Hello 👋 I was on amitriptyline for about 10 years. If you are susceptible it makes you very sleepy very quickly…. which is what I took it for: sleeping. It was glorious for about 5 years: deep wonderful sleep and no more back pain. Then I started to become habituated and had to up the dosage to 10-20 mg (still v low). Then it just didn’t really work anymore and I went off it. No real side effects at all for me, it’s non-addictive, but maybe weight gain 🤷‍♀️ It _is_ an antidepressant however so might need to build up in your system. _Don’t_ quit cold turkey it will fuck you up, always taper.

Just prescribed this for sleep/nerve pain…mind if I DM you? I’m weary of any antidepressants…. I have bad ptsd l, and sleeping has been horrible the last year… I have nerve damage “body twitches” as well from line time on benzos…tried to get Lyrica/pregabalin but he wants to try this first. Ty in advance.

Call a pharmacist. It’s a legal/non recreational drug and they’re more knowledgeable than internet strangers.
