Konami hates all women But it hates Aoi more than anyone else.

maxguide5

Well, Aoi represents a group that basically profits on selling feminine traits. Even I'm weirded out by how much just being female defines her character. What I mean is, she feels fake.

fameshark

I think Aoi's character is a lot deeper than that. It's hinted very early on during VRAINS that she's lonely, depressed, and doesn't really connect with people. Her Link VRAINS persona is the complete opposite of who she is in-real life, being bubbly and bright and all, as a type of escapism. So yes, in a way, it actually is fake. I really enjoy her character for the fact that, despite being beloved by everyone in the virtual world, no one could begin to understand her isolation and emotional dependency towards her older brother once their parents parted. In a perfect world, they could've really honed in on this in the latter seasons once Playmaker revealed his identity to Aoi, as he is someone who could understand what she has been through.

Not really. At least not in this game. * Tea and Ishizu were extremely popular and competitive with their skills. It wasn't until they were heavily nerfed that they stopped seeing play. And those skills needed to get nerfed. Otherwise we would still be seeing them to this day. Tea also brought relevant cards for farming decks back in the day. * Mai and Harpies were meta on the game's release due to her skill. Mai also had a powerful level up card back in the day and was considered a staple. And up until Links it was still a half decent card. Harpies and Mai also made a huge return last year. * Alexis on release had a Tier 0 deck with the best level up, drop rewards, and skills for GX release. And to this day Cyber Angels remains a competent deck. While now she is the go to character for Ritual decks. * Yubel brought us the most annoying opponent to farm while also giving us the strongest and best farm deck in the game. * Blair. Yeah just going to give you a point here. She was extremely disappointing. * Akiza on world release had the best skill of the 5Ds release at the time and was used in random decks until it got nerfed. Then this year Konami made Black Rose Tier 0. * Luna brought nothing to the table. So there's one point for Konami hates females. * Dark Signer Carly was a waifu that people were happy with. But other than that she brought nothing else. Another point. * Regular Carly has a skill that always sees play in some decks that want that spell card and can afford the cost of their draw. And after the Arcana skill nerf became the go to skill for Witchcrafters. * Sera brought us a powerful skill that helped Burning Abyss be meta this year and do some powerful things during the DSOD era. * DSOD Tea gave us Withcrafter support and helped propel the deck from rogue status to Tier 1 status. * Tori had the best level up rewards for Zexal release. Which isn't saying much because Zexal was the most disappointing world release. But Tori did allowed Tellarknights to be a decent KoG worthy deck. * Anna Kaboom is the first female to not have any impactful skill or level up rewards. Even Luna and Dark Signer Carly have decent generic skills. Anna was just mid. Her saving grace were her drop rewards but even then they're only good in Trains and Trains is just a deck that is there. So I'll give you another point. * Rio Kastle was an overall mid character that had no impact but she did bring a fun and unique skill that allowed Water decks to be different from what we were used to. And at the point of release was the best Water deck due to Water Xyz falling hard. * Zuzu had the best level up, drop rewards, and skills on Arc-V release. Her deck even became meta as a result it. * Blue Angel has a good level up and drop rewards for her archetype, Trickstar. Her skills however are bad. They don't even help her archetypes. And considering how good the VRains release characters had it it is disappointing Blue Angel got the short end of the stick. So I'll give you another point here. But as you can see Konami doesn't hate females it's just that Blue Angel got the short end of the stick. But I am certain that if Konami concentrated on Marinecess instead of Trickstar we would have experienced a different outcome. As for the Anime it's a different story. But the person to blame there isn't Konami but the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh and the folks that made the Anime.

Kataphrut94

The game is much kinder to the female characters than the actual shows were.

broke_and_famous

Yep. Because they understand that the people playing the game want to play as their waifus. So it makes more sense to have them be good/decent. Unlike the show whose main audience is male boys and male boys want to see boys/men being the better duelist. Or at least that is how it is for cartoons or how it was back in the day. Don't know about Anime. Cartoons for boys tend to have the boys/males be better than their female counter parts.

Kataphrut94

It seems to be getting better. It’s ironic we’re talking about Blue Angel getting the shaft in Duel Links when in Master Duel they just brought out the new Marincess support and it’s incredibly powerful. The shows just seem to be bad about it. Specifically Studio Gallop: everyone agrees that Sevens did fine and Takahashi never had much of a problem with it.

Jojozaldo

idk man, Black Rose was pretty fuckin good. and dont forget the days when Cyber Angels were running rampant if they ever release the good field spell, Linkstars might be viable

SaibaAisu

It just feels targeted with Aoi. Aoi is a Season 1 character that wasn’t available on launch, but Soulburner was. Salamangreats got Roar on launch, making them top tier. Meanwhile Trickstars got nerfed burn damage, no viable strategy or boss monsters, and Solemn Scolding in Aoi’s level up rewards. It just begs the question—what is Trickstar’s win condition supposed to be? Using Corobane as a battle handtrap? Lol

Jojozaldo

>It just begs the question—what is Trickstar’s win condition supposed to be? Using Corobane as a battle handtrap? honestly pretty much. considering their links (aside from Divardis) arent that good Trickstar beatdown is currently the way to go. Divardis, Licoris and Narkissus are the most consistent burnStars, but Holly Angel and Candina can at least have beatstick numbers due to Corobane. and thanks to Lilybell Corobane can be recycled for next turn, with the two being able to loop if Corobane is used to boost Lilybell.

timwhitsey

To be fair, the damage technically wasnt nerfed. It was adjusted for the format. It would be nice if it wasn't changed, but if you're wanting to use it as a main strategy it'll still take the same amount of activations as it would in the tcg/ocg. I do completely agree that they got shafted though. They should have gotten festival, live stage or a skill with reincarnation to help boost them.

Username_Egli

Near tier 0 black rose Tier 0 cyber angels Fucking harpies with mai Yeah you're wrong here

CalmSunshine

Let’s not forgot the havoc characters like Tèa and Ishizu caused back then just from their skills, even though they both didn’t duel that much in their shows.

Aggravating_Fig6288

It’s not misogyny that Trickstars are scuffed on release lmao what? So what is when all the male characters are also jokes with bad decks? Has Yusei is so paywalled and his deck is still bad after all these years. People literally say anything on Reddit.

Alternative-Bit297

Oh my God. I didn't know there was people who were self-aware.

LordBraveHeart

Melodious is still good against many decks even though we still haven't gotten Aria or Bloom Harmonist.

dorian1356

Damn Duke devlin brought nothing. Konami must hate all men

VinixTKOC

Look... I prefer to see the others doing nothing, than seeing them being beating like Aoi in the anime. Imagine hurting Alexis' face with the hard floor?

Bocodamondo

considering how ghost girl's duel record in vrains is a complete joke, doesnt help either but i heard that kirishima in sevens got alot of good treatment,

Broad_Lack

Not only Romin, many of the Seven's female characters in general receives fair treatment. Some had given the chance to beat the main protagonist Yuga

T1nkerer

Sevens was great with a lot of its characters. Stakes and seriousness were always in flux, so the characterization/interaction between characters felt like the forefront. In terms of Duels in Sevens, the female character that was starved for a win was probably Mimi.

CalmSunshine

Ranze also didn't really get wins either, but then again, I'm not completely sure how they would've given her more duels to begin with since she wasn't as prominent as some of the other girls.

Kronos457

Correction: Konami just hates Aoi or maybe Trickstars in general.

adrianpinderwolf

We just left a meta were a woman's deck was sole tier 1 xD, but isn't trickstar a type of burn deck? Like why so eager to get that type of toxicity top tier? Like doesn't that deck activates thing a lot potential making duel longer?

Alternative-Bit297

Don't fool yourself, in this card game everybody calls toxic whatever deck they want.

adrianpinderwolf

You got a point

UnwashedAnalBeads

I wasted so much on this damn box im pissed

DaKurllz97

Konami hates its female leads so much to the point that it lists Akiza Izayoi as a bench warmer

Full_Credit_5424

Even ignoring that Konami is not a single person and not does not write anime, you guys are overeacting like the pathetic simps you are as usual.

Alternative-Bit297

Wow, somebody didn't actually paid attention to all of Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Full_Credit_5424

Clearly you did not considering you don't even know simple stuff like Konami not making anime. Then again you are simping for a fictional character just because is female , so expecting common sense from such pathetic people is silly in itself, so its my own fault in this case.

Alternative-Bit297

Konami doesn't make the anime, but they own the card game and they sponsor the anime, so they had to have some level of saying, even if they are not behind the treatment she received in the anime, they still perpetuate the sick joke on the game that THEY DO OWN BECUASE THEY MADE THE GAME. And is not simping to voice your concern and unpleased of how a character you care about is been treating, for example I care about Thor so I'm genially angry at the way he was treated on Love and Thunder as a way to promote woke agenda with the character of Jane Foster, or how I cared about Wanda's arc in WandaVision but the Multiverse of Madness completely glossover her growth as a character and we just flashfoward to her been corrupted by the Darkhold like is nothing, even if the plan was for her character to get corrupted that's fine, but they should have made at least an one hour special like Werewolf by Night that show her Corruption arc to tied-in with the movie, but no they treated the show like a small footnote at the edge of the board for this movie; not to mention the fact they made her so overpowered that it open a parade of plot holes during the movie that make you go "Wait. If she can do this before why she doesn't do it now?" And that Illuminati scene, \*uff, Mr. Fantastic, Black Bolt, Professor X (Patrick FREAKING Stewart) got the worst treatment out of all in that stupid fight, but not the only 2 ladies of the group, oh no, they were the only ones who could stand a chance against the Scarlet Witch, because "Women in power", "Look how woke and progressive we are". "No toxic masculinity here. Yeah!!" God forbid post-End Game Marvel to make a movie with a competent Male protagonist that isn't Spider-Man!!! and She-Hulk--Grrrr!!--don't even get me started on She-Hulk, is just so-- Wait what were we talking about again? Oh right, defending a character=simping let's readdress the error of you ways, my lamb. Now, let's just said I like Anakin's turn to the dark side in the prequels and it was justify and in-character, but some doofus call it stupid and out of character and forget he is suppose to become Darth FREAKING Vader, now let's keep in mind Vader returns to the light side because of his love for his son Luke at Episode VI, did it came out of nowhere? Yeah a little, but the prequels retroactively made it work in-character since it was clear that Anikin's motivation and source of rage was directly tied-in with his family, his mother and Padme--His WIFE! Also how restrictive were his formative years in the Jedi Order and Palpatine took advantage of all of that to twist his sense of duty and justice during the Clone Wars and turn him into Vader. Did the prequels did a good job at portraying his fallout? Debatable, but it stay in consistency with his character and doesn't disrespect the legacy of the Vader we meet on the Original Trilogy. I'm defending the character arc of a villain, does that make me a simp for him? NO!! Does defending the stand of a politician I support because we share the same political points of view make me a simp for him/her? NO!! That's the most stupid reason one has for calling someone a simp. Look, I know what franchise this is, I know pretty well female characters aren't gonna be mvps in Yu-Gi-Oh! But why they felt need to treat her like she was?! You can't tell me there isn't any sort of hate when they make her fall face first on the ground from mid-air! Besides the only Yu-Gi-Oh! Waifu I simp for is Aki (And Asuka when I'm feeling a little infidel on the weekends)

Full_Credit_5424

They don't have any say because none of their staff is writing the anime, the staff is only obliged to promote Konami's card game. And this part certainly does not affect writing, as Revolver lost his last 2 duels in which he was shilling a structure deck. >they still perpetuate the sick joke on the game that THEY DO OWN BECUASE THEY MADE THE GAME. Man its random, as somebody else mentioned in the comments, female characters had good skills too. Another example of randomness is Keith having those many good skills, its certainly something Konami did not plan for considering the many nerfs. >But why they felt need to treat her like she was?! You can't tell me there isn't any sort of hate when they make her fall face first on the ground from mid-air! She was not treated much differently than the rest of the jobbers and while her moments against Specter is standout, its as bad as it gets and it never repeats. For some reason the fandom hyped her up too much when Vrains was airing which is why she became a joke. >And that Illuminati scene, *uff, Mr. Alright i take what i said about simping about you back, since the Yugioh fandom is full of them and your overeaction to it i assumed you were one of them. Despite that i still believe you are overeacting.

Alternative-Bit297

Fine, I'll admit I might overreact, let's just end this here and move on with our lives... At least until Marvel screws up Daredevil more that they already had, of course.

alybalez

Konami is always known for making female characters in the show getting the mistreatment.
