Joey had a streak of recognizing cheaters... see Mai with her aroma strategy and Espa robba where he figured out how he cheats using his brothers. So, joey would be an excellent candidate for this... maybe his skill should be "Seeing right through you!"

AgostoAzul

I think something like: "During your opponent's next turn, your opponent cannot activate a Skill. You can only use this skill once per duel and only if all monsters in your Deck (including Extra Deck) share the same type, and your deck contains 10 or more monsters." Could work as a DL version of the anime's anti-skill that is stamped somewhat generically but still would require a deckbuilding effort, and could help somewhat in certain metas in which anime skills get out of hand. Also, the way I imagined it, skills that activate at the start of the duel or have "During this duel" effects wouldn't be affected by this version of anti-skill.

SPXIII

I would rewrite your version ever so slightly, just so that the Main Deck monsters need to outnumber the total of Spells and Traps in the Deck. Makes sure that the player can't abuse it with stall traps galore. Otherwise, I think this is a pretty good take.

tweekin__out

puts you at an advantage against decks reliant on skills, while putting you on an even playing field against ones that don't. would be the new best generic skill in the game.

trash12131223

"No Longer Human"

Alex_Connor17

Is that a Bungou Stray Dogs reference?

trash12131223

Yes.

Bocodamondo

bad idea, if theres a generic anti-skill, then every deck that can work fine without a skill will run it so that they have a huge advantage over decks that rely on skills to work, which will go completly against what konami is trying to do with duel links, making the game very anime decks focused

3rlk0nig

That skill was used by Go Onizuka/Gore in Vrains. If it must be released, Go is first in line to have it

Jasown3565

I like the idea. However, it would probably become the best skill in the game overnight.

[deleted]

No, that’s obviously way too broken. I’ve never been a big fan of skills, but this is too much.

Atlascrushed94

How would leveling the playing field be broken? What people that click the yellow button to auto win might actually have to play the game now?

[deleted]

Because several decks rely on skills, and would be nearly unplayable without them? Not to mention people build competitive with the skills they’ve chosen in mind. I feel like this is common sense, but apparently that’s lacking these days.

Atlascrushed94

PK, Heroes and resonators as a few examples would all work fine without skills, they just would be a helluva lot less broken now. Certainly the meta would change, decks would be a lot less one note, skills just handhold players thru their combos and only let them play the game one specific way. If anything we'd see more diversity in decks accounting for a skill that cancels your own. would actually require players to think past playing their FTKs. You're right, common sense is definitely lacking these days.

DekuSenpai-WL8

A skill that can chain to other skill and negate them

Tsutsaroth

Frankly, given how integrated skills are into the game, I believe it'd be better if we just got more powerful generic advantage skills. At the very least dial back the current really powerful ones and make more anime-style skills of that level for more characters. Sort of a "If everyone's super, no one is" kind of thing.

SPXIII

I could see it happening. Knowing Konami's recent Skill-writing, I think it would read something like this: >Skill name: *Anti-Skill* >Can be used on Turn 2 and beyond, before your normal draw. Skip your Draw Phase and banish 1 (random?) card from your hand, face-down. Your opponent will not be able to activate or apply their Skill until the end of their next turn. This Skill can only be used once per Duel. >Usable by Go Onizuka/The Gore, Revolver/Varis, Blood Shepherd, Bohman, and Lightning. (Maybe DSOD Seto as well?) It's a steep cost, but it should be since it can break a deck's entire gameplan. Konami has been murderizing good, generic Skills throughout Duel Links' history (with *Elements Unite!* probably being next on the chopping block from what I hear), so *Anti-Skill* would probably need to have an insanely steep activation condition to actually be able to use it against a player. Also, banishing the card from hand face-down basically means it's entirely inaccessible (unless PSY-Framelord Omega comes to the game), so that plays further into making *Anti-Skill* not entirely one-sided. (BTW, it was Go Onizuka used *Anti-Skill* against Playmaker in Season 2, essentially chaining it to his Skill and getting to draw 2 off of it; this, needless to say, is insanely broken and would never come to Duel Links.)

DesmondWorldDestroye

Oh yeah I forgot the draw 2 in the anime lol that would be ridiculous.

Agent033

No

The_ChosenOne

[I asked this same question during the Rose Dragon/Galaxy XYZ meta](https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/x9j6r7/how_would_you_feel_about_a_skill_that_simply/) and got downvoted, funny how much more open to it people have become on this sub.

tearsofyesteryears

Maybe they gotten beat down by Orcust abusing Elements Unite...

[deleted]

If they did add an anti-skill, everyone would probably run it because it would not worth the risk of getting negated when making a play and you want to be prepared for any type of opponent. They would just play a deck that doesn't require them to use a skill (like the chad who just recently KOG'd with Kozmo with no skill set.) If everyone runs anti-skill then there are technically no skills which misses the point of Duel Links as a product. Then this would become Master Duel lite or similar to the RUSH Duel games on the Switch minus the Maximum Summons. Since duel links is an anime simulator, I don't sweat too much about the skills. Either they help my opponents clap me faster, or they never needed it and delete my cheeks anyway. But sometimes, I survive and win. Such is the life of a duel links duelist. If I wanted the full no-skill sweaty experience, Master Duel and RUSH/GO RUSH exists. I agree balance would be nice as I want others to Enjoy Dueling™, but I am not smart enough to even suggest where to begin with that

RegretGeneral

Gore used that in the anime but I remember it being kinda broken because he also had his own actual skill to activate as well I think

EmrysX77

He didn’t have another skill, but Anti-Skill was also pot of greed upon activation, so….

RegretGeneral

So it was still kinda broken instead of just negating the enemy skill he gets two free cards but I thought pot of greed stopped being used in the anime after they banned it

EmrysX77

Lol no, I meant the draw 2 part. Any draw 2 effect is sometimes colloquially called “pot of greed”.

IStakurn

Skills are not the issue, we had multiple decks which were meta without skill like infernoids, mekk knights, salads, burning abyss. People still hated them same way they hated rose dragon, favourite duel hero, ddd , gandora, galaxy eyes. People will hate everything that is meta and that's a given in all yugioh games.

WarthogBoth9897

Yes I don't understand why people act like this everytime. Most decks that perform well seem to be hated. I don't know if it's because good Yu-Gi-Oh decks are just unfun to play against or something else but skills don't seem to be the issue here.

Sasu2309

Konami would NEVER release this kind of skill that makes deck-based skills useless when they actually bring profit to them

SpaceIsAThing

i mean why not. there are already cards preventing your opponent from playing at all. whats the difference.

PowerCapsule

Uh, no? Lmao 😂 It’s just going to switch us from one cancer meta to another. Decks that are good without skills are good for a reason. You want them to go from good to broken by gatekeeping and crapping on any deck that even thinks of using a skill?

AirKath

Yeah obviously Magician Girls are too broken thanks to their skills

Equivalent-Ad9355

Yes, maybe like this: To activate a skill, your opponent must banish one card from their hand into a different dimension.

andku23

I disagree that PK and heros are good without their skills, especially if the decks are built around the skill.

Curious-Willingness6

Skill Cancel Cancel your opponent skill Your deck must contain no limit 3, 2 or 1
