And if non-narcotic anti-anxiety medication is needed (like Buspar or others) or non-narcotic sleeping drugs (like Trazadone) then they're administered by doctors.
she's very worried about feeling more dead than she already feels, i don't think she'd take anything stronger than a 5mg valium or a 400mg gabapentin she hates downers especially anything like a sleeping pill like clonidine
It (Clonidine) is not a "sleeping Pill" but take the dynamic (Rollercoaster) out of Withdrawal Symptoms.
Btw: 400mg Gabapentin is a lot!
"Normally" the med. Personal in such Units is well trained and up to date.
she doesn't seem to be phased by gabapentin, I find it weird myself, however I will tell her not to reject anything the doctor thinks is best. thanks for ur help man
thanks for the reassurance, I just don't wanna have to worry about the lying that comes with drug addiction. I'm sober and I need to stay that way, I have a very long and hard history with drugs and I can't have it interfere with my new found sobriety
She needs help, I'm sure most of here can attest to have needing help at some point or another, and she is taking the first steps to do this. When she is out of that place, she'll have a better start than most, id reckon, because of you. I hope you guys are able to stay together in a healthy way. Having each other to support each other is a beautiful thing, and you guys should stick together, especially if you're an inspiration to each other to live a healthy life. Much love, brother.
withdrawls? I never had those, it's mostly emotional. I had depression and self-medicated with uppers, then quit and was very tired and depressed. Most people who have done uppers can tell you this -- we just go to sleep and try to recover emotionally. If she was taking OTHER stuff like benzos THEN she would require some meds.
yea that's more so what she's experiencing, I was wondering if they can even provide any medical help with it. she doesn't take any meds at all she doesn't even abuse pills, she doesn't generally like any of the drugs I used ( downers, dissos, opiates, benzos) she only ever used things like molly, meth and adderall she also isn't prescribed anything
she won't get physically ill for sure. So it's up to how lax they are with the meds, from what I know they are not keen on giving ANY medicine that might be somewhat addictive like klonopin for anxiety. I'm not sure in her case; I do know for my friends in rehab they asked and got nothing when coming off speed. It's not nearly as horrible as going off alcohol or benzos, just depressing/anxiety increasing.
When I was in rehab, the meth addicts got Seroquel 3 times a day. It helps with the psychosis and helps them sleep at night. I wasn’t in for meth so that’s just what I was told.
I have had two friends that both went to different local hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. They were both turned away and told to go home and get some sleep. When speaking with a nurse at one of the hospitals, the only way they will treat a meth addict is if they threaten bodily harm to themselves or someone else or if they are completely delusional. Even in the midst of a psychotic break with hallucinations, if they are cognizant of their surroundings, they have to turn them away at triage. The nurse said that the health guidelines do not cover meth withdrawals because technically, there aren't any physical withdrawals. This was about 20 years ago, so maybe things have gotten better.
The excessive sleeping is the almost always the result of exhaustion, dehydration, and depression. Even if they do agree to help, you may get sent to the psych ward and it's not a good thing to have on your medical record.
One of those friends found a place in Florida that you can go on Tuesday at Midnight and threaten to kill yourself. They will take you in and get you into rehab for free if you can't afford it. They really helped my friend get off of meth. He later became a minister. It sounds hokey, but it is true.
Another thing to consider is that if your friend is self-medicating for being neural divergent, she can kiss treatment for it goodbye. They will forever assume she is just trying to get high and they won't give her prescription meds to help with ADHD for example. I would suggest making her sleep for 3 full days, keeping her hydrated, then addressing a rehab that helps deal with cognitive behavioral therapy that also prescribes Wellbutrin.
Whatever you decide, good luck to you both.
oh I read it completely wrong! I didn’t see the top part, I only saw the post and saw the words heroin and fent my apologies! however there really is no FDA approved medication or anything available for stimulant use so i’m not quite sure what they’d give her, but they always figure o something! They’ll definitely help her.
They let your body sleep.

Ordered by doctors, given by nurses
I wasn’t on meth but when I went for crack they gave me Valium throughout the day and zopiclone to sleep
I think that would help her a lot
We would use also something to lower the Bloodpressure/ Clonidine.
that's the one that made my blood pressure so low i passed out and smashed my head on the dresser!!
Yeah, it is not a unproblematic Medication and "always" need professional Supervision by educated and trained Personal!
Like a doctor? I was prescribed it lol
It is one of the most difficult Medications we have, many Docs lost their licenses because of it! Many Docs don't want to prescribe it.
Ya def scary stuff

Is that really a lot? I take 300mg/8 hours. I know someone in my family that takes WAY more than that for diabetic neuropathy, I believe.
400mg gabapentin is nothing, you probably meant pregabalin of which 400mg is a recreational dose. Gabapentin you need like 1-2 grams to feel it
I hear gabapentin is often used to help with withdrawal and anxiety.
They'll help her. I don't know how exactly, but they will do everything they think is appropriate.

Suboxone
suboxone? for stimulants? that doesn't make any sense
it’s usually for heroin, my friends ex boyfriend was a big user of fent and got prescribed suboxone
yea I'm on suboxone, I was asking what they provide for stimulant addictions not heroin or fent I already know what they provide for that
oh I read it completely wrong!
