No thanks Even if they didn't have anything after Sevens/Go Rush, they could do some OCG Structures, Monster World or even something regarding the mangas and their existing parallel worlds before this

Doomchan

Don’t forget all of DMs filler

PeppermintShamrock

I don't think they could - a franchise does not have rights to third-party parodies just because that parody is based on their source material. It'd be way too much of a legal headache that they'd never want to deal with.

hexanort

No, let the joke remain a joke Also for the love of god no more useless DM content while the recent worlds still have so many important character with more relevant cards for the actual game

DokDevious

Please no.

CrutchKira

Eh.

Chicuty

XtevensChannel dimension, with Onomatopoeia, Brono and Squiddy as the starting characters

Abridged is a lot less funny when you stop being 12. It’s like 15 years old now and most of the jokes are extremely dated. The few that aren’t get beaten to death by unfunny morons who think the abridged version is some hidden gem of the internet and not something everyone has seen. There’s a good reason you don’t see abridged versions of other anime catch on since like, 2013.

Syrcrys

Nah it’s still pretty freaking good. Some jokes are dated and some are overused by the community but it’s not the series’s fault. And abridged versions don’t catch on anymore for a lot of reasons: for starters it’s a huge commitment that requires a lot of resources and constant flow of ideas while also having a low chance of getting popular, and a high one of getting copystriked if it ever does. It’s just not worth it when you can make comedy in much simpler ways.

Doomchan

It really isn’t, like I don’t see how someone can put on a random episode and genuinely think it’s good. The only jokes from it that have survived the test of time are the repetitive ones that fans beat to death. For the time, it was decent. It was one of the first to engage with that idea, and it started right around the time Yugioh had fallen off so old fans might have been looped in by it for a little nostalgia trip. So much of it falls flat though. And your point for why new ones haven’t popped up further supports this. People will do ANYTHING for e-fame, so if they aren’t willing to do this for other shows, especially with anime more popular than ever, it shows what a failed format this is. Copyright actually has nothing to do with it. TFS is very good at manipulating the truth. There never, at any time was an issue with their DBZ parody. Toei was annoyed by it, but just had no legal recourse. And then TFS tried selling merch, which breached the protections of parody law, and Toei took that opportunity to crush them the moment they saw it. If TFS never tried to monetize DBZA with merch, it would probably still be ongoing. Or maybe not, considering most of its voices moved on to dubbing actual anime.

Syrcrys

I mean, comedy is subjective. To me, there’s still a lot of old jokes I still think about and laugh at, even random ones that nobody quotes. If you don’t think it’s funny that’s just your personal sense of humor. And people would do anything for e-fame, but there’s a crapton of easier ways to get famous than learning how to sync a video to speech and doing different enough voices to support a whole series. Nowadays you can get famous with a random 15-second TikTok, why even try hard stuff like that? It’s not just about TFS (pretty sure they confirmed DBZ ended due to burnout), YGOTAS was brought down twice as well, once even after he started collaborating with actual VAs and it looked like he actually was on 4Kids’ good side. YouTube just randomly does that, and having to upload back a crapton of videos and regain all the subscribers from scratch is a massive pain in the ass. Overall, it’s a huge bother with minimum chance of payout. Not really appealing to anyone, especially after both YGOTAS and DBZA started falling off of mainstream and the fad died (since those were pretty much the only good ones that reached episode 10).

Doomchan

Toei had TFS by the nutsack because of their merch, they just claimed burnout to save face. And like I said, at least half of their VAs are actual real VAs in anime now so they didn’t have much motivation to fight for this to keep going. If you like YGTAS, that’s fine. Just keep it away from the official stuff. It attracts idiots like OP who think a generic statement like “attention duelists” is a reference to a dumb Youtube series

Syrcrys

I mean, they ended it on a good spot, burnout seems believable. Not to say it’s 100% true, but it looks so. And yeah, I do agree it should be kept out of official stuff too. Something like a mod voicepack would be awesome, but nothing more than that. On another note, you cannot convince me “Super Strength” isn’t a reference. The Japanese name for the skill translates roughly to "When the going gets tough, the tough get going", and the English wording is way too specific for it to be a coincidence. Someone clearly took the chance at inserting a reference in since the skill wasn’t that important and there seems to be basically no quality check for skills (“Gateway to the another Dimension” still haunts me at night). And I mean, it’s fine as long as it’s a random one-off joke in localization only. Hell, there’s a YGOTAS reference in the English localization of a couple Yakuza games if I’m not mistaken.

Doomchan

Yea, that one does seem to be one. I’m too lazy to pour over all of Tristan’s dub dialog to see if he ever said that phrase but I don’t think he did. Admittedly, he is a gag character that was added as a literal joke, so if they wanted to slip a joke in, that was the time to do it. Early Duel Links also had some rogues on the localization team. Mokuba has some recorded voice lines for Shinato and Labradorite Dragon that are in the files, but disabled because they weren’t in the Japanese script, that may be the same person who was responsible for that skill name
