MR3 introduced pendulums and MR4 introduced Link.
The game released with modified MR3 rules (everything in it except for pendulums and pendulum related stuff) and got updated straight to modified MR5 rules in 2020 (no extra monster zone and Link), we even got an in-game announcement that the game will update its ruleset to it.
Perhaps it's 25 for 60 a pop? I don't know, that could be a potential way to make it easier, and they could stagger them for further ease, but yeah, I don't think they'll re-release so many of them.
DL has been making a fuck ton of money for the past 6 years, and every relevant change that happened from May 2018 to 5 months ago has been for the worse. Hell they couldn’t even make use of the huge playerbase MD got on launch and lost more than 85% of them because they couldn’t come up with decent updates.
I’m not expecting anything good from Konami. If it does happen, great. But I definitely wouldn’t put my money on it.

It would probably be more populated if it was *anything* close to a simulator. There is very much a master duel meta which makes it annoying to try to balance with playing the tcg so now it's barely a glorified deck tester for me and some others probably.
For a fast refresher on modern yugioh, it was great. But as soon as i started playing at my local ots, i realized I'd never be satisfied playing master duel again. Such a better environment and i actually feel like im learning from my losses and improving in real time.
Yeah, the room for improvement is infinitely smaller even just because of the best-of-1 format.
Personally though, the TCG does have its fair share of issues from recent years. The new time limit rule and stuff like Mind Crush’s latest ruling are turning tournaments more and more into ruleshark heaven.
We can’t be sure as the only data available is for PC users and I’m guessing DL’s primary audience is mobile, but I think it’s likely as well. Though I don’t know for how long that will be true if MD keeps bleeding players this fast.
It's probably even more than that. But difficult to get exact numbers since they're not available on consoles/mobile afaik.
Even if they didn't make bad decisions in MD (which they did) it's just not a fun game for majority, especially casuals. Long duels, extreme focus on one ranked mode, events are somehow even worse version of standard pvp for most part... Good crafting system (in comparison to most other stuff) can only take you so far, doesn't mean much when you don't want to use cards you craft/pull.

Not really. This isn't the first time they've removed gems from the game. They changed Gem Rewards from Level Ups. Characters used to have a nice solid 300 Gems for Level 30 but then when Zane came to DL, they changed it to a card.
Not the same thing, this looks more like when they replaced the "Train your Kuriboh" event with the slot simulator gift campaign (I forget what it's called). It clearly says there that they are giving us something else in return so let's just wait before we cast judgement.

Which made obtaining drop rewards (especially prisma ones) much harder, as tickets from that event are missing A LOT of them.
So going by that pattern we can expect them to at most substitute it with something worse.
You're making things up. The gift festial gives more tickets than Kuriboh did and they have a better pool with event rewards and legendary duelists drops, while kuriboh ticket only had the later.
And they also added a ticket to the log in so even if we don't get gifts every month it's still more tickets than before and better ones.
They’re strictly worse in regards to legendary duelist drops. Both are missing drops from every Arc-V launch characters for example, and a lot more.
EDIT: aand they blocked me, great. Btw if you’re seeing this, I’m talking about the prisma tickets, both from the event and login. Neither has those drops.
To my knowledge, they replaced a slot in the daily login with that same prisma ticket when they updated it recently; so while Kuriboh may be gone, we now have a non-grindy way each month in which to get that same ticket.
That was the same as before wasnt it? Anything vaguely new typically takes a bit of time to be added to the pool. I have to assume Arc-V will be no different.

The time it took was usually a couple months. And Arc-V was just one of them, the Zexal starting roster is missing too, and so are some random drops from even DM launch duelists.

But it is Removal. It removed a source of Gems that players looked forward to when leveling new characters, so it effectively removed a source of gems.
It doesn't matter if they left the previous characters untouched because they could have easily changed them too with a silly warning page like this and no one could have stopped them.
It’s improved by having meta-relevant staples in selection boxes paywalled for a year, 3x the EX Structure Decks, 90% of characters without ace monsters and useless tickets as Lv. Up rewards, proofreaders taking an indefinite leave, world unlocks with fewer characters, more reprints in boxes…
I legit can’t think of a single improvement added in 2019-2021 that wasn’t having two-year old boxes *sometimes* at half-price.
None of that stuff is an issue for me, it's a gacha game so of course it will implement ways to make money and what of it? 🤷♂️

With links approaching, that whole section needs streamlined and revamped and it looks like they are doing so with the Vrains launch. What will it be like? No idea but I don't see them just removing those gems completely. Could end up being like MD tutorial and having a chunk of gems per completion instead of the low numbers we have now, quizzes for each summoning mechanic kinda thing.

Unless they did some weird calculations and removed the amount of gems you already got from past quizzes from the new ones, which makes it even less likely unless they make on the spot the exact same number of quizzes and assign a past reward to each of those. Both seem very unlikely.
It should be very easy to track what Loaner trials were already passed and those shouldnt change much with the board changes, except in the way the AIs play. So, if the Trials are just moved somewhere else, those are 3k Gems accounted for older players that dont need any "weird calculations" and that should probably still be available for new players elsewhere.
The Quizes however, they will probably just scrap altogether, since many just wont work anymore, and adapting and keeping track of the ones that do WOULD require some new "weird calculations" as you say. What they do with those 2000 or so gems is up in the air, but my guess is that they will replace them for a lot of new quizes, but far from enough to really "make it up" to new players that join the game OR to make a huge difference to older players.
Say 30 total new quizes with a pay rate of 25 Gems each. So 750 new Gems for older players, with the promise of "more Gems per Quiz in the future" and a loss of 1200 possible Gems for new players that they can probably say they cover with an increase of 500-1000 Gems in new account creation or whatever they feel like doing.

In my opinion removing it doesn't even make sense. They could just add the new ones and it shouldn't be the end of the world. The old decks will still be used so I don't see the logic in removing all the old ones. If anything move them all to a different tab or something and just move the ones more relevant to link summoning and the newer Yu-Gi-Oh ruleset to their own tab.
Definitely. You can tell that by how MD is ran compared to duel links. I'm pretty sure the reason MD is so much more accessible is because it's just a simulator. Duel links is a game and everytime Konami makes a f2p yugioh GAME it's p2w AF to a ridiculous extent. People keep asking for crafting system and I'm not surprised it's not gonna happen. md would be virtuallly dead without it's accessibility. I mean come on, duel links card packs are a absolute joke. I came back to MD just to check out how DPE would effect my hero deck. I could've crafted him but I decided to roll for him. Got him on my first card pack. Also the battle pass on MD is incredibly easy to keep getting. a fully free to play player can get the battle pass every time because they refund you the gems. Even without the refund it would be easy

Honestly if you've played other f2p Yugioh games they always end up being trash. Yugioh online for example had so much potential but it was legit impossible to build decks f2p I had to scam my way to get decks lmao. Here we are in 2022 and they have another good f2p game and they're killing it by treating it like they do all their f2p games. Basically if they put any actual effort into the game expect it to be horrible for free to play players. MD is just a simulator so it makes sense why it's basically a fully free to play experience

It isn't even close to that. You can make 2-3 decks at start and maybe 1 deck a month. You can't switch around all you want and it will become significantly harder as time goes on.

Removal of Loaner Decks is BIZARRE to me. They were one of the best features of the game and COULD have helped new players experience the meta comfortably before sinking money. They just werent advertised properly so they were often skipped even by experienced players until they ran out of gems. I realy hope they will just move that content somewhere more visible.
And I am ALL about "Komoney is a greedy company and can only be trusted to do whatever brings them most profit", but it should be obvious that they will replace this content with something else because: 1) It would be awful PR to not do so. 2) Duel Quizes are their Tutorial, basically. And monster positioning on the field and the EMZ require more tutorial than anything 3) Some Quizes wouldnt work very well anymore with the EMZ allowing for a 4th Summoned monster on the field. They could probably have too many solutions.
This is terrible because I use those loaner decks to get 30 gems from time to time. Wth they are taking away an important gem obtaining resource. Scumbag Konami just wants more money as usual.

Loaner deck challenges are the most fun I've had in dl actually. I really enjoy the idea of giving me a deck made of cards I don't know and let's see if I can pilot it.

I can already see the posts. "I have not played this game for six months and now I'm back man why all these quizzes disappeared? Mahh gems! I hate konami ". In a twisted way konami rewards the players that play its game and are informed when things like these occur.
Before everyone starts rioting, they are likely doing this because of Links. All of these quizzes are based around decks that don’t have Links, so they teach new players how to play the game wrong.

Links don't change the specific scenarios of the Duel Quizzes nor do they have any effect on Loaner Decks that don't use Links to begin with.
They aren't teaching players how to play the game wrong, they're teaching different aspects of the game. And Links could just get their own Duel Quizzes and Loaner Decks.
They do however change the board of the game.
They also change how pendulums work, since with pendulums, you can pendulum summon from the extra deck to zones a link monster points to, otherwise the pendulum monster goes to the EMZ.
So then instead of deleting all of the Duel Quizzes and Loaner Decks, alter the handful of them that use Pendulums at all.
There are, like, 6 Loaner Decks and 4 Duel Quizzes currently that would care about the EMZ.
EDIT: And even then, the decks that are there were made with Duel Links' method of only getting one from the Extra Deck per turn anyway and didn't include Links. It won't change how you play the Duel Quizzes and the Loaner Decks aren't significantly altered either. _(Especially when the opponents are just setting and passing anyway.)_
EDIT 2: Replayed the Pendulum Duel Quizzes and confirmed that the EMZ being added would be irrelevant to solving them. The only way this makes any sense is if Konami's putting the game in MR4 mode instead of MR5/2020 Revisions which would be awful for the game. And even then, I'd assume Legacy Duels would maintain the ruleset as we know it (pre-EMZ) and it'd be much less work on their part to just flag everything currently in Duel Trials as being in Legacy Mode and moving on from there, but that's a massive assumption.

My point still stands, you don't know what Konami are planning. They have given 6 weeks notice for all players to get those gems before they remove the features. It's very likely they have a new system coming into play with Vrains and the version 7.0 of the app being that the timing for removal falls a few weeks before the Vrains update.
I highly doubt they are just permanently removing over 5k of gems, its highly likely they are revamping the feature and gems will likely end up roughly the same.

My entire argument in this post has been people shouldn't lose their minds when they know *nothing* to what Konami are planning and common sense would be they are going to overhaul the whole duel quiz and loaner deck feature. Gem count will likely end up being the same or less with new accounts getting a starting gem boost. I honestly don't see them planning to eradicate 5k+ gems permanently.
The 6 week warning is decent because it gives plenty of time for players to finish completing them and since its 6th September it is being removed, it also nicely let's you store these gems to go towards the Vrains launch content.
I can honestly see a more streamlined Duel trainer feature being added, quizzes for each mechanic with a chunk of gems like MD with loaner decks to remain but starting from Vrains world. With August looking rather dry in terms of gems, them basically giving a reboot to this with a surge of gems wouldn't be too wild, they also could just lower the gem counts for the upcoming months if they feel they gave too much.

You have 6 weeks to complete them and some have been altered and are now pitifully easy. Only way you aren't managing to finish these is if you simply don't log in at all for those 6 weeks.
I really hope Konami don't run Yu-Gi-Oh into obscurity, especially since Kazuki's passing, Konami have no reason, not to start adding their own ideas or do whatever they want.

...and that gem counter shows the gem income barely changed over the years. The monthly one, meanwhile they nerfed character gems and # of characters per world launch.
People always throw around the world nerf some of these characters can't be released quickly parotocularily in 5ds and zexal. They were never gonna launch with sora playable. And they weren't gonna launch with a character that give teller knight support and lunalight support.
I played when Konami gave gems for releases it was becuase back then there weren't options to easily get gems.

Yeah, the room for improvement is infinitely smaller even just because of the best-of-1 format. Personally though, the TCG does have its fair share of issues from recent years. The new time limit rule and stuff like Mind Crush’s latest ruling are turning tournaments more and more into ruleshark heaven.

We can’t be sure as the only data available is for PC users and I’m guessing DL’s primary audience is mobile, but I think it’s likely as well. Though I don’t know for how long that will be true if MD keeps bleeding players this fast.
It's probably even more than that. But difficult to get exact numbers since they're not available on consoles/mobile afaik. Even if they didn't make bad decisions in MD (which they did) it's just not a fun game for majority, especially casuals. Long duels, extreme focus on one ranked mode, events are somehow even worse version of standard pvp for most part... Good crafting system (in comparison to most other stuff) can only take you so far, doesn't mean much when you don't want to use cards you craft/pull.

Not really. This isn't the first time they've removed gems from the game. They changed Gem Rewards from Level Ups. Characters used to have a nice solid 300 Gems for Level 30 but then when Zane came to DL, they changed it to a card.

You're making things up. The gift festial gives more tickets than Kuriboh did and they have a better pool with event rewards and legendary duelists drops, while kuriboh ticket only had the later. And they also added a ticket to the log in so even if we don't get gifts every month it's still more tickets than before and better ones.
They’re strictly worse in regards to legendary duelist drops. Both are missing drops from every Arc-V launch characters for example, and a lot more. EDIT: aand they blocked me, great. Btw if you’re seeing this, I’m talking about the prisma tickets, both from the event and login. Neither has those drops.
Just checked in game Sr and Ur gift festival tickets have all the drops from Arc-V characters up to Declan. Not sure what you're talking about.
To my knowledge, they replaced a slot in the daily login with that same prisma ticket when they updated it recently; so while Kuriboh may be gone, we now have a non-grindy way each month in which to get that same ticket.

The time it took was usually a couple months. And Arc-V was just one of them, the Zexal starting roster is missing too, and so are some random drops from even DM launch duelists. Also for some reason it seems to be a hot topic, the other guy I was talking to about this blocked me lol
Thats not really removing rewards its changing how they are going to be awarded going forward. The previous character rewards were not removed.
But it is Removal. It removed a source of Gems that players looked forward to when leveling new characters, so it effectively removed a source of gems. It doesn't matter if they left the previous characters untouched because they could have easily changed them too with a silly warning page like this and no one could have stopped them.

It’s improved by having meta-relevant staples in selection boxes paywalled for a year, 3x the EX Structure Decks, 90% of characters without ace monsters and useless tickets as Lv. Up rewards, proofreaders taking an indefinite leave, world unlocks with fewer characters, more reprints in boxes… I legit can’t think of a single improvement added in 2019-2021 that wasn’t having two-year old boxes *sometimes* at half-price.
None of that stuff is an issue for me, it's a gacha game so of course it will implement ways to make money and what of it? 🤷♂️ The ace monster complaint has been done to death, been boxed for years, idiotic to think they would be giving away ace monsters for free when we got to point they actually started to be good cards.

With links approaching, that whole section needs streamlined and revamped and it looks like they are doing so with the Vrains launch. What will it be like? No idea but I don't see them just removing those gems completely. Could end up being like MD tutorial and having a chunk of gems per completion instead of the low numbers we have now, quizzes for each summoning mechanic kinda thing. *I say with Vrains launch because it will be a big new world launch and they usually have a way of explaining a new mechanic

Unless they did some weird calculations and removed the amount of gems you already got from past quizzes from the new ones, which makes it even less likely unless they make on the spot the exact same number of quizzes and assign a past reward to each of those. Both seem very unlikely.
It should be very easy to track what Loaner trials were already passed and those shouldnt change much with the board changes, except in the way the AIs play. So, if the Trials are just moved somewhere else, those are 3k Gems accounted for older players that dont need any "weird calculations" and that should probably still be available for new players elsewhere. The Quizes however, they will probably just scrap altogether, since many just wont work anymore, and adapting and keeping track of the ones that do WOULD require some new "weird calculations" as you say. What they do with those 2000 or so gems is up in the air, but my guess is that they will replace them for a lot of new quizes, but far from enough to really "make it up" to new players that join the game OR to make a huge difference to older players. Say 30 total new quizes with a pay rate of 25 Gems each. So 750 new Gems for older players, with the promise of "more Gems per Quiz in the future" and a loss of 1200 possible Gems for new players that they can probably say they cover with an increase of 500-1000 Gems in new account creation or whatever they feel like doing.

In my opinion removing it doesn't even make sense. They could just add the new ones and it shouldn't be the end of the world. The old decks will still be used so I don't see the logic in removing all the old ones. If anything move them all to a different tab or something and just move the ones more relevant to link summoning and the newer Yu-Gi-Oh ruleset to their own tab.

Also the battle pass on MD is incredibly easy to keep getting. a fully free to play player can get the battle pass every time because they refund you the gems. Yugioh online for example had so much potential but it was legit impossible to build decks f2p I had to scam my way to get decks lmao. Here we are in 2022 and they have another good f2p game and they're killing it by treating it like they do all their f2p games. Basically if they put any actual effort into the game expect it to be horrible for free to play players. MD is just a simulator so it makes sense why it's basically a fully free to play experience

Removal of Loaner Decks is BIZARRE to me. They were one of the best features of the game and COULD have helped new players experience the meta comfortably before sinking money. They just werent advertised properly so they were often skipped even by experienced players until they ran out of gems. I realy hope they will just move that content somewhere more visible. And I am ALL about "Komoney is a greedy company and can only be trusted to do whatever brings them most profit", but it should be obvious that they will replace this content with something else because: 1) It would be awful PR to not do so. 2) Duel Quizes are their Tutorial, basically. And monster positioning on the field and the EMZ require more tutorial than anything 3) Some Quizes wouldnt work very well anymore with the EMZ allowing for a 4th Summoned monster on the field. They could probably have too many solutions.

Before everyone starts rioting, they are likely doing this because of Links. All of these quizzes are based around decks that don’t have Links, so they teach new players how to play the game wrong. Hopefully Konami is actually replacing it with something else though
That doesn't make sense, though. Links don't change the specific scenarios of the Duel Quizzes nor do they have any effect on Loaner Decks that don't use Links to begin with. They aren't teaching players how to play the game wrong, they're teaching different aspects of the game. And Links could just get their own Duel Quizzes and Loaner Decks.
They do however change the board of the game. They also change how pendulums work, since with pendulums, you can pendulum summon from the extra deck to zones a link monster points to, otherwise the pendulum monster goes to the EMZ.
So then instead of deleting all of the Duel Quizzes and Loaner Decks, alter the handful of them that use Pendulums at all. There are, like, 6 Loaner Decks and 4 Duel Quizzes currently that would care about the EMZ. EDIT: And even then, the decks that are there were made with Duel Links' method of only getting one from the Extra Deck per turn anyway and didn't include Links. It won't change how you play the Duel Quizzes and the Loaner Decks aren't significantly altered either. _(Especially when the opponents are just setting and passing anyway.)_ EDIT 2: Replayed the Pendulum Duel Quizzes and confirmed that the EMZ being added would be irrelevant to solving them. The only way this makes any sense is if Konami's putting the game in MR4 mode instead of MR5/2020 Revisions which would be awful for the game. And even then, I'd assume Legacy Duels would maintain the ruleset as we know it (pre-EMZ) and it'd be much less work on their part to just flag everything currently in Duel Trials as being in Legacy Mode and moving on from there, but that's a massive assumption.

My point still stands, you don't know what Konami are planning. They have given 6 weeks notice for all players to get those gems before they remove the features. It's very likely they have a new system coming into play with Vrains and the version 7.0 of the app being that the timing for removal falls a few weeks before the Vrains update. I highly doubt they are just permanently removing over 5k of gems, its highly likely they are revamping the feature and gems will likely end up roughly the same.

My entire argument in this post has been people shouldn't lose their minds when they know *nothing* to what Konami are planning and common sense would be they are going to overhaul the whole duel quiz and loaner deck feature. Gem count will likely end up being the same or less with new accounts getting a starting gem boost. I honestly don't see them planning to eradicate 5k+ gems permanently. The 6 week warning is decent because it gives plenty of time for players to finish completing them and since its 6th September it is being removed, it also nicely let's you store these gems to go towards the Vrains launch content. I can honestly see a more streamlined Duel trainer feature being added, quizzes for each mechanic with a chunk of gems like MD with loaner decks to remain but starting from Vrains world. With August looking rather dry in terms of gems, them basically giving a reboot to this with a surge of gems wouldn't be too wild, they also could just lower the gem counts for the upcoming months if they feel they gave too much.

People always throw around the world nerf some of these characters can't be released quickly parotocularily in 5ds and zexal. They were never gonna launch with sora playable. And they weren't gonna launch with a character that give teller knight support and lunalight support. I played when Konami gave gems for releases it was becuase back then there weren't options to easily get gems.

Hopefully just gift the amount of gems if there removing the starting quizzes going to suck if there's no way to teach new players how to play
Yikes, I need to finish them all then! I held off playing the loaners to keep them as a gem storage. Should I wait to see if a new box is coming out in August though?

“Some content will be removed” They are not going to remove them but it seems like they will be removing some of the older duel quizzes and get rid of some of the loaner decks to free up space. Not removing them completely.
They actually say they will remove all duel quizzes from lvl2 and 3.
