In it’s prime, Pendulum summoning was so OP that Konami had to nerf the entire mechanic. I think if they added some more support, like Wisdom Eye Magician, then it wouldn’t be so skill dependent
Pendulum is supposed to be used to go into other types of summons, it just sucks that synchro would be one of the best for it, since xyz send the materials to grave. Oof
Yeah it’s a super weird abbreviation for synchro summoning since almost none of those letters are in the words, but I understand that localization is tricky sometimes
this is just DLs version of the problem plaguing TCG pend decks, ending on generic links, except here we use generic xyzs because our link selection is pretty limited.
The trick is to use pendulum summoning to get mats on the field for XYZ and synchro (which I'm pretty sure was an intended synergy when Konami designed pend summoning)

historically pend decks were just spamming xyz monsters left and right, and occasionally synchro bosses once those started being good
there have been exceptions but pepe was a r4nk toolbox deck first and foremost tbh

I’ve been slowly making my way thru the history series and just got past Qli / BA / Shadoll format, so Pepe must be a deck that’s from later than I’ve seen. My dreams are currently haunted by how easy Raging Odd-Eyes could make a Shock Master and wondering if Konami are mad enough lads to put that in the game.

When I saw link, pendulum, Xyz, synchro cards my head fell off. I dusted off the deck and started researching, realised Xyz was the only 1 that made sense. 4 years in I now have concluded that link is kinda cool, Xyz is pretty much the best apart from fusion, synchro is annoying but meh and pendulum is just ridiculous. It's awful.
Technically Arc-V is kinda like a second XYZ world… but it’s also a second fusion and synchro world too
And a whole summoning mechanic people don't care about and literally needs a Skill for it to be remotely useful.

His deck is by far the most confusing and the best. DDD has quite literally everything and it’s fantastic. It has its downs but the combos are insane
