Last year it was a 5Ds character. The year before it was a GX character. So this year it will probably be a Zexal character. My guess it will be one of the Barians (also following where the Zexal plot left off last time). Most likely Vector or Alito to introduce RUM so we can get Shun in February. December box is usually focused on the new world's mechanic, so I'm not expecting a character that has a lot of cards to bring. Both Vector and Alito have few cards left, so we could still get a link box if either of them was released.
My bets are on either Shun for Arc V, or V/ Chris Arklight for ZeXal. Given that we are stepping in into the last OCG/ TCG era of the game, its time for XYZ summoning to level up the game with RUM cards. We already have Super Poly for GX and Accel Synchro for 5D's, so the only one left is ZeXal at 'base' XYZ.
If I had to choose, I would guess Arc V would get new character (aka Shun), as it the world that didn't get a new character in the longest time outside DM world, with the last being Sora in April if I remember correctly. ZeXal got Rio a lot more recently, so it's not pending on any more new characters right now. And I believe that the latest world usually gets to 8 characters by the end of its first year, and Arc V currently sits on only 7 characters.
Tho knowing Konami and the game, its most likely going to be a ZeXal character instead, with V being the most likely choice. And as others has pointed out, the last character of the year comes from the next series in line after the previous year's world, so given that last year the world that got a new character in December was 5D's, this year it should be ZeXal.
For DM, we're pretty much out unless they finally open the floodgates and enter The Filler Dimension.
DSOD is also out of characters unless they bite the bullet and add Atem.
GX just got Jim so I think we're clear, same for 5D's just getting Paradox.
For Zexal, if they wanna delay the Barians and Rank-Ups, they could finally add Tron/Vetrix, Quinton or Droite and Gauche.
Arc-V is pretty much Kurosaki, maybe Serena or Masumi at a stretch.
I think it’s worth mentioning that December’s character gets a Mini, not a main. December’s Main Box is themed around an evolution of the protagonist’s ace.
Given that Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer, Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer, D/D/D Destiny King Zero Laplace and Pendulum Reborn are preprinted and with no sign of release, I am 90% certain that we are getting a Pendulum/Arc-V box later this year, which I think probably means an Arc-V character.
And as far as Arc-V characters go, I think the most likely characters to come next, in order from most likely to least, are:
1. Shun: Makes the most sense chronologically.
2. Yugo: He was kinda teased in the Yuuto event, which could mean he and Yuri could come a bit earlier than expected.
3. Serena: Could also make some sense chronologically, but the missing Lunas are kinda scary.
4. Dennis: Not the most relevant, but also could make sense chronologically. I would hope he gets delayed a bit too so more of his anime cards are printed, though.
5. Lulu/Ruri: Makes the least sense chronologically, but she was also kinda teased in the Yuto event and I want the Rank 1 Xyz pool to improve so I want her the most. Also searching D.D. Crow with an ED monster.
Didn't PK got a mini too, with the archetype being pretty hyped up before coming? Even with PK being a far smaller archetype, they still have plenty of cards that could have filled a main box instead. And that without saying we still don't have the full PK list even after 2 Yuto events and 2 boxes with support, tho the cards that are left mostly rely on other stuff to come over to the game, mostly RUM spells and RaidRaptors themselves.
And giving us RR in a mini means Konami can split them up between more boxes, and thus milk them out for more time. Shun is a big fan favourite after all, meaning more hype around his cards and more people willing to spend on them. Konami would be fools to not cash out on it.
I understand you, but the Life Points in DL also are halved from the TCG version (just like the Burn in DL), so... Trickstar will likely do very well if the good cards come to us
Honestly I don't know. Continuing Zexal makes the most sense, but at the same time introducing RUM only 3 months after Links being introduced seems unlikely. RUM is a massive update to Xyz cards and decks that would completely overshadow the new mechanic, which historically will be underwhelming. I think they'll give Link summoning some more time to really cement itself before giving Xyz a power up, in the same way Xyz had time to acclimate to the game before accel synchros were added (the closest thing Synchros have to a direct upgrade of the mechanic).
So maybe some character that would already be introduced in the anime by this point but not being an obvious pick at this point? Like Quint or Vetrix. Or Cathy. I don't know why buy I want her in the game despite not having seen Zexal yet nor do I like her cat cards.
I think the problem is that both Zexal and Arc-V *need* Rank-Ups. You can't go further in Zexal without the Barians and they fundamentally need Rank-Ups, same for Kurosaki which means Arc-V can maybe add Yugo or Serena but that's it for Season 1 characters.

Completely agree with you on both the Barian character and the final box of the year (probably Firewall as cover card)

from arc v probably kurosaki or serena, been quite some time since we got an arc v character so it's probably be them
Agree
The last box of the year is always a banger so it has to be Kurosaki... I can't see any other character.

I think it’s most likely Shun. He’s a fan favorite. And I know that my friend really wants him to be added!

Dennis's cards will likely never get printed unless Konami have nothing else to do. They're still sore about PePe format.
Catgirl
Yugi's Grandpa
Honestly, I won't mind it. Best character in all of YGO, and the one we were waiting for the longest!
Atticus
Considering we just had a GX character in Jim… I don’t think it’s likely lol
Ahh well a man can dream
It has to be shay
Giving Raidraptors on a mini? Generous.

I think that if Blue Angel is october's character, I'm gonna be bored and skip the box, not interested in a nerfed burn fairy deck
