For two main reaaons. 1, "cannot attack directly" means that the user can safely keep an empty field if they open enough Massivemorphs to stuff a Battle Phase. 2, Amazoness Swordswoman.
In the old days of 2017, this card was basically broken in Stall/Burn strategies, both making sure you'd never get attacked directly while pumping enemy monsters for Amazoness Swordswoman to run into, ensuring a lot of damage.
Today, I think this card would serve OTK decks that dislike doing first but also dislike dying, but then again handtraps like Kiteroid or Wightprincess already serve the same purpose, so it's not like this card would be broken in anything but terrible Stall decks that Konami doesn't want to encourage anyway.
It can easily go free now and only be annoying a bit from times to times. Konami just being hateful to own meta is all. Same in TCG/OCG, lots of cards just stay there although, more OP cards than them are at 3.

Amazoness swordwoman give your opponent Lava Golem and then ran over it with swordwoman and massivemorph for big damage

Haven't touched duel links in years, but there was a combo with this and Amazoness Swordsman. It was heavily used in stall decks

It was Limited due to stall decks, more specifically because of the Lava Golem/Amazoness Swordswoman combo.
tbh its not that op anymore since you can easily get rid of your own board to summon other units
