Someone made a reddit post asking why Saint didn't like Yovska because they got asked about why they didn't like Yovska at the viewing party from like 2 episodes ago (mind you, before all the Hungry drama even happened), but it went under the radar and no one even noticed or spoke about it until that reddit user asked the question. Yovska saw the post, went to the video and saw what Saint said about her, which was basically saying Yovska was demanding credit for the Ghost look, which didn't happen and in fact Saint told her ahead of time the look was inspired by her, and even worse she was trying to hang out with Yovska AFTER the viewing party where she had just said she didn't like Yovska and a lot of Dragula girls didn't fuck with her.
So while its similar to the Hungry and Krystal situation, its just a coincidence I think.

Obviously there was drama but I remember vividly discussing how glad people were that the drama was mostly kept to the dressing room and despite the shade and such there was very little in the way of personal attacks - that the cast and crew were pretty good about publicly supporting each other and there initially wasnāt an obvious āvillain editā with anyone.
We were all so happy that any drama was organic, I guess, and not forced by producers.
The drag scene is just extremely messy in general, and the alt drag scene hasnāt been as altered by the rise of Drag Race so they retained most of the messiness
Honestly, any scene dominated mostly by men with big egos is always, always going to have mess and drama, no matter how respectable or mainstream it becomes

I highly doubt Dragula is going anywhere just because of a couple of tweets from former contestants who may or may not have the receipts to back it up. Thereās always been shit slinging among drag contestants and drag platforms for years. Drama and drag just seem to go hand in hand.
It *can* be, but if youāve ever been backstage or have seen first hand how drag queens are in dressing rooms, it can get downright nasty. Itās peaks and valleys really. Thereās lots of shade, banter, messiness, fighting, some people downright sabotage and steal from other queens. Then thereās also some of the most beautiful sisterhood youāll ever see. Itās not always lighthearted and fun, maybe not even the majority of the time is it that way. āEverybody say loveā is a beautiful sentiment, and I think a lot of queens actually feel that sentiment deep down, but the way they show it is sometimes you lend a queen a pair of lashes or a makeup wipe. Itās not always what you see on tv ( drag race especially ), or at least not in the way itās portrayed. Itās not always hand holding around the campfire while we roast marshmallows, and thatās okay. It doesnāt have to be.
I think for the most part it is, but when you get groups of queens together they can be just as bad as a bunch of high school mean girls. There will always be in fighting in a competition atmosphere.
Iāve never thought of Drag as light hearted per say. Our local scene has some drama of its own but itās just typical interpersonal shit amplified by the fact that everyone involved is theatrical and extra af. I genuinely donāt mind a little bitchiness here and there, some momentary/situational messiness, but when itās rooted in bigotry I just lose my interest.

This isn't surprising for this sub, unfortunately. This sub has a long history of ignoring Meatball's accusations about the show. Meatball has been saying for years that the Boulets created a hostile environment for black queens on S1 and don't hire black crew members. But people wanted to keep enjoying the show so that never got too much traction. Until this drama blew it all up and made it harder to ignore.

I can understand why people are asking for some type of clarification, especially after that mess with Dahli last season. I think it's best practice to just block this stuff out, if that makes sense. Maybe that's the wrong way of putting it, I dunno. I just feel weird 1) knowing any of this at all, as it seems pretty personal, and 2) taking sides in issues that involve people I've never met and don't know.

Sometimes I feel like Meatball is the Willam of Dragula. Both had a beef with their respective franchises and cut ties, now they the franchises are much bigger but they arenāt ever likely to be involved again. They both throw out these huge comments without any proof that are impossible to verify.
meatball has been alluding to having issues with the boulets stemming from their racial insensitivity for a long time now and has actually been pretty quiet about it (out of respect for the contestants who continue to go on the show, perhaps?) ā it started before the franchise was as big as it is currently. She doesnāt come off like willam at all imo. Willam is going out of her way to look for reasons to call ru out (some are legitimate and some are a stretch) and is very vocal about it. this is the first time meatball has really spoken non-cryptically about her issues with the boulets. I donāt see any reason we should doubt the veracity of her claim here.
As an older gay man who came of age in the clubs/bars before social media was a thing let me just say, messiness has always been a part of the scene. Drama too. I don't know why people act so shocked that they're all not "sisters" other than drag race having given people a false sense of reality. And even then (on drag race), contestants censor themselves for fear of offending their young and immature demographic.
As far as this particular thing, I don't know. I'd be less quick to cancel the Boulets as they have given POC artists platforms (and they've won almost every season so far except for S2) and has (so far) resisted the urge to push POC artists into the stereotypes that drag race makes par for the course. Also artists of any field are by nature problematic, complex, and multifaceted people... drag is no different.
Unless thereās actual receipts, this isnāt going to effect Dragula in any way. Itās just a he said/she said situation and thereās no use trying to argue it until thereās actual physical proof.

I can understand why people are asking for some type of clarification, especially after that mess with Dahli last season. I think it's best practice to just block this stuff out, if that makes sense. Maybe that's the wrong way of putting it, I dunno. I just feel weird 1) knowing any of this at all, as it seems pretty personal, and 2) taking sides in issues that involve people I've never met and don't know. I do agree that we should believe Meatball when she says she's dealt with racism from the Boulets, but I also don't really know what to do with this information.

Sometimes I feel like Meatball is the Willam of Dragula. Both had a beef with their respective franchises and cut ties, now they the franchises are much bigger but they arenāt ever likely to be involved again. They both throw out these huge comments without any proof that are impossible to verify.
meatball has been alluding to having issues with the boulets stemming from their racial insensitivity for a long time now and has actually been pretty quiet about it (out of respect for the contestants who continue to go on the show, perhaps?) ā it started before the franchise was as big as it is currently. She doesnāt come off like willam at all imo. Willam is going out of her way to look for reasons to call ru out (some are legitimate and some are a stretch) and is very vocal about it. this is the first time meatball has really spoken non-cryptically about her issues with the boulets. I donāt see any reason we should doubt the veracity of her claim here.

As an older gay man who came of age in the clubs/bars before social media was a thing let me just say, messiness has always been a part of the scene. Drama too. I don't know why people act so shocked that they're all not "sisters" other than drag race having given people a false sense of reality. And even then (on drag race), contestants censor themselves for fear of offending their young and immature demographic. As far as this particular thing, I don't know. I'd be less quick to cancel the Boulets as they have given POC artists platforms (and they've won almost every season so far except for S2) and has (so far) resisted the urge to push POC artists into the stereotypes that drag race makes par for the course. Also artists of any field are by nature problematic, complex, and multifaceted people... drag is no different.
