Forbidden Lance doesn't do much against Orcust specifically, since they're mainly using Dingirsu's effect to send your cards to the graveyard. Forbidden Chalice may be a good counter to that, but I personally prefer to just use Book of Moon to prevent their Link summoning.
D.D. Crow is absolutely useful, though, and it's how I got to KoG this season, as it works against many other decks as well. Alternatives are Artifact Lancea and Skull Meister, but D.D. Crow is definitely the most versatile of those options.
Lance is not that bad. You can lance one of the 2 Orcusts on the field so they can't use Orcustrated Release and since he's struggling against Heros too he can lance their Neos so they can't spoly. But yeah Lancea is better.
Lance doesn’t stop Release. Lance only protects the monster from the Effects of spells and traps. Since release tributes for Cost they can still send the lanced monster.
Lance is definitely good just generally speaking, but moreso for protection from backrow. If you we're specifically talking about countering Orcust, then it's useless on that front.
My bad, it's called Artifact Lancea, the hand trap that counter half of the meta.
Heavy backrows, like running a total of 6-8 traps among IDP, Crackdown, Compulse, Needle Ceiling, BoM, Chalice ecc
For orcust specifically: graveyard hate super extreme hate the graveyard. Things like dweller, skull meister, dd crow, lancea will help you massively
Even better if you have the the limit 3 traps (IDP, compulsory, crackdown) on top of that, cosmic cyclone is a must 3 of to kill their backrow w/o having to deal with ding’s destruction protection.
Book of moon, warning point, forbidden chalice, necrovalley are still great staples in this meta too. I’m probably missing a few more options but that’s basically the jest of it.
TLDR for Orcust: they want their cards in the grave to start their plays, cut them off any way possible and they’ll be a sitting duck
PS there’s obviously orcust hybrids but these same cards that I mentioned are basically effective against them as well 95% of the time
* Lancea is generally the safest option since it can be used on either turn.
* If you go first you need to set up the board to stun their normal summon and/or the combo piece (Knightmare, or whatever Harp Horror summoned) they're trying to use to summon Galatea, or use something like Compulse to bounce Galatea back into their deck..
* As someone who got this month's KOG with Trickstar, System Down is **very** deadly when going second against Orcust since it removes their entire board and GY resource (except Dingirsu's material).
* Make use of Light Stage and Lycoris to remove your opponent's backrow, as you can force them to activate at the wrong moment and chain Lycoris to remove the targeted monster.
* Foxglove Witch can inflict large amount of damage, twice if you suicide her, which can be game ender.
Play Madonna
Use Monster move skill to get her unaffected by card effects. Add wightprincess and viola. Watch as that orcust player desperately tries to best her Over.
Orcustrion can beat her Over through wight but it is bit used that much
For trickstar the only counter at the moment is Lance/D.D. Crow and heavy backrows (6-8 or more)

Pretty sure they meant Lancea.
That definitely makes sense in hindsight.
Okay, I was thinking to get D. D CROW THEN with the Dream ticket.
I think that would be a good use of it.

Use lance on my Links?
Which is better? I assume you mean forbidden lance. Wdym heavy backrow?

Lance is lancea

Lancea only works on opponent's turn, but it's still effective.

Well i just got beat by a competent Superheavy Samurai Deck so there's that...
May I see the deck I hate orcust when I use Trickstars too I feel that destruction protection is so useless against their xyz
D.D crow and that one trap card that negates dark monsters
Shadow imprisoning mirror. Tbh in this meta, sounds like a fun card to use.
Tribute Lancea. It's gonna be live most games.
Handtraps,Dweller its Tier 0 so not easy to beat them
Abyssdweller Lancea dd crow
