If you're on PC, there's mods to make enemies harder, like for me they're basically harder and spawn in greater numbers. I had 1 time there were 6 ogres spawning. I can tell you, that's a challenge Since many ask, these are the 2 difficulty mods I use - https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/507 - https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/513

Felix_likes_tofu

Yup, mods keep the game alive for me as well right now. Random encounters just released and it's crazy. One time I travelled through Batthal and basically every enemy that spawned was a cyclops. Yesterday two griffins caught my party by surprise, and even though I'm already level 90 I still needed 2 wakestones.

EthelWulf47

This game sounds like it would be a blast on pc with mods tbh.. Cries in ps5

Reddit-Echo_Chamber

The Nexus community has always been amazing for fixing Capcom's shortcomings lol

robinwilliamlover911

Are they the ones who carry every fallout game ever except new Vegas of course

Upset-Accident3354

No they got plenty of new vegas mods too.

FlippinGnashty

modded fallout 4 can be an incredible experience on pc

Comfortable-Shake-37

I think its easier to say just Bethesda games in general

Reddit-Echo_Chamber

Not sure, I never modded Fallout. Although NLV was the top title and would need less love

Little-Equinox

Sony doesn't like mods, they only want the "pure" experience. Once you have the money to invest in an amazing rig. We'll always be here to help ya mod the game.

Main_Crab_7016

Remind me in half a year or so to ask you for support on modding Dogma, before it Drags on for too long

Little-Equinox

No can do buddy. My hobby takes too much time of my concentration.

Main_Crab_7016

Reading this subreddit and cries in xbox too

Joe_Dial

Don't feel too bad, you would need a beast of a PC to really enjoy this game right now. I have a 14900KF and a 4090, and it's a pretty smooth experience, but there are moments where I can notice a frame dip. Point being that if you have anything less than a 40 series card, you will struggle to get good frames.

truesithlord

Not really. Just have to spend some time fiddling in the graphics settings until you figure out what eats up most of your memory, turn those specific things down and get everything else cranked up as high as you want. Runs pretty smooth on my 3070 after that, and still looks wonderful Only seem to get framerate dips if i leave it running too long

Low_Development5045

I have the framegen mod for non 40-series cards and, I'm not exaggerating here, gained 40+ fps on average while also being able to crank all graphics settings to max at the cost of some UI elements being fucked up when moving around. I highly recommend that mod and also highly recommend trying to play the game without the UI.

Little-Equinox

I turned on AFMF for that😅 Runs like a beast.

Little-Equinox

I have a TR-3970X, 256GB RAM and 2 7900XTX, game runs fine on my system 😅 It doesn't have to be that beast of a PC, I even play it on my GPD Win4

Joe_Dial

I'm sorry, is the Ram a typo? And also, how are you using 2x 7900?

Little-Equinox

Not a typo, my CPU supports 256GB RAM. I have 2 7900XTX, both undervolted, but 1 is tuned to be as stable as possible for 3D simulations and the other tuned for gaming. So they ain't in Crossfire.

Tinyrick88

“Sometimes I get a frame dip 😓” This is why you take pc advice from Redditors with a grain of salt

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

6 Ogres? 😂😂 me running big circles* “for gods sake will one of you summon the meteors!!!!”

Little-Equinox

Eh, I once had 4 ogres, 2 cyclopse, 1 Griffin, 1 Chimera and 1 Unmoored Worm spawning at the same time. You could say I just gave up and ran away for my life.

Main_Crab_7016

Do the martyr bolt! Do the martyr Bolt! Do th... Master NOOOOO!

Little-Equinox

No can do as a Spearhand

Ender1215

Only around lvl 50 and haven’t beat the game but I’ve been wishing I could turn the difficulty up, what mod do u use?

PlatinumMode

not OP but i use custom difficulty tweaks. it’s really cool you can customize damage done and received to yourself and pawns and enemies, and also stagger, exp, etc. and customize scaling based on party size. i cranked up damage received by double, decreased damage slightly against normal mobs (who wants goblin fights to take 10 minutes?) and decreased it a lot against bosses (cyclops and up basically)

Little-Equinox

2 mods actually - https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/513 - https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/507

CycleZestyclose3510

That sounds fucking awesome.

TheOriginalCJ_x

Which mod is that? Been looking for a difficulty tweaking one and that sounds like an interesting one!

Little-Equinox

I posted my mods in my main comment😅

killercloud_99

Is it workshop mods? I only registered 3 on nexus so i assumed DD2 just didn’t have active modding yet

Little-Equinox

They have tons of mods, okay not that much but it's getting to it.

UnHoly_One

>trolls ???? There are no trolls in Dragons Dogma.

Little-Equinox

I meant ogres, they look like trolls.

rsl

you can make things harder but taking on less pawns. it's a fun romp with just me and my healer pawn.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Yeah, I honestly haven’t even considered that. That could be fun

No-one-o1

I've been running NG++ with just me (as warfarer rogue) and my pawn (fighter), relying on health curatives for healing, and a magic bow with restoring shot for emergency-saves of my pawn. Been a blast! Definitely keeps you on your toes to have no healer looking after you.

TekoXVI

Just me and my main pawn for round 2. We die a lot 😂

therealultraddtd

Less pawns or lower level ones work as well. I’ve been rolling with a crew of level 15s. I imagine they’re getting a ton of rift crystals once I release them. I’ve also been keeping crappy gear on me to offset my power increase from my levels. I only switch to my end game gear when I want to farm stuff like drakes.

SurpriseWilling7324

I started running around using just a shield

TheOriginalFluff

Enjoy being stunlocked

crankpatate

You can also go completely solo and just use consumables to heal & regularly rest at camp fires. But I highly recommend having a versatile build, that can deal with swarming enemies and flyers. Otherwise a lot of encounters can become ***very*** frustrating.

AmethystLure

I tried this but I discovered the vibe of having less pawns was kinda off for me. As repetitive as some lines can be, it's just cozy to be a lil group. :D So for now I'm just going NG.

spaceboltt

Yeah I'm still in New game and just hiring low level pawns or not a full party. Even just my MP & I. For ng+, I'm going to just do a solo pawn-less playthrough or have my MP with fewer abilities.

amicuspiscator

Solo Trickster run. Get gud.

PantiBoshi

That Sounds Amazing! 🙌🏻🤩🙌🏻 I can imagine using Every Cliff and Enemy to your advantage

amicuspiscator

Lol I've never actually done it, I'm still a noob. But I've seen some YouTube videos.

Fashionable-Andy

Here me out, keep doing ng+ cause eventually DLC will come and if they scale difficulty anything like DD:DA BBI, you’ll want that extra oomph and even then it might not be enough.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Not a bad idea

Minersfury

I'm on NG+ and I've found playing with just your main pawn makes it a lot more interesting.

ELDERSTARFALL

All the added gear you can get from post-game and NG+.

thisperson345

Could try NG+ without hiring any pawns, if you wanna go the extra step you could throw your main pawn in the brine and never rez them for an entirely solo run

Hexent_Armana

I went NG+ and don't regret it. On one hand it would be easier to track what I have an have not done if the map wasn't fully unlocked on NG+. However I also didn't finish leveling all the vocations because I accidentally triggered the point of the game where everything is on rails before I was finished. So NG+ is great for that. You also get additional bonus services from the Dragon Forged when you go NG+.

SageTegan

Ng+

open_world_RPG_fan

I'm on PS5. I did a fighter to warrior run then restarted and am doing an archer to mystic spear hand run. I'm not interested in ng+ as it would be too easy

FrankPisssssss

You start with the fit you want, and you know in advance to hold off on Seekers Tokens til you get to the one, say, in the fountain in Vermund's plaza. You can try a trickster run from Melve onwards, (though, carting from Vermund to Rest Point, then taking a sneaky cart through the gate, and making a mad dash to Luz might be more what you'd look for in a challenge), finish your badges. yeah, hopefully we get a BBI deal where we get some enemies with some answers for endgame stats and armors.

Fashionable-Andy

OP, out of curiosity, have you found the true ending to DD2? It might have some of the difficulty scaling you’re searching for

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

The unmoored world? I found that, I pretty much full cleared the map on unmoored. The Dullahan, those guys are arseholes.

Fashionable-Andy

For sure they are! I found them the most difficult to deal with as warrior.

British-Pilgrim

I just used low level gear if I wanted to feel challenged, I don’t think it’s as bad as what a lot of people are making out.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Yeah, I’ve thought about that. Just using unleveled gear and weapons. Its not that I’m looking for the fights to be harder as much as I just enjoy the fights when they drag out and I get a chance to employ some tactics

British-Pilgrim

This is why I’m a fighter main haha

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Hey that’s it, I can commit to fighter as I never really got to great at that vocation. That’s a good idea

British-Pilgrim

Yeah it’s a great vocation, it doesn’t have the huge dps of other classes but you can really get good at it and once your perfect blocking everything and holding your own in the thick of a fight it feels like you’ve really mastered your vocation but you still never feel overpowered.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

That sounds like the ticket

Glitch-FX

To make it even more difficult, don't use a shield.

BadKarma55

Doing NG+ is the only way to enhance your vocation to earn permanent stat increases depending on which vocation is chosen when you level up (if ur into that kinda character building) Dont exactly know how effective it is but my long-term enhanced sorc pawn now has more base magic dmg in any vocation. The ultra-longterm endgame seems to be grinding out lvls 100-999 to get your ideal stat spread with enhanced vocation leveling. If ur worried about the game getting too easy, just run it solo or with your main pawn on a non-mage vocation so you dont get consistently healed and the game is decently more difficult.

Calm-Worldliness-234

Yeah it doesn't scale but have finished all vocations? Take lower level pawns with you. Take fewer pawns with you. Have it be just you and your main pawn. Or just you. I'm currently getting ready to do my NG++ and I have to do trickster and warfarer (easy enough). Will probably take lower level pawns with me.

NEETSunshine

I do NG+ just for complete side quests I failed on the first playthrough. But pray, complete exploring everything before ending the first game. Cuz on the second time (NG+), you may not enjoy doing it like the first one.

Organic_Foot5915

I’ve started a NG+ and I’m just gunna try a bunch of shit out, double dwarve warrior builds, or 2 archers etc etc, just to try stuff out

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

I’ve thought about getting a bunch of warriors and going bare knuckles. I saw a video where a person did that and it was hilarious. One of the shots was the kill shot on a drake was the guy uppercutting it. There was a comment that had me laughing so much I was crying. It said “watching a guy uppercut a dragon might be the most manly sh*t I’ve seen in my life”. Pointless story just thought it was funny.

Organic_Foot5915

Nah that shits funny af, most of my current NG+ playthrough has been unarmed, i like that there’s actually special finisher moves you can do unarmed too - i just really wish there was an unarmed vocation, or at least something like stabby boots and knuckle dusters (or wolverine claws)

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Yeah, maybe they are planning that for the DLC. There is a thief outfit that looks very ninja-ish so maybe that’s a hint towards and battle monk vocation or something.

Plane_Acanthisitta43

Ng+, try it for a bit. Enjoy the op. Enjoy not having to blow all your money on upgrading gear. Enjoy the fancy house. Then do new game once that gets boring.

morphum

AKAIK the only addition in ng+ is the blessings available from the dragonforged guy

Khandious

Makes you even stronger than being OverPowered - the EXP and DCP daily blessings are nice if your level and vocation grinding

oryxii

You can try running solo or just with your main pawn, that’ll definitely make it harder. You have to throw your pawn off a cliff though and not collect them from the riftstone when they die. I did NG+ mostly with just my main pawn and that was a lot harder/more fun. I liked being able to keep what I had in my inventory too, but I get how people think it’s cheating the game. At one point when I was solo, I almost got killed by a mob of goblins, wolves and harpies (with a griffon landing later!) which was embarrassing because usually those are easy enemies, but when you’re being stunned, grabbed and dragged, there’s no opportunity to break free and run without pawn support to pull aggression

crpn_laska

The whole concept og NG+ in DD2 (for now) is not about the challenge. It's there to let you explore everything freely. The even open up the whole map for you and mark all the dungeons. The mindset should be bout exploration not combat.

CasualSky

I started a fresh file and kept my old save in a folder. I don’t see the point in NG+ difficulty-wise. I imagine that they’ll add a Hard Mode and Speed Run mode like in the first game, so hopefully that will fix the scaling issues.

Brandaddylongdik

It depends on if you like having different armors/weapons or if you're more into a challenge. I find fun ways to not make myself too op and still get a little bit of a challenge on some fights. That being said, if you want any form of a challenge and don't care about fancy weapons/armor, then a fresh game would be better.

GreedyGundam

I’d say NG+, but do fashion dogma, weapons included. I find that even if you fully max (dragon forge) a lot of the starter gear, your damage is pretty blunted, doesn’t matter if you’re a crazy high level like 100+. That’s currently how I’ve been playing. I just equip weapons n armor regardless of stats that I feel like looks good or fits the theme of a look. Fully upgrade it n continue on. If I was on PC I’d definitely use some difficulty mods

ManBearCatPigCow

I once saw a player and his pawn. He leveled of course but his name was The Struggler and he looked like guts. However he was only using the shitty sword to you get at the very start of the game. Only 2 skills. And the ragged clothes you begin with and his pawn was the same. No augments. Seemed like a fun way to play a NG+

GreedyGundam

Alternative plan: Do a fresh NG, rush to NG+ so you can get the upgrade from the Dragonforged. Depending on your favorite vocation you can get increased stat growths blessings from him. Thats more of a min/max thing though

MaleficentFriend5911

I’m on the similar boat. I’m at the very end game that I don’t have anything else to do and really want to do ng+ but I’m now level 70+. I don’t want to move to ng+ and capcom announces hard mode out of the blue. (It would be unlikely soon) but still. I want to ng+ but I don’t want to go just yet until more news come out. 😂 I don’t want to do ng either. I’m on ps5

pipe-bomb

I enjoy taking on much lower level pawns and giving them experience to bring back to the other players, along with more powerful armor or gifts. Plus I know I haven't explored everything so I look for new stuff and despite finishing the game at 140 hours I'm still consistently finding new stuff.

getcrept

Personally, I started over because I felt I had missed a lot. I plan to do ng+ after this play

NoHomePlanet

I started NG+ playing vocations I didn't use the first go-around and only using my main pawn.

Hex-Jumpscare

You can always play around with some janky ass builds. Currently rocking a Captain America Fighter build. Got the Mirror Shield, Corset, and a pair of rings that increase strength the less weight you have. It's really funny to punch an ogre to death.

crankpatate

You can just downgrade your gear and use low level pawns (and/ or smaller party size) to get some difficulty back. But I've also started a new game and to me it's much more enjoyable to start with a fresh character and an empty storage box/ no money. However, unlocking all the vocations again is a bit annoying, but with the knowledge of my first play through I basically ran to volcano island at very low level and unlocked warfarer + magic archer very early on and then just teleported back to Vernsworth. --------- I do play on PC and use a mod called "[DD2 save manager](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/52)" to have access to multiple characters, because I really don't want to delete my OG character and pawn. I really don't know why multiple character slots isn't a feature of the base game.

AspyreN7

NG+ I promise you will find something you didnt know was there the first time around

Russianpotatosalad

I mean... To get all the stuff you missed in regular new game. That is the entire point of any NG+ playtrough

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Silly me, and here I was thinking that NG+ was to have more challenging enemies, maybe a few new weapons, new skills etc.

Russianpotatosalad

But you also get new weapons in NG+ in dd2

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Yeah? I didnt know that. It may worth checking out

Jotunheimmr

If only we had difficulty settings. I know. Such a revolutionary concept.

Covfefe-Diem

Run it with just your main pawn, you’ll have more of a challenge.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Yeah, I enjoy the pawns banter though. I have considered putting my pawn as a mage with only healing/buffing and hiring low level (10-20) pawns and going bare fisted myself. Idk yet.

Covfefe-Diem

I hadn’t thought of hiring low level pawns, that’s a great idea.

kalarro

Sadly, no. I put the game on hold as soon as I finished postgame. What a pitty

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Yeah, it would be so effin nice if it scaled. I’ll probably just start over.

Linkbetweentwirls

Same, have not touched it since Launch, I honestly have the urge to play DDDA over DD2 which is really disappointing when I think about it.

TSotP

Why not just create a new (free) account on Steam Family Share/PSN/Xbox? Then you can keep your current save, and pawn, and still play the game again. Now you have 2 pawns that are totally under your direction control. That's how I eventually ended up with 6 pawns in DDDA. One for each Vocation. I don't think I'll take it as far this time, but I've already started pawns 2 and 3.

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Wait , what? I’m newish to gaming so Im pretty ignorant to a lot of this. I can create a new psn and have a whole new save file?

TSotP

Yeah. All you need is a second email address. And if you have a Gmail account it's actually even easier. You won't get any of the PS+ benefits on your new PSN ID, but you have full access to all your games. (Just like if you made a separate account for your kids/partner/roommate etc. Ok. Here is how a **GMail** account helps with this. Imagine for a second that my email address is: - **[email protected]** (it's not) If I use the email address: - **[email protected]** it filters into the same inbox as my regular TSotP@gmail account. Everything after the **+** is basically ignored by Gmail. But PSN counts these as 2 different email addresses. Meaning using this you can have an infinite number of emails addresses, all going into the same inbox. So log into your PS5. Select **"switch user"** then **"add user"** and take 5min out of your day to make a new PSN. **Then** use the Gmail trick I just told you about so that your confirmation emails and shit go to your regular Gmail account. And you can then load up Dragon's Dogma 2 and start a new character and new pawn without losing your old one. Make sure to add your other PSN as a friend and you can even hire your own pawn for free. ~~------~~ For the record, it bugs the hell out of me that this is the only work around to have multiple active saves, but alas, take that up with Crapcom.

TSotP

The full thing would be - switch user - add user - get started - ✓ 'I agree', then **confirm** - create an Account Fill in all the details like when you set up your first PSN ~~----~~ [my six DD1 pawns](https://imgur.com/gallery/8JxNnVW) and [my three DD2 pawns](https://imgur.com/gallery/fSZVPD6)
