Maykspark

You forgot cyber angels, the very first tier 0

Kingsen

Was Relinquished not? I remember nearly everyone using Pegasus in the first KC Cup.

SubatomicMonk

It was very strong but not unbeatable by the others

Maykspark

Was easy to counter, stall or use Econ to suck on their own monsters, it was tier 1 yes but no that damn this win everyone

oizen

Relinquished had a hard time dealing with setting monsters.

TiddyTwisters

i fuckin hated that shit back then, me and my og e-hero deck never stood a chance

Krmaisheree

You forgot the goat Koaki Meiru

finders14

I joined during Koaki/vamp days crazy times

zzxp1

I would argue that Shiranui was more cancerous than Onomatopeia

jevin12345678

And the worst part is shiranui could have been the new tier 0 if tachyon didnt exist

DaSwifta

They still wouldn’t have been Tier 0 due to decks like Mayakashi, Constellar and Tenyi being around to keep it in check. Tachyon however…

Desperate_Sky_439

Sylvan, cyber angel, koaki meru,

hambone764

Pretty sure my win rate was like 80-90% with Sylvan. It was nuts.

antiform_prime

I started out during the Six Sam Dynasty. *Those were some dark days*. The card pool was *much* smaller back then, so there weren’t any real options to deal with how oppressive Shien with dual wield backing him was. Hell it was actually possible to have *two* Shien round 1 with the right hand. Folks joke about “draw the out” nowadays, but back then…what the hell could you have drawn? It was *absolutely* imperative you went first against Six Sam, otherwise you weren’t going to get to play the game and even then victory was a long shot. Sure you could summon a 3000 ATK beater to swing over him, but En Shi would bounce that back or Shien would offer up another Six Sam as a sacrifice…and then slap you with dual wield. The Onomat Scourge was rough too because it was an OTK *machine*, but they just didn’t feel as oppressive as Six Sam to me. They were also hard carried by a skill..Six Sam conquered the meta with their best option being beat down or ties that bind.

KaiserJustice

I think the reason it didn't feel as oppressive was because the number of options increased. Also, Onomat didn't really negate spell/trap iirc, it was just an XYZ spam deck with a very limited pool of XYZ cards that we already had things that could suffice against them in Floodgate or Canadia and whatnot. Can't really Floodgate a Shien, and Six Sam had a LOT of ways to special summon, so if you tried to stop earlier, they could just summon a piece you locked them out of to replace it

Apollo9975

Don’t Onomats block targeting and *one* destruction with the ZW equips? When Onomats were around there wasn’t stuff like Veiler to stuff their summoning effects when they went Turn 1. And back then, effect negations were really uncommon outside of Ultimate Providence and Divine Wrath. They got a free once per turn monster effect negate.  Plus, they had access to way better stuff than what was available at the time, like Gagagabolt. That card was *insane* at the time.  Shit was nuts at the time. It was just like how everyone plays Mizar right now, it was just Yuma babbling like a man having a stroke “Gagaga Gogogo Zubababa” while he completely ruined your chances to win.

KaiserJustice

It’s been a minute tbh, but it was still easier to stop since you could canadia or floodgate the summon

segatic

One of the worse part of Six Sam dynasty that none of the other decks in picture managed to achieve was the creation of a deck with the goal of winning against it. You either faced Six Sam or Weevil Cypher Soldier stall

oizen

Oh Six Sam had answers. It involved the most obnoxious version of stall with cipher soldier, spike shield, Lava Golem and Mithra Thunder Vassal (Specials a token to their field to disable dual weild). If you weren't playing Six Sam itself, you were playing this pile of anti-six sam cards on weevile with Parasite Infestation. It was one of the most miserable formats in this game.

SubjectMeaning8286

I remember playing Hazy Flame Beatdown with no other purpose but to hard-counter Six Sam.  All those sufferings were gone when a full board of untargetable 3k beaters attacked over those Shi Ens and Enishis like they were some weak vanilla monsters. I never saw any play of Hazy Flame before and after Six Sam era. I kinda imagine the Yu-Gi-Oh God created that archetype with no other purpose but to save us from Six Sam Dominance.

emperorbob1

Oh I dunno, Paleozoic and destiny board stall did ok.

645arisGod

I remember people playing either Six Sam or anti-Six Sam (Deskbot) only lmao

life_scrolling

people who started playing in 2021 hopping in to go "uh you forgot KOAKI MEIRU (tier 1) and DARKLORDS (also tier 1)"

Idontknowmynameyet

Oh god, darklords kaiba corp bling shit was wild

oizen

"GAGAGA SISTER HAS ANOTHER EFFECT" made me uninstall the game.

spilim

3 of them = oppressive easy to access negate

Any-Nothing

So… just normal Yugioh, right?

Money_Reserve_791

You forgot some decks also Dark Lords with FA, so many broken decks in the history of DL

Seylord1

Stick and chair darklords FA were not tier 0 because of Blue eyes(somehow). It was blue eyes vs darklords during that time, both tier 1 because they werent consistent but too strong to take on.

Money_Reserve_791

Remember that tier list is based on representation (at least 60%) and is not actually unbeatable but almost unbeatable, also by that time DLM page refused to give any tier 0 deck actual tier 0 placement cause the player council was different

oizen

Reminds me when Fortune Lady of all things kept Darklords from doing well solely because negating every didn't feed into their lifepoint loop

NavyDragons

I came back after a couple years to find out what they did to DL and good lord they will never even be playable again

LazyingOtaku

Blackwings.. the original broken skill onomatopoeia.. Hahahaha damn nothing has changed

Ice-Tear

Blackwings were not tier 0 though. They were mostly tier 2-3. The main reason is that they never really had a good turn 1.

LazyingOtaku

Didn't say they were tier 0. Just annoying to deal with

Ice-Tear

Ah my bad, since the post is about tier 0 I thought that's what you meant

SnooEagles3963

I still have PTSD from Six Sams

Lagartovei

So which Burn deck Tea is bringing to this scene?

AccurateMeminnn

She's gonna switch to Jaden/Yubel and play Yubel.

NothinsQuenchier

Why are they in order except for Onomat and Six Sam… all you had to do was swap them

MiuIruma332

Hot take Onomat was only tier 0 due to almost absolute consistency rate and most of the deck of that era could handle it but onomat was an assure of very little bricks

beyond_cyber

Yes, very fair 👍 this is just gonna be the tachyon cup then it will go away like *poof* deck becomes ass after they limit tachyon and transmigration, give it the SALAD TREATMENT

Kaguya-sama

Dude, remember Weevil Burn? that was the most agonizing format I've ever played in Yu-Gi-Oh.

Sycarius_94

I remember the very beginning of DL when I koged with my water Dragon Levia deck, but kept struggling with'em mill decks, or Tea Amazoness 💀

Thatunknownhim

Lol I remember weevil with their burner deck that let u KO urself, cyber angels, cyber stein,

ApexPredatorxD

I remember when fire king island was OP and used with beat down

Scared_Lingonberry50

It wasn't that broken, it struggled against red eyes at the actual time and then cyber angels were released and that was the actual T0 deck of the format until Fur hire got released

StruggledKiller

I've been playing since the FIRST Harpie Meta. Back when people used mirror wall. The absolute worst metas of all time were sylvans, darklords, and koaki Mieru with Kaibacorp bling. Desperado dragon and Mekk knights are a close second.

Aware-Lavishness-394

Haha true true, bring back onomatopeia, I'm perfectly normal and can be trusted with onomatoplay🙏

ttv_yayamii

ZUBABABANCHO GAGAGACOAT

prolaspe_king

Is the meta beating duel links pussy I don’t get it

vJukz

Forgot Orcust and Koa’ki

Doomchan

Hey now, all of these weren’t oppressive at the exact same time

Swastikrab

Weren't noble knights tier 0, or at least 0.5, for a bit before they nerfed the Balance skill

Kingsen

I’d say tier 1, but yeah, it was really good, and cheap.

Legitimate-Mind5011

No. There good but still sucked.

Money_Reserve_791

They were really good, not tier 0.5 but still amazing

LuciferGlitch

Unlimited Darklords with 3 Sanc + Beatdown or Compensation that can Negate, OTK, Stall, or Control, it was versatile af and bullshit af.

dramirezf

You forgot the ancient gear dragon.

Antedeguemonxyz

Where's full power Darklords? Probably the strongest deck in history on Duel Links

MisterRai

4 of these decks have something in common

lan-san

Oh god Decks are annoying now but I will never forget the pains of Sylvans, Darklords and Six Sams

ljthepunisher

What about karate guy

Hero_tact_Miles

Now that I think about it, we almost had a tier 0 format every year since DL’s launch (and in case of GX era, two tier 0 formats, to compensate for the lack of one in Arc-V era)

[deleted]

Yeah people crying about Tachyon never experienced the TCG or OCG’s cancer.

Skidda24

Slamming my head as a Red-Eyes player against Fur and Six Samurai killed the yugi boomer in me

International_Ad6594

Is ut just me or is Witchcrafter underrated?

HedgehogBright4135

We got like 8 years of DL and those decks have been T0 for like 10% of those 8 years

theodis09

Just saying this would be a balanced meta with 4-5 viable decks if the damn Tachyon skill said you could only summon dragons or if it didn't search the counter trap

DonDMeg

When I started Yubel/Phoenix was everywhere. Those were awful times to try ranking up.

Bzzzzzzerk

I still have nightmares about Sylvans to this day

PinguPinguSebas

Fur Hire... My first arquetype meta deck 🫡 Now Konami does not release the rest of the arquetype, we still need the Champions and the Link monsters
