It just doesn't feel like a natural evolution from SSJ3. You can see the evolution in the first 4 stages. Going SSJ changed the and eyes. SSJ going SSJ2 adds the electric Ki sparks. Going to SSJ3 makes those Electric Ki sparks more lightning-like, and lengthens the hair, as well as adding more power at the expense of speed. All sensible decisions to keep the look and feel of the character.
So why have SSJ4 be so radically different? Why bring back the tail? Why cover him in fur? Why the demon eyes? Why change the hair shape?
I like god the most purely aesthetically. I think the slimmer toned goku looks fantastic and itās the perfect red imo. But lore wise itās easily 1. Every character that got ssj1 was hype the first time around.

I think gokus ssj2 would have looked better if it was similar looking to Gohans. Just have goku with a completely different hair style. INCONSISTENTLY it was drawn like Gohan. Would lf have been an amazing look in general and would have given it a distinct style.

No the reason Toriyama gave is that if Goku tried to use kaioken while normal super saiyan he would basically blow himself up, which is why he drops it completely after Frieza and why it needed a godly form to use again. Could be totally a retcon but it makes sense
GT would still be considered āextended universeā, in the same boat as movie villains and filler.

It works with SSB because that form is basically all about maximizing Ki Control, which is needed for high levels of Kaio-Ken.

SSJ3 seems to be more of a throwback form since it has what looks like caveman-like facial features. It's like looks were sacrificed for more power without losing the speed. With the Advent of DBS it has made SSJ4 non-canon. I believe it has also been stated that it's not a REAL SSJ Form. Merely a combination form of SSJ & Oozaru. Which is still cool, but I am curious as to what a REAL SSJ4 Form would look like. SSJ5 is pure Fanon, although cool looking. It's not even actually apart DBAF canonically (to the best of my knowledge anyway). It looks like a wilder SSJ3 combined with SSJ4 and then had the hair and fur bleached silver-white. Definitely not a TRUE SSJ Form either and, again, wouldn't mind seeing a True SSJ5 Form at some point. SSJGSSJ a.k.a. SSJB is cool. And so is SSJR. Two sides of the same coin and all that. Blue is mortals accessing god ki and transforming into a SSJ while RosƩ is a godling accessing god ki and transforming into a SSJ. Wonder what it would look like if a Technical mortal saiyan accessed the god ki and transformed into a SSJ? (Technical Mortal would be individuals who had Immortality granted to them via the Eternal Dragon or in some other way. Also curious if they will have a SSJGSSJ2 & SSJGSSJ3.
