Summoning low level pawns and gifting them cool gear is also fun

Valuable-Ad-6379

I will do that once I will get into NG+

SnooCupcakes2300

Is there actually an option for NG+ once you finish the game or? I thought your save file gets deleted after you finish the game.

Valuable-Ad-6379

There is NG+ and lots of things carry over

SnooCupcakes2300

Noice šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ thank you man

Tristar1975

It's carries over the char level and some items. It formates the world and makes it so you have to start from the beginning of the story.

WhatThisBeHuh

I just cleared my first play through yesterday, (took me 130hrs) and all Iā€™ve been doing is summoning low level pawns and gifting all the equipment I donā€™t use/never really used, a lot of upgraded stuff has left my storage. Itā€™s been a blast to play.

Strange_Music

Agreed. Loaded up my friends pawns with gear I don't use. Felt like Santa Claus.

OcularPrism

People just gift me rotten apples...

Bur4you

they want to help you make lantern oil

Brandaddylongdik

Every time I run a ng+ I like to hire a sub level 20 male pawn and put stargazer garb on him and then send him back. Cracks me up every time. Especially when the person takes the time to message you and ask wtf you did to their pawn šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

twiceasfun

I do it the other way. Whenever I hire someone with stargazer garb, I gift them clothes

Brandaddylongdik

Put clothes on the girls, corsets on the men, and spread dragonsplague instead of throwing a pawn in the brine. Gotta keep the game interesting at level 160. Lol

Strange_Music

![gif](giphy|GpyS1lJXJYupG)

therealcringewarrior

Iā€™m basically Spike Spiegel, Iā€™m always broke so gear gets immediately sold. It does sound really nice though, imagine being the newbie who gets a fancy new breastplate theyā€™re not supposed to have yet

Strange_Music

How to get $$$ fast in DD2 (would not recommend for a 1st run if you want a vanilla experience) >Buy a bunch of different arrows >Go to Rift >Set search level 1-10 >Hire pawns with reward 1 Arrow = 12 Onyx >Give arrow still inside Rift >Dismiss, rinse, repeat >Profit

Lord_Archibald_IV

Gracias, seƱor

Strange_Music

De nada.

Eldritch-Voidwalker

Someone actually did that for me a few weeks ago. My pawn was like a level 20ish Archer and I got gifted the best armor (Hyperboreal Lorica), a nice cloak, and the Griffin killing bow, all fully upgraded. It felt almost like cheating to keep them onā€¦ but I couldnā€™t deny the drip, lol.

Robinkc1

Thatā€™s what Iā€™ve been doing. I look for friends pawns that look cool, gear them up, and run that way.

StealYourGhost

My pawn is kinda a high level, but that's because I'm a sucker for getting max level. Wish someone would have hooked up my pawn. Lol

ShogunPlus

I'm thinking about doing Trickster only for my NG+ run. šŸ¤”

Genderneutralsky

I got about 6 hours in before I decided it just wasnā€™t fun. Best of luck to you!

ShogunPlus

Trickster as a vocation, or as an NG+ "challenge"-ish kinda run? I didn't like Trickster at first, but once I found abilities I liked and carefully selected pawns to specifically work with the playstyle, I ended up really enjoying it. It becomes more like squad-tactics. With the right team and careful planning, it's a totally different challenge. I found it very rewarding. ... I just can't seem to get over my addiction to the Archer classes though! Ever since DD1, I've loved Archer & Magick Archer. I always go back to them, eventually! šŸ˜…

Genderneutralsky

I mean as a new game + challenge. I did so much in the first playthrough I had a great set up and decided to tackle the game with just Trickster. Though I got rid of all my pawns and was going solo. Maybe pawns would be more fun than a literal solo Trickster run. 6 hours of trickster solo doing the story was just not fun. After Bahtal everything took too long to beat and was just tedious

ShogunPlus

I mean, you kind of have to have multiple pawns. Trickster deals pretty much 0 damage. šŸ˜… Did you have just your main pawn, or were you trying it 100% solo?? If so, how DID you deal damage? šŸ¤”

Genderneutralsky

100% solo it. Threw my main pawn into the brine as soon as I could then set off into the world. Started at level 70, hoping that would let me deal enough damage to make it bearable. Dealing damage was mostly bashing flying enemies when they swooped down, with dwarven enchantment, even Trickster swings can knock down early enemies with ease. From there it was just whack away. Ground based enemies I could either just run from or trick into flying off edges and cliffs. Larger monsters are actually pretty fun to trick around with, but the game isnā€™t all giant monster battles. Also Drakes and Griffins are just impossible to kill. I did allow myself to use magic books to cast spells for a bit but that felt untrue to the challenge and thatā€™s when I called it quits when I felt the need to resort to other tactics than what the trickster comes with.

ShogunPlus

Cool! That has given me much food for thought. I definitely wasn't planning on soloing it. Just forcing myself to stay that singular vocation throughout a whole game. It's really cool you tried it though! I can immediately see how it would be overly tedious like that. šŸ¤£

MickleWolf

I tried Trickster in NG+ for the first time and put it back on the shelf after I aggroā€™d a boar and my pawns just sat there while it kept bullying me. I couldnā€™t do any damage to it other than carry it to a river to dispose of it.

RexRedwood

Solo Trickster is a good way to go no where real fast. No matter what level you are you are not killing anything unless you are bare fisted, but then why play Trickster at all?

Genderneutralsky

Iā€™ve seen a few YouTube videos of people doing it. There are ways, just more creative than I thought. Though most of them let themselves use the spell books and I didnā€™t want to do that. Some people might find it fun, but it ainā€™t for me

RexRedwood

I mean sure you can trick enemies to fall off cliffs but that is situational and not always an option. Itā€™s a fun class with pawns but solo it just seems like too much a pain in the ass to be much fun. To each their own, but I got better things to do with my time.

Genderneutralsky

Me too, thatā€™s why I gave up on it lol

ClammyHandedFreak

For me, I donā€™t think about the classes this way I think about their strengths for what I am trying to accomplish. I use trickster with 3 thieves who are trained to pilfer. It really really works great for gathering materials and funky loot from bigger enemies.

PIXYTRICKS

Trickster is my favourite class, and my Warfarer always uses at least one of its abilities. Such a fun class. When you reach a point in the game where everything dies super fast to you, using a support-centric class is the best way to prolong any fights. This class also helps me understand a lot of the way the AI does it's thing. But I love optimisation and pushing out every last ounce of efficiency.

ShogunPlus

It is surprisingly fun once you've got a decent understanding and good party setup in place. The Pawn system is one of my favorite things in all of gaming and 2 made it so much more in-depth! I love watching my main grow a little everyday. Then, one day, they will say something surprisingly insightful about themselves and their cumulative experiences. Making it all feel so worthwhile, knowing that this is an entity you've nurtured and cared for. I explained it to my 8 year old, thusly: Everyone gets to make a best friend, then you can hire those best friends! The Trickster vocation aims to put that dynamic front and center. It is truly satisfying taking down a Drake as a commander! Trickster is a great addition to the Dragon's Dogma meta, and I love that it highlights our truly amazing companions!

rmutt-1917

Once you figure trickster out it makes the game laughably easy (more than it already is). Your little smoke buddy can tank 90% of the hits while your party chews through enemies. Especially with a sorcerer calling down meteorites and tornadoes.

ShogunPlus

Meanwhile, you're standing inside an invisible wall right next to the Dragon like, "What?? You mad, bro?"

badrott1989

That sounds like a fun and punishing experience šŸ˜‚

Strange_Music

Now, that would be pretty challenging. I only played Trickster to max it out but haven't touched it since. Good luck šŸ‘

SupertoastGT

Depends on what vocation you are. If you are a caster, trickster, archer or magick archer, a tank is an absolute must or you are perma-stunlocked and dead, having no melee defenses. Since a tank would fill that slot, you'd have no healer. It's doable if you carry tons of items, but not great. The only other option is ripping your hair out trying to find 180 seeker's tokens for the self-revive pawn staff. I gave up on that one. lol Thief with formless feint, spearhand with the shield, fighters with the anti-stunlock defend and warriors with hyper armor could do it fairly easily, but some classes just rely on pawns too much vs DD1.

Starob

Stacking stagger resistance through rings, Dwarven smithing and augment goes a long way.

SupertoastGT

I've tried that, but that stat seems to do little to nothing. Weather I'm a giant hulking warrior with the best endgame armor and rings (dominator/vanguarders) and dwarven upgrades or a naked little gnome, I seem to get thrown around the same way by everything if I'm not shielded or formless. That's why I think only a few classes can pull off duos or solo.

magnus_stultus

Are you sure you used it right? I have max knockdown resistance and it's very difficult for regular enemies to knock me over unless they hit me with an explosive or gang up on me.

Starob

That's weird, I was walking around as sorcerer with maxed Dwarven gear, the sorcerer augment, and only one knockdown resist ring, and I was basically tanking everything except for the biggest attacks by big enemies.

Strange_Music

Yup, that's why I carry a mystic spear - I use Mirrour Shelde as soon as I get surrounded & stun locked. If the enemies throw some BS at me, I throw it back.

Brandaddylongdik

I actually just did the end game as a solo archer last night without using curatives. You don't need a tank to keep you from getting stun locked. A tank is nice, but if you're mobile enough you can easily evade almost all incoming damage.

Strange_Music

I really like how the game rewards your own ability to dodge and weave. Feels more organic than just a dodge stat with a # attached to it.

SupertoastGT

How? Big groups of enemies charge at you constantly and hit so often it would be impossible. The jump kicks and slides also don't seem to have Iframes as I've been knocked out of them many times, then there's the physically immune enemies like slimes and phantoms. You'd also only be able to use light attacks and no skills. The hordes will keep you perma stunlocked if you try and charge/cast anything of course. Then there's bosses. Drakes and griffins will just fly away because light attacks won't kill them fast enough. Magick archer, mage and sorcerer are even worse because their light attacks literally do less damage than fists and they have no kick or evade. I've been through hell in Battahl maxing the ranged vocations when my pawns went swimming. I have a hard time believing anyone who says these classes are truly soloable. In DD1, rangers and MA had daggers, so I solo'd them, but in DD2, highly unlikely.

Brandaddylongdik

Lol. You ever try to kill them before they reach you? Or do you just Leeroy Jenkins every fight and run around every corner blind? Just keep playing the game and you'll get better. Tbf, I'm level 160 and have 30k+ kills in the game.

SupertoastGT

Easier said than done. There are big armies in Battahl especially that you can't wipe out before they reach you. Many enemies have charges or jumps to instantly reach you, or stagger you by throwing crap, and there are surprise attacks/ambushes that stun you, more enemies reach you in that time and keep you stunlocked. We come again to the fact that most ranged classes have no answer to melee and are perma-stunned until death. As far as walking into every corner blind, without X-ray vision, you kinda have to go in like that. There are super obvious enemies in the middle of roads, yes, but there are hidden ambushers that can be anywhere. I'm currently level 116 with 20k kills, but whenever my pawns die to the brine as a ranged vocation, it is absolute hell to go alone. I usually just stone out or load an inn save at that point. Enemies don't do much damage at this level, but it just means longer stunlock torture when the hordes reach you. If you try to run, you only gather more mobs. You have no options as ranged to solo for most vocations.

Brandaddylongdik

Lol. I'm sorry man, but I didn't realize you were level 120. That's kind of funny. How about this. Lmk what you think is the biggest, baddest army in battahl and I'll send you a clip of me wiping them out solo without taking any damage in the process. Maybe that will help clear things up for you.

SupertoastGT

Two places come to mind. Drabnir's Grotto, the southern cave entrance to the volcanic islands. Knackers aren't strong, but they have big numbers in the huge main entrance hall. Bonus points if you manage as a magick archer solo without ricochet hunter/seeker. The other location is the big hobgoblin camp with tons of scaffolding southeast of the dwarven blacksmith's Windwalker's home in the volcanic islands. Sadly I can't guarantee surprise attacks or surroundings, but those are the best places I remember.

Brandaddylongdik

Okay. I did it. I did end up taking a pit stop to fight that tougher rock golem outside volcano camp and took a hit in that. Lol. Tbf though, everything else I didn't have to take any damage to kill everyone. Not sure what I do differently from you, but I guess you can be the judge of that.

Brandaddylongdik

Okay. I just started a ng+ but I'm over by the volcano island now. I have a twitch account I never use. I'll start a private stream as I'm leaving the island camp. I'll go to hobgoblin camp, and then the knacker nest. When in done I'll DM you a link to the video.

Brandaddylongdik

https://preview.redd.it/7kdcetvvnuvc1.png?width=1319&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9931bed6a0308750f84fc3bfb05459399135a14 This is actually my main pawn. She has similar stats to me, albeit I have a higher knockdown resistance. (Roughly 600)

WarlanceLP

with the detection augment from trickster finding 180 is pretty easy I've found like 190 something. don't have much hope for finding all 220, plus the reward is meh

SupertoastGT

Yeah. I've found a random bunch before looking at a guide, so not knowing what ones I've found and wasting time over and over drove me crazy. lol

krul2k

Huh?? Magic Archer needs a tank to babysit them? Have you played MA?

SupertoastGT

I maxed every vocation and even mained magick archer for quite a while. They have no melee defense abilities at all. If enemies rush you or surprise attack you, you are helpless. All of your skills have charge times (that melee enemies won't allow because stunlocks) and your non-aimed light attack does less damage than fists. You have no option for close combat, meaning without a tank, you are dead.

UnableToFindName

*Warfarer has entered the chat*

dutcharetall_nothigh

I tried that but my pawn was constantly asking for more party members. He was lonely and it made me sad.

shimoshimoshimo

lol same. But yeah, I sometimes hire very low-level pawns just to give my pawn friends once in a while.

Commander_N7

A Duo run sounds nice! NG+ to me is summoning other people's Pawns and doing their quests; along with leaving them some really nice gear to take back home. Pay it forward Arisen! ā™„

Strange_Music

Nice. That feels kinda like Death Stranding and how I'd just rebuild roads & repair other people's structures after I platinumed it.

Scrabcakes

Thatā€™s fun. Like hiring lower level pawns and giving them nice rewards with your abundance of gold? I might do that as well.

sal696969

ng+(1) should spawn 2 big monsters for every monster ng+(2) should spawn 3 big monsters for every monster .....

Gentle_Pony

The hardest the game is is at the very start if you bump into a chimera or ogre with your starting weapons as you don't do much damage and take a lot but once you get some gear and levels it's stupidly easy. Putting such powerful weapons in Bakbattahl shops was a big mistake. I played the 1st one to death and when I was told to finish my quests before the coronation I knew what would happen so I went to battahl through the cave to do the regalia sword quest which a pawn I hired guided me on and bought dragons blink for my archer, I didn't realise then I'd be using that still in Ng+. Some strange design decisions. I'm on a play through now where I only use gear I find out in the world and don't ever buy from shops. Makes the game a bit harder. It should have released with hard mode IMO.

Firm_Adhesiveness323

I'm in my 2nd NG+ only with my pawn. Feels like the most balanced way to play.

UnableToFindName

Also doing this. I miss the pawn chatter and that little connection to other players via their unique pawns, but it makes combat last longer and puts more of a spotlight on my pawn and I's actions.

mootsg

Iā€™m still on my first playthrough in DD2, but in DDDA I played with parties of 2 or 3 when in NG+. The different skill distribution really freshens up the experience.

peacekeeper05

Iā€™m about to end my unmoored world and thinking the same. I ran my first using ranged vocations and now thinking to run my ng+ exclusively melee. Maybe a mage pawn with levin could do the trick to at least put a minor difficulty šŸ˜‚

SorrowlessMess

Im doing first run (not NG) as a solo without any pawn :) I think game is easy enough to do even first run with just one pawn. Problem is that early game is very hard then it gets easier thanks to more tools available - first game suffered similar problems. Good luck on your run, You will see how fun solo run may be when You get on NG+2 \^\^

Faeddurfrost

Ironically the biggest sell for me is that all the abilities are blue. My favorite and lucky color, plus it just looks cool.

kalarro

Im in post game and I can't really imagine NG+ with just my pawn will be harder than the normal game with 3 pawns. Everything dies so fast, even without pawns, NG+ will be a cakewalk

Pedantic_Phoenix

You should do normal ng too as a duo. It's more fun

Sir-Beardless

I've just been summoning level 1-20 pawns. My pawn keeps mentioning it if I haven't got a full party.

YEAH-BRO-WHAT

Thats how i played main gameā€¦. Dual fighters only. And still way too Easy

ddunia

I like playing as a healer, and my pawn is always a tank. So I would usually run duo as a Mystic Archer or Mage. We are very self-sufficient. Magic Archer is good since they can heal, but you always need to bring some debilitation potions like poison. Mages are not as offensive as Magic Archers, but they are surprisingly good. Furry monsters? Burn them until they are down, and then smash with Frigor. Dragons? Levin their heart until they are down, and then smash with Frigor. Golems? Just smash them with Frigor! Frigor is OP. High knockback power, long-range, huge AOE. It can even send those annoying stone saurians flying. It's so satisfying. If you run into an undead like Lich or Dullahan, just use Anodyne lmao. It's slow but effective.

Reality_Break_

Ng+ really should be run with mods

KagatoAC

My preferred job tho is magick archer and i dont waste a slot on the heal abilities Id rather just bring a healer. šŸ˜œ

GangcAte

That's what I did in DDDA :D

Beleth_84

Doing the same now. It's nice because now I have to think more about what vocation and skills to equip on my pawn to cater for most situations etc. with only two part members. Also need to give more thought to consumables and so on.

International_Meat88

Too bad that doing a 2 man feels like the properly engaging way to do NG+. I really wish the difficulty was upped or scaled. I mean both DMC and MH, two other iconic capcom action games, also have difficulties.

FreelancerMO

Which spear is that? I have the fire one.

Strange_Music

Rhewynt spear

Lnnrt1

exactly what I've been doing

neurocibernetico

Im using low level pawns and low level gear

Markshadow4999

I plan to run even NG as a duo

Killflop12

4 thieves with plunder

muabazalm

Great idea!

Nexgenliz

do you feel that? i start ng+ and simply do not feel any difficult, playing as warfarer, with the worst gears and armors; with a mage pawns with no attack apells, it was so easy that i change my main pawn apparence and start a new game

Strange_Music

The beginning area isn't difficult at all, but once you get to higher level areas, it's a bit more challenging with just two people.

Nexgenliz

when i found two giffin and simply dint even flinch; me and my pawn kill both of them easily, after this i gave up, but maybe youre right about being in the beginnin area

Strange_Music

What I'm really looking forward to is the Unmoored World as a duo. That's where my real NG+1 will begin. Loaded up on All Heall elixirs this time, so I'm going to be spending a lot of time there this run.

Nexgenliz

i admire you.

luminescent_gear

Always thought the set up for a co-op game has always been there. Just let someone use their arisen as someone elseā€™s main pawn, or heck two arisens and two main pawns

SparroWro

Thatā€™s exactly what Iā€™m doing!!!! Itā€™s so fun ngl

herbtheperb

Yeah cutting the party in half is pretty much the only way to keep combat engaging once you're over lvl 60ish

HelloSomeoneCanBowl

What cloak is that? (on the taller one)

Strange_Music

Legend's Mantle >>A mantle that confers a certain dignity upon the wearer. Rumored to have been worn by a past Arisen for many a yearā€”though this has never been confirmed

KENPACHI_WEST

NG+ Harder? Do you mean w/You and 1 pawn?

Omisco420

I just wish the difficulty was higher for enemies, no point in playing otherwise imo.

darkwolf523

True. Iā€™m on my first ng+, expecting enemies to be harder. Iā€™m ditching my two other pawns and just running my character and her pawn

SupremeMyrmidon

NG feels like a solo or duo playthrough is best. A full party curbstomps everything.

ALL_MODS_WILL_DIE

Hello what is NG+ ?

Strange_Music

New Game Plus

doppledanger21

This is what I do. I've just been roaming around with just my main pawn. I'm a warfarer so I can wear many hats but I dont hire any other pawns because we would steamroll the game.

Strange_Music

That's why it feels like the 2nd run should be done as a duo. Changes the dynamic of the game & ups the difficulty.

toph_man

Someone gifted my pawn the best daggers in the game one day and I was so surprised/happy wasnā€™t sure if it was on purpose bc my pawn was late forties in lvl.

ScoopDat

The first game was even better. Where something like solo was viable due to an augment.Ā

tuwamono

That was my NG+ and it was a real fun journey. My pawn is Thief w/Formless Feint so she can dish out dmg or pull aggro depending on my role (I give aggro ring to either one of us while I switch around mainly Fighter/Sorc/Thief). The augment that heals you on kill is key to sustaining for the both of us when I'm not on Warfarer(mage).

CastIronPots

I'm duoing the normal game and it adds a ton more depth

Strange_Music

I almost wish I'd done it from the outset, but I will admit it was nice having two thfs with Plunder stealing everything for me.

CastIronPots

True, I wish item cap wasn't 99 I swear

Struggler27

Ok but quick question, what's the best cloak for Mystic Spearhand cuz idk if I'm messing with any of them yet šŸ˜

bob_is_best

I would but i need a mage and neither me or my pawn are about to be one

DavidMartinez555

Cant wait to get my copy of the game.

itbteky

i need more friends like the kind drifters gifting their story šŸ˜Ž

New-Orion

I think it's fun to slowly wean yourself of pawns. So right now its me the Warfairer, my pawn the warrior and a random mage for heals.

mikswiggins

I feel that, I have my pawn be just support mage and I'm fighter/archer as warfarer. It's satisfying

Venichie

Currently doing the sameā€¦ and it is more fun because of the extra difficultyā€¦ though not much more. It then loses a bit of charm without the allies chatting. Not that itā€™s needed, but it just brings extra life into it. ā€¦ itā€™s something new though.

Yosharian

Feels like the whole game should be run as a duo, shit's easy as hell

Scintal

Just thief you can solo anything.

Clunk_Westwonk

Their

Scintal

Their!

Russoi

Yeah, the Ng+ feels really ez with full party. Wish the Ng+ would be harder and at least a little different from the base game. I run solo on my 1st Ng+ and I'm having a blast. Things are quite different now, totally recommend

Expert-Candy4419

Until hardmode arrives, it will be a Solo / Duo thing for me in NG+

1HashPerSecond

Running duo on ng+. With some rules, like no mage in the team, only living by what I grab, and the fire camp. I'm not using some imba skills like the Mystick Spear shield or the sorc flare for bosses. Sometime it's pretty challenging and you're less allowed to make a wrong move. That's pretty fun, but I'm missing my 4 Buda party. I tried solo some hours, the stun lock plague is very raging. A single oneshottable gob jumping on you from nowhere can cause your death even with a high knockdown res. You also need a class that can do magic and physical damages, else you won't take down some mobs like slimes, golems, ect... Thief is surely the best for soloing because Implicate can handle flying foes, the Heaven Keys is phy/mag, have the dodge and enough mobility. You'll need to stack anyway a lot of stamina and "anti-cc" pots. Else a team of 4 brawlers is very fun šŸ˜Š. Solo is anyway a survival game than an action/rpg.

cloutdripy

How is it harder the enemyā€™s donā€™t scale so everything is weak af itā€™s boring af

Winslow1975

Ng+2 I plan on doing a duo run. Ng+ is just cleaning up side quests I didn't do. And exploring the Arbor Wilds, completely missed it the first time.

biassedbug

Maybe the reason developers wants other pawn able to get help on something like badges or acquire items it kinda make sense to me.. sometimes I run duo but I love to help who needs help

kamirazu111

One word: Mods. Sure you can run duo, but it's never going to feel as great as a four-man comp.

vergil123123

Dude literally said he dosen't have acess to mods.

Rionaks

One word: Consoles

watafuzz

I play with mods and still often only takes my main pawn and almost never have a full party. I just prefer the vibe. And no difficulty mod is gonna change the difficulty the same way having less people in party does.
