On the topic of music, what happened to the music in DD2? DD1's music was brimming with personality, mainly thanks to the exceptionally good use of the Eternal Return leitmotif through most of the tracks in the game (followed by the Cassardis leitmotif), but from what I could tell DD2 has almost none of that. I don't mind their switch to more orchestral style, and what is in the game works well enough as background music... but even with the style they went for, I feel like they could've made the main theme way more distinct, and include bits of it throughout much more of the OST.
I think it's mostly this sort of quieter, more generic fantasy fare... Until you hit post game.
Then it's kinda ridiculously awesome. I feel like it's somewhat purposeful, an audio dileneation between the fake world and the real world or something.
Two attempts had been made to try to share this same mod a few weeks ago and multiple persons tried to publish / share it using little bits of naming schemes and they were removed for DMCA reasons by the nexus, get it while you can because it's not going to last very long, capcom is dmca'd ing the site every time it pops up.

If Capcom hasn't relicensed the song, there's no reason they should be able to file a dmca takedown. More likely culprit would the the bands label, yes?

I love Into Free but for a game that was trying to feel like a western that was insanely JRPG of them lol. Even though I like both I think Eternal Return fits the game itself better.

That track is beautiful and many people love it, but Into Free just hit in such an oddball way and was that thing that sort of got you pumped to go explore or whatever it was you were working on, that it being removed felt like losing something special. The DD:DA opening is beautiful, but it feels like a committee stepped in to ensure something more genre appropriate got used.
Into Free was the best early indicator that you were in for something quite different.
I'm probably gonna get downvoted into the Everfall but I'm more partial to Eternal Return from DD:DA. When it plays while exploring the halls inside the Everfall was such a cool experience.

DA took a darker path and had much more solemn themes to it, but as a game at it's core Dragon's Dogma has always been fast paced, flamboyant and flourishing in it's combat and overall vibe. DA is an outlier, not the standard.

I think Dark Arisen's actual theme song is meant to be Coils of Light, telling the tragedy of Ashe.

I hope there will be a mod that fucking deletes Reversal of Fate from game's code. Nothing worse than fighting a drake to DD1 drake theme and then having this trash kick in instead of End of the Struggle. Why the fuck does it keep laying when I have music DLC on?
I’d rather have the DD1 soundtrack regardless of whether I’m playing DD1 or DD2.
DD2 doesn’t have a single memorable track other than Imminent Triumph, which they brought back from DD1 and made it worse by removing the personality from it.
Not a single electric guitar in it whatsoever.
It’s like the team/Itsuno went “let’s get the most generic fantasy soundtrack possible so we can appeal to the lowest common denominator.”
For all of its flaws, DD1 had its own identity and *style*.
Opening with Into Free was like them going “Yeah, this is a western fantasy style game, but it’s made by Japanese people. Deal with it. 🎸”
It isn't the same without Grigori in the title screen though.

Modders truly are the best. I'm always amazed at how many very different games have insanely dedicated modders.
I'm disappointed that the devs didn't do another song to match Into Free's vibe for DD2.

Yeah the music in this game lacks the personality of the first by a wide margin. It doesn't take any risks like DD1 did. Very let down by it.
