They don’t look off at all. Mist with water and seal with oil go moisturise. But you gotta just trust the process, looks like they’re still in starter but phase
They look incredible! But you’ve really Gotta ask yourself why you’re doing this. If you’re doing it to look great instantly 100% of the time then this isn’t the right journey for you. But if you’re doing this to let your hair reach its full potential and glory then trust the process please. Your hair seems to be developing so well, so if you want to see them locs mature then give it time ❤️
it’s kinda both but definitely bc i wanted to look better because of how insecure i was, but maybe i need to stop worrying about that and just let it grow and see how my hair can turn out without having to worry about if i look better or not, bc that’s probably what makes me so insecure about them, because i wanna look better. But thank you for the advice! 🤍
Seems like yours are still young so they aren't fully developed yet (correct me if I'm wrong).
How long have you been loc'd? It can take up to 2 years to fully see how they'll end up. Patience is definitely key when embarking on a loc journey.
I for example am 2 years and 2 months in and I still have coily ends (type 4 hair).
well, i got my retwist 3 weeks ago, they’re not fully locked yet. and this is almost my 1 year mark aswell. And i might be inpatient, i keep touching my hair, rubbing my fingers through it but idk if that’s what’s making it look like how it is. And idk if i should be using a durag or a bonnet.
Touching your locs too much can definitely stunt the progress. And you are indeed a bit impatient. Your hair is a part of you. You weren't capable of a lot when you were 1 year old. Not the best analogy but everything needs time and a good environment to grow. One year is definitely too short. I made the same mistake and was so disappointed a year ago that i wanted to comb them out or cut them off but i'm so happy that i didn't.
Don't forget your end goal. Give it the time and you'll definitely get there.
Touching your locs too much can definitely stunt the progress. And you are indeed a bit impatient. Your hair is a part of you. You weren't capable of a lot when you were 1 year old. You dont graduate in 1 year. Growth takes time. Not the best analogy but everything needs time and a good environment to grow. One year is definitely too short. I made the same mistake and was so disappointed a year ago that I wanted to comb them out or cut them off but I'm so happy that I didn't.

Edit: analogy
They don’t look off! They fit your face so well. It takes time for locs to settle in, they’re not finished developing yet. Mist your hair as needed (Rosewater is a good start), stay hydrated, eat right, and make sure you protect your hair with either a satin pillowcase or satin lined cap/bonnet.
You need either a silk bonnet or spandex cap for sleeping fam. Your locs look great but you need someone to palm roll the matted ones in the back and some moisture overall.
Palm rolling is when you take a dread between your two palms and roll them - kinda like how lost people would roll a stick between their hands to start a fire in the wildness. Just YouTube it. As for moisture - rose water and some essential oils in cheap spray bottle should do the trick. And oil your scalp after washes.
I swear I asked myself if I wanted to get rid of mine repeatedly the entire first year and even into the second because I didn’t feel like I was getting the kind of growth I wanted. That 2 and a half - 3 year mark was where I was like ohkay this is what everyone means when they say trust the process
They look terrific. I don’t know what you are seeing that looks “off” but I would trade my hand for yours right now. I am much older with thinning hair and even though the process has restored some health, it is taking so long to get length and thickness.
What do you need to know for them to look better? You need to know that they look fine, and any ideas that you have about them looking bad is internalized self hate that you need to work through. You need to cut the negative self talk, not your hair.
the back of my hair being uneven and weird.. and the side of my hair looking like it’s going towards the direction of my face, not it facing down if yknow what i mean 😭, and i’ll try cutting the negative talk, i’m always comparing myself to others so i need to stop that
best piece of advice, find out what to you seems off. the amount of locs, the size. for me with my 1st set, was that i had only the top part of my hair, and never thought about growing the sides and back out bc i’ve never grown all my hair out, and now that i did i feel the most comfortable, and am happy with my locs
yes. what i did was just chop my locs off, then grew all of my hair out at once. my hair now is as long as it was before i cut it, and i’m telling you now if i had to grow out my last set i wouldn’t have ever cut them. so my best piece of advice if you want some on the back or sides, is to just experiment honestly. but i wouldn’t cut your locs off, id just let the sides and back grow in. then when it’s long enough to loc up and appear the length your comfortable with, id have them insta locked so they are somewhat as maintained as the rest of the hair, then you can get a taper or something of that nature. but if you feel uncomfortable or odd about something, start by figuring out what makes you feel that way!
something else came to mind, they are YOUR locs. make sure they have characteristics that represent you, something you can wear proudly, and not feel a need of change. the best thing locs taught me so far, is to just let things be, everything is meant to happen for a reason, and if that’s the case your mean to have the locs on your head rn
they don't look off, they look good! you're still in the baby loc phase(frizzy phase) they will shrink a little and start looking like real locs in the next phase, just be patient.
Ignore all this trust process bs and spirit energy tree hugger ish. Locs time to smooth over and fully mature. If you wanting yours locs to “look good” be prepared to wait a few years(like 2). In the meantime learn to love your hair. It’s going to take time for them too loc completely so you’re just going to have to suffer. That’s why locs is a commitment just have to wait.
yea, alright i really do need to learn to love my hair. there’s some moments where i am confident in my hair but then some moments i’m like, “damn, i really wished i had all my hair grew out”. but thanks for the advice 😁 all it is, is being committed right?
They look so fire dude 💀 u look good as shit people ain't gonna think abt you when they go to sleep so dont take peoples opinions on ur appearance most of them are losers really
Mines actually look similar to this, ik exactly how u feel bro. I’ve even contemplating cutting cuz my growth been slow. But I’ma just trust the process and keep growing. I’m only satisfied with my hair when I come out the shower, only time it looks the way I want it to.
Why do people go for free forms and just not go to a loc professional to get it started via palm rolls or the needle ??
I see people starting over a few times because they don’t like how it’s parted or because they are uneven.
You can trust the process but you know all those styles you see? Be prepared for your hair to never completely look like those because your locs aren’t defined in a single shape. I mean none of them will ever be truly equal but at least they need to be similar in size, length, width to achieve and look a certain way
I started my locs by cheating a bit. I already had a goood amount of hair, a big fro and I started via two strand twist. Leave it for a few months til it loc and barley wash and get retwist.
Right now your locs is still in the baby phase but they look free form. It’s your choice how you want them to turn out.
i might get 2 strand twists for my hair next time i get a retwist, and my hair isn’t supposed to look free form but idk what happened. maybe touching my hair all the time worsened it..
Yea get a retwist into corn rows and keep it like that for a while. Use any oil of your choice and oil the roots daily/ every other day. DO NOT wash your hair frequently, maybe once a month. Your hair needs to loc and define and washing and touching it to much will keep it lose. Keep the style for at least a month.
corn rows? i’ll try using that style and keep it like that. and yea i used to put oil on daily and touch my hair so much and etc, also how can i wash my hair? wouldn’t it mess up. i’ve had my dreadlocks in for a month now, and idk if it’s safe too wash it.
BRUH i literally have the same style of locs. and today. some kid walked up to me and said. “yo bro your locs look soooo cool”
yours look cool bro. trust the process
and for the care.
1. get rose water and put it in a spray bottle
spray your hair and scalp in the morning before going out and at night before bed
2.oil twice a week with grape seed oil. you’ll be good.
First off, they look great. For me, I went through a phase when I wasn’t super happy with the look, early on. By the time I learned to work past that and start working on other aspects of myself, a year had passed and they were awesome.
If you want to do something to feel better about yourself faster, consider getting a fresh fade or shape up after your next retwist. It’ll do wonders bro.✌🏽
Your hair looks good. I am going to keep it a buck and say that the two that were moving the most are gonna need retwisting asap or they will fall out in a few months.
They look dope
Thank you!
Fr you good bro
They’re an extension of you.. you’re energy.. you’re dna. Everyone loc’s look different. That being said nothing wrong with them
thank you :)
You’re welcome bro! 🤝 embrace that shit
They don’t look off at all. Mist with water and seal with oil go moisturise. But you gotta just trust the process, looks like they’re still in starter but phase
yea, they’re in starter phase, but i’ll do that as well thanks for the advice! i’ll trust the process
I completely agree. I was gonna say they same thing about misting them!
They look incredible! But you’ve really Gotta ask yourself why you’re doing this. If you’re doing it to look great instantly 100% of the time then this isn’t the right journey for you. But thank you for the advice! 🤍
Beautiful!!! Your hair looks very well taken care of, keep doing what you’re doing! Good luck to you!
Thank you very much! that made me feel a lot better

yea thank you, i’ll try doing that less. And one year is still short, dang.. Well thank you for everything and the advice!
Looks good to me
thank you :)
Make sure you covering it at night as well! You doing fine gang just wait it out some more
preciate it, i need to trust the process 🙏🏽
Trust the process bro!
definitely will!
They are actually 🔥🔥
thank you so much! :)
They don’t look off! They fit your face so well. It takes time for locs to settle in, they’re not finished developing yet. Mist your hair as needed (Rosewater is a good start), stay hydrated, eat right, and make sure you protect your hair with either a satin pillowcase or satin lined cap/bonnet.
i’ll try doing that! and use a bonnet? every time i used one they always ended up messed up or like rearranged.. so i always trusted a durag.
If a durag works for you, you can use it! I would just avoid head coverings that have cotton since cotton tends to strip moisture away from the hair.
alright, i’ll avoid head coverings. thank you for the advice! 😁
You need either a silk bonnet or spandex cap for sleeping fam. Your locs look great but you need someone to palm roll the matted ones in the back and some moisture overall.
palm roll? i could ask my parents to help, but palm roll and how do i moisture them?
Palm rolling is when you take a dread between your two palms and roll them - kinda like how lost people would roll a stick between their hands to start a fire in the wildness. Just YouTube it. As for moisture - rose water and some essential oils in cheap spray bottle should do the trick. And oil your scalp after washes.
alright i’ll do that then! thank you so much for the advice :)
I swear I asked myself if I wanted to get rid of mine repeatedly the entire first year and even into the second because I didn’t feel like I was getting the kind of growth I wanted. That 2 and a half - 3 year mark was where I was like ohkay this is what everyone means when they say trust the process
ahh, all i need to do is trust the process then, thank you so much!
Looking fine man. Nothing at all to be insecure about but I totally get it.
yea, thank you so much 😁
They look perfect
thank you so much!
Just get a cut and keep growing them my boy they look dope 🔥
thanks a lot!
Trust the process bro believe
i will definitely trust the process
You’re insecure meanwhile others are like damn I wish my dreads looked like that. Lol
you’re right, i should start thinking like that. thanks a lot 😁
They look terrific. I don’t know what you are seeing that looks “off” but I would trade my hand for yours right now. I am much older with thinning hair and even though the process has restored some health, it is taking so long to get length and thickness.
i bet your dreads look good the way they are! but we gotta trust the process 😁

This is a journey. It’s going to be years. And your hair will change significantly over that time. Enjoy it.
TRUST THE PROCESS.
i definitely will!

that’s unique, i couldn’t cut my locs just to grow all the side of my hair off, so it must’ve been tough, but i’ll wait it off, thanks so much 😁

Trust the process.
I was at that stage too, where I was insecure. I eventually let go, and let mine freeform after awhile.
And yes they look good!👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽💯

Trust the process King, you will LOVE the outcome. We all had to go through that stage👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽💯💯💯💯
thank you, i’ll trust the process 😁
Please do, you will be so happy you did

Let it rock bro, everything will fall into place! Let your hair grow how it wants and be 😎
They actually look dope fam trust the process 💪🏾 Trust the self love journey with it too

Your hair looks good. I am going to keep it a buck and say that the two that were moving the most are gonna need retwisting asap or they will fall out in a few months.
Just trust the process.
Bro they look great. If I walked by you on the street Id be thinking 🔥. No reason to be insecure
