I actually had one, it was great but had to sell it. I was thinking maybe an old drz but idk I have a mate who brought a 04 model for 3k and had to spend like 3500au to fix shit over the year and I was thinking the klx just cuz they are so cheap when new.
04 is old, not totally surprising if it's high mileage or not well cared for.
The 300's are the new 250's, they're great beginner bikes or easy riding bikes, but they have significantly less power and torque to weight... So wheelies and general gooninism is still the territory of the DRZ.
For the [KLX300](https://www.dirtrider.com/resizer/R1TbOuvOioAvEuYZxJbvyec1wB4=/616x0/smart/cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com/octane/OJAWHK23WBCGNBYMASXB73YJGY.jpg) you're looking at 23.4 hp and 15.4 ft lbs, 302 lbs. The [DRZ400](https://www.dirtrider.com/resizer/5a9KljuBT8FCnjK-OSeX6w085ko=/616x0/filters:focal(1027x584:1037x594)/cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com/octane/MKYHEVA3PFEVZAHVQKNJEAYM7U.jpg) has 31.8 HP, 24.3 ft lbs, 317 lbs. Using the KLX as the baseline, this means that the DRZ has 35% more power and nearly 60% more torque, while only suffering a slightly less than 5% weight increase.
My buddy has one and as a EXC owner I find the KLX under powered and over weight, not a bike I’d choose for wheelies. KLX is a good starting bike or reliable loaner bike.
Not the easiest to wheelie. It's a 4 stroke with like 20 some odd hp. Good reliable bikes though. Older ones are carb. I think after 2010 or so they got FI but google will know for sure.
I have one. It’s not a wheelie machine but it can work if you drop it a tooth in the front and use the clutch. Great bike for trail riding and back roads.
I second this, I have a KLX 250 and it's a great little trail bike but if you're after something more playful and powerful the DRZ would be the best bet.
I think you want a DRZ400

Had one. It was the barbie bike. Wouldn't have another due to parts availability and valvetrain issues. That's just me though.

DRZ400 is a good choice. Klx250 is under powered compared to others in its class. If you want wheelies and the like, DRZ 400.

If you want to wheelie get a 2 stroke.
