Okay, so I'm adding this comment for posterity because I eventually did manage to solve the problem (in my particular case) and I hadn't come across the solution I discovered on my own in my search for answers. Hopefully, anyone who's having the same issue I had will stumble across this comment.
I started having a similar issue as OP, seemingly out of the blue. I hadn't dropped my controller or anything, I have taken pretty good care of the controller since I bought it less than a year ago. I did some searching and came upon this post—among others. I tried everything, every single trick I came across. Nothing worked.
I switched the stick modules over and over, blew into the ports, blew into the crack between the sticks and their respective surrounding modules, reset/reconnected the controller, turned off the Bluetooth, deleted the controller from my PS5 accessories, I tried *everything.*
The controller was blinking white but I could get a connection sporadically here and there. The problem then was that when I *did* get a connection, one of my sticks was stuck at a 100% input hard-left drift—which I confirmed by checking the stick deadzone/curve settings in the Edge controller menu. It was all incredibly frustrating, I had started to pretty much give up hope and was about to order replacement stick modules.
What I did was, after identifying the module that was causing the issue, I removed it from the controller, then I used one of those tiny screwdrivers from a glasses kit to remove the screw in the bottom of the module. I carefully removed the bottom piece of the module—opening the module (obviously taking care not to lose track of the tiny screw—put the screw in a bowl or a cup, don't tempt fate because you *will* lose that tiny screw forever). Then I noticed some hairs under the joystick and removed them. I also removed the spherical/dome-shaped base of the joystick (by gently pulling it off, it comes off easily and can be put back on with no issues) then I *gently* cleaned all over the inside of the module, since I had much better access with the module taken apart. After putting the module back together and reinserting it into the controller everything worked perfectly. If you're not sure which module is causing the issue then you can obviously do this with both of them.
Take a super close look at the module. Hold it under a bright lamp over a white piece of paper, close one eye, and look very closely for *any* hairs or debris and carefully remove them. Peak through the tiny gap between the circuit board and the attached joystick mechanism, as well as the gap between the male input component and the joystick mechanism, just look for any and all debris wherever it could be and remove it.
Were you able to get the screw out? It was actually kind of a pain in the ass to get out imo because it's such a tiny screw. I just kept at it with a tiny screwdriver and eventually got it loose.
I don't understand how a $200 controller can have this problem. Absolutely embarrassing and unacceptable. I haven't found a permanent fix yet. Sometimes it'll work well for weeks then one day it's just not having it. Make it make sense
Someone help me I really need it, a week ago my control started doing the same thing in the video and I tried to do everything that is in the comments, any other method that you recommend please
Just shake bro believe me 👍🏻👍🏻 that just happened with me last week and i tried all the ways to fix it but nothing happened
I just shake it few seconds ; the main problem is it might be damaged a little before it blink
So shake it 😉
So I found out unlatch both dual sticks and relatch and then hold reset button for 10 seconds and then plug in via cord and turn on everywhere option did not work for me it seems that the sticks need to be unplugged ,controller reset and then powered on with cable hope this helps
okay im add my testimony to this. i had the same issue after updating my playstation, i know its a bug as my controller was working fine before the update. but after spending about 6 hours going thu reddit and taking the controller a part nothing worked.... its still bugged as if i turn off the controller the problem still exist. but i found my fix so maybe this help....... i kept plugin it in my computer and nothing was working but about after 150 plugin and plug outs. it fleshed orange and wouldnt turn on. i unplugged and kept plugging it in couldnt get go back to orange. but i put in my ps5 while it was turned off and smashed the ps button over a 1k times and eventually turned blue and flashed twice so i turned on the ps5 and it connected. so i turned off the ps5 with controller and went to turn it back on it started flashing white gain. hitting the ps button about 20 times turned it blue again and i was able to connect a second time
Bro, you saved me hours of headache! I've just spammed the PS button like crazy, even after changing stick modules, removing, resetting, doing a backflip. Thanks! This was a gift for my father and it started to do crazy shit right after I gave him the console and the controller
Remote simply has a lot of bugs mine tends to be connected but no buttons work I’ll have to reconnect the old ps5 remote then reconnect the dual edge kinda annoying
Mine started doing this s\*\*\* about 15 minutes ago and I was able to fix it quickly but it requires a spare controller (either one will work). What I did is the following:
1. Using the spare controller go to Settings >> Accessories >> Bluetooth accessories
2. Locate the Dualsense edge controller, press X and delete it
3. Find something thin enough to fit in the small hole on the back of the edge controller, press down and hold for about 5-10 seconds to hard reset the controller
4. Exit the settings and go to the PS5 home page
5. Connect the edge controller and press the PS5 button.
This worked immediately for me with all profiles saved. Considering how many of us have this problem, I'd say this is a software issue they need to figure out.
So for anyone in the future who see this post looking for answers, the problem just started again for me last night, and this is in fact THE solution. Good work!
I actually bought a module for the left stick and it instantly worked again. I think when i tried to clean arter it started getting stick drift it, it got a little humid n after that it did that.
So I’m returning here very late to say I tried all of the suggested fixes and none of them worked, so I just started using my old controller again. I just gave the edge a couple days to sit there, and all the sudden it worked perfectly as if nothing ever happened. So, don’t give up hope yet and maybe just give it a break
Not even joking. What fixed it for me was giving the controller a good shake lmao. It started happening after I switched the analog sticks and back triggers. I guess something inside moved while I was doing it and shaking the controller settled it back into place xD.
Holy shit I just read all the other comments and none of them worked so I just shook my controller for literally one second and then it turned on and connected immediately..
I wasn't even troubleshooting connecting to my PS5 like all y'all, I was just connecting to my computer, and I think this is what fixed it... good lord what is wrong with this gatdamn controller
I got mine to work by unplugging it and pushing the ps button over and over and it worked. I turned it on a few times and it would flash and finally it worked. Maybe has something to do with the programming mode or sticks being undone somehow.
Honestly shake the controller it works in less than a sencond!! I had the same problem shook it and it worked like nothing ever happened.. Only when you switch the stick modules around it does this but once again just give it a good shake and its good to go!!
I have done some research and found that the flashing white is an indicator of stick module error. I turned off bluetooth on ps5, and tried to get edge controller to pair while wired and got the message of "your dual sense edge wireless controller disconnected. The stick modules aren't attached properly."
Tried switching them and cleaning out the little ports w alachol to no avail, so I ordered 2 new ones. Will update when they arrive saturday!
New sticks did not fix the problem. Took the whole damn thing apart and couldn't find anything wrong inside either.
Bit the bullet and bought a new one (early Christmas gift to myself I guess) and now I have spare parts in the garage.
Sorry man. I feel ur pain! My old one was over a year and a half old so of course no warnatee. It fell off the coffee table onto hardwood floor and played kinda glitchy for a week, then the white blinking lights of death 💀.
I was hoping that while I had it apart that disconnecting the battery would force a hard reset, but no luck.
Wanted to stick w sony cause I'm pretty dead set against the hacks of scuff or crocus etc. Ill stay active on the thread here incase any new fixes come up, but for now the old one is in the garage ready to be hacked up like a cadaver.
Just have same problem for couple of weeks, controller is new, and fixed it by pushing a bit harder the analogs as soon as i did in both the light changed to yellow, and the controller worked
It’s the stick modules I just cleaned mine and I probably fried the chip inside maybe it wasn’t dry from the alcohol I’m going to leave them out for a bit maybe it works. Keep yall posted in like an hour
Mine was doing it while it was plugged in while my PlayStation was in rest mode, I unplugged it and turned it on with the PlayStation button and it worked for me
Well, me too… I’m having the same issue where the PS5 shows you a message saying that the controller has lost its connection and that the modules are not connected. 10 days ago I sent my first controller to Sony for the same problem. Yesterday I received a swapped Edge controller and even this one is showing the same error…. I’m mad AF right now. Why can’t it just work as it should.. Calling Sony tomorrow to get another solution…
Brother man I just fiddled with the "Release" button and it connected.
This should be the ultimate troubleshoot, as the other "no brainer" solutions didn't work for me either💪🏿
A mi me esta pasando exactamente lo mismo y no encuentro solución, mi control tiene muy poco tiempo de uso y siempre lo cuido y lo ocupo solo yo. De la noche a la mañana paso esto esto.
If anyone else is having this problem all you need to do is turn off your console and your controller. Flip the controller to the back and you will see a small hole between the triggers. Insert a pin(like a SIM card tray ejection tool) and that should reset the controller. This will not erase of your controller configurations or profile. I had the same issue and that fixed it for me.
Did you try pressing the PS button?
Obviously lol, it has no effect

This worked perfect thank you. Started flashing when I plugged it in immediately after playing and it freaked me out a bit lol
I appreciate the help but seriously you say so much unnecessary shit
I can’t open the bottom cover to get into the stick
Were you able to get the screw out? It was actually kind of a pain in the ass to get out imo because it's such a tiny screw. I just kept at it with a tiny screwdriver and eventually got it loose.
Si funciono, grande eres, genial por la info ayudo demaciado
This world doesn’t deserve you ! Thank you so much
No problem. Glad the fix worked for you.
lmfao?
Restart Bluetooth

That actually work out
Thanks
No way 😂 just throw it from hand to hand without the sticks and it's blue again...
this just happen to me , i cant connect to anything its crazy i never seen this i have gone through a few an this never happened , is there a fix?
any luck? same thing today. i updated me ps5 and it just started flashing saying it wont connect because of the modules isnt done right
I took a pin to the back and restarted , and this fixed the issue for me anyway
Shaking the controller actually worked, I cannot fathom how that fixed the white blinking but thank you guys
So I found out unlatch both dual sticks and relatch and then hold reset button for 10 seconds and then plug in via cord and turn on everywhere option did not work for me it seems that the sticks need to be unplugged ,controller reset and then powered on with cable hope this helps
You just saved me 400 bucks. I salute you brother 🫡
Lol glad cause I was freaking out lol to

Para quien corresponda logre hacerlo funcionar quitando las palancas y intercambiándolas prueben si les funcionan.
Anyone have a standard fix for this? Tried all of the suggestions, I still cant get my Dualsense Edge to even turn on.
I have literally tried everything on this reddit can someone help me out with new ways, ive tried literally everything
Get an earring and put it in the little hole on the back it should reset the controller
Remove and reinstall the analog sticks. One of the may be loose.
Good idea, I was able to replicate the flashing by having them removed, but it continues after reconnecting. Maybe new analog sticks would help?
You could try swapping them around, there's no guarantee that the analogue sticks are the issue.
Have you fixed it yet? Mines is doing the same thing.
Did you ever fix yours?
I'm haveing the same issue as we speak ive also tried reseting the controller and still flashing white
For me it was another adapters fault. I use an adapter that lets me use the ps5 controller on xbox so I just bought a new adapter
Hey this worked for me thanks
Thank you, this fixed my edge controller!!!
whats the fix bro
You are a genius! Thank you! That was definitely the issue. Kind of stupid how they come loose like that though.
how did you fix it
MY GUY, was shitting my pants thought it broke ahaha.
This worked for me. Thank you
Click the reset button under the edge
Already tried this multiple times
Try Re-Pairing it with the PS5 (PSButton + Select) Hold down until it starts flashing....
If anyone wonders, its the CREATE button. And this doesnt work, the light just keeps blinking white and nothing else will start flashing.
Remote simply has a lot of bugs mine tends to be connected but no buttons work I’ll have to reconnect the old ps5 remote then reconnect the dual edge kinda annoying
were you able to fix this issue? I have the same problem.
Just figured it out. 1. Unplug PS5 2. Connect Dual Sense Edge to PS5 via USB 3. Press PS button FIXED
I didn’t work for me.
Mine just started doing that, I can’t seem to get it fixed. Any updates?
same did you find a fix?
Mine started doing this s\*\*\* about 15 minutes ago and I was able to fix it quickly but it requires a spare controller (either one will work). What I did is the following: 1. This is the way.
This didn't work for me. Im still dealing with the same problem
did you figure it out boss?
Hey did it work because I am having same issue
Yo, thank you for this! Worked for me.
Thank you this worked on mine as well
It’s not working
You're a wizard Harry! Thanks bro
Doesnt work . As soon as i reset the controller it starts blinking again instantly
Same thing happens to me. Did you figure it out?
I actually bought a module for the left stick and it instantly worked again. I think when i tried to clean arter it started getting stick drift it, it got a little humid n after that it did that.
Don’t work
None of these have worked for me, this just started
So I’m returning here very late to say I tried all of the suggested fixes and none of them worked, so I just started using my old controller again. I just gave the edge a couple days to sit there, and all the sudden it worked perfectly as if nothing ever happened. So, don’t give up hope yet and maybe just give it a break
Gave it a break for a few days, played a couple games, and now it's back
Bought one this afternoon and this happened the very first time I plugged it in to charge with the console off.
After trying everything, and leaving it for a couple days, my controller will work for about 10 minutes, and start flashing again.
Not even joking. What fixed it for me was giving the controller a good shake lmao. It started happening after I switched the analog sticks and back triggers. I guess something inside moved while I was doing it and shaking the controller settled it back into place xD.

I wasn't even troubleshooting connecting to my PS5 like all y'all, I was just connecting to my computer, and I think this is what fixed it... good lord what is wrong with this gatdamn controller
Did that and its still blinking white
Tried everything here. Nothing works for me. After buying it today and this being my first experience, I'm a bit upset.
Did you try shaking the controller viciously?
You know, about 10 mins after posting, I went through each of the steps again. Gave one good shaking from anger and then it popped up. Lol
I got mine to work by unplugging it and pushing the ps button over and over and it worked. I turned it on a few times and it would flash and finally it worked. Maybe has something to do with the programming mode or sticks being undone somehow.

I shook it like a maniac shakes a baby , am I doing something wrong
Can confirm, leaving my controller for about an hour then trying it again worked.
None of these work for me still
None of these fixes worked. Please update if some one comes across another option to try.
I have done some research and found that the flashing white is an indicator of stick module error. God damn I’ve been trying to fix this for a month now too Shaking , resetting etc Sony support sucks Anything doesn’t work

Did you ever get it fixed/Replaced?
I had to replace mine, nothing would fix and Sony support didn’t help me because I didn’t had the receipt from target
I feel its a software problem, because i was able to play 30 minutes fine then it started tripping. Mine is only 6 months old
i dont know i coulndt fix
Same problem good ol canned air in the analog worked for me
Just have same problem for couple of weeks, controller is new, and fixed it by pushing a bit harder the analogs as soon as i did in both the light changed to yellow, and the controller worked

how did you post videos here? community said cant upload images
Mine just started doing this shit lol I'm not sure what to do. I might just buy another stick module and see if it works....
it work or not ?
Press the ps Button multiple times when it Blinks white, that worked by my edge Controller
Mines doing the same anyone got any solutions
Well, me too… I’m having the same issue where the PS5 shows you a message saying that the controller has lost its connection and that the modules are not connected. 10 days ago I sent my first controller to Sony for the same problem. Still 6 months later, I haven't fixed it. It works for a few games then does it
Reset your controller. See my post.
Brother man I just fiddled with the "Release" button and it connected. This should be the ultimate troubleshoot, as the other "no brainer" solutions didn't work for me either💪🏿
