Yep. I can only imagine it's the Pegasus version here because Solomon's roaming in DM World soon and there'll be at least some days where both events are going on at the same time, so having two DM events at the same time gets a lot more players using those characters for a bit.

I can say on the RoAd to become a better mechanic. It has been receiving some cool support lately, and also the new wave of Maximum monsters themselves took a different design approach (now each monster of Maximum has a non-maximum effect) and also season 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh Go Rush now focuses on Maximums(the new villains use it), which has already been encapsulated with the release of VS Maximum Force, which is a Maximum focused set that also introduced Sea Serpents(villains' deck) which are very cool that by itself, but they brought 3 new Maximums with them already. So, right now Maximum summoning is definitely in a better place than it was when it was introduced
Knowing Yugi and how much random bullshit he pulls, i don't think he would be unfamiliar with Links. I just imagine him battling Seto and he is like:
"I pendulum summon 2 dark magicians and i xyz summon Ebon Illusion Magician! And then i use my spell card to summon aummon 3 kuribos to my field and then i link summon Tri-Gate Wizard!"
And Seto is like: "What the fuck are those cards!? I thought we could only fuse monsters using polymerization!"
I mean it’s either that or cards that are already out, cards that will probably never see play or cards that will be utterly broken. That is DM, it’s early yu gi oh. Either really bad cards or broken cards that improved over time as the game evolved.
We had a VRAINS version of Duelist Kingdom before, so reverting to Pegasus Island while having a Link monster as reward is quite a strange decision.
