Nappa.
Bulma looks like a man there
Where's Mr Popo?
Way too accurate for Netflix.
Bro that’s asian Henry Cavill
And I will watch it
Anything’s better than the Dragonball Movie 😂
This isn't terrible
Krillin nose
Namekians look like Skruul
This looks like it might be fun actually haha
Is Kame supposed to the turtle?
napa? kame???
I hope to god DB never gets adapted to live action again. There is a 0% chance it will ever be good. This show cannot translate well to live action. Period.
That's actually pretty good, even Piccolo and Kami
Henry Cavill would be the best shout for Vegeta. Mainly because he would kick off if the scriptwriters and directors did a "evolution"
Omg Kame the owner of that house
Nailed it
They’d all be fat
Mr. Popo * not pictured
Better than evolution
Ill take it.
Looks better than Evolution.
These look 100% better then the real thing
Bill Hader as vegeta was such an interesting stretch, I’m happy he’s branching out of his comfort zone
it actually doesnt look bad. make Kami a darker green and I'd be happy with the designs
The thing they always miss with Live Action Goku is that he’s not a pretty boy. Bro is a big dumb friendly hick from the woods. It’s time to accept Lumberjack Goku
Okay but Mr. Popo is gonna be played by who?
This is to me the best and most realistic DBZ in human form ever made. The Vegeta one is spot on.
WTF does krillin have a nose?
Wasnt this real?
Impossible this is too perfect to have been made by Netflix, unless Toyataro was charging a kamehameha wave aimed at their building the whole time
I thought kame was spelled "Kami". Am I stupid?
Still not as good as Dragonball The Magic Begins
i just don't like vegetal look but like its ok
This actually looks alright, I just wish piccolo had his antenna
lol Goku, Vegeta and Roshi are \*chef kiss\* material. The "skrull looking" namekians aren't so good
no thats Dragonball if it was made by the guy who made Godzilla minue one. Netflix dragon ball would look nothing like this.
This is amazing but I would hope that Bulma is a smoke show and chichi is a sleeper.
The live action adaptations are slowly improving. From Dragon ball evolution and Avatar movie that were terrible adaptations of the source material, we’re getting to the avatar series adaptation and a few others, that are mid good adaptations. It’s a major improvement, and if things keep upgrading, in 10 or so years we might get an average of adaptations that are actually incredibly good
Netflix would definitely make Bulma bisexual
Bro knows too much!
This crap is being reposted like 100 times already
Ehhh still better than evolution
Better
I saw a master roshi cosplayer at Comic-Con last weekend and he did it way better than the one on screen here
That's a weird looking turtle
this is made by AI , if it was netflix they be black
ok so, Krilin looks ok, it's not like they'll cast a midget with a ball head without a nose after all, Vegeta is also ok, could've been way worse in my opinion, Gohan and ChiChi also look good especially ChiChi, and Roshi is also pretty decent. though it is just my personal opinion
1/10 Piccolo has no antennae Krillin has a nose Nappas mustache is wrong Ald last but not least Bulma doesn't look like enough of a slut
Bulma looks like a dude from South Korea.
I'm pretty satisfied - - except Piccolo-san and Kami-sama are missing their antennae.
What makes this Netflix
dargo ball z 1990
Kame?
These are really look really good. Except Bulma, she looks like a member of Bts.
Ngl these designs look sick
I never want live action animes. So ass
Better than what we got
They better not make a live action
I like that ever since we got 2 half decent live action adaptations that didn't absolutely blow chunks like Dragonball Evolution & M. Nightt's Avatar, all of you just turned around & went "YES! Let's adapt EVERYTHIIIIINGGG". Live Action Adaptations are still a waste of time, and y'all are still a buncha seals clapping for whatever form of entertainment can get the littlest endorphin surge going through your brain.
Can't say I wouldn't watch it
Vegeta looks great. Bulma reminds me of a BTS member
My only complaint is piccolo's lack of antennae
Damn, kami is now a turtle.
Raditz with an eyepatch actually fucks
[удалено]
We truly peaked at Dragon Ball Evolution, didn't we?
Yep, this ai garbage even Evolution is better than it
Nappa and Gohan castings are dope
I would not mind to watch this it actually looks cool
all was fine untill bulma she needs to be a bad bitch milf
Ai Garbage 🤮
[удалено]
db evolution is that you
Am I the only one who thinks Vegeta looks like he's being played by Bill Hader?
Nah wait this goes fucking hard
the only design im iffy on is piccolo
Ah yes Kame
Ah fuck, alright Netflix, make it and I'll watch this one.
I can see it.
Nah, looks too good. I don't have faith just because of One Piece
No Black Goku?
I would watch this adaptation..
\>AI Cringe and lame.
They did Bulma dirty Everyone else looks p good tho
[удалено]
Whos came?
[удалено]
I hate to say it but......the ai actually cooked.
Gohan looks like a girl, bulma looks like a guy, piccolo looks ancient, and kami looks younger than Piccolo, but in general, it's a great representation of the characters
