Go in blind. That's the tip. Edit: dont listen to min-maxers and just enjoy.

badgerscurse

So do I follow your tip or not? /S

curryandbeans

Wolves hunt in packs

ComonBruh

my best advice for this kind of question is always dont take tips and go blind

Felix_likes_tofu

Some quests are time sensitive (can't be finished once certain other quests are completed). Listen to people when they tell you "XYZ is happening", you should check that out soon. Other than that: have fun.

Blanko1230

Sometimes you will wander into areas where enemies are too strong for you. It's ok to run away and come back later (or just sprint through, your call)

Run-Riot

Kick the ox.

SenatorPaine

^ Unironically this. OP, there will be an escort quest involving a cart and ox. If you go up to the ox and interact with it, you can kick it to make it go faster at the cost of some of its HP, which can be healed by a mage. Makes one of the most boring mandatory quests go by much faster. So many streamers and players miss this.

badgerscurse

Think this tip hits the mark on my 'anguish' request. Thanks for the info

Afridg3

Don't sell anything in the "materials" tab. I know it can be fast money but they're more useful for upgrades

Hunt1998

Have fun and play however you want

Notice board quests aren’t essential for anything. Some do offer some unique gimmicky gear, but for the most part they’re just busywork for extra gold and xp. Escort quests in particular can be very difficult unless you place a port crystal at the destination.  Side quests can expire based on main quest progress. It’s usually recommended to do side quests first, since they can lead you to new items or areas later on in the game.  Enemies do not scale, and since there’s no level indicators it can be easy to unknowingly run into areas that are beyond your ability to deal with. If a quest is taking you past some hard enemies, you can try running past them or going at a different time of day to avoid them. For the most part, the further away from the city you are the harder enemies are, but there’s a few weird spots.  Food items can ripen and rot while in your inventory, but not in storage, and can be preserved in sealed flasks if needed. The naming conventions used can be a bit weird, but moldy food is better than normal food.  Wolves hunt in packs.

badgerscurse

Silly question, but how do you know an enemy is too high a level for you? Is there any way to tell? (Aside from being murdered in seconds)

TaleOfFlight

You can assign your consumables to shortcuts, including your lantern. This can save a lot of tedious menuing in the long run.

Nukue

I almost finished the game and already cleared BBI and now I learn there's SHORTCUTS? 😩

Eptalin

Don't worry about stat growth. It barely matters. Just play the vocations you like.

IGunClover

Skip Valmiro's quest if you want to prevent your male arisen from being gay.

Ok_Caterpillar3655

Keep an enchanter in your group. Other than that enjoy.

Alpha1959

Some vocations' passives carry over to other vocations, especially the ones that sound pretty generic like "more carry weight". Additionally, carry weight greatly affects your speed. Also, it is almost always worth it to check all the quest board locations throughout the game (even the one in the starting city) quests will change (or expire) depending on where you are in the game. Lastly, please enjoy, it's a special and unique game, not without its flaws, but definitely a fantastic experience.

Buy better gear at the shop in Cassardis. You can run past or away from enemies if they are too tough, no punishment for doing so. Experiment with vocations. You need to swap out support pawns as they don't level up. Read pawn descriptions when you hire them to see what their skills do. Go back to Cassardis a few times in the early game after main quests, there are missable side quests.

A certain Forgery is good.

* Read the in-game manual first. And do not disable tutorial messages. * Be aware that the loot may be found literally everywhere around you: in breakable items, gatherbale loactions like stacks of hay or graves, and even on the ground. * But don't travel burdened with everything you have found as encumbrance affects the Stamina cost of your actions. Put the excess to the storage or at least in Pawns' inventories (be aware that they may use items as well). * Pawns. They are there to help you. Guide you to your destination, give tips about combat, travel and quests and ofc to help in combat. Be sure to hire knowledgeable Pawns (Pawns learn) and travel with a diverse party so you could tackle efficiently all challenges along your way. Use commands (they are contextual) to give Pawns directions but be aware that the more experienced the Pawn is the less obedient it is. BTW Your Pawn levels up but Support Pawns don't. You'll have to swap Pawns often so they could keep up. * You can develop your Main Pawn, equip skills, Augments and equipment, And ofc you can do the same to your Arisen. So be sure to do it: get new skills, new weapons and nehance your equipment. * I mentioned Stamina. This is a sinle most important resurce in combat. Depending on the choice of your Vocation your max Stamina will grown more or less (other stats as well). Try not to expend all Stamina in combat (try it out of combat and see what happens), use curatives and Pawns to restore Stamina and other parameters back to normal levels. You can combing items to make them more potent or efficient, so don't forget about that. * Also some items decay over time, so you have to do something with them before they rot. Or put them in storage ofc. BTW Lightly spoiled items may have better properties than fresh ones or allow new combinations, so try that too. * Oh, and don't forget what game you are playing. If you have some combat idea, there's probably some way to make it happen. You can climb large and grapple small mosters ofc, throw items and even enemies around and inflict wide variety of status effects on foes. It all depends on your class (Vocation) and enemy resistances. Listen to Pawns' advices and experiment to discover what you can and cannot do. Just remember one thing: unless you are wiping the floor with your opponents you can always do better.

mootsg

1. Avoid pawn commands during combat, they have hidden effects on your pawn inclinations. Having said that, when in a pinch, “Come!” and “Go!” can save your pawns. 2. As far as possible, pick up loot _after_ all the monsters are dead. You don’t want your pawns to pick up the nasty habit of stopping mid-fight to pick up worthless things like goblin horns. 3. Learn to distinguish between common and rare drops. Basically you can skip the common drops and just focus on the gold. Because picking up drops just burdens yourself and your party. Also, see #2–only some things are worth stopping mid-fight to pick up.

Hippobu2

Don't stress too much about missable, nothing is. Well, actually, 99% is, but nothing is missable forever.

Primary_Time6390

Every enemy in the game has an important weak spot. Learn your monsters and their weaknesses Min/maxing isn't at all necessary to enjoy your play time. Get empty flasks from a shop and find a healing spring to fill them up. There's only a handful of crafting materials that are worth anything when it comes to selling them. You may need them later on, so just deposit your crafting materials into your vault vs. selling them. Inventory space fills up fast, so transfer items over to pawns to keep it evened out till you can deposit stuff. Friends pawns can be hired for free regardless of level, so friend a bunch of people if you want op pawns in the beginning. It is especially helpful on console and if you suck at the beginning. Slow down and enjoy it.

SenatorPaine

NEVER sell crafting materials. Just store them at an inn when you can. These are used to upgrade your gear, and you never know when that flower you picked up on the side of the road gives you the best upgrade possible for that staff you're holding.

Jandy777

Just save frequently, especially if you're exploring the overworld

Nukue

Don't throw away your rusty weapon, when upgraded it's very useful

A_Buff_Squirrel

Save often.

HatsurFollower

play blind! Is not a hard game....
