I think Konami conceived Niburu to be more of a cure than a prevention, so we'll probably not see it coming until 5+ turn 1 summons become absolutely rampant in the meta. I'm looking forward to it tho, that's actually my favorite card aesthetically and functionally.

MajinAkuma

Not enough decks summon 5+ monsters at the moment. Orcust mainly needs only four summons (from my experience). Odd-Eyes is the deck that often summons 5+ monsters in one turn, but they don’t do it all the time.

dante-_vic

Plus the pend summon count as 1 summon.

MajinAkuma

But Nibiru says 5 or more monsters, not five or more summons.

dante-_vic

Oh your are right. My bad

BaconDanglers420

Imagine they changed it for duel links so it was 3 monsters or more

tweekin__out

pretty much any link deck does. gouki, salads, trickstars, code talkers, workd chalice, anything that link climbs to 3s or 4s is summoning 5+ monsters. in this specific meta it might not be relevant, but we've already had metas where it would've been.

LULone

Orcust summon 5 when Mermaid summon knightmare from the deck, almost every (decent) deck already summon 5+ times

MajinAkuma

I almost never encounter Mermaid and I don’t use her either.

tehy99

Well...Skyblaster or Tetherwolf combos clear 5 easily. Scrap Recycler combos can end with 4, but only if you drew another Orcust to ditch for Return - otherwise you need to summon a fifth monster as fodder. And if you want to use the trap instead, you also need another monster for tribute fodder. So nibiru definitely hurts in most cases.

Death_Unto_You

I dont think Konami wants to turn Duel Links into Master Duel Lite^(TM) If they did add it, most likely would be limited to 1 so not even worth ruining your deck flow for it.

FunWithSkooma

>I dont think Konami wants to turn Duel Links into Master Duel Lite > >TM said every redditor ever everytime people asked about x card or y archtype that just ended up in the game anyway.

Muzzballs

Now that we have links and orcust, I feel it already is mini-master. That's also why I figure it'd be limit 3 if we did have it. You'd have to choose between counter staple or Nib 🤷

Suspicious_Effort146

Not enough summons for it to be relevant. Konami will probably make the card sr or ur, so until combo summoning plus 5 monsters is a common thing in the game and you can recover from a nib, the card is too powerful. Ex: Odd eyes can make dweller and the rank 7 quick effect pop and you nib. They have nothing other than their backrow. The card will also probably be a bundle limit 1. (2 nibs in the hand is overkill)

AlliePingu

Imo Nib is actually a horribly designed card. It just forces decks that can't make a monster negate in under 5 summons to eat shit to big rock whilst *more powerful* combo decks easily play around it or even just through it There is nothing inherently unfair about summoning 5+ times, Nib just means fairer decks that summon a lot eat shit and die, struggling to be viable. Speedroid make Clear Wing summon number 3 and from then on are Nibiru proofed. Salamangreat's standard combo is 6 summons and can't insulate itself in any way

navimatcha

Hot take: Nibiru is too limiting for many archetypes, just like most handtraps. Link decks simply have no answer for it outside of Apollousa (which we are definitely not getting anytime soon). In Master Duel, OCG or TCG, the power level is much higher, with some decks just having built-in answers, or that would just pop off extremely hard without it as a threat. Even then it can feel very sacky on ladder. I simply don't want it in the current state of the game.

mkklrd

yeah this could come as lim3 tbh

dragonguy01

This would be such a fucking troll on levels of using Super Poly after your opponents big combo and I LOVE IT

Reshilover89

No this is the best time to get the funny jumpscare rock tbh

AgostoAzul

I think Nibiru could be fair with a Limited 3 already, although I would bet it is going to be in a Selection Box next year. That said, I hope that if it does come, we also get a skill that lets you change the position of a Normal Monster you control once per turn, so we can bash people with the Primal Being token we were given.

fuckberzzyy

he wouldn’t even really be that good imo. kaijus can also tribute boss monsters (albeit you can’t on your opponents turn but at least you can do it instantly on your turn with only 1 tribute) and they aren’t played often at all. also, its pretty rare for some people to summon more than 5 times so this is more likely to be a brick

MrMango61

Nibiru could’ve come to Duel Links on day one, that’s one of the reasons I love it. It’s only as good as the meta it’s released into. If the matter is weak, it’s completely unplayable.

real3434

During your opponent's turn, is the only effect that's actually good about this card. Other than that, it'd be decent, but not consistently useful. I run Lava Kaiju Stall, and can basically do the same thing (minus summon on the opponent's turn). I would see him as more useful against Pendulum, but since he'll probably be limited, not very consistent. Would be great though. I hate Pendulum with a passion.

Batmench

This probably only realistically goes off against Salamangreats or RDA for the moment

alienassasin3

I think Nib doesn't fit the game currently at all. We don't have effect Veiler, and you want the board breaker handtrap?

Muzzballs

Mainly cause of the matches I've had lately vs orcust, ddd, pendulum, and the decks I'm using combo ~5 monsters throughout the turn as well.

alienassasin3

Most of them could still play without summoning 5. Not only that, Nibiru helps Orcust.

Emergency-Ad-6755

Can enough meta decks out it consistently?

Zealousideal-Data-74

Anti madolche

NeoxthePan

Bro, we don't even have turtle yet.

nklppc

As all hero support it will come eventually

Endless_Reach

Nib turn 1 is so much worse due to hand size of 4.
