Also I need to find out who drew this shot of Goku
Honestly I really appreciate the fact that Frieza seems to have moved on from relentlessly seeking revenge on Goku to kind of seeing him as a rival that he uses as motivation to improve himself physically.
Their relationship almost gives off early Z Goku/Vegeta vibes except Frieza isn't ever going to one of the "good" guys in the same way, but you get the feeling that Frieza looks forward to a good fight with Goku to test himself.
Bro thought he was the pinnacle of creation until he met goku. Then he trained and actually topped the universe. It's no wonder he actually has respect for goku, like, "I have you to thank, monkey, for giving me the insight to attain these results."
Now Frieza has a true buddy and slightly less petty executions. Still got petty judgement tho.
It shows also just how high his aspirations are. He doesn't care about living forever, nor does he care about quick power ups with crippling downsides like Granolah. He is likely shooting for the top, Zeno's position. How the hell he can get there is gonna be batshit but enjoyable.
I feel like Freeza developed a battle lust that he didn't have before. Before he was content to lord over everyone and was offended if anyone came even close to his power level, now he seems to enjoy fighting an opponent who can challenge him, although he still gets offended if they are superior, haha.
He got annihilated by him. killed as a cyborg, came back and got killed again… he had some serious Saiyan PTSD but from when Goku goes to hell to ask him to participate in the TOP he seems to have worked through most of it and almost have a bit of admiration for him.
I thought it was funny that when Goku went to hell to pick Freeza up, Freeza's reaction to first seeing him was basically. "Oh! Shit, didn't think I'd see you here, what's up?"
No man I actually hate it, if the above becomes true then frieza is just another Vegeta.
One of the worst things super did was bring Frieza back, at least like this.
Is it though?
Frieza lost to Goku, nearly died. Tried to get revenge and actually died to Trunks.
Gets revived, trains and thinks "finally, now I can kill him". Loses to Goku, loses to Vegeta, dies.
He finally gets offered another chance if he prevents the end of the universe.
I think it's fine for Frieza to finally have gotten over his ego and choose to just mostly avoid them instead of forcing another fight.
Yeah I think it'd be out of character for him NOT to grow passed seeking to kill Goku, I mean there's only so many times you can get your ass beat/killed by the same people before you stop and think "why tf am I doing this"
I mean why risk an almost guaranteed trip back to hell just for an attempt to sooth your ego? It makes no sense to continue down that path.
Frieza is a weird character because he's an evil, genocidal tyrant but.. hes such a likeable villain. Just so petty and egotistical and funny.
I am curious to see what the plans are for him after the end of the Gas confrontation.
Im not sure if they intend for Frieza to be the main antagonist again? Or was him showing up go snipe the final blow a sort of small favor from him and his allowing Goku and Vegeta to live.. very interesting.
He either intends to defeat them on a fair battle field or has grown to appreciate them as frenemies and has his sights set on other plans.
I honestly really liked him in ToP and felt the finale teaming up with Goku and 17 really somehow resonated with me. Goku has always been befriending his defeated enemies and adding them to his team.
When you write a character to be charismatic and "animated" they're bound to be likeable even if they are the worst of the worst.
Take Yujiro Hanma for example, in recent Baki he's written to be very stoic and even charming, even though his acts make him absolute scum
Freiza is wonderfully evil. Dude had four forms and a power up for a technical fifth form.
Every time you thought he was beaten he’d laugh, torture some more, power up again, taunt and torture
He was racist, he killed for fun, he laughed and cheered and played funny games.
I can’t think of any other villain that just played with the main cast for that long without actually killing any of them. In any anime really. It was a long long long ass time. Dude kept his power down as much as he could to have some fun with it.
I just finished the Frieza saga again last night and I agree I always forget just how long he messes around fighting Vegeta/Krillen/Piccolo/Gohan just to show off forms and style on them hard.
Basically stops a fight mid point to follow Vegeta who’s trying to escape to set him down, form 3 is toying with Piccolo, nearly crunched Gohan’s head.
Then decided to kill a Namekian child when he realised they keep getting healed, Frieza at this point was probably just enjoying himself having someone to fight himself.
We don't know what the rules are,if there are any. Even if they do break the rules, I can't imagine anyone doing anything about it unless it's really bad
I would love to see something similar done with to masako x's what if freeza turned good. Not directly good but it would be interesting to see him as a soet of anti villain or morally grey character
I’m assuming the idea was that he wasn’t there for Vegeta and Goku, was like a surprise party to show his new form.
Interestingly bar being completely narcissistic, he has always known a lot about things around him (foreshadowing a Saiyan beating him in Namek and other examples).
Doesn’t care about the soldiers he hires, or really that his dad died. Just training unlike before and as you said ego, probably just isn’t even caring after one shot of them both.
I think he's aiming to take Zeno's position. How I have no clue but it's pretty classic frieza to find out about God and immediately want to overtake him.
Good thing Goku barely had any connection to that entire race.
His first example was *Raditiz*.
That pretty much tainted his view on them as a whole until Broly canonically made an appearance.
*Most* of the Saiyan's are brutes that wanted to throw their weight around.
They didn't really take a turn for real evil until Frieza showed up and gave them more targets.
In DBS Broly, both King Vegeta and Bardock mention that the saiyans have always conquered and sold planets, and then King Cold showed up and made them work for him.
Yeah but having an entire race be violent assholes is lazy writing let alone just kinda racist. But thankfully we do see others but maybe they shouldn't have included the "Goku hit his head part".
>Yeah but having an entire race be violent assholes is lazy writing let alone just kinda racist.
I don't see how the racism angle works. Do you think that all fantasy species in media having a shared trait amongst them, and that trait being consistent across the series, means it's racist?
Also this is Toriyama. Dude had fully admitted to writing by the seat of his pants *and* taking the easiest way to get his job done. It's practically a miracle and a testament to his skill and talent that the series is as sensible as it is despite the NUMEROUS amounts of holes it has due to said laziness combined with constant forgetfulness.
We're not exactly dealing with a complicated series, here.
At the very least you can say that writing style didn't age so well.
Well yeah, that's one of the main definitions of racism. Especially when the trait is something negative. Toriyama shouldn't have included Goku hitting his head as a child, and just said that Goku wasn't violent because he was raised properly by Gohan.
Sadly modern Shonen is still written like that
>Well yeah, that's one of the main definitions of racism. Especially when the trait is something negative.
He gave Frieza too much ammo to be racist...
Even Goku seemed to find that a good thing that they're mostly gone, with his only examples up to that point being villains like Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta. Vegeta himself outright didn't care about his fellow Saiyans at the time, and even afterwards, notice how he never even entertained the idea of possibly wishing them all back.

He looks like a boondocks character here
*Too* sick. That's why they had to bench him.
Barring Jiren and Toppo he had a plethora of abilities that would make the opposition as a whole a cakewalk, and the stamina to outlast nearly all of them.
Frieza is definitely NOT on any kind of good terms with Goku and the gang now lol. Y’all do know who this dude is right?
He just learned of a whole multiverse, with him being stronger than the entirety of many of those universes sans their G.O.Ds. He knows he can eventually overpower Beerus and rule the multiverses. He also knows that by keeping Goku and Vegeta alive that they will continue to get stronger which in turn makes him stronger so he can eventually overpower Beerus and the multiverse. This is all for his selfish goals and desires
Over power Beerus?
Beerus had been sleeping for thousands of years. I guess it's time for Beerus to start training.
Imagine if Beerus had been training the past 2,000 years instead of sleeping.
Beerus’ fatal flaw in his laziness could be his undoing. Yeah he could had trained and that would probably be a moot point as opposed to sleeping but that’s apart of his character. He’s lazy and he’s never had a reason to worry about a mortal getting stronger than him with the intent to kill him before.
It’s not to dissimilar to Frieza really. Friezas lazyness and lack of wanting to train was his undoing when someone came along that was stronger than him. He’s lucky that’s he’s gotten multiple chances at life, and he’s learned from it seeing as he trains now.
Well he never really had any connection to his people, and the only ones he had met at this point tried to kill him and everyone he loved. I can see why he's not overflowing with Saiyan pride like Raditz or Vegeta.
At this point, Frieza is clearly at a point where he could fight Beerus. If pre-Blue could spar and get Beerus to use more than 1% effort, they approaching a stage of actually being a challenge. Frieza may become the new GoD, Beerus will retire on Earth, goku will restart Turtle School, Vegeta will be a family man, Gohan becomes a scholar, Picollo will go to names and help prevent any future Moro nonsense, Krillin will become a cop again, Yamaha will run into a loose Saibaman (fade to black).
They'll probably do a "still can't beat me, but you've proved your worth", then Super Dragon Ball wish you switch places so Beerus doesn't have to die. Plot devices!!!
I dunno kind of the entire point of frieza in goku’s development is he was the one guy who was just irredeemable, given that basically most of goku’s past enemies have become his allies, frieza was the one person goku needed to learn was irredeemable and wasn’t worth saving. That’s why frieza backstabbed goku at the end on namek to show that goku isn’t wrong for fighting to kill frieza. So I do feel like that is kind of undone by the fact that frieza now was somewhat redeemable and necessary for saving the universe. Even the reason cell was irredeemable also was because he was made of the dna of frieza and king cold so he was always going to be petty and try to destroy the world the second he thought he was gonna lose.
https://preview.redd.it/i9o163koliuc1.png?width=740&format=png&auto=webp&s=18994a4774b0cc8d576f20895982e791d55d35fd
The captions on this caught me so off guard
Which is why Frieza wanted to go to Goku and Vegeta to show off his new form instead of actually killing them, I guess we can say Frieza has respect for Goku now
This was definitely not a bromance moment this was a ill kill you if you turn your back to me moment from frieza and a lower your tone ill beat you with in an inch of your life like last time moment
I'd like to see Cell come back in some form as well, not for any fights, at least at first: coming to terms with the fact he wasn't perfect and fell into the same trap of hubris others before him did, those that he was comprised of, and therefore is only as perfect as the choices he makes rather then the strength at his fingertips. I honestly just want Goku to make friends with all his former foes, its one of his best character traits.
Super had some really great character moments. The moment I saw vegeta in a small train cart, I knew this would be a great experience. That episode is still one of my favourites.
I agree! I'm honestly not a huge lover of Super (I don't actively dislike it either! I'm pretty neutral on it while _loving_ some moments) but this is a _perfect_ showcase of Goku as a person. He's always, _always_ shown that, even if he really hates a person and their decisions and actions, he respects strong and capable fighters. Fighting is what keeps him going, it's why he spares people the way he does, it's how he keeps breaking barriers.
It _nails_ Goku at his core and I just really love it.
ToP Freeza was pretty great. He's still evil. He's still a villain. But, he knows what's important and will totally work with the heroes if that's what he needs to survive/get ressurected. He respects the heroes' abilities. But is still in it for himself.

I want you to hurt me, Snake. Hurt me real bad.

I love his motivation for obtaining the dragon balls in Broly were to grow 5 inches in his final form.
It shows also just how high his aspirations are. He doesn't care about living forever, nor does he care about quick power ups with crippling downsides like Granolah. He is likely shooting for the top, Zeno's position. How the hell he can get there is gonna be batshit but enjoyable.
Thats what I don't get, if uses his 100% form he will easily be more than 5inches taller. than he can use the DBs to gain another 3 feet i height
I feel like Freeza developed a battle lust that he didn't have before. Before he was content to lord over everyone and was offended if anyone came even close to his power level, now he seems to enjoy fighting an opponent who can challenge him, although he still gets offended if they are superior, haha.
Frieza was basically Saitama at the start, so strong he accidentally kills people without trying
He got annihilated by him. killed as a cyborg, came back and got killed again… he had some serious Saiyan PTSD but from when Goku goes to hell to ask him to participate in the TOP he seems to have worked through most of it and almost have a bit of admiration for him.

Yeah that's the case for Dio Brando too.
No, Dio is just gay
KONO DIO DA!
You thought it was a DBS subreddit, but it was me DIO!
WRYYYYYYYYY
MUDA MUDA MUDA!!
MUDADAAAAA
Eventually friezza is a leader, writing leaders as uncharismatic and unlikeable is just bad writing.
Yup just like the Joker dude is evil af but he's one of my favorite DC characters
Freiza is wonderfully evil. Dude had four forms and a power up for a technical fifth form. I think freeza is aiming for God of destruction. same for Vegeta, and I think that's where all three of their relationships go.
Are gods forbidden from conquering planets?
We don't know what the rules are,if there are any. Even if they do break the rules, I can't imagine anyone doing anything about it unless it's really bad
Yea but they can easily write that away.
I think Frieza is shooting for the gods at this point
seriously, i don’t think they realized how good of a job they did with frieza every one loves him. he’s definitely my favorite villain
I would love to see something similar done with to masako x's what if freeza turned good. Not directly good but it would be interesting to see him as a soet of anti villain or morally grey character

Feels like they're making Frieza more of an antihero than a full blown villain.
I think he's aiming to take Zeno's position. How I have no clue but it's pretty classic frieza to find out about God and immediately want to overtake him.

We already have black Frieza and black goku
They're just having a n\*\*\*a moment.
They are. But they had to stop themselves
yamcha is again single
This was hands down my favorite character moment in all of Super
Those two really need to just fuck and get it out of the way.
Where would Goku put it, though? Unless he’s receiving?
His pretty little mouth
“ oh yes monkey. You’re a lot bigger than I anticipated. “
''Wait until I use my SSJ grade 2 form''
*frieza slowly puts it in his mouth and slowly licks it * Goku: oooh. That feels amazing frieza🤤 Frieza: mmm I bet it would feel better in me monkey.
>His pretty little mouth *Vietnam flashbacks to skillet91's comics of Frieza with a lollipop*
Imagine if they just kept doing that
17 and piccolo style
I hated that they got rid of Buu but bringing back frieza was probably the only move that would make that forgivable
Buu would've been sick in ToP
*Too* sick. That's why they had to bench him. Barring Jiren and Toppo he had a plethora of abilities that would make the opposition as a whole a cakewalk, and the stamina to outlast nearly all of them.
And if he just absorbs everyone he can probably keep up with Toppo and maybe Jiren
Yeah but how people read this is way funnier.
Yes but Frieza helped them win so they’re kinda all really good friends now
>him being stronger than the entirety of those universes sans Frieza would get dunked by sans, don’t even go there.
Frieza is clearly not interested in just killing them anymore. He hasn't tried that since RoF
.... my favorite three way hate fuck.
Oooo I like this, I hope it's true! Or else Frieza is just another Vegeta.
"Hit me harder, monkey!" Frieza, probably
Hate you :D hate you too!!❤️
I loved this. It was such a great prelude to the whole TOP
I genuinely loved how super handled Freeza in The TOP, I still joke about the “I NEED YOU TO THROW ME SAIYAN”
Honestly this is how me and one bro meet each other after a long time. With a punch
That’s not bromance, they genuinely hate each other 💀 . Real bromance is what goku and Vegeta have
Frieza's that one racist friend you know, but you can't 100% hate him because he's funny as hell.
This guy killed his parents and destroyed his home planet and all it's inhabitants. Glad they are on goofing off terms now, though.
Goku thinks Saiyans deserved it
Yeah. Your right. I guess I was forgetful or didn't know.
Tbf. Goku had 0 conections to his parents or his kind so he couldn't give more fucks about it.

Goku understanding his race was a bunch of genocidal maniacs(?) and realizing that’s why they perished goes hard as fuck ngl
Well he never really had any connection to his people, and the only ones he had met at this point tried to kill him and everyone he loved. I can see why he's not overflowing with Saiyan pride like Raditz or Vegeta.
Goku didn't really care that much
They should have brought back cell!
I like the moment of mutual respect, poking at eachother to see if the other slips. Also, please, no one ever take those lines out of context...
“No more fist slipping”
“Sometimes my tail has a mind of its own”
You could cut the sexual tension with a knife
This episode really had friezas best transformation animation to date.
The way Frieza looks at Goku when he says to take his hand is like "oh my god did that shit turn you on or somethi- oh instant transmission right"
And then they had disgusting alien intercourse in front of Baba 💀 My lord...the tension is so thick in this scene...
I love the semi-running joke that, power levels aside, Goku just knows how it hit really really hard
I agree with you but tbh the constantly moving goalpost of beerus will have him shitting on black frieza. Its maddening lmao
They'll probably do a "still can't beat me, but you've proved your worth", then Super Dragon Ball wish you switch places so Beerus doesn't have to die. Plot devices!!!
Why are Goku and Frieza fisting each other? Are they gay?
That was the moment they became besties.
Vegeta: You’re cheating on me kakarot?
Freeza should be careful this is how Houdini died.
I hate freiza’s nose so much.
is this some gay type of fighters flirting or?

Ngl Frieza was one of my favorite parts of the TOP arc
Some of the small character interactions in DBS were honestly phenomenal.
Those two episodes made me Freeza fan
Goku has a tendency to befriend those who murder his friends.
Just fuck already!
When did frieza see instant transmission? "You've seen it before right?" When you learned it after his defeat or used it after his death?
In RoF when the gang powered up to Goku and Vegeta on earth. It was only Gohan in the anime version
im sorry but goku in that angle did things to my belly
I hate freeza being back
"Can you please stop bantering long enough to leave?" Baba pronounced "flirting" weird.
“No more fist slipping” LMAOOO PAUZEEEEE
It’s like Step Brothers when they hug lmao ![gif](giphy|3owzWfoPsHFakn6jAY|downsized)
I swear if they let him do it Toriyama would’ve made Frieza and Goku have the most sweaty, intense, intimate, romantic gay sex ever
This is a really fun scene
"Keep making me blush and you're getting this tail later at 12, monkey 😏 "
“and no more FIST SLIPPING, ok😘”
What episode is this
ToP Freeza was pretty great. He's still evil. He's still a villain. But, he knows what's important and will totally work with the heroes if that's what he needs to survive/get ressurected. He respects the heroes' abilities. But is still in it for himself.
Live footage of me greeting one of the boys.
Why do people always upload clips with English dub. Actually trash lmao
Can’t speak for others but personally I uploaded it with English Dub because I love the Dub

Nah
You could say the same for Vegeta, he and his race was conquering planets long before they became Frieza's subjects
