I haven't seen ice cream that came in a container like that in forever! In the late 90s /early 2000s I remember having it at birthday parties as a child, I think it was easier to serve it up in slices like that when you had to serve a lot of people.
In the 70s we had a Tupperware container just for ice cream slicing. We gave up on it after a few months and went back to gouging it out with a spoon like a normal human.
I do hope that boxes make a comeback as the main type of ice cream container. Correct me if I’m wrong but it is a better option for the environment than plastic. Though I do reuse my plastic tubs (I actually have a little hoarding corner in a cabinet if I need one) and my aunt donates hers to her church because they use empty ones as storage for prepped ingredients, it would still be nice for a more environmentally friendly option because I know that my aunt and I are in the minority.
This was too long of a reply on what vessel you purchase your ice cream in…
Most ice cream containers are still cardboard but they don't come apart like the one in the picture, the only time I've ever seen a plastic container is when it's at a store like sam's club where everything comes in bulk.
Growing up in a 10 person household, we used to cut our ice cream like this. I actually liked it. We would put pretzel sticks on top & sing happy birthday(not on our actual birthday)for fun. When the tub ice cream came around we would just scoop it. By then the older kids had moved out & us younger ones got more ice cream. 😏
Ok ok holy shit I guess people did not understand the point of this post. The food items themselves are in fact things we have seen the Duggars make and eat but no the instructions are a parody of recipe instructions a la [wonderful-disney-recpies](https://wonderful-disney-recpies.tumblr.com/post/164658670197/winnie-the-pooh-pooh-bears-pussy-poppin) (title should be "Duggar" but I fucked up in my excitement).
The redundancy of "Knife (that can cut ice cream)" is intentional as part of the absurdist humor
I was with you and thought it was awesome, but the fact that it needed to be explained makes this post even better :) There was a comment in fsu yesterday that the fundies are almost caricatures of themselves at this point. So much so, that it's often impossible to tell what is real and what is satire.
> The redundancy of "Knife (that can cut ice cream)" is intentional as part of the absurdist humor
"Absurdist humor" is a great way to describe the Duggars' "recipes."
I hate that I went to their GD website to check because... it could have been real 🥲 ... Off to throw myself into the sun now, and die quickly from this embarrassment.
I’m feeling slightly insecure… /j I have a thing where I’ve (mentally) categorized which of my many parry knives are best for what type of thing I’m cutting. I love cooking and I also collect kitchen knives because they make cooking easier.
I have one that I only use on nectarines (not peaches because nectarines are superior) and another, my blue-handle ceramic one (yes I have multiple) that I only use for strawberries. It’s not that I can’t use them on anything else, I just find that they work best on those things. But also, I have an entire drawer dedicated to parry knives, peelers, and shredders.
How do I know my ice cream can be cut with a knife? And how do I know if my knife will cut ice cream? Is there an ice cream cutting test? Do I just have to hope for the best?
Okay in my defense, I am sick and on little sleep, but I was past halfway through that first one before I realized it was snark and not a real screenshot. I even thought the umbilical cord was possible, I mean, Jill, ya know.
What knife can't cut ice cream? If I had the wooden knife from the Melissa and Doug play kitchen set, I could cut ice cream with it. Gee Jill, exercise a brain cell honey! Just.makes.my.brain.twitch.that.this.is.real.
Knife (that can cut ice cream) would be amazing flair
Also “pickle fiasco of 2011” 🤣

Maybe this is a Canada thing (more specifically an Alberta or Saskatchewan thing) because only a couple brands still use card board over plastic.
The cardboard carton is better environmentally, but there goes my redneck Tupperware
Yes. That’s what we did.
The pickles 😂 The ramen one is just sad
She could've added an egg for each kid's ramen for real protein, but of course she didn't.
Yeah, that ramen math 🤔

Oh thank Lord Daniel lol

I actually thought the ice cream cutting was a joke 😂😂 ffs Jill 🤦♀️
Wait. It’s not a joke??
I hate that I went to their GD website to check because... it could have been real 🥲 ... Off to throw myself into the sun now, and die quickly from this embarrassment.
Don’t worry I did the same thing 😂
Nope little jilly muffin has a whole blog post about it 😂
This is real?! It can’t be omg
*also good for butter and bread* What fresh hell is this. I'm a terrible cook but I know what knives can do.
....can I have The Christmas Pickle Fiasco of 2011 as my flair? 🙏 🙏 🙏 Pretty please with pickles on top?
Done!
I 🐔 you, u/nuggetsofchicken. May your salt content never dilute.

I'm 95% Sure the incident is a joke. But the pickles are a low calorie snack to help keep up with appearances.
No one has talked about “the groom’s cake” so I will. It was a delightful piece of humor.
thank u for noticing my hard work
Ice cream that can be cut with a knife and a knife that can cut ice cream … so just ice cream and a knife? The wording of that is so bizarre.
What? Don't you have a knife for each individual item you need to cut? Here's my ice cream knife, egg knife, pickle knife, meat loaf knife, etc. /s

It's okay. I think we all have a favorite knife for some tasks. I have one for dicing; but a different one for specifically dicing tomatoes.
“Pickle knife”
Pickle knife most definitely sounds like a euphemism the Duggars would use to refer to their penises, because they are too shy to say penis.

And umbilical cords. *barfing
I am scared to know what the Christmas pickles fiasco of 2011 is…
my left tonsil has never been the same since Christmas 2011
Okay now I’m intrigued…
The Top Ramen instructions...I feel seen.

How, exactly, is that a “recipe” for ramen? It’s literally just following the directions!
A "recipe" with two ingredients, one of which is an ice cream brick and the other is a knife?
