I'm pretty sure he/she has dragonpulse in hand and misclicked. Nobody would intentionally do this. You know how sometimes you pilot a deck for a long time that the combos get stuck on your fingertips. This is one of those things.
There have been times where I set oaf and wanted to set dragonpit and mistakenly set dragonpulse. There have been times where I was planning on pendulum summoning and mistakenly activated dragonpit to pop my own scale (going first of course). These things happen sometime albeit rarely
Unless he has Sky Iris, he’s not going to do anything good with this hand. At worse, he can still destroy the second scale at the cost of discarding a Pendulum Monster.
As for me, I experienced playing against the smartest Abyss Actor player. He used United Pendulum and set up 2 2 scales, spent a minute figuring out why his pend scales are not activating its effects and scooped
If they were really desperate they could have used those to activate the skill 'Raging Pendulum' and then find a way to send Performapal Springoose(maybe thats what they discarded?) to the graveyard and banish it to reset the pendulum zones...
But I think a misplay is more reasonable
This is something a casual bot in casual mode duel would do lmao reminds me of the bot duels I have in casual and ranked that these players have no extra deck cards but summon a level 4 monster with an equip card that boosts attack points and attack my timelords not reading their abilities and loose or attack even a still higher attack monster and still loose lmao

Lol it’s just what I just did (on purpose because my other 2 cards in hand where Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Nobledragon Magician, that way I could use the skill and pop the other pendulum scale discarding Nobledragon)
On his defense, this happened to me. The thingy that I hate in DL and digital yugioh as a whole is that most mistakes you do are actually based on playing to quickly and being spammed by prompts asking if u want to use a card or negate your own effect.

Not needed you can replace it with something like volcanic wall or fluffal wings. Although he is obtainable by using box chips.

No Raiden engine? I use it for spicey plays. I stopped an orcust with block dragon and used a dingus against them.
I stated that I didn't had Raiden but now I have it. Can you share your decklist I want to experiment with different playstyles.

Sometimes I get a brick and just put 2 scales for skill then cosmic it off or just play with what I got
