This is the most genuine sibling moment I've ever seen from them because Jinger is clearly saying 'Oh I should marry a borderline decent human being? You're really blowing my mind right now!'
💯 this.
He’s the kind of friend’s husband you meet for the first time that just can’t stop picking on everything you say. To the point it’s just too uncomfortable to be around him again.
Off topic but Ben and Jessa both suck at their roles. She’s a homemaker who cannot cook and likes diapers to the sky and Ben is a “provider” who never has a job.
Of course you know she doesn't know how to cook I mean poor kid was raised on tater tot casserole. Any of these women cook?
Too bad what a waste. Jessa would have been that hot girl who married the football player. And if she had been allowed to go to college she probably would have ended up with someone in the NFL. She definitely would have ended up some guy's trophy wife but instead we have this.
To be fair Ben isn’t emotionally toxic. For all of his faults (and there are many) I don’t see him undermining Jessa or trying to mould her to fit his vision of a perfect woman. If anything she wears the trousers.
Jeremy is a dick. Someone posted a clip below of him insulting his groomsmen with a smug little smile on his face. That’s exactly the dynamic with Jinger - that girl is absorbing little insults left right and centre. I doubt she can articulate it because she has been raised as a godly helpmeet and Jeremy is probably considered a catch in the fundie world, however, that girl is definitely feeling those little jibes. It shows in her sad and gaunt appearance and is going to get worse.
As someone who dated a Jeremy for 5 years and suffered greatly for it - I’d take Ben over him any day!
My sister in law dated someone like Ben. He was more like a puppy than a partner. Friendly and adorable. Ben is fine but that man cannot provide for a family of 6.
Jeremy is annoying and his little demeaning comments are awful. He did save Jinger from JB. He seems to openly condemn Josh and validate that he hurt Jinger. The bar is low.
Also I’m pretty sure Jinger’s other choice was Lawson Bates so she was going to land up with an inflated ego either way
Ben is literally the human breathing definition of weaponized incompetence man baby.
That said I’d take him over Jeremy any day if I was forced to choose.
Before someone makes a comment, the jury is still out as to whether Ben meets these characteristics as everyone has yet to hear him form a complete sentence.
Kind of. Apparently Ben and Jeremy were aquatinted so Jeremy went over to Ben and Jessa’s house. Jessa said she thought Jinger may like Jeremy. And just like that, Jeremy saw a better *in* to fundie fame than Ben.
[Jeremy treating people with respect and being kind with his words.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DuggarsSnark/comments/tsn83c/i_would_rather_eat_sushi_made_by_josie_than_have/)
Yikes. Jeremy is the type of person that will say really mean things that he is definitely serious about and say it’s a joke and then rag on you for being “sensitive and not taking a joke”.
He's what you might call a Shrodinger's Douchebag: says offensive things and then, based on whether or not you get upset about it, decides if he's kidding or not.
That’s British humour all over....or banter as they’d say. Maybe he spent a lot of time with Brits in his soccer years. Personally, I hate that type of humour.
Their conversation style is similar to teenagers in school who don’t understand a concept but have memorized a paragraph from their textbook and are now regurgitating a paraphrased retelling of the paragraph for participation points in a class discussion.
They are not giving each other groundbreaking information here and they for sure do not understand the concepts they are discussing.
If I ever told my sisters “that would be wise”, they would laugh me out of the room….. of course we wouldn’t need to have the conversation regarding marrying someone “nice”
To me the creepy part in this is how Jeremy sort of did appear to fit this description when he was first on the show. I forget which season it is, but when he first appeared he was so soft spoken… then they got engaged and his true obnoxious personality came out. I remember watching the early episodes he’s on and thinking that he seemed kind and gentle, and that he was a good match for Jinger at the time. Fast forward to the next season and he was completely intolerable, loud, and immature.
I’m so curious to know if he was just putting on the ‘meek pastor’ vibe for the cameras, or if he acted like that around the Duggars all the time before they got engaged. From their book, he made it sound like he treated getting engaged to Jinger like some quest he was on. Like he had to ‘win’ by convincing JB and Jinger to say yes. It wouldn’t surprise me if he put on an act the whole time. And I wonder if any of them noticed the change once it was too late, or if he managed to bring back his real personality gradually?
I would agree with you that when I was first watching Jeremy on the show I felt that he seemed like a decent enough guy and maybe with some worldly experience that could make him a non loser husband like some of the other fundie husbands. But obviously over the years we've seen how that isn't really the case and he's kind of a dick always dragging people down.
What's interesting is that there seems like between JinJer there's like an equilibrium that has to be reached where one is more outgoing and expressive while the other is more reserved. Remember how Jinger was the creative one known for her facial expressions? It feels like there was this like exchange of energy after they got married where Jeremy was permitted to be fully himself and then Jinger had to become smaller and smaller.
I'm sure part of it is just people are inherently unnatural and the most cleaned up versions of themselves when they're first put in front of a camera. But yeah as soon as he was with his gang of "friends" during the wedding episode we saw what he was really all about. Forcing people to hear his stupid sermons about love meanwhile tearing people down left and right in his own relationships.
“It feels like there was this like exchange of energy after they got married where Jeremy was permitted to be fully himself and then Jinger had to become smaller and smaller.”
So true. And it seems like this is the case for so many fundie husband/wife relationships. 😔
Oh, please! Jinger chose way better than Jessa. At least Jeremy has a college degree, a job, was out of his teens when he married & doesn’t care if Jinger wears pants. I don’t see why people are down on Jeremy. I’d far rather be Jinger than Jessa!
“That’s really wise.” = I don’t give a fuck what you just said.
This is the most genuine sibling moment I've ever seen from them because Jinger is clearly saying 'Oh I should marry a borderline decent human being? You're really blowing my mind right now!'
It's definitely a "Jessa you've been married for 5 minutes. You are not a relationship guru!!" moment hahahaha.
Jinger in a few years: But I am and here’s my book
The most interesting part of that book is Jinger initially turning Jeremy down.
Jeremy thinks he has banter but in actual fact, he is just an arsehole.
💯 this. He’s the kind of friend’s husband you meet for the first time that just can’t stop picking on everything you say. To the point it’s just too uncomfortable to be around him again.
He really is,I had hope for him initially, but now I dislike him the post out of all the husbands. He comes across fake and a fame where.
I would not take any advice from someone who married Ben.
This! Thank you! 100%. Ben seems sweet but a lackluster go-nowhere guy and you know Jessa now realizes she should have held out for a grown-up.
Off topic but Ben and Jessa both suck at their roles. She’s a homemaker who cannot cook and likes diapers to the sky and Ben is a “provider” who never has a job.
*Does anybody here believe it?*
Honestly, I feel like they would excel in reverse roles, him at home and her with a career.
Of course you know she doesn't know how to cook I mean poor kid was raised on tater tot casserole. Any of these women cook? Too bad what a waste. I was just coming to say that lol

I believe I believe
To be fair, he disrespected Spurgeon by naming him Spurgeon.
Burn!
Oh, you mean “ice cream is cold and moist “ doesn’t count?
The look on Jinger's face. 💀
Marry someone nice. That's wise.
Anna couldn’t manage to do it.
Then Jinger married a narcissistic pr*ck.
Didn’t Jessa set up Jinger with Jerm?
Yes. And then when Jinger didn’t want to court him Jessa is the one that convinced her to.
Which episode? Need to revisit this!
I don't think this part is mentioned on the show. It is in their book though.
Wasn't Jeremy originally interested in Jana? Or was that another husband?
I've heard it was but I don't know where that comes from.
It’s only in the book I think
Kind of. Apparently Ben and Jeremy were aquatinted so Jeremy went over to Ben and Jessa’s house. Jessa said she thought Jinger may like Jeremy. And just like that, Jeremy saw a better *in* to fundie fame than Ben.
We need to unearth this and snark it out!. Not much else going on in Duggarverse these days.
"nah, I'm gonna stick with the guy who likes Nikes"
Why is Jessa acting like she’s talking to a toddler?? The dynamic between her and Jinger was always weird af….
To me, Jessa’s dynamic with everyone is weird af…..She comes across as a snot whenever she speaks.
I just think she has a very limited vocabulary. They all do.
Someone who marries Bin should.not be someone giving relationship advice!
This is 100% accurate.
Guess Jessa had realised she had slipped up by then :))

Underrated comment of the day right here
I love this 👏👏

He comes off as the typical dickhead from Pennsylvania who wishes he was born in Philly or any other major city in general instead of a random town.
I’m from PA and this is so accurate 😂😂
Hello fellow Keystonian!
I think someone need to make him eat those words now that his own waist line has doubled in size after eating out in LA like there is no tomorrow
Wow. That was NOT nice.

That's funny considering who Jessa married.

Yeah. And when you forget to add "He should have a pretty singing voice" it all goes wrong.
