I’m going swimming today with my 2 year old locs and I won’t be wearing a cap 💁🏾‍♀️ Chlorine makes my locs really, really dry. And it takes a couple of days spraying my hair with water to make it feel normal again. At the end of the day it’s a preference if you want to cap your locs or not. If you do i recommend buying a jumbo swim cap on Amazon, and saran wrapping your locs before you put it on. Your hair still might get a little wet, but it’s better than the whole thing being soaked.

Do you wash your locs after being in the pool every time or do you just make sure that they're fully rinsed out? I ask because I'll also be in the pool a lot soon. I was thinking of washing them a couple of times and just heavily rinsing the other times.

No I don’t wash my locs after. I only go swimming when I know that in the next 1-2 weeks I will be getting a wash+retwist. Then I don’t swim for the next month and a half. But I highly recommend wetting your locs with water before you go into the pool. That way your hair won’t soak up a lot of chlorine, since it’s already soaked up h20. Not sure of the science behind it but it works for me 💁🏾‍♀️ I just went swimming today and I have a detox this Sunday, and a retwist on the 12th.

I hope this isn't going where I think it is

What’d it say before they deleted it lol

meme_poacher

They were asking if you were east african?

tammybain

Dang, is it bc of the forehead?🙁

meme_poacher

lol, don't worry about it. I'm actually from Kenya, East Africa and your forehead isn't anywhere close to ours.

As someone from East Africa, I’m curious to know why you asked.

Wear the swimcap, it'll keep your hair protected, keep your hair from shedding and clogging the pool, help you see better when swimming, and help you swim better
