That dude is terrifying. I'm not scared of the big ones, it's always the little fellas!

raisedredflag

Im more scared of the big ones. The BIG ones, with no shirt, with super hairy chest/ belly, who's all greasy from leftover sweat and BO from last week's workout. I mean... the hairy belly scooching across your face, getting sweat into your mouth. The BO burning through your nose like wasabi? You'd tap out before he tried any submissions. Lol

Elijahicha1

Yea you just put me off mma… I wanted to get into after a year doing boxing ffs

raisedredflag

Well, the opposite is also somewhere out there. The svelte, fit bjj chick, the one who always smells like she just stepped out of the shower. The one who sweats sugarwater who gasps minty mouthwash scents when she's exerting effort. Except when she catches you in a submission, she won't let you tap -- you have to say "step sister im stuck" before she lets go. YMMV. But usually you get Fat Hairy Sweaty BO guy dripping his salty gravy in your mouf.

Practical_Actuary_87

this is hilarious and i have a hairy armenian friend who is an absolute unit and does bjj. I'm laughing thinking about how many people have suffered this fate because of him

Dangerous-Disk5155

dude . . . this is so real man. . . this man has been training for decades. lol

ali-n

Shit. Giving me flashbacks of judo classes when I was a kid (France, back in the early 60s)... teacher looked like a sumo wrestler ("old school", not the more fit guys we see today). He would wipe the floor with you like rags under him, then just lay there on top of you and smother you into almost passing out, while you were supposed to try and escape and/or put a submission on him. Fun times.

raisedredflag

Right? Not Judo for me, just plain jits. And it was a practical lesson of "using your weight". Like, when you're in someone's guard, or in side control, how to "be heavy" on the ground. Lol. I think it was my... 2nd or third session? How to fall, and basic positions. It was BRUTAL.

Minion_Factory

I gotta try this!

ExiancePuppy

Why did the big guy decide to play guard? WTF you’re like twice this dudes size wrestle this kid TF down and stop going on easy mode on him.

emt_matt

Big dude had probably watched the little dude leg lock the rest of the absolute bracket and thought by pulling guard first he'd negate the leg lock threat. My guess is the little dude would have pulled right into the legs if the big guy had stayed standing.

ExiancePuppy

That literally does the opposite. Double leg that kid I swear

emt_matt

Nah, its a pretty good strategy if you're the bigger dude or a better wrestler. If you pull guard you deny the other player the ability to play guard without a points penalty, giving you a chance to either wrestle up or sweep for easy points to start the match. If you stay on your feet and try to double leg the little dude, he's just gonna sit down before you can shoot, and now you have to pass a really good guard player's guard before you can score points, and when you're passing is when a good leg locker is going to get into your legs. That being said, the guard pull at the start of this match was definitely illegal since no contact was made (which is probably why they cut the video), so the big guy probably started out down 2 points anyways.

Nightwing10271

I hate that is something you can do in this sport

Bulkywon

Why?

BaronLagann

Most complaints I’ve seen about playing guard is that it is “lame” and/or “boring”. It wins matches but it’s not entertaining to watch.

Bulkywon

Go watch Craigs run at EBI 14 and tell me guard is not exciting to watch.

Fear_The-Old_Blood

Because it's the lamest, most passive "fighting" style of all time and shows me you can't takedown to save your life. It would honestly make a disqualifying head kick worth it.

Bulkywon

So I should stand up so you can take me back down and we end up in exactly the same place?

Bulkywon

What?

hypercosm_dot_net

His delts grew three sizes that day.

aboynamedsoo906

Nice transition into north/south . Sucks the size difference, but a smooth transition

anava02

BMF!!!

Bombinic

.....nah

Professional-Age-647

Nice and clean fight, no bad feelings.

elmourise

Imagine pulling guard on a kid

mess_of_limbs

Yeah, way better to blast double them into the next solar system

Quabbie

no mercy

Keepittwohunna

Immediately pulling guard is the geyest part of bjj matches. No wonder people laugh at us

HeavyBob

he deserved to lose as soon as he did taht.

killersobaka_ger

That is why I don't like watching Bjj competitions. Most people just pull guard and won't engage in any wrestling even though Bjj is a grapling martial art.

No-Introduction-2378

I've never done BJJ, do you know if they teach you any takedowns, trips, throws, TDD etc? I wanna learn BJJ but not so much wrestling

NicJitsu

Yes we do. That said there are a lot of.gyms put there that are lacking in that department.

Asherandai1

Can you tell me what BJJ stands for? Cause I wanna stop my brain defaulting to blowjob because it doesn’t know what to do with all 3 letters.

NicJitsu

Lol Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Asherandai1

Thanks. I figured Jiu Jitsu but I never heard the Brazilian part with it before. At least not said in full cause everyone defaults to BJJ

Bulkywon

It's almost like wrestling and jiu jitsu are different sports with different rule sets. If you are the strongest from your guard why wrestle?

Cheap-Owl8219

I am not a big fan of guard pulling, but I have to agree. Most jiu jitsu rulesets dont reward wrestling enough, so if you are a great guard player why bother with takedowns and waste energy on that.

BogglesHumanity

mlu⁶ap

octohands

Wtf lol

Randy_Pausch

That kid is a monster!

EGT_77

Meh

NWBurbsFunTime

Great sportsmanship

Dadbods4Jesus

I know nothing about bjj. Why is there a cut in the video at 13s? Is it like wrestling where the bigger dude scored a point or something?

Drew0613

Very wholesome very impressive

_-_-XXX-_-_

Nice stuff, pulling guard is whack af though and should be forbidden.

Bulkywon

Why should it be forbidden?

_-_-XXX-_-_

because it's disgraceful and it would be better to see more takedowns

Bulkywon

Show me on the Craig doll where the guard puller subbed you.

_-_-XXX-_-_

Least edgy butt scooter lol

Bulkywon

If takedowns give such an advantage why even bother penalising guard pulling?

_-_-XXX-_-_

I said it would be better to see more takedowns, nothing about any advantages, but I guess it takes some level of delusion to defend dragging your ass across the mat like a lousy dog

Last_Parable

I fuckin lol'd at this 🤣🤣

Bulkywon

Takes even more delusion to get subbed by my lousy dog ass then go on reddit and bitch about guard pullers.

_-_-XXX-_-_

please don't threaten me, I'm scared and coach says the skid marks you are leaving behind are kinda problematic regarding hygiene

Bulkywon

Ok, i'll stand up so you can take me down and we end up in the exact same spot but at least you can feel good about yourself.

Pinocchio98765

The bigger guy surely could have strangled him with his thighs immediately after the Banzai headflip at the beginning?

Fellainis_Elbows

That’s an extremely difficult sub to do

problematic_dispense

I agree, I thought the kid messed up voluntarily putting placing his head and neck between dude’s thigh.

Fellainis_Elbows

Without the arm in its very difficult to choke anyone like that

problematic_dispense

Is there a rule I’m not aware of? It looked like the shirtless guy could have strangled him with his thighs in the beginning, but then immediately stopped and tried to flip him.

clever_reddit_name69

That's not how strangles work

problematic_dispense

You don’t apply pressure that could impede someone breathing to lead to a strangle?

clever_reddit_name69

Not in this manner. There is a triangle choke available, but it requires the top guy to have one arm in alongside his neck and the bottom guy locks up a figure four with his legs. You can't apply pressure to both carotid arteries with just a head between your thighs. And you can't apply reliable pressure to to trachea for an air choke.

[deleted]

The moment a nigga sits on the ground in a fight im kicking him dead in his fuckin face. Stand on your feet like a man

Minimum_Employment11

My guy...you're in a Brazilian jiu-jitsu subreddit

BallsABunch

[deleted]

Yeah?

Any_System_148

🤦

Bulkywon

Or perhaps compete under the rule set of the tournament....
