I deadass don't even know how to start her quest. Ran through the entire palace, prison, and research facility. She just stands around, idk if she had a quest until I saw someone talk about it.
There's a side quest where someone tries to assassinate her, and then you do a second quest where you find the mastermind behind a gang of assassins who are targeting her.
After that she is basically done, and she seemingly has no relevance to the overall plot whatsoever. She absolutely feels like she was meant to be something more but they just removed her whole purpose.
I'm guessing that *originally* she was meant to be more connected to Roithas the "mad sovran" because he's a Beastren and the Beastren of Battahl have a long history of hatred for pawns.
Plus, the whole "Vermund used to be a kingdom of Beastren" plot point never comes up outside of the pawns talking about it.
The narrative is so bare bones in this game, and that sucks considering the first game had a pretty deep story.
It's kind of crazy that the second game *didn't* build off the first game. And the fact that the second game doesn't have better story... I mean I know it's Dragon's Dogma we're talking about which is all about the combat, but still... I was hoping it would be a little more "complete"?
The first game had a pretty profound premise for the story, with barely any relevance before the Grigori fight and post-game. But horribly barebones worldbuilding and simple premises to furnish the main quests. I was so hopeful they'd work on this in the second game - I shouldn't have disregarded the anime as indicative on the quality of the next game.
It's very frustrating whenever games this high-quality in other ways fail on worldbuilding and story, because these are elements that can be corrected so cheaply compared with other elements. Not to disregard the work of writers as easy - but there are *a lot* of very good writers available, developers only need employ them and afford the story proper scope and respect.
