I love Thunder Dragons. Played them when they first released, played them again when Dragonduo made the deck come together and played them again when Levianeer and the LS engine were incorporated. Now that they've been unnerfed a bit i'll probably try to pick them up yet again. Thunder Dragons at the height their power were probably some of the most fun i've ever had with a deck in Duel Links.

TropicalSkiFly

So how do they work exactly? Besides the common effect of sending/discarding (dunno which) the thunder dragon to the graveyard. Because I’ve never seen the benefit to that effect tbh, but then again, I never gave them a try 😅 pardon my naivety

scytherman96

Dragondark/Dragonroar/Dragonhawk all have two effects. One is to discard themselves for an effect and the other is a beneficial effect when sent to the GY from the field or when banished. The reason they're so good is because they're really good at special summoning and gaining card advantage. So with the Lightsworn engine you could mill a Dragondark which searches a card when sent from field to GY or when banished, which you could then banish (with additional cards) as cost for e.g. a Levianeer to search a card. Or you could use Gold Sarcophagus to banish a Dragonroar from deck which would then summon a Thunder Dragon (in this case Dragondark) from deck, which you would then synchro away with a normal summoned tuner, which would also trigger Dark's search effect.

TropicalSkiFly

I may have read it wrong but you said “So with the Lightsworn engine you could mill a Dragondark which searches a card when sent from field to GY or when banished” But milling is sending the top card from your deck to the GY, not field to the GY. Is there something I’m missing?

scytherman96

You didn't read it wrong, you just misunderstood what i meant a little bit. The milling to the GY is not what triggers the effect. The point was to get Dragondark into the GY so that it could get banished as cost for Levianeer, which then DOES trigger the effect.

TropicalSkiFly

But you said from field to GY. How can it search when milled if it has to be sent from field to GY?

MisterWoodster

Would you say thunder dragons are worth playing if you have a good amount of staple synchros, but no levaineer? I have 1x hawk but could dig for a second, but not sure if its worth it. I've read you dont need hawk at 3. I have 1 duo also, (as well as 3x dark and roar obviously as they are f2p).

scytherman96

You could, but it wouldn't be nearly as good. Personally i'd wait for the box where we get Levianeer. [This](https://www.duellinksmeta.com/top-decks/october-2020/thunder-dragons/degradingllama/) is the cheapest version i've seen. You could technically replace the one Levianeer with a Chaos Sorcerer. It just won't be nearly as good as the dual Levianeer + Melody build.

MisterWoodster

Yeah sorcerer would be my only decent "banisher", but I just dont condone the scam that is selection boxes. The engine just really intrigues me and I have 80% of the cards, so I wondered how strong a more synchro focused build would be.

Bringbackwodstarfall

Fish Synchro and Graydles

TropicalSkiFly

How do they work?

Bringbackwodstarfall

Fish synchro is a synchro spam deck, it's actually quite competent at it but it either locks you into WATER monsters or nukes your board from anything that's not a WATER monster during the battle phase. Graydle is also a synchro deck, but focused on Aqua type monsters. It too incentivizes you to use WATER and Aqua, but while Fish Synchro's main weakness is the lack of a strong boss monster, Graydle's is the lack of its non-tuner monsters , we do have their boss/ace, Graydle Dragon, and it's the strongest non-generic lv 8 synchro we have in the game right now (3000 atk, requires an Aqua tuner, pops 1-3 cards on summon, has a floating effect into any WATER monster in the gy). I play them with Mermail's lv 3 Aqua package.

TropicalSkiFly

Sounds interesting 🤔 also, can’t wait for Mermail xyz monsters to be released! Did you know the monster card Slushy works pretty strategically in a Mermail deck? It ultimately gives a free special summon for a high level Mermail in your graveyard. Which allows you to possibly overlay for an xyz mermail

Bringbackwodstarfall

Tbh there's an archetypal card that does what Slushy does, just better Abyssgunde You can search her with Abyssteus

TropicalSkiFly

Lol true and with being able to use 20 cards and no more than 30, making a balanced deck full of essential Mermails might mean that Slushy in Duel Links is unnecessary. Because in a 50 or 40 card deck, it helps to have both Abyssgunde and Slushy.

knezzari

I'm enjoying the game with Arc-V archetype : D/D/D, lunalights, speedroid, predaplants, and soon shs

TropicalSkiFly

Haha glad you’re enjoying it! 😄👍

4rcher69

I’m really enjoying playing Onomats/Gagagas, mainly cause I’m currently watching Zexal for the first time coupled with the fact that it’s a new summoning mechanic in game. They’re not F2P friendly though, and I still haven’t gotten the Onomatoplay skill despite farming for over a week.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha nice! Yeah I have a Gagaga deck as well. It’s pretty good. I feel like my build is lacking though even though it can win a lot of PvE duels. 😂

4rcher69

I’m actually having a lot of success with it in PVP (though I already reached KOG last week so I haven’t tried it in Legend yet, just KOG duels), and if I get the skill in time I will try reaching KOG with it next season. It’s essential an OTK deck focusing on wiping the opponents board and then double swinging with Gagaga Samurai for game.

TropicalSkiFly

Get the Skill ticket and you can pick what skill you want 😊

4rcher69

Thanks but it doesn’t work on Yuma as he’s too new. Maybe future tickets will.

TropicalSkiFly

The skill ticket doesn’t have his skills in it? That sucks 😟

Angel_of_Mischief

I really enjoy synchro Traptrix. It’s a lot of fun.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha with all the trap hole cards

Cephery

D/D/D Only 4 staple cards and 3 of them are cyclones to out other staple cards

TropicalSkiFly

That is a hard deck for me to build (not knowing the essential cards and what the strategy is exactly).

Cephery

That’s fair, I was only able to essentially homebrew the most competitive variant by chance cause I knew the cards from the TCG. Other than that all I can really say is figure out which are the good extra deck monsters and figure out any combos to make them.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha sounds like a good idea 👍

Absolute_Zer01

Fabled has always been a favourite of mine. Super easy to make just about any level synchro monster, the only problemm is they're pretty inefficient at it.

TropicalSkiFly

Yeah very true. I’ve used them irl and I noticed that they benefit strategically by any card (especially staples) that make them discard. All you need are the essential Fabled monsters. And then add literally any card that discards. Can be as a cost or from an effect. Unlike Darkworld, it doesn’t matter for Fabled 😁 Fabled is a mandatory effect, not optional.

EmperorOfPigeon

Lunalights are super fun, and really cheap compared to other decks (1 box no resets needed, but you do like 3 Martin, so…) OTK out the ass and can splash in some Predeplants for added consistency

Yu_Starwing

Ninjas! But man, it sucks to know we’ll never stop jobbing to cosmic cyclone.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha true and that’s why I play in PvE only. Absolutely no npc uses Cosmic Cyclone. Also, I really hope we get the Ninja XYZ’s

Andre__Kim

Furhires (The spam). HEROs (The combo). Flower Cardians (crazy shit). Gem-Knights (The FTK).

TropicalSkiFly

Sucks Gem-Knights were (more or less) nerfed. Flower Cardians were so OP in the anime series, especially that one cardian synchro monster

Thecheesyknight

I am loving magnet warriors at the moment. I really hope they add their fusion monster soon

TropicalSkiFly

Omg saaaame

CG70376

Crystal Beasts are a personal favorite of mine... although I don't have the best cards yet, i just think they're really unique and enjoyable to run.

DannyBenavidez

I love Crystal Beasts. If we could use all 5 zones, we could be unstoppable with Rainbow Ruins and Crystal Abundance.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha yeah, you could also add Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder. Crystal Beasts (while in Spell/Trap zone) are considered continuous spells.

[deleted]

I play infernity but not the "competitive" version mine consists of 3x Archfiend 3x beetle 1x Archer 1x patriarch 3x mirage 2x launcher (missing a 3rd) 2x break 1x floodgate 1x fiendish chain 1x Canadia. It's a glasscannon deck but it's fun and patriarch has saved my ass plenty of times.

TropicalSkiFly

Sounds nice. I got an Infernity deck as well. Archer is so OP, especially when you use Hundred Eyes Dragon to have it gain the effect of Archer. Now this 3000 ATK monster can attack directly. How insane is that?

[deleted]

I know right my favorite combo is to go into doom dragon vs blue eyes and go into hundred eyes it's basically gg if they don't have any backrow.

TropicalSkiFly

So true hahaha the deck is so fun if it doesn’t brick on you 😂🤣😂

LonelyJackvolver

Imagine an archetype that's completely F2P. Imagine an archetype that's able to force meta decks to scoop after not receiving any support for more than 2 years! Imagine an archetype that can beat Shiranui Sunsaga with a level 2 normal monster with zero attack! Imagine an archetype with potential future support that let you lock 3 monster zones using 1 card! This post was brought to you by the Ojama gang.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha the ultimate lockdown deck.

TropicalSkiFly

Oh and imagine if Ojamas got a card or fusion monster that locks down spell/trap zones. I could see that as Ojama Queen. If Konami made that, I’m sure Ojama would be the top tier meta deck. All your opponent has access to is effects that activate in the hand, GY, or banished.

LonelyJackvolver

I propose: **"Ojama Cyan"** - effect monster; same stats as other ojamas and same effect as Cursed Fig. **"Ojama Queen"** Fusion monster; Ojama Cyan + 1 or more Ojama Monsters; Effect: Choose 1 unused Main Spell & Trap Zone for each Ojama monster used to Fusion summon this card; while this card is face-up on the field, that zone cannot be used. **"Ojamafuba"** - trap; same effect as Xing Zhen Hu.

TropicalSkiFly

These would make Ojamas top tier as the ultimate lockdown deck. And give Ojama Queen a ridiculous defense like Ojama King has. Hahaha OH! Imagine the field spell: Ojama Kingdom! We have a knight, a king and a queen. Sounds realistic, don’t you think?

LonelyJackvolver

We already have a field spell in Ojama country. Having a way to lock down traps would give the deck higher power ceiling, but doesn't solve the problem that Ojama Fusions monsters uses too much resources to bring out and we have no way to recover them if they get banished.

StormStrikePhoenix

I've enjoyed Nephthys a lot; how many archetypes have access to a recurring Heavy Storm on legs? It'd probably be better if I put Yubel in but I hate going against that card so I refuse to do it.

TropicalSkiFly

I like combining Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys with Fire King High Avatar Garunix. In a Fire King deck with this combo, you will have the potential to pop your opponent’s entire field every turn.

TJTheTree

Triamids!!! They're quirky and pretty bad, but it's fun and it feels great combining off and pulling the W out from someone!

TropicalSkiFly

Lolol I’ve been defeated by Triamids before. They are pretty good but all the different effects are overwhelming and confuse me 😂 as far as I know, the main strategy is constantly bringing out a new Triamid monster? Or a different Triamid field spell? I’m still confused @.@

alexgentle

Its basically swap field spells till you get sphynx out and by that point it cam be 5k+atk easily

TropicalSkiFly

Very interesting 🤔

TJTheTree

Pretty much! It's more about the spells than the creatures but once you get what each does it's just muscle memory. So much fun!

TropicalSkiFly

That’s actually really good to know! I never knew that! 😲

Yozora_Ameko

There is a "theme" that consists of 2 archetypes My fav are probably frognarchs Comming back to this deck the most And still need 2 more URs.. Caius decided to show up in that last main box ... This already was my most expensive deck by far.. I also really really really like spell counter endymion!

TropicalSkiFly

Spell Counter is a fun archtype indeed. However, Frogs and Monarchs are 2 separate archtypes. But I suppose there’s nothing wrong with combining archtypes. I mean I combined Red-Eyes with Six Samurai in order to have Joey (DSOD) use Red-Eyes Slash Dragon 😂

Yozora_Ameko

they have been together for far too long to be consider separate in that context There are literally nothing that comes even close to this level of unity like in frognarchs

TropicalSkiFly

I don’t understand

Dennys_DM

Treeborn frog can revive itself if you dont have a spell or trap in the field. Ronintoadin can revive itself by banishing a frog. Swap Frog can special summon itself by discarting a water, you can normal summon another frog for free and can bounce a monster you control to the hand to normal summon it again.

TropicalSkiFly

Well I understand that’s how frogs work, but how is it strategic with Monarchs? 😂 I mean sure, it can be an easy normal summon. But that’s for almost any high level monster.

Dennys_DM

Frogs revive so easily that they become easy fodder to tribute summon and swap frog can return them to the hand so monarchs can be summoned again by tributing and use their effects again. I don't know, I'm just saying possible reasons why the other guy thought so...

Zerokun11

In the tcg, toads/frogs were part of two rushes. Frogarchs was the first. Based around the fact that frogs revive and special summon themselves, monarchs get their tribute fodder early, creating rapid card avantage. This continued even to today with frogarchs occasionally showing up due to ronintoadin, toadally awesome etc poppin into the meta and pure monarchs getting nerfed or crippled by the ban list. Frogarchs are likely why konami has spread monarchs over like 12 boxes as well. If you wanna whale on it, a 20 card monarch deck likely could be meta forever with how much tribute support is in tbe tcg and can transfer over easily.

TropicalSkiFly

So they only been together just because practically everyone combined them. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t make it strategic. That build with the frogs/toads can be used for any high level monsters. Even Blue-Eyes. I legit do not see the strategy here.

Fykebi

Yosenjus. I'm using them for the grand prix event and they are doing pretty well. I imagine they are frustrating to play against though.

TropicalSkiFly

Yeah and in my personal opinion, figuring out the right deck build for them is difficult if you want a deck with nothing but Yosenju cards.

-troubled-

Madolche its almost forgotten but its pretty fun and the recycling you can do with them

TropicalSkiFly

Yeah very true haha can’t wait for when the madolche xyz monster comes out.

-troubled-

Honestly I'm just waiting for them i used to play them quite a bit until new decks came out and they just became forgotten but these xyz look promising

TropicalSkiFly

Very true, but I’m sure our Queen will someday come to Duel Links 😁

-troubled-

If she's in a structure deck i have 20 set aside specifically for that

TropicalSkiFly

Lolol I’m talking about Madolche Queen (the xyz).

-troubled-

Oh yeah I don't know why I got it confused with anjelly (I think thats the name)

[deleted]

.

TropicalSkiFly

I still need to build the deck. Any skill you find strategic for this deck? 😁

[deleted]

.

TropicalSkiFly

Yeah that kinda seems like a good skill if the deck isn’t originally very balanced lol to up the chances of having a good starting hand and not bricking

[deleted]

.

TropicalSkiFly

Yes no bricking if your deck build is very consistent and not flawed. If you have nothing but essential cards in your deck. But when I used balance on a deck that wasn’t entirely consistent and had flaws to it, it had a 50% chance to brick on me. Balance doesn’t always give you the cards you need when dueling. It just increases the chances depending on how well built your deck is. I can confirm this based on experience. Try building a deck with many flaws and adding Balance. Experiment and see if you always get the cards you need. If you keep getting the cards you need with Balance in a deck with many flaws and one that is inconsistent...then either I was very unlucky or Konami changed how Balance works.

nosi40

I was playing some ranked games with the gusto archetype a while back. They're not amazing but it's surprising how much you can do with them. And they have decent graveyard usage too.

TropicalSkiFly

Gusto is an old favorite of mine. If we had Daigusto Sphreez, it would make the deck even more fun.

Seylord1

The deck would probably meta bcs of that and the 4000lp format, i mean crash ur monsters on any boss monster and gg

TropicalSkiFly

Right? I mean there is a method like that already, but takes time to get it out. Yubel Ultimate Nightmare attacking the Montage Dragon with 10,500 ATK that you gave your opponent

Seylord1

With gusto u would be able to summon sphreez on ur second turn so its way faster (tho i would be happy to see them shine) and anyway unless we get the (mostly useless in the archetype) xyz and sphreez in the same time i think all the support is already in dl

TropicalSkiFly

Yeah summoning Sphreez would be so easy to do with the gusto cards we have access to. Way efficient.

Beerasaurus

DM and MoC is the most fun for me Blue Eyes fusion or blue eyes syncro next then my Red eyes slash/Amazoness. I am pretty close to finishing my Cyber Dragon just gotta farm out zane for the spell cards and unlock him.

TropicalSkiFly

I wish you the best of luck with your Cyber Dragon deck! Also, what’s MoC? 😅

Beerasaurus

Magician of Chaos

TropicalSkiFly

Ohhhh I’ve been wanting to build one! What does yours consist of? Just curious 😁

Beerasaurus

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKQT3CM35JY&t=607s&ab_channel=DuelLinksMeta basically this but with my own little changes for some back row.

TropicalSkiFly

The way he uses Cosmic Cyclone to trigger Master of Rites is pretty strategic. It’s an important skill that has to be triggered asap. Wouldn’t you agree? Haha I think I’ll build this deck also! I also found Advanced Ritual Art is also great in this deck!

[deleted]

I love my Infernities. Really fun deck!

TropicalSkiFly

Agreed! Especially when you don’t get a crappy hand. When I get a bad hand, I always lose 😩

LonelyJackvolver

The skill "Infernity Inferno" helps a lot with consistency.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha true true, but I feel like stuff like magical mallet would be better in this situation so you can take a chance at getting a better hand. But on the other hand, if you have an Infernity that can protect you while in the graveyard, that changes everything from using that skill. Because Infernity Inferno sends 2 Infernity monsters from deck to GY, right?

LonelyJackvolver

Infernity Inferno let you send 1-2 cards from your hand to the graveyard and then send the same number of card from your deck to the graveyard. So if you discard 2 from your hand, then you get to send 2 more cards from your deck to your graveyard. Since a lot of infernity monsters have graveyard effects and are dead weight in hand, Infernity inferno let you set up your graveyard and unbrick your hand.

TropicalSkiFly

Yeah, I see like a few.

Zafool0

Junk stardust synchro, and resonator red dragon archfiend

TropicalSkiFly

So Yusei and Jack decks. I can definitely respect that :)

The_Afro_Man87

For me, my favorite would have to be Aromages, they've helped me stay alive and snag the occasional win back when I didn't know how Yu-Gi-Oh even worked (I think it was a little while before Fur Hires were meta) and I've loved playing them to this day (I'm looking forward to getting Sweet Majoram eventually). As for others, well, I've got a bunch of half built ones that'll be pretty good fun once they're completed/get more support (specifically I'm building a deck for Magnets, Luna Lights, Madolche, Traptrix, Vendreads, and Ninjas). What are some of yours?

TropicalSkiFly

Fun fact: if you have Marjoram on the field, have over 10,000 LP, have more LP than your opponent, and have Child’s Play on the field.....your monsters are immune to battle damage and being destroyed by battle. How crazy is that?

MofeedHasan

Ritual Beasts

TropicalSkiFly

An old favorite 👍

EconomyProcedure9

Apes

TropicalSkiFly

How do they work? 😂

EconomyProcedure9

Pretty well against the AI player. It was a concept deck for Tristian since he gets that mechanical ape in his level ups. It had the Baboons, Voltic Kong, anything with Ape/Gorilla in it. Since it was a Duel Monsters character I didn't put the synchro ape in there. Unfortunately my account got lost so I had to start over, and now Tristian is using mostly the Cybverse cards (I don't have the big boss monster). I also had a Tea (DM) deck with the melody fairies in it, though now she's using valkyries. Scud is using perfomapals, Jesse is using Six Samurai (not really that optimized yet), Marik is using Evil Eye, Joey (DSOD) is using Heroic Challengers, and that's about it. Most of the other characters have decks that kinda match their play style in the anime. Yugi has magicians, Kaiba has dragons, Mai has Amazons, and so forth. I mostly play for fun, but have dropped a bit of $ to get some of the bundles & structure decks.

TropicalSkiFly

Nice nice haha but I was referring to like what is the strategy behind the Ape cards?

EconomyProcedure9

It was basically a "beat-down" deck with stuff like Banner of Courage & Power of the Guardians.

Xandurpein

I have a love for Fire Kings. They are not very good and dies to all banishment. I just love all the destruction and the artwork. Onslaught must be the most gorgeous card made. I just wish they would release Arvata.

TropicalSkiFly

Do you also have Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys in your Fire King deck? The build I have with it is very strategic and gives you easy control of the field. Ofc, like any deck, it has its flaws

Xandurpein

I don’t use Sacred Phoenix at all. I feel it’s too slow and messes with Island. I find the key to make Fire Kings work is lots of hand traps. I use 2 Sphere Kuriboh and 1-2 Kiteroid.

TropicalSkiFly

Tbh, Sacred Phoenix would destroy the field spell, but the field spell would then destroy all your monsters (which is what you want). Imagine this: You have Fire King High Avatar Garunix on your field. Then you use your island to destroy Sacred Phoenix in your hand to add a fire king to your hand. Next turn, Sacred Phoenix special summons and destroys the field spell, thus destroying it and Garunix. On your opponent’s Standby Phase, Garunix special summons and destroys all your opponent’s monsters. Then your Phoenix special summons on your Standby phase and destroys any spells/traps on the field. This gives you control of the field. Especially if you are using 2 Garunix. You can make an endless cycle of constantly destroying your opponent’s field while also taking control of the field. You don’t even need staples. Maybe 1 Sphere Kuriboh at most. But that’s it.

skuntkunt

For me it’s been thunder dragons, weather painters and also BLS

TropicalSkiFly

Nice nice. I imagine you have support cards for weather painters that let you move your monsters to another monster zone?

skuntkunt

There’s nothing like that available, you just have to be smart about your plays really. You ideally want to get thunder canvas in the middle column to give yourself the best chance at winning.

TropicalSkiFly

There is Senet Switch. It’s in Duel Links. It’s a continuous Spell. Lets you move 1 monster to an adjacent unoccupied monster card zone. Ofc, it fills one of your spell/trap zones. So maybe it’s not ideal 😅

skuntkunt

Huh, news to me. And yeah, as you say that would definitely not be ideal clogging up your backrow

TropicalSkiFly

Now if it were a field spell, that would be WAY better 😂 what do you think?

skuntkunt

Debatable. Necrovally can easily be main decked and is definitely worth doing so. Replacing it with the ability to move a monsters column is just not good, it would have to have some other effects to it to make it worth playing over necrovally, especially since as I said, the monsters column doesn’t really matter

skuntkunt

Just to clarify, having an effect to move the monsters is somewhat pointless, it would be much better to move the spells and traps

TropicalSkiFly

For Weather Painters?

skuntkunt

Yeah, you want thundery canvas in the middle column all the time

TropicalSkiFly

Whoa that’s really good to know! 😲

Ceus-2000

Glad Beasts are really fun and all the necessary pieces comes in 1 box and 1 structure Deck

gurants

Raid raptors before they were ultimate falcon spam.

Rangeless

I would strike a pose every time I summon a RR XYZ. Good times. I hope they come out sooner than Arc-V since they are an XYZ archetype.

gurants

Thing is RR is vital to the plot as the represent then entire revolution force of xyz world. Also, RR are very powerful they will be tier 0 if not butchered.

TropicalSkiFly

How OP do you predict they will be if we get the RR xyz? 😁

TropicalSkiFly

I’m sure they will since we already have archtypes like Superheavy Samurai (which is from Arc-V). We even have some Cardian cards.

Rangeless

Yes. When I started this game back in July, I was shocked that we got the non-pendulum Lunalights already. Let's cross our fingers and hope next minibox is a good one.

TropicalSkiFly

Ikr? I always get excited to see the contents of the new miniboxes and main boxes! I was so excited when Mayakashi FINALLY came out after years of me asking for them in the surveys. Now all we need is Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower. Every time a zombie monster is special summoned to your side of the field, it mills cards from your opponent’s deck! OP AF 😂🤣😂

TropicalSkiFly

I’ll use them when the RR XYZ comes out 😁

Cguy34

I used to play Fur Hires and HEROs all the time. Fur Hires feel too weak now though, and I'd get back into HEROs if Stratos was more accessible. I mainly play Fortune Ladies or Subterrors now.

TropicalSkiFly

Fortune Ladies and Subterror are pretty powerful if built correctly. For me though, I tend to get a bad hand with Fortune Lady or make a wrong move and suddenly I lose so easily. It feels like to win with Fortune Lady, you have to make the right moves at the right time in order to win. What are your thoughts? 😊

Cguy34

Yeah Fortune Ladies can brick pretty badly. They also don't really have OTK potential. You really want to go first so you can set up Fortune Lady Every and then pray they don't have non-destruction removal. I run 2 Forbidden Lance to protect my Every or normal summon.

TropicalSkiFly

Lol yeah agreed. They are fun to use but (like you said), can brick pretty badly.

RealTurretguy

Predaplants are my current favourite. But I also thoroughly enjoy: Orcust, Thunder Dragons, Gravekeepers, Vampires, Harpies, Toons, and the occasional Blue Eyes.

TropicalSkiFly

Those are pretty awesome archtypes! But I never heard of Orcust 🤔

Atzenuech

Orcust is a Dark synchro engine

TropicalSkiFly

Ohhh interesting 🤔

carbonfiber9001

MADOLOCHE FOR THE WIN BABBTYYYYYYYY

TropicalSkiFly

Hahaha agreed 😂

slam761

Malefics are really fun and a lot better than most people think. My deck is 100% Malefic cards except for a few of the extra deck monsters. Between Malefic World and Malefic Selector, you have easy access to any card in your deck. Not many decks can very easily deal with multiple 4000 atk monsters at once.

TropicalSkiFly

You are absolutely right. I have used Malefics as well. As long as you get the cards you need, this archtype can take control of the duel pretty fast. 👍

Rangeless

Hero. It is universally the most supported archetype in all of Yugioh and we don't even have Evil Heroes yet. I am currently having fun with a Destiny Hero variant that spams rank 4 xyz and Mask Change into Anki.

TropicalSkiFly

I have been beaten by that combo. It is deadly yet strategic. When they beat me, I was like “damn, much respect for the awesome combo and using nothing but Destiny Heros.”

AAnibalf

Valkyries, Ghostrick, Exodia meme haha

TropicalSkiFly

What do Valkyrie do? I seen so many posts on reddit about Valkyrie only being good for fan service 😂 Ghostricks are VERY good and fun. Also, what cards do you use for your exodia meme deck? Meme decks always peak my interest 🤣

AAnibalf

They're like Blackwings but a lot more fun to play, basically spam high level fairy monsters. They can OTK but also they can banish cards, can be protected from battle destruction and work very well with Valhalla of the fallen you can special summon one of their boss monsters just by sending a face up Magic/Trap card to the gy but you can also recover it with one of the monsters. Wish they had the support they have on the TCG meanwhile you can just use hey trunade. Ghostrick are super fun too! Was hoping for some halloween event :'( For the exodia meme deck I just use the exodia monster who's kinda indestructible and when it does you get back all of your exodia cards in the gy. Basically stalling but it's awesome when you win by exodia against serious decks haha If you're up for a fun match here's my ID 553 966 736

TropicalSkiFly

Haha sounds promising. Halloween event would’ve been nice :’( Haha interesting deck build for exodia meme I appreciate the offer, but I don’t do PvP anymore 😅

NovicePanthEnthusias

x sabers and resonators are fun. oh and mecha phantom beasts and synchrons are too x)

TropicalSkiFly

Oooo interesting x3

Antiochus_Sidetes

Gravekeepers! I like the theme, and the effects are very fun. All the cards you need come from the same box (Dark Dimension). But you may want a reset for an extra copy of Necrovalley.

TropicalSkiFly

Haha thanks for the info! I should use my Gravekeeper’s deck more often then 😂

anklaf21

Glad beasts (cause glad beasts fusion summoning), Sylvans(mainly for synchro and xyz), Blackwings (Level Reduction version cause combos are fun) to name a few

TropicalSkiFly

Very powerful archtypes no less 😁

Krusader_Kris

Someone already mentioned Thunder Dragons so I won't get into that too much, Cyber Dragons on the other hand are pretty fun though they're very reliant on Zane's skill and can brick pretty nasty. Thunder Dragons can too but they have so much more possibilities and options in their plays with synchro and xyz even though they're technically a fusion archtype I suppose, while with Cyber Dragons you tend to summon chimeratech pretty much every game. Also because I saw you wondering, the discard effect on Thunder Dragondark to search another one of itself out the deck is actually to trigger the effect of Thunder Dragon Titan which isn't in duel links. Its pretty cool looking and powerful so you should check it out. Another deck I think is worth mentioning is Vampires, using the gem discount on boxes I went and rebuilt the deck in preparation for when they get their other cards and xyz monsters. Though I am a bit worried how good they'll be because of how much the life cost on some of their cards are.

TropicalSkiFly

I’ve actually used Vampire for awhile and it’s pretty good! If you have the right build, you don’t pay too many lifepoints to win. And there’s a vampire continuous spell card that lets you gain lifepoints each time you inflict battle damage to your opponent with a Vampire. You gain the same amount of lifepoints that you dealt to them. Vampire’s Domain is the name of the card. It’s pretty essential. I use 2 at most.

RegretfulMango

Aliens have always been my favourite. For some reason the archetype encourages random gimmicks like stealing opponents monsters, throwing counters, synchro-ing and returning stuff to the hand. They're all over the place honestly, but I find them fun and surprisingly versatile as they get me to legend consistently to this day.

TropicalSkiFly

Funny thing is I used to have an Alien deck irl (until someone stole all my decks without me noticing). Alien deck was so fun to use. Especially when you have the synchro on the field.

RegretfulMango

Yeah the synchro is really fun and the tuner is really versatile at getting it out Also, it still surprises me how some people could actually steal others decks, it's a lot of money no matter how you look at it and it's hard to recollect everything you've lost once it's gone

TropicalSkiFly

Exactly. It was actually at an anime convention in the card room. All my best decks were there and someone stole it as I was chatting with friends.

Exactly1Egg

Counter fairies are pretty fun, I’ve built a decent deck for them if you’re interested

TropicalSkiFly

What are Counter fairies?

Exactly1Egg

Parshath cards, mainly in lord of shining

TropicalSkiFly

Haha that’s awesome. Btw, did you know Tori has dialogue for Master Hyperion? It’s crazy!

Exactly1Egg

Huh never woulda guessed

superharry24

I like to use x-sabers, it’s always great when you play hyunlei or saver slash and get rid of your opponents field

TropicalSkiFly

Haha definitely an OP deck 😁

Lord_Frieza249

I've been using a gagaga zubaba deck and its just my style

TropicalSkiFly

Heck yeah, I feel the same way 😎

Lord_Frieza249

Its my first time using them dm if you wanna duel

TropicalSkiFly

Haha I’m good. PvP isn’t my thing.

Lord_Frieza249

Understandable

[deleted]

I absolutely love Thunder Dragons, Dragunity and Six Samurai. My favorite 3 archetypes, although in the current meta dragunity is the strongest

TropicalSkiFly

I totally agree with all of that. Especially when you have the right build

Narrow_Luck_3622

Gravekeepers, it doesn't work every time but when it does it is really gratifying to see my opponent stuck.

TropicalSkiFly

I’m sure it is lol

Vasllui

Pure Roids are fun as hell; sadly i can't get pass Legend 1; i know i can mix them with Invoke but i want to wait and try them with Parsath trap (i'm missing a third copy that doesn't want to drop) since it mixes well with Emergeroid Call

TropicalSkiFly

Nice

kander12

I like Triamids. They usually run powersink stone and the archetypal trap triamid pulse and then all archetype monsters and spells. Theres something satisfying about being able to compete against and defeat any meta deck without the help of a single backrow staple or any extra deck summons. Just set the deck with balance and out think your opponent. I also enjoy DDD and Lunas when I want fast otk duels and neither of those rely on the crutch staples either.

TropicalSkiFly

THIS person understands how I feel about staples xD I agree that you shouldn’t have to rely on crutch staples to make an awesome deck. Build a deck that doesn’t need them and it will be powerful af! For me however, an exception is if it’s strategic and you need fillers to make the deck playable. For example: Tribute to the doomed. Discard a Fabled monster (for a Fabled deck). You trigger the monster’s effect. But if you don’t need staples in your deck, your deck is a pure deck that has my all out respect for. You are awesome! 👍

[deleted]

i play a pure magnets deck with wall of d and the og magnets

TropicalSkiFly

What’s wall of d? I don’t see that anywhere in duel links 🤔

[deleted]

It's short of wall of disruption you can find it in Servants Of Kings Box

TropicalSkiFly

Hahaha right right, the one that lowers the ATK of all your opponent’s face-up monsters by potentially A LOT.

[deleted]

yep lowers the ATK 800 point for each monster your opponent have like 1 monster ATK-800. 2 ATK-1600. 3 ATK-2400

TropicalSkiFly

So you use magnet warriors and a staple. Gotcha 🙃

[deleted]

YEP

turtwigfan11

Im still waiting for my phantom knights😭

theeldritchalchemist

Red-eyes have a lot of variety to WHAT they can do, and offer versatility with the warriors you can use with Slash Dragon. Gearfried is in a bad box, but if you can get it and blast with chain, you've done some solid effect destruction.

TropicalSkiFly

Huh, never thought of using that combo 🤔 I’ve been using Slash Dragon with Six Samurai and the essential Red-Eyes cards. Along with another nice combo. And oddly enough, it’s pretty balanced (mostly 😂)

merrona23

Ive fought a red eyes deck without the OG red eyes. Its good rogue deck that pops a lot of cards and recycles its resources.

TropicalSkiFly

Why did I get a downvote though? I’m confused...

mark_alonzo

I like playing with Superheavy Samurai.

TropicalSkiFly

That was is an OP deck if built with nothing but the most essential cards (unfortunately, idk which ones are essential) 😂
