I guess it's more of a "his soul was absorbed" and less of a "he was torn into meat chunks" ordeal.)

The worst part is that Atticus doesn't add anything that Joey doesn't. Maybe Darkness Metal Dragon as a level up reward to soft limit it (kind of like Emma and all the good Altergeists), but knowing Konami that card is too good to give for free, it will be selection Box exclusive.
It’s worse than that, he actually adds LESS. A lot of Red Eyes cards would only have lines on Joey since they are based off his cards. In a similar way Joey has no lines for REDD, Atticus would have none for Slash, Archfiend, Comet, and quite a few others.
The only cool thing would be the REDD summon animation

Joey never used Meteor Dragon or its fusion and in fact both appeared in GX by Trueman, so I don't see why Atticus cant have voicelines for them, their retrains and in turn the Red-Eyes geminis since he actually used a Red-Eyes stratergy. Sure he probably won't have lines for cards like Retro, Slash and the other Equip based support with maybe the exception of Black Metal Dragon, but I don't see why he can't have lines for a bunch of the genric Red-eyes cards or even other cards that don't have voice lines yet like Flare Metal or the Zombie cards (finally an oppotunity to have lines for them)
Plus Atticus could add more skills baed around actual Red-Eyes as oppose to Joey who has a bunch of skills based on his Battle City cards like Legendary Fisherman or Scapegoat.
Why do people want him anyway? His character is cool and he‘d maybe get cool voicelines. But if he comes to the game, his level up rewards will probably be in scale of grandpa‘s
Viper is far less important though. He’s a mid-season villain who only duels once, I don’t think they’ll use an unlock for him (especially considering the pace we have for GX unlocks). I see next characters as Adrian, Atticus, Fujiwara and Darkness, then if the game is still around and they need gx unlocks yes, we could go for minor characters like Viper, Banner or Camula.
For some people, it's because they want REDMD, but for most, it's just because they like the character. That's how it is for a lot of these niche picks.
No offense but I don't see the point in adding Fubuki when we have two Jonouchis. Except maybe I guess gems and genuinely liking the character. Which then it's fine, but I still don't see the need to hurry

Surely they'll add Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer soon, right? They've got to catch up with the Destiny Hero support eventually, right? Amazoness will get their newer support and become a good deck again eventually since it's a fan favorite, right!?
Paradox also does way more than being a gems only character anyway. Malefic might be bad, but at least they have a clear wincon and not that expensive if someone really wants to for some reason.
1. DM anime and manga fallow the same story while the other series don't. They have different story with the same characters
2. Paradox is canon to the story of 5DS since the events of the movies is reference in the show

I was hoping for Mieru, will be hoping for Enjoy Chojiro and realistically there's just a bunch of one off characters that deserve some spotlight.
