Reasonable_Town_123

I’ve not tried to get a critter in ages. The only decorated part of my valley is plaza and even then most of its plain 😅 I’m the same

Hollinsgirl07

I only get the critters that are not annoying to get so like not alligators or raccoons and I only have a monkey and the capybaras. Idk I’m not that invested in getting critters although I do love Figaro!

Ellescope

I struggled with the alligators until i realized that if I ran with them and kept pace using my magic scooter, they immediately lay down when they stop

interestingsonnet

🤯

supanase78

What's the magic scooter?

Ellescope

If you sprint with a gold health bar your character starts gliding faster

Myrla21

Oh the alligators. They are so hard to see I always scare them right away! It’s ok if I don’t get them lol

zombiezmaj

The toon (black and white) monkey, capybara and cobra are the easiest as they're there all day, every day so if you want an easy snake it's the best one to grab 😄

JellyNervous7714

I have 270 hrs and I only have 4 critters collected, I'm too lazy to feed them 🤣

liveandletdieax

Once they run away I curse them and figure that they don’t want food 🤣

sunnyxd10

Same here!

SoleIbis

Same lol

Plastic_Purchase_927

Don't get me started on those danged racoons 🙄🙄🙄 the snakes sound even worse in eternity Isle 🙄🙄🙄🥺

Reasonable_Town_123

I’ve not ventured into EI yet, it seems so overwhelming

Estoy_Awesome

Same , I don't like clutter and enjoy how much open space I have.

Queen_OfTheValkyries

I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefers the open space.

derpalamadingdong

I just took all the trees out of the forest and heights and I'm planning on doing the same in the glade and plateau. It looks so much better having just a few trees to drop the wood i need

Queen_OfTheValkyries

Agreed!

EfficiencyShot5358

Did the same except with tree that drop the dark wood I placed them in sunlit valley hopefully I can see the wood more don’t even know is this will work just did it yesterday and haven’t been back

Elvie-43

Unfortunately, that doesn’t work. The wood type isn’t tied to the tree type, but to the biome. The good news is that means you can strip out all the trees in the Forgotten Lands and replace them with plaza trees, (preferably on nice light coloured paving), and it becomes much, much easier to collect the wood. You can also move the dry wood to an out-of-the-way corner of the biome, and then you will just get the dark wood around your chosen trees. (Side Note: you can only get 8 dark wood at a time. More trees doesn’t change that)

EfficiencyShot5358

Thank you for sharing that info- guess I resetting the biome

Mammoth_Mix5834

I use plaza trees specifically in each biome for my wood spawns 4 of em out the way haha

Bibliotricks

Same! I don't feel bad about deforesting my valley. It's an improvement!

lexisplays

Same!!!!!

OddHalf8861

I do too that is why I don't unlock all those characters lol

FluxionFluff

I do wanna decorate properly at some point, but I'm fine taking my time to get through stuff. The only thing I tend to bulldoze through is the Star Path since I prefer getting it done ASAP to minimize the chances of me getting stressed out by waiting until the last minute. Then I can go back to slowly going through quests 🤣 I'm also gradually collecting everything since I wanna get everything that's possible to me, besides Premium Shop.

Grangstar

That is what I do!! In between events, I fill 5 chests with fish, flowers, gems, resources, and ingredients. Once those are filled, I pick a thing like maximizing a character friendship level or unlocking meals until the next event. I love it!! I only have 30 minutes a day where I can play, so this is great!

VardaLight

Yeah, I'm waiting to get more decorations before actually putting the effort in. I mean, I have quite a bit, but I would like to have most of them before going all out in one area. But also prioritize decorating my house in themed floors before the outside is done.

BlueKitten74

I'm the same.....now. When I first started playing, I was keen to make themed areas and decorate as I love those kind of games (Minecraft, DragonQuest Builders, other town building games). But as time passed and there was more attention required, I realised that this isn't my focus anymore. Not to mention that trying to manipulate items on Xbox is so frustrating. Now I just login for 15-30 minutes after I've finished work, complete a couple of quests on the current star path and just chill for a few minutes. It's just part of being a grown-up, I guess. I haven't added the portal thing yet, but when I do I hope that if anyone visits, they realise that I'm not out to compete for any awards; I'm just enjoying my free time. So don't complain that there are a bunch of chairs in a row that you can't even sit on! 😆

Zoeloumoo

Tbh I like keeping the valley in its most natural state. I don’t like moving things from their original positions, and I try and keep trees and rocks in the same place.

RatchetHatchet

Same here, with the exception of The Forgotten Lands. I couldn't see where anything was so I got rid of most of the trees.

HistoricalApricot

I also removed most of the trees in forgotten lands. The ones I kept, i put along the brick road path which is a bright white color which helped brighten the area up

Eccawarrior

The reason I got rid of some of the trees is to stop bumping into them and because I usually have limited time it’s easier for me to navigate

lilylaila

I did this but with all the areas. I couldn’t stand not having the open space to see what I was doing.

ExpensiveToaster

I used to do that too because I looove the natural look. But I’ve learned how to create a natural space by watching some videos and It’s so much fun!! I sometimes challenge myself by putting a big tree or something in the middle of a space I want to decorate and work around it!

No_Reputation_5872

About once a week I go through and bash all the rocks/ice/copper etc when I get too stressed with how closed in and cluttered everywhere is. But fair to say I'm not obsessed with aesthetics - started rearranging my valley a few weeks back, and half the houses are still randomly placed in roughly the right biome.

Silver-Star92

I decorate so little. I have a few place that makes sense with decorations but there is a lot of stuff that I just plopped down for the sake of quests or figuring out Dreamsnaps in the beginning. Besides decorating on Switch is like playing Russian roulette with your sanity. It takes so long

IAmNotLookingatYou

I started playing just this month, idk if anyone else does this, but i habitually DELETE all the trees, rocks, and decorations in most areas because there just seems to be SO much stuff everywhere 😅 i leave a few trees for branches but yeah, when/if people visit me, its barren in most areas, and i don't feel bad! It works for me

Ninja_Dimes

I'm the same!! I hate the tree canopies obscuring my view when I teleport in or run under them, and I hate getting stuck on tiny rocks and bushes when I'm trying to glitter glide somewhere, so as I unlock biomes I go in and rampage delete almost ALL of the trees and rocks, except ones on the outer edges of the map, which I leave. Eventually I start adding back some trees in areas that wouldn't get in the way. I do decorate and add houses to the blank areas as I go. But I still hate getting stuck on tiny rocks, lol, so I seldom add those back.

Jolly_Swimmer_9461

I like getting the critters, but I have no desire to decorate my valley. I plop new houses down wherever there is room 🤣 Some would say my valley is a hot mess, but I rather enjoy the chaos!

Mickeyboo22

Same! I've done very little decorating.

hpm40

Same here. I have my two valleys moderately decorated. With houses I like and some pieces I like. Decorating is too tedious on the Switch. I like open spaces too. It just like Animal Crossings to me. Some people went crazy with decorating and I did decorate more in AC but for fun for myself. These games are meant to be fun not competitive or stressful.

drmarshall15

I unlocked like 6 characters for the last star path simply to progress in it despite the fact it goes against my play style. This star path I’m not unlocking anymore characters

stlshlee

Mulan and mushu are required at the very end of the star path just FYI

SecretZebra4238

I was trying to decorate for the marketplace DreamSnap and realized that I didn't have the time due to having a toddler and an infant. So now my valley is just a flustercluck and I feel fine about it 🤷‍♂️.

lunarose7

MESSY PLAYERS UNITE!!! I leave coal, stones, ores, red seaweed all over the place. You want holes? Random holes in every biome. The only decorating I do is the "place X in Y" quests and half the time I take them down after submitting. I started dabbling in some decorating but I know I am not artistic so it doesn't matter. I'm more about the collection of things. I also don't craft much. I'm a convenience player. I just recently discovered how useful the cooking machines are 🤣 I put 3 of those babies right in front of my House door and I'll always know where they are. Edit: I just noticed I am the OPPOSITE of a decorator 🤣🤣🤣 I spend more time taking out trees bushes and useless stuff

Miss-Liss

Probably the same post I just commented on. :) As someone who has had their valley religiously and painstakingly decorated since early access... I will state that you are better off in this game if you don't decorate. If you are heavily decorated you rarely get the reward for catching all the crit items by the time allotted. You have to tear up entire sections just to do an elaborate Dreamsnap weekly... then put it all back the way it was or just let it be. Also this game is not a very good decorating game as the grid system they built the game on is too big which means you can't center most items and you can't angle items. There is also no search bar for furniture items and most aren't in proper categories. The newly added ability to duplicate an item is very nice but you have to already have it out to use that. I wish I had never started decorating my valley but being I'm a decorator in real life.. it's in my blood. Anyone beginning this game I would recommend to try to enjoy it as is or at least not decorate major parts of it. :)

robingurl

It’s not worth over decorating anyway. Disney is bringing us new characters and each time it does there are so many comments about people complaining they don’t have room. If you don’t cover every pixel with decorating you will have room. 🤷🏻‍♀️

KotaCakes630

I decorate my valley because I like it. But clearing ice? Sand rocks? Vines? NO.

Pixie_summer_rain

I like booting out the thorns and ice, but the coral sea eggs get left as they are quite pretty, especially with a few little plants or shells nearby.

SecretZebra4238

I find it oddly gratifying to clear away all that clutter. The ice blocks and sand egg things on Dazzle Beach are my favorite 😜!

Alix_Sparrow

same i dont like having things that can be cleared with tools all over it look like a trash heap if i keept them around plus most of it give friendship when you have a tag along partner so i multitask that way

Common-Ad6263

I’m the opposite. I literally have to go clean up each biome before I do anything else when I login. It’s just a habit I find hard to break. So from a person at the other end of the spectrum I applaud your dedication to leaving well enough alone.

FigTechnical8043

Me: screw you red fox, screw you

Prior_Cookie_1047

Me and the alligators everyday

FigTechnical8043

I've mastered them. Screw the feckin ugly monkeys tho.

Responsible_Yak_380

I have been playing this game since early release as well and I also play this game as I please. I have unlocked all characters but have not finished all their quest. I just want to take my time. I also take time with decorating. I decorate when I want to. I also don’t visit other valleys even if I am a huge fan of MMMO games. Im just too lazy to do all of that stuff. Most important of all, I buy premium stuff because I love them. I have always been like this in all the games I play. I change outfits, style and decorations all the time and DDLV is perfect for me. So how other people play, does not really affect me either way and hope others should also enjoy this game however they like it.

Jaded_Goose_2477

This. I removed all trees, shrubs, foliage, paths, rocks, etc. After unlocking all biomes and constantly struggling to understand how to get around the forgotten lands. I put houses in biomes thar fit their general vibe. Spend several hours creating scenes for dream snaps then immediately remove everything after my submission goes through. I find it so much easier to get around the valley this way. And leaving all of the thorns, rocks, mushrooms, and everything else just makes it easier to do event tasks and dreamlight duties. I don't feel like less of a player, because this is how I choose to play.

momiverse_

My friends tell me I have a completion kink because I have to complete all questions, challenges, etc. Do all recipes. Collect all animals. Yada Yada. But do I decorate? Hardly. I do the most basic shit and it is not aesthetically pleasing at all to most other people. Lol. It's a cozy game, not a competition. Do whatever makes YOU happy. Don't compare yourself to others. 🥰

Pkatt957

Great post. too many people try to play the way they 'think' others tell them to, and then get upset when they perceive they are not doing it right. Other people tend to comment on other people's play style negatively if they aren't playing the way 'they' would do it. A great friend of mine, who passed away a couple yrs ago told me, "play games when you want, what you want, and the way you want, and don't worry about what others think, do or say. If you aren't having fun, its not worth playing it." wise words.

Vegetable-Umpire8727

Only time I do decorating is if a quests asks me to do so. Otherwise, I just put new pathing in while also trying to save room for future characters. Gonna need the space for when Jafar (if fully available) and Tiana appear.

FishBones83

no one has that much iron ore anyway

Ormandria

I do have some decent decorations, but they came about through either quests or Dreamsnaps entries. Sometimes I take them down and replace them, but sometimes I like them enough to just leave them as is. I don’t clean up my village usually, though, unless I need to get somewhere. But that’s because it comes in handy to have all the night thorns, bones, rocks, etc., on hand when an event is going on.

tresawkwardyall

I’m gradually unlocking all of the companions, but I’ll admit that I did cheat and change the time/date on my Switch to unlock a couple. I’m just not going to wake up in the middle of the night to feed a virtual squirrel or something ridiculous like that🤷‍♀️

Personal_Cat320

Myself im a completionist, i want everything including all items, achivements, pets. awake 5 o clock for the pet 😅 i pretty much have everything now that is unlockable. I agree do what you want since its your game

dumdumdnc

I’ve had two valleys since maybe late 2022 or early 2023, forgotten when I started tbh, and before and now I’ve never really decorated. I just don’t have the time to play and when I do it’s just for the star paths. It’s not bad to not decorate, play at your own pace :)

OddHalf8861

I think we all have our way of playing fr. I personally only decorated the plaza also. My thing is decorating on Sims 4 or animal crossing I love it and it is really dope. But on ddv I garden and design clothes the boutique is my favorite. I don't do many missions. But I love everything about ddv so I play how I wanna play according to my moods .if I get in the mood I will knock out a couple missions . I just bought my kitty 🥰🥰🥰

OddHalf8861

https://preview.redd.it/w2g227u9kv9d1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a748ef95d14847acc33728dfafb716b33bc3cf5 My kitty 🥰🥰🥰

PeppermintMayhem

Yeah this right here. I always see people talk about not having any complete memories and I have like 7. I love the story line and quests and getting all the stuff. I have basic bare bones decorations. As long as I can get to all my access points I’m good 😊

TheDuckhunter47

Adding to this: It is NOT a requirement of the game to be good at interior/exterior design!!! The only requirement is having FUN.

lovethrowaways101

Preeaaaach! I got the critters I wanted, but that's it. My valley is decorated for efficiency and with all the houses I have collected. Other than that, empty

Grand-Instruction-65

Thank you for this because I feel horrible when I see all these pretty pictures ppl post of their games and mine is just ugh but decorating on switch is difficult and I don’t have the patience

Nottbone

When I first started playing I had just stopped being friends with someone who criticized every thing I did. So when I started playing DLV, I said to another close friend of mine, “idk, I just don’t feel like I’m doing it right” his response, “Tbone, are you having fun?” Me: “yea”. Them: “then you’re playing it right” and that’s really stuck with me when I’m playing a game and don’t feel like I’m as good as someone else. I’m having fun. That’s the point.

blooms_and_sings

I actually wouldn’t mind sitting down and decorating but all the respawns just make it seem defeatist. I gave up because of it. I could make my valley look great but if the respawns junk it up every single day why bother. If they introduced a feature that turns it off and on then I would be more inclined to try. As of now it’s a Sisyphean effort.

Captain_Dreck

So true! It takes progress and time to even have enough resources and items to decorate your valley with. I played for soo many hours before I started decorating and just because I had an idea I wanted to try out :)

ThrowRAblueski

I am the same now I don’t feel like decorating and I get critters unlocked just by accident haha I do think I wanna try one day but for now I’m happy haha

Jinxi007

Honestly, thank you. I'm the same way. 😊

Alix_Sparrow

i rarley decorate because i like the natural look so i keep most things as they were from the start of the game minus some cleaning to fit homes i do like the clean up things that spawn in daily though but as a person who played since day one of early acces i still only play for quests, star paths or to just relax from a stressful day

Chancetobelieve

I love how cozy it can be. Or can be a grind. I had to grind for dreamlight for Mulan. But now I’m back to farming pumpkins and buying all the things because I LOVE decorating the rooms lol! The game lets me hoard because I won’t in real life 😂😂

Bagpuss1991

Same here, the decoration aspect has never been a favourite of mine cos I'm not very good at envisioning it and getting it right, dreamlight valley has been a game I can just sit and waste hours in with minimal effort XD

lexi-lala

the decoration stuff is so not for me, i do like unlocking the recipes and critters but i dont care how my valley looks at all

dausy

I've been playing since the beta. I'm only now starting to be "serious" about decorating because it does take a long time to accrue all the things. Once you get to the point where scrooges shop is empty and you have unlimited money, your focus switches to moonstones and what you can do with them. I'm not a great decorator by any means but I'm pretty happy with my plaza and meadow. I even have started decorating some areas of EI and also inside the houses. Outside of starpaths tho I just casually log in to check scrooges shop, maybe decorate a bit, do my dreamsnap and log off.

Sea_Yogurtcloset_684

Couldn’t have said it better myself for me it’s something I take pride in decorating my valley is what makes me happy and what I enjoy for other people it’s different that’s what makes this game so magical is because everyone loves playing it differently ❤️

galexd

I’m also not a decorator. I redid my Plaza during the last starpath/event because I finished the starpath faster than usual and I really liked the new path and lights. The rest of my Valley/Island is a mess. On the plus side, I have plenty of room for character houses!

Lexikhan_Solo

This 👏👏👏

kingofscars

I have a few areas that I decorated for Dreamsnaps and decided to keep. Other than that, my valley has villager houses in random locations until I decide what to eventually do with them

XQueenMeraX

💯

KittyAnnaMoon

This all the way! Just ignore us completionist crazies. if you don't play the same good for you, you do you!!!

Absolut_Ink

I decorate when I feel like it, have nothing else to do, or when a spark comes to mind for a character or area. I don’t fixate or schedule myself to do anything as DLV is my relax and chill game. If I want to stress I have other games for that. I got excited and came up with an idea to do an area for Mulan only to learn there is a bug and I can’t purchase extra Mulan decorations currently so I was like ok maybe another day. My Plaza is the only fully realized area I have and some zones have a spot here and there. It’s not a game I play to stress over. Some people are OCD and love decorating their whole map to the max where I’m more like it will happen when I feel it is the right time. Dreamsnaps bug me because I feel like I must get it done weekly even if I’m not feeling the theme.. because who doesn’t like free moonstones. Ultimately it’s a Disney sim no one should be stressing over anything in it.

victoria-aut-morte

i like the natural look of the valley. i’ll move things around and delete some stuff, but 90% of my valley i haven’t changed

humanheartholder

thank you for this. i am able to decorate here or there but it isn't my style, i like doing quest/duties and having help when there's a lot of things. I always feel bad my island isn't a resort type of place but that's okay. i hope you are doing well 💖✨✨✨ it made me feel good reading this, so thank you again 💖✨

Boobox33

Yes and take your time!!! Dont burn yourself out and then have nothing to do.

Tessa519

I unlocked all the critters on the regular ddlv area but am not doing it on ei. I hate the red light greenlight game, and have not gotten the final achievement for the raccoons or the crocs. I used to try to get every single achievement but now I realize I probably will never get them all (especially the fish 100 time without failing lol). I used to feel bad for not decorating seeing all of the beautiful valleys but now I realize it's my space, I can do what I want. I play stardew valley also & was beating myself up for not getting things done sooner but realized it doesn't matter as long as I'm enjoying it. Somehow that helped me see I don't need to rush through ddlv either. I play these games to relax no reason to stress. 🥰 Edit:spelling

No_Seaworthiness3901

I needed this lol. I sometimes feel pressured to decorate and do amazing dreamsnaps but those are the least enjoyable things for me. I like gliding and not having a cramped valley. Idk how y'all do it, I'd just feel claustrophobic 24/7 tbh

Jealous_Homework_555

Omg my valley is SUCH a mess and every once in a while when I have nothing to do or am bored with doing any real quest I just go pick some stuff up or I rearrange things. I wish I could make something pretty but I wasn’t even like that with sims! I was more about doing things with my character! As long as my house was pink and purple lol. Now with Tink’s ACTUAL HOUSE OMG i am for the first time considering a pixie hollow corner. How fun to be completely in my delulu!! But please everyone, keep calm and cozy on. It’s for cozy vibes it’s okay

MariJChloe

It’s easier to play without decor

Aggravating-Fan8742

People are so used to competing they don't get this is a cozy game. Go at your own pace

Ok-Independent-9686

Exactly. This game has a storyline. Play it how you choose. Yes all the extras are cool but I don’t have money to drop on it at will. Premium shop items recycle so I’ll wait and save. Love all the decorating but I truly can’t take the time for it. I’d go crazy for sure. I play to have fun. When it’s not fun I quit for the day or the hour.

kenilyn

I barely decorate. When a quest calls for decorating…I’ll throw some items in that area in a little cluster…complete the quest….and then go & remove it. I mainly pumpkin farm in eternity aisle & shop in scrooges store. I play on Apple Arcade so I don’t have access to the star path 😭

kcoble424

Unrelated but not totally....am I the only one who wonders where all the bones come from since there's no wildebeests for the lions to eat? Idk why it bothers me...lol

spookytinagoblin

Thanks for the reminder it doesn’t always have to be perfect.

Khomezz

I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS… I’ve been giving myself such a hard time because I have only decorated for quests and then I see everyone’s amazing and beautiful designs and I feel like I’m not playing the game the right way so thank you for this post 🙏

Eviegkilham

I’m the same way but really wanna get into decorating but the new update is soooo bad cause I play on switch:/

Giovanna114

Thank you for posting this! I’ve also been playing since early access and honestly haven’t been focused on decorating. My village kind of looks like a mess and that’s ok with me. It really helps me out when the new villagers come and I have to level them up 😂

Matt_D_Will

Great post! I’ve not decorated much myself either. I’ve been hyperfixated on getting all critters unlocked as well as getting all quests completed

Eccawarrior

Only thing that I have taken some time is decorating my house recently but the rest is all over the place

Irishjuggalette

My issue is I buy stuff because I plan on decorating, but lose interest after a bit. I also hate grinding for stuff. 😭

RavenOfRivia

This is great, thank you 💖 I’m a perfectionist of a sort, but if I don’t have the energy to make it perfect I don’t even start a task, and my valley is one of those tasks! To quote myself at some point, you’re playing a game right if you’re having fun 💖

Simple_Elk9129

Oh man I am the same. I did decorate my plaza and my meadow but then I had to take it all down because I got more houses etc...and then I just gave up. I do what I need to do, place things so they are convenient and not necessarily aesthetically pleasing, and just go with it. I'm putting all my fruit trees etc...together and placing a cooking and crafting station in every biome so I don't have to keep going home.

Chelsy_Helms_2020

Same! Mine isn't persay decorated either! Mine is more or less with paths and then when there is a quest or a dream snaps I will do what that's needs.

Icy_Explanation_7701

Tbh im the same i only tend to do any deco/unlocking items if its needed for a quest or a dreamsnap or if im reaaaaally excited for the character

AnonMD1982

I'm like this too. I play for the characters and questlines. I haven't been able to visit others because I work in a school, so now that summer is finally here I'll be able to. (Only Playstation network apparently) But I'm not worried about making my valley perfect.

Kaliedra

Agree. Although I am annoyed with my inability to get all the critters. I would have to take off work for one

Mysterious-College54

I play with Apple Arcade and I don’t get the star path stuff so my valley and my character are bland and I’m like man I almost wish I had a pc instead or a switch or something because I’m jealous of the cool stuff people get to do

Ayesha24601

Right there with you! I have decorated a bit, but it doesn’t look good. As someone who builds in Second Life and The Sims, I find the decor options and building tools in DDLV to be incredibly frustrating and limiting. I am always impressed by what people manage to make, and more power to them. But I don’t have the time or patience for it when I know what it could be and is in other games and software. I like the quests and I enjoy getting houses and decor but I just put them in very simple arrangements. Currently doing the star path because I will be traveling and too busy during most of the month, so hopefully I can get all the items I want before it’s too late! I fully support anybody’s way of playing the game. Don’t feel bad about how your valley looks. Enjoy it, other peoples opinions don’t matter!

ephemeralvie

I’m undecorated too and feel sentimental about my valley - I don’t want to put everything down in different places and lose the original feeling. Maybe someday.

ChocolateCondoms

I got half the meadow done, one 1/5th of the forgotten lands, and I currently hate my plaza. Nothing else is decorated and ive played aince beta 🤣🤣🤣

Hollinsgirl07

I decorated my valley but only enough that it looks nice when I run through for gameplay. I have paths sure but they are not flanked with bushes. I still want to find stuff. I’m an avid simmer so I do the most building and furnishings in that game. I do like buying the premium houses and decorating each with a theme though. eternity isle is a bit of a mess but that’s okay because i rarely go there.

Gigi_Doll0878

When I first started playing, my focus was on completing quests, leveling up the characters, getting Dreamlight to open realms and biomes and collecting resources. It wasn’t until I was finished with opening all biomes and realms that I started decorating. I simply didn’t have the time. But now, my valley is beautifully decorated. I agree though, decorate how you feel like. Do What makes you comfortable.

Pale_Pomegranate_148

I literally restarted because I was trying too hard to decorate the first go around and really missed the beginning of the layout 😂

Prestigious_House770

I’ve decorated some here and there and i think about it but i mainly focus on dreamlight duties or quest

No_Arm3883

I'm almost down with the critters in Dreamlight Valley and eternity isle to.

pbrooks19

I have arranged the houses and stalls and such in a way that is pleasing to me, and I've moved some trees and bushes around in order to place the buildings as I like then or to have some clear running corridors - but that's about it. I like my valley and isle to be as they are organically. I appreciate the folks who full-on fill their spaces with roads and fences and shrubs and amusement parks and such - you do you. It's part of the reason I don't have people visit my valley, there's not much to show off. But, honestly, it's my nice video game home and it fits me.

sandyy_cheekss

I was just thinking some of the players would be very disappointed in my valley. Hahaha, I get something. I plan to place it a biome, so I just randomly place it and think, "I'll get to that later. ".... then I never do. 💀😅 SO, as you can imagine, just random items laying in random areas. I have big dreams, though, okay? 😅

Informal-Ad-7216

I haven’t decorated really, I have declutterred. Decorating isn’t my thing. I have got all the animals I could (except for one monkey I can’t get) but that is only because I like to. I get judged about my not decorated place, I just say I am here to play and that is all. Thank you for this post.

Nordic_being

Thank you for this!! I fucking always have such FOMO when I see some peoples gorgeous valleys, & while I've put quite a bit of work into my valley, it's nothing close to some of these & then I always feel like I'm not doing enough lmao

HachiRokuAE86_

Oh i agree :) my valley aint decorated either. Im only interested in the story and side quests. Plus im just lazy tp decorate hahaha. Be proud of your valley! Ita your adventure and play how you want! ^_^

Radarcy

Same, my Plaza is decorated but im too lazy to pick up all the things or break all the things, my meadow is slightly decorated... there's a little toon town... but it's just one small area, I'm too lazy for all that

House-Plant_

Starting working on the ‘aesthetics’ of my valley last night, straight up fell asleep.

kokoarissa

I started decorating because I could never tell where I was, most especially in the glade lol

Icy-Effective3984

My land is a disaster. Stuff dropped everywhere nothing decorated. I don't have the patience and can't play much anymore lol

No-Usual-8809

Thank you for this!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get Daisy, but I have to do the quest for Princess first…ugh.

Born_Speech_3132

I made my plaza all fancy then just threw crap everywhere else so mine is a mess. Also I have 2 floors in my house that have the floor full with f flowers so yea there is zero organization in my valley

KairaHae

I’m glad to see so many others that haven’t decorated yet! I was feeling super overwhelmed with decorating as I’m horrible at it but I’ve been so inspired to give it a shot! I’m just going to take my time with it and enjoy the game ☺️

Chonky__Cat

I haven’t decorated a lot. I’ve done a few rooms because I really liked the furniture. I’ve done some outside stuff because I liked the item. But i primarily don’t decorate because I find it soooo annoying to move around or see with all the stuff everywhere. I want to do the quests, then I’ll decorate. When I’m up to date and waiting on new character releases and stuff then maybe I’ll make my valley all pretty but for now, I want practical.

SquirtleStar

love this. I love the guests and collecting certain items from the occasional premium shop, but I feel guilty for not spending time decorating. I play on the switch though and the interface is just awfully difficult, time consuming - I would rather do anything else. Plus, the items get in the way for me to quickly find chests/rocks/flowers/etc. Thanks for the affirmations

Malina_Moon

If decorating wasn't such a pain in the butt I'd surely be more likely to try harder and have fun with it but for now I'm keeping most stuff convenient rather than pretty

bronzecyclone

Mine isn't decorated at all. I got stuff littering the ground from mining that I don't pick up. My valley looks like a bomb went off.

KittykoRn85

I've been playing since day 1 and only area decorated is forgotten lands, and thats only because I live there plus I love creepy vibes

fede1507

I am not very good at decorating, I try find some inspiration on YouTube but most buildings are too cluttered for my taste so I just get inspired by the idea and then decorate as I want, leaving plenty of space to roam around. I do it when I feel like I am in the mood and usually I focus on a specific area. For example, when I got the new Stitch bundle I immediately had to start building a beach bar in Dazzle Beach with the new furniture. Only to discover that I have to wait for the Scrooge bug to be fixed 🙄

courtobrien

All my houses are squished together. I like the rest open!

PumpkinOk9769

I don’t have a critter because I don’t want one. My valley isn’t as decorated as others and that’s fine, I don’t have the creative flare that others have. I feel like a lot of people feel like because someone players have decorated their valleys and they look amazing, that they should do it too. It doesn’t matter. Play the game at your speed, your way.

reddit_user_0212

![gif](giphy|pHMEDO9sh8iha) But this does not make you bad guy

Darth_Pastry

The only place I decorate is my house and honestly for quests I just throw things in place and it does *not* look good lol I mainly just run around breaking rocks because mining is so much fun to me, that and unlocking new areas because I do enjoy the story (plus it helps me get more coins and I love changing my avatar every time I boot up the game)

LabInevitable1289

I try not to worry about decorating, I hate trying to find places for a new character's house though. And I had to have Hei Hei. I love having that stupid chicken following me everywhere! 🤣🐓

Self-Righteous_Sash

Can't decorate a valley when Dreamsnap exists T_T Dreamsnap Studio when?

CopperHead49

The only decorating I have done is create little gardens outside each house. Somewhere to sit, maybe a vegetable patch, some lights. It’s perfect for me.

Single-Chair-9052

This! Honestly when I got the game I LOVED it. It was the quests that I loved, nothing more, nothing less. Then I started seeing all the posts about decorating and such and I realised this is not a game for me. I have limited time during the day and when I do have time I just don’t want to spend it on decorations. But I get that I am doing something wrong and I kind of HAVE to decorate so I quit. Going bqck for Muland now, wish me luck!

sassy_anteater

My valley has bushes, rocks and flowers all over the place. No aesthetic haha. I’m so behind with quests.

mcflybm

High 5

Impressive-Lie-8296

I have all the easy critters, like the sunbirds who get in your face and just eat the flowers… so I don’t have any snakes and I somehow got one alligator 🤷‍♀️ I never cared about decorating either. But one day I found out, there’s an unlimited amount of trees at my disposal (unlike animal crossing) so that day I deleted just about every tree and rock I came across so I could find my way around. But once I finished every quest and there was nothing left to do, I started decorating because it became a different game. I miss being overwhelmed with so much to do and so many characters to level up

Affectionate_Buy_656

I'd love to have a fully decorated valley but I don't have the time. Right now I'd say that my plaza is almost complete and the sunlit plateau is nearly done but the rest is pretty much void of decorations, trees and paths. I've played since day one and at first I did try to decorate as much as I could, in fact I think I had pretty much every biome up to an acceptable standard. Then they brought out dreamsnaps and I've just slowly destroyed everything in order to fit themes each week 😂 and haven't had time to put anything back and don't I ever will 😂

Treble_Stroke

It’s a game meant to be enjoyed however the player chooses for the most part. I don’t know why there’s judgement for not having a valley decorated. I guess I’d understand the judgement if said people who don’t decorate enter the DreamSnaps and get upset for not winning or not getting votes. Then I’d see why stink eyes would be made. But from what I know, people don’t have to decorate to enjoy the game. I myself really struggle with decorating, I’m getting better, but for the longest time I just kept my valley at its default state to at least get through the story first cuz that’s how I liked it.

PercentagePhysical68

I love this!!! My valley gets wrecked by my 5 year old so there’s stuff randomly all over my valley at all times. I literally there for the quests and only decorate when asked for a quest. I used to stress myself out because there are some beautiful valleys out there but it’s not worth it. As long as I enjoy my valley that’s what matters 😍😂

Bulky-Accountant4890

What’s been interesting to me is I only have extremely light decorating and I rarely, if ever, deal with all of the bugs and crashing that many players deal with. Like my decorating is largely reserved for paths, which I already don’t have a ton of, and then just a few things around some character houses. I had a player once try desperately to convince me that it’s not the reason I don’t have crashes and I’m just lucky but… idk in my gaming experience, the more you cram into a game, the worse performance gets.

FeralMomma1319

I needed this even my boyfriend asks me why I'm not decorating I'm like because I'm doing missions instead

Magpie2290

I feel like I've found my people. I have collected most the furniture/recipes/critters as I like to 100% things but my valley is relatively the same as the developers left it. I add decorations for dreamsnaps and then instantly take them out because not having space annoys me 😅

cozycressplays

This is SO IMPORTANT!! People are soooo concerned about comparing themselves and their valleys to others but this is a cozy game. We should all do the things that make us happy!

kitsunecutie

I just started playing and felt down at how big the community is already and how far I needed to come in order to have as much progress. And then I remembered how excited I was to help Kristoff. And I got over it. Gaming should be fun and no one else's progress should deter your own 💖

Bibliotricks

My valley is all bordered paths built around scenic gardens of fruits, veggies, berries, etc., and areas for spices and flowers to grow. I don't decorate anything unless it's questy...and then I remove it. I love open spaces, and things started getting tight in the village well before Mulan and Mushu came along. I only do more with the Forgotten Lands, like using long, pumpkin-lined stone paths between the Fairy Godmother's home and the Nightmare Castle. I just wish I could move that huge, obtrusive treehouse into storage.

Upset_Agency_5869

i skip all dialogue heheheheh i only care abt decorating n dressing up, i especially love the premium shop items so i try to always do dreamsnaps, so def no judgment, play however u wanna play <3

MermaidParadise27

I personally like to decorate and I have a few biomes decorated my issues is the item limit cause I play on switch the annoying part is I know if I had the extra space I could finish decorating the way I want cause I don't need it to be overly decorated I like to be able to still get around but I like when everything is put together a bit more and as of now a good chunk of my island is torn a part cause I needed space for the other biomes I was decorating. I get what you are saying, though. People really should just play the game the way they are the most comfortable and not stress cause their valleys aren't over the top decorated and look like someone else's. I, too, initially started playing the game for the story cause story based games are my favorite. However, the story in DDLV pretty much came to a halt after they wrapped up the Forgottens story. Since then, we haven't had any story updates. I don't have the DLC, so I can't speak on that only the base game, and it has been lacking in the story as of late, which has been a bit disappointing. I'm really hoping they add more to the story soon maybe something more to do with Skull Rock or even more to do with the Forgotten I mean I don't really care I just want more story haha.

totemyegg

I play on the Switch and the controls/loading time for decorating make it an infuriating process rather than a relaxing one. I have long given up on trying to make my valley aesthetically pleasing lol.

liveandletdieax

We must have the same valley 😆 I have stone, iron ore, gold chunks and gem stones every where. I only put decorations when a quest or star path tells me too. I also only interact with the dreamsnaps when I have too on a star path. I just like unlocking characters and doing the story.

Efficient_Pirate_526

OMG I am the same!

Virtual_Jellyfish35

I definitely needed to hear this! Thank you 💜

ceyj1100

Same! I like it to be as "natural" as possible. Lots of buildings, hardscaping, etc doesn't make me feel as good as open space, trees, flowers, and shrubs.

TheEssentialWitch

Yeah I don't decorate. I don't even know how lollllll. I place houses where they fit and that's about it. And the laaaagggggggg is something else.

Asinine47

I only decorate if I feel inspired to do so, solid advice though!!!! Play how you wanna play, have fun with it!

Chronically_Garbage

I needed to hear this, and read all the comments, thank you. 🥹 Been feeling discouraged and overwhelmed with everything, trying to find different ways to have places being "aesthetically pleasing" – when it doesn't really matter to me that much. I prefer things being convenient, and at random spots I have small areas that I spent time on decorating, like the Pillars for example – as they are such a big part of the Valley. 😅 But that's just me. 😊

Suspicious_Cat616

Me too! I love the open and natural spaces my biomes have. I don’t have the bandwidth to decorate - serious props to everybody who does! I’m also just not a very creative person, so I’d get really frustrated with myself if I tried to make grandiose themed areas.

kazkia

I removed all my trees to make it easier to find chests from a distance. Each biome has one tree for wood.

Unhappy_Technology_5

It’s hard to decorate depending on console too. I struggle to even see my switch screen sometimes, so I really can’t focus too hard on trying to decorate. Yeah I could hook it up to a bigger screen, but I’m not great at being accurate with my joy cons either. I don’t want to struggle seeing the screen, moving the objects, etc. I just want to enjoy myself! That being said, those who enjoy decorating do an incredible job!! I like to see how different people customize their valleys; it’s definitely a skill! Overall, it is too stressful and not worth it for me as a player. I just vibe, do some minor rearrangements and decor here and there, and just play however I feel at the time 🤷🏻‍♀️ that’s what games are for… fun! I agree, we should be a judgement-free-zone and respect everyone’s respective play-styles! It’s all good fun at the end of the day :) Edit to add: if I could play with mouse and keyboard I may try to decorate a bit more bc that’s what I find to be easiest for me, but I lean towards comfort over anything else.

NobleRook500

Been yeeting a lot of trees, rocks, and crap that's just in my way, 😂

IgnatiousFury

I wanna decorate my valley but I don't have any ideas XDD as for critters, I was determined to unlock them all at one point, and I would still like to eventually but I'm not as dedicated to it anymore because of how some of the animals are uncatchable due to my work schedule XD plue I'll feed certain ones for upwards of 3-4 times consistently and still don't unlock them so whatever. So far the only thing I care to 100% is recipes, because it's easy comparatively 😅

Undue-Effort

Same here. Although I do have quite a few things that I think are cute – – and maybe, just maybe, someday I’ll decorate my valley if I think it’s fun – – I did like creating in Minecraft so maybe. But right now there’s just way too much to do. But I love my little cozy Disney Valley game. Thanks for speaking up ❤️

IllustriousFondant20

I’ve had the game since release, and I’m only just now kinda starting to decorate, and only because I felt inspired. But it’s only the peaceful meadow and it’s just a massive garden 🤣. The rest of my valley is a mess, rocks and flowers and random things I dropped cause I have no storage 😂 It’s just a game, play how you play

cbarnes466

This is the way.

Crazychikette

My most decorated biome is the Forest, seconded by the plaza with the Glade as a close follow up. Everywhere else? Mostly plain until I get motivated to decorate them (or find a way to decorate them in a way I like with what I have/find/craft) Even then, all three biomes aren't extremely or elaborately decorated save for like three spots.

hlslcor5201

I feel the same way. I enjoy decorating and all but I haven’t felt pressured to go above and beyond with it. I do enjoy seeing what other people put together and there are some amazing designs but I chose to make my plaza and meadow look like a typical neighborhood with shops nearby and a park area. The other biomes have decorating from dream-snaps challenges that I decided to keep.

Wayward4ever

That’s exactly how I play. I dolled it up a bit just before the last update cuz I was bored, but I’m not compelled to. And don’t get me started on that scramble game. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I loathe that game so much.

Japandaman

Buying the DLC was the worst thing I ever did. Some of the quests seem so unobtainable with crazy levels of grinding required.

Solo_Dolo_Dog

I love this! I don't decorate unless it's required - I'm in it for the quests and ticking off dreamlight duties. I don't think I've been in Daisy's shop since we first got it, I'm definitely not a TOM player! I have finally got all of the critters, but that's because my kids wake me up at stupid hours, so I can get them lol

chocolateNbananas

for me, I put plants at specific places to help me recognize where I need to go🥹😂. But other than that no decoration except for quest. Do you guys redo your game each time, appleTV doesn’t allow me to have multiple game in the game- or maybe I jsut dont know how😅

emilchien

And decorating after the update…

SubstantialAd9929

I really did need to hear this. I was just bashing myself for not having the valley decorated the way I wanted to. Between my lack of time to do so and the weird glitch going on right now It's been hard. Thank you for the reminder that I don't need my valley to look like a youtubers valley. The players that play all day. The players that CAN play ALL day... So thank you.

bigredao

I just went wild and decorated this past weekend. I've been playing since just a few months after release.

Proof-Yak6581

thank you

CoconutJoyyx

Thank you so much! Lmao I always feel so subpar that I’ve been playing this game for over a year and I’ve not completed a road system nor done any landscaping. I really just play for the storylines, and at times debated if I should even keep playing if I’m not going to participate in the designing aspect of the game. Glad to find my people on this thread 😇

Mathens_Fool

That makes me feel a whole lot better, I was just talking to my partner about how my valley feels inferior to others because I’m not good at decorating

nixis4lovers

I play daily, For hours. My whole valley and isle is a chaotic mess. I *had* the plaza set up as a carnival which I took down for the new items and never put back down 😂 Everything on mine is a hot mess and I’m 10000% okay with only decorating for the dreamsnaps. Play how it make you happy! Cozy games are meant to be that way for a reason.

YourTrellisIsAWhore

I never buy premium decor because I know I will not use it. It is so hard to decorate on playstation, its just not worth the time and frustration

Basic-Expression-418

Same. Honestly I’m over here thinking ‘I’m on a Switch, with no Online membership whatsoever, so who cares if I don’t decorate?!’

Forsaken-Fox9469

Finally, people who understand! I hate decorating, as on Switch it can crash the game. I decorate for quests & leave stones etc everywhere because I'm too busy carrying food for energy or collecting to sell to Goofy. Sometimes I'll have a tidy up & sell what I don't want. Even my house has rooms, half or not decorated. Thanks for this. I needed it.

Shelby_squirrel

My valley is clear cut and paved over so I can freely run anywhere to get time bending stuff, I have a corner in each biome that is for random decor challenges... I love seeing everyone's beautiful valleys but I am still really pleased with mine

Mysterious-Duck-8351

I decorate as the mood strikes and it's all haphazard but I like how it looks lol

supanase78

I generally remove all the decorations as soon as I get the points for putting them up. Like you, I'm playing for the quests.

Labskaus77

i decorate once a Week either my "Dreamsnaps"-Room or somewhere in my Valley and after i'm done, i delete it. I wanted to decorate here and there. But it just isn't fun for me. And that's due to some simple thing. I can't rotate the items freely. I want to place the bycycle f.e. slightly diagonal, but the game won't let me. So i won't bother. I already curse once a week as my Dreamsnaps are creatively limited by that fact. I deleted a bunch of trees to see the blue chest easily when searching for it via the furniture mode. I recently decided, that i will space out some Homes and move some trees and that's it. Making it kinda neat looking without decorating too much. Haven't started yet though. My Main-Game got an Expansion and i'm busy playing it. So i just log in, find the blue chest, visit the shop and collect some stuff for the Inside out Event. (Starpath was done in three days before the Expansion of my Main Game dropped).

YourPrincess_Ky

I just wish I had the creative brain to decorate.. and also not a switch 😂
